In my family, Weekends always mean family togetherness! How I always look forward to the family bonding over a good meal. This weekend we decided to check out the Bakery & Bar St Marc at Greenland Park(new section at East coast park). We absolutely loved the vibe and the area surrounding of the restaurant. In front of the restaurant is a green field facing the sea. It’s definitely a place for family to bring kids. Also, Interestingly I think this might be the first St Marc outlet to offer food, other than just breads, pastries and desserts. Inside, The restaurant is rather spacious and can cater for big groups. Once seated we asked for cold water for the family. We were then told 1 jug of water was $ 1. What?! It could have been tap water for all we know and it’s $ 1?! Are we paying for their utility bills or what?! Seriously… Anyway no choice we took 3 skinny jugs for our family of 8. Our order include: 1. Kids fish & chips(2 tiny pieces with tiny shoe string fries) 2. Spaghetti bolognese 3. Prawn aglio olio 4. Seafood spaghetti 5. Wagyu beef burger(served with tiny shoe string fries) When the food arrived, To be honest, the portions were all rather small even by a lady’s standard. The nephew who ate the wagyu beef burger enjoyed it, he said the beef was cooked just right and was juicy and delicious. The rest of us had only a phrase to describe our seafood/prawn pasta — «it’s like hokkien mee». Ok don’t get us wrong, the pastas were tasty. The sauce for the seafood pasta had a good broth base that made it very flavorful. The seafood and prawns used were very fresh. But the style of pasta, the execution is more Japanese than Italian. What’s also surprising was that they don’t charge service charge or GST. Hmmm… That sort of appeased our frustrations with having to pay for ice water. :) On the whole I think this is an ok and versatile place where one can have the flexibility of having tea to actual meal, whilst having the space outside for the kids to run and play. Ps. Greenland park is situated at East Coast Park, car park area C1. Parking may be quite difficult to get over the weekend.
