Came here with some friends after church on a Sunday. We’re were told by someone sitting down that the service was very slow today. I was told be prepared to wait. Right before I get to the register my friend tells me, «good luck with that one.» Well ok then. I’m at the register and the lady seemed a little perturbed. She wasn’t nice and friendly. But wasn’t outright rude. She seemed like she was having a rough day and very tired. She did tell me it would be about a 15 minute wait. I said ok that’s fine and placed my order. The wait didn’t seem long at all. They even brought our food to the table. I’m assuming the night staff didn’t prepare well for them the evening before. Or they didn’t expect to get busy. My friend was very upset because they wouldn’t take her coupon. It’s like come on lady just take the coupon. What happened to «the customer is always right» having worked in the service industry I feel like the coupon should have been honored. But that aside, the food was good and warm. Personally i enjoyed my meal and had no issues. I see myself coming back here if I’m in the area.

We went here after church for lunch with friends. It wasn’t too busy. The floors and the tables were really dirty. The old lady that took our order was beyond rude. They wouldn’t take our field goal for firehouse coupon at this location. I asked her why and she just said she has no idea why they took it but she won’t in a snotty attitude. About a month ago the Northside location took a similar coupon no problem. The food was good. Just really disappointed with the lady that took our order and the cleanliness of the place.

This get’s five stars as I genuinely think it’s the best sub I’ve ever tasted. It was 14″ of deliciousness. I went for the Sicilian, which probably bore no resemblance to anything you’d get in Sicily . The place is a chain and donates some of profits to firefighters of America — which is nice.

Fresh hot subs. Love it! It’s also free! Firehouse Subs has entered into partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars this 2014 – 15NFL season to celebrate the team’s fans. Through the offer, Jaguars fans can score a free medium sub of choice from participating restaurants when the Jaguars kick a field goal of 40 yards or more. Luckily, we have a great FG kicker in Josh Scobee. All you have to do is buy a medium drink and chips. Total damage = $ 3. Awesome deal! Plus, they have a great staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere.

For many, Firehouse Subs are the best. I am not sure if I can agree with that, I think I have to try many other subs at different restaurants. But I have to say that they are really good. I went to Firehouse in the San Marco area for lunch. We got there before noon to avoid lines. From the very beginning to the end, I have to say that customer service was very professional. That, and the sandwich that I had were the highlights of my visit. I had the New York steamer, a sandwich made with corned beef brisket, pastrami, melted provolone, mustard, mayo, and italian dressing. I do not have too give too many details on how was it. I just have to say that it was excellent, delicious, better than expected. I used a coupon to pay fo this sandwich, drink and chips, all for $ 3.30. A very happy customer I am.

Good Fresh and Hot Sandwiches This place really is better than Subway and Quiznos for sure. Lots more choice, the bread is far better and the ingredients are better quality as well. Takes a little longer as it is freshly made and heated but it is worth it.

This review was based solely on my desire to try out the Pork/Slaw King’s Hawaiian sandwich I hear so much about on the radio. I will give Firehouse Subs some credit for getting the word out on this«limited time» sandwich. Was it good? Check out my other reviews at Location: Right in the heart of the San Marco restaurant district. Decent parking available in front and back. There is a rear entrance if you park in the back, so that is good. Just be warned, if you eat and then walk around, I hear they enforce the towing policy. Food: My wife went with what is probably one of their more popular sandwiches: The Hook and Ladder combo. It came with a drink and chips for $ 7.78. I came with one thing on my mind, the King Hawaiian sandwich. For the combo it was $ 8.18. No option to make the sandwich bigger because it comes in a round roll, not the traditional long style roll. I won’t review my wife’s sandwich because I’m sure you don’t care about that. Now on to the main event. The King Hawaiian Pork/Slaw! I was surprised that it was a round bread but that is probably just me, my wife predicted it would be round. I’m an idiot I suppose. Let me just say, I wasn’t disappointed at all. This thing hit the spot in all areas. I’m usually a snob when it comes to BBQ sauce and frankly I was worried it would be sweet(I prefer mustard base sauces). It wasn’t either actually, it was very subtle and then it was covered in a tangy slaw. Very good, very flavorful and VERYMESSY! From the first bite, the juices were running down my hand and all over the place. I just ate directly over the chips so it just added flavor to them later. The bread was great by the way, everything you come to expect from the bakers of the Hawaiian bread, very soft and a subtle sweet taste. Oh and the pork, BIG chunks, not overly shredded so it gave it some heft when eating. I want another sandwich just thinking about it. Overall Rating 1 – 10: 8.5 I would give it higher if it wasn’t for the mess it created. Once you grab it and start eating it, you have to keep going because it is a little too messy to keep putting it down and picking it back up. Extra Info: Of course Firehouse Subs is known for having the Coke Freestyle so that was neat, lots of options and for the kids at heart, you can always make a «suicide». You know, the mix of everything! Hello Diabetes! The one critique was by my wife. When she used the restroom she commented that there were no hooks in the women’s room to hang your purse. Not a big deal for guys, but does a woman want to put a couple hundred dollar purse on the bathroom floor? It’s the little details that often get overlooked. That’s our only critique, so that’s a win!

If you are going to get a sub or sandwich from a chain place, this is the place to go. I don’t know if its because they are still small [relatively tiny] or if they have something different going, but Firehouse has quality food with better, more personal service. The family that started it is located here in Jacksonville, and they are still very much a regional operation. My favorite thing about Firehouse is their appreciation for heat [its called Firehouse after all]. They have a huge assortment of hot sauces, including some that are completely insane. If you think you like it hot, ask them for some Mad Dog Sauce [they keep it behind the counter because its not safe], actually forget I told you about it, its over the top even for me! Also my Best Buddy [look for my review] Wanda has worked at the Beach Blvd location for years, and I’ve been really proud of her relationship with this company. If you’re local and haven’t tried Firehouse, well do, and that goes double for those just visiting [don’t miss your chance] – for a quick, casual lunch Firehouse is great.

Wow, I really wish we had Firehouse Subs on the west coast. The ingredients are fresh and the sandwiches are still warm from the oven — much better than the Quizno’s chain. I actually tried this place in Glynco, GA and was really glad we had it because the sandwiches were soooo good. It was nice and clean inside, and not busy at all, which is a plus, because you get your subs quicker!

Man I have had some hearty delicious subs in my life but nothing compared to what I had here today. A delicious Turkey and Roast beef sub with all the fixins. Fresh and they warm it up like Quizno’s but its not all nasty and artificial tasting like Quizno’s at all. Verdict: The best damn sub… EVER!!!

Firehouse Subs is a great sub chain with a location in the heart of San Marco. This was the first time I’ve ever had a sub from Firehouse, as they don’t have any locations in Cleveland. When someone had suggested going here for lunch in San Marco, I thought they were crazy with all the other appealing options in the area. I went along though and was pleasantly surprised. This location is big and spacious and was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon. You order at the counter and wait for them to deliver it to your table, so it takes longer than at Subway or at Quiznos. I had the New York steamer sub, which consisted of corned beef and pastrami and was topped with cheese, mayo, mustard, and Italian dressing. I had it on wheat. It was great. Sure, it wasn’t like getting pastrami from a Jewish deli, but it was still a great sandwich. So far it’s the best sub chain I’ve tried thus far(It doesn’t hold a candle to my favorite local sub chain in Cleveland, but for a multi state chain, it’s the best). The only negative was that they had Fox news on TV(and my liberal political beliefs have been revealed to the Unilocal community). Overall, if you’re in an area with a Firehouse Subs location, consider giving it a try. It’s no Subway(and I mean that in a good way, Subway is just average to me).
