Located at the start of Parkland Green is Pick Me Up Café. They overlook the green field which had lots of families with young children playing frisbee and the sea. A great windy location. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with free wifi. Pick Me Up Café is geared more towards family oriented gatherings with young children, as they have kiddy play section at the entrance. They’re not so much catered to the hipster crowd. Pick Me Up Café prides itself in serving all day dining breakfast, cold pressed juice, home-made yogurt gelato, coffee and all other hearty delights that’s sure to pick you up! I found a groupon deal that offered a laser tag game for 5 and a family meal. After the laser tag game we were exhausted, sweaty and couldn’t wait to eat dinner! 1. Caesar Salad All the food pretty much came at the same time which we were appreciated, since we were starving. The caesar salad was okay, but abit too much dressing. Veggies tasted fresh and the portion was good. 2. Cajun Chicken Pizza We had 2 pizzas and shared amongst 6 people, 3 guys, 3 girls. It was perfect! It was cheesy enough, the meat was tasty, but the crust, was a bit doughy. Could’ve been in the oven for a while longer. 3. Tutti Frutti This tasted like watermelon juice with fresh coconut jelly in it, it was refreshing and great for us, as we were still trying to cool down from the adrenaline rush from the laser tag! 4. Family Waffle $ 22.90+ What makes Pick Me Up a healthier choice is their home-made yogurt gelato! The second we walked in, we took turns trying to pick what flavours we wanted, we were getting a waffle with 4 scoops of gelato! As it is SG50, they have an interesting variety of local flavours. We decided to try the butter pandan kaya. With Taro, Butter Pandan Kaya, Swiss Chocolate, Pistachio, we had our family waffle which was so pretty! There were generous with the toppings! I loved the fruitty pebbles and the waffle itself was crispy on the outside and fluffy like a moist cake on the inside. Perched on top of the family waffle is an caramelized almond bark. The Taro was our favourite as it was very creamy and didn’t taste too artificial. The Butter Pandan Kaya tasted like a sea salt kaya, it was so good! I hope they sell this flavour with their regular offerings! The Pistachio and Swiss Chocolate were good as well. I definitely forsee myself coming back to try more gelato flavours. They also sell savoury waffles and all day breakfast sets!
