foods good but a tad expensive. the pound cakes made my Sarah are amazing but reading the comments below I have to agree with the take it or leave it attitude. they ran me off today… Peace out. the blonde cashier is friendly but Sara and the other lady are friendly one day and not the next. good luck to the owners. they are other places I can spend my hard earned money

Stan’s is a little unassuming breakfast and sandwich spot on the Southbank. I only ended up there because I overshot High Tide one day and figured I would try something new. It actually reminds me a lot of Col. Mustards at the beach on the inside. While I usually mention the inside of a restaurant in a review, I don’t really particularly care what it is like. A cool interior might boost a rating, but a bad interior won’t affect it. That is, of course, unless the bad space is the bathroom. It was so gross when I was there. I’m not far removed from college so dirty dorms and apartments are still fresh in my mind. But come on — people are paying to eat here. On to the food, I’ve eaten here twice. Very bland the first time, solid the second time. One positive — I despise crinkle cut fries, but they season them very well so they are actually pretty damn good. I might actually give Stan’s another shot. The food was a pleasant surprise the second time. My main gripe here isn’t the food, it is the disgusting bathroom. Maybe just a bad day? If the bathroom is clean next time I could definitely see this rating improving.

I come to this location a couple times a month when work takes me to this neighborhood for breakfast. It’s always the same and you always know what you’re going to get. This is not gourmet food and it’s not going to look pretty. It is however going to taste pretty good. Often get an egg white veggie omelette which is consistent but it does have that fake American cheese. I suspect you could ask for Swiss but I just forget. Prices are a little higher than your average sandwich shop and the people that work there are kind a gruff but consistency is awesome. This is a neighborhood institution.

Food is alright, staff and owners argue constantly. Nothing like taking a break from work and listening to people yell at each other.

Darn shame 2 days in a row 2 restaurants of course this is number 2. There is no reason to order one thing and get something else. I ordered the a sausage and egg pita get bacon and egg… just lame and sloppy! It was good just not what I ordered. Tough thing about the pita they fold ingredients in and you can not tell what you got till you eat it.

I haven’t been to this Stan’s in maybe 5 – 6 years now. The new owner’s really stepped it up a little bit. They have cleaned the place up and brightened up also. The place isn’t as dingy as I remembered. So for the food I strayed away from my normal kind of. I usually go for a camel rider at these type of sandwiches places. I did stay with my other go to and that’s the Italian of some sorts. They have an Italian Trio and let me say it is good. The meats were gently fried to really bring out the flavors. The toppings were fresh and crisp. The tomatoes were firm but juicy and the bread was soft and fresh. I really enjoyed this sandwich and I bet it won’t be 5 years till I come back.

If you are ever in Jacksonville, you should definitely head to Stan’s. Great food made to order, very fresh. Awesome service that makes you feel like part of the family. Please support this local gem and I’m not even from Jacksonville.

I’m reviewing this restaurant based on the breakfast alone, as I’ve not had the lunch. This is a basic sandwich shop with everything you would expect. The breakfast is very fairly priced and very good. I always order the egg pita, which you can order with cheese and meats, mayo or butter. I get it dry(to opt for the healthiest option) and it is still packed with flavor. I need a lot of hot sauce on my eggs, so they prepare it with the Texas Pete mixed in, which I appreciate. The other breakfast options are good as well. All of the staff are friendly and seem to know all of the regulars. Love having this place close to the office when a hard boiled egg or oatmeal just won’t cut it!

Hooray! Another place to enjoy Jacksonvilles signature sandwich, the Camel Rider. With a fresh squeezed cherry limeade? YUMMO… Good food, friendly prices, and friendly people. What more could you want from a quick(not«fast») food place? When it comes to sandwiches, they do it right. While all the Stans were started by Dan Paul and his son Stan years ago, they all have different ownership and different menus today. See the menu: How did I forget about this place for so long?

I love Stan’s Sandwich shop. Yesterday I met a friend here for lunch after not having visited here for several years. Chicken salad sandwich on rye with lettuce, tomato, mayo and Swiss cheese. As always, it was excellent. My friend ordered the same. We were not disappointed. If you want a really good sandwich, and they come in many varieties, you can’t go wrong with Stan’s.

Simple sandwich shop with your basic, cold and hot subs, plus they do burgers, dogs and breakfast. The menu did not inspire my appetite, however I ended up getting two¼ lb hot dogs and I have to admit they were damn good dogs! I would come back for them. The combo came with fries and I could not even come close to eating all the fries, but they were simple fries, not like all the other places in Jax that try to put a spin on fries, these were plain, cut like traditional fries and go well with ketchup. Service was cordial but a bit slow, especially since I was in a rush. But if I could have stayed, their sign said they had wifi and I could have enjoyed my tablet. I’d say 4 stars for the dogs, didn’t try the rest of the menu, but wasn’t impressed by the choices…3 ½ stars overall… rounding down to a 3 here… maybe if I go more regularly will bump to a 4.
