I’ve driven by the Parkland Green area a million times on the way to/from the airport. EVERY time I tell myself I have to check it out… every time I forget. Well this SG50 day, I wanted to avoid the crowd so we ended up hanging out at East Coast Park taking a stroll down the beach, watching fireworks from the nearby pier and ending our night with some food and drinks at Patro’s. I was instantly sold when I saw the«Mexican and North Indian Cuisine» signage. What a random yet awesome combo, I’m in. We had this«Gobi Manchurian» which is inspired by Indian-Chinese cuisine. I’ve never had Indian-Chinese food and only recently found out there is such a thing. Kind of like American-Chinese or Korean-Chinese…each country or region has their take or flavor on Chinese food and apparently Indian-Chinese is quite popular… in India. But they have it here and this was our first take and MAN was it delicious. It’s basically deep fried cauliflower prepared General Tso style(sweet, sour, spicy)… it was addicting. I also had the veggie supreme nachos which were nice. I’d order it again. It’s closer to real nachos than other variances I’ve had on the island. The fajitas were just okay. 3 Flour tortillas with a small helping of sour cream, guacamole, and salsa with a sizzling plate of meat of your choice. It was acceptable but uninspiring. Their margaritas are huge and worth trying. I liked my lime margarita. The strawberry one was too sweet. I asked them how they came up with the idea for a Mexican/Indian sports bar. The lady said her husband opened a Mexican restaurant back in the 90s but it didn’t do well due to the economic downturn. Perhaps Singapore wasn’t as ready for Mexican food back then but I think it’s taking off now. They also run the Kinara chain of Indian restaurants and the Saffron Bistro at Boat Quay. Service was very friendly. We had a couple of doggies with us that we were dogsitting and we had at least 3 people come ask if they needed water or anything else. Super dog friendly! I really appreciated that and will come back.

Good breeze, good mix of mexican and indian food. The prices are high but reasonable for the east coast location. This is from the Kinara group of restaurants which has a central kitchen and hence, kebabs etc are not made from scratch. They are at most probably re-heated at the outlet else how do you bring a tandoori chicken order out in 2 minutes. Taste is fine and menu choices are quite lengthy which can cater to all tastes. Nice place if the the weather permits.
