Always a good experience and the food is worth the wait! Especially for the stuffed mushrooms yum :)

The service was great! The atmosphere was good. The food was not so good or great… We had the salmon and the ribs: The ribs were average, and for $ 17, not worth it. The blackened salmon for $ 14 was dry. We came in at 4pm, so maybe we got the leftover lunch food or the chef was out? Again, the service was the only positive aspect. Of note, we did not complain(terrified of possible retaliation at any restaurant), but I am sure that our server would have tried to make it a better experience. Thanks! One other plus: they did not make the place extremely cold, like most restaurant.

This particular 54th street location is my favorite of all of them in San Antonio. I have always had perfectly cooked steak and pasta and fantastic service– both dining in and curbside pick-up. I tried the one on loop 410 but was disappointed — nowhere as good as this location on loop 1604. The manager checks on the customers to be sure all are satisfied. Like I said, I have never been disappointed here nor has my husband and we dine out several times each week. We would highly recommend this 54th Street location!

My hubby and I went there for lunch as I had received coupons in the mail. The theme of this place is movies with pictures and memorabilia. The selection on the menu was great, offering a little bit of everything. We started with the combo biggie basket. Everything was good, especially the«gringo dip.» However, I found a small toothpick in my tequila wrapper. And that’s why I’m only giving 4 stars. I also had the lunch combo with chicken salad and chicken tortilla soup. The chicken salad sandwich was just okay, but the soup was giant and delicious. We loved the giant glass mugs the drinks came in and our waitress provided excellent customer service. We will be visiting again. Great place for a casual date night.

BIG mistake going on Mother’s Day Sunday. AND with the Spurs on the TV. But we had no other choices as the wife had to work. I’m sorry, but I have no control over what day my wife’s birthday falls on. Oh well. Anyway, after the one hour wait(I was told one hour and forty-five minutes), we did get a table. The staff was busier than a one-eyed cat in a bird cage, but they were prompt, efficient, and friendly. I ordered the signature gringo dip and the fried mushrooms that you fellow Unilocalers have been raving about. The dip was AWESOME! Great flavor, not overseasoned and tasty, and even my oldest nephew really liked it(and he’s picky). The fried herb and garlic cream cheese-stuffed mushrooms are delicious! Delicately battered and deep-fried to golden perfection! I ordered a 54 Club, wife had her steak and tater. The 54 Club is a brisket and ham sandwich. Absolutely delightful! Even the mayo was tasty… sure didn’t taste like Hellmann’s. ;-) We intended to try the crème brûlée cheesecake, but we were so full that we couldn’t even finish our mains. Service was spot on. Even though they were VERY busy with Mom’s Day and the Spurs, they stayed on top of things(I seriously apologize for not getting my server’s name). The reviews here accurately reflect the quality of 54th Street. Even though 54th has several locations around SAT and even in other cities, the quality is not diminished one iota, unlike other places that begin with one location that is superb, then diminish in quality as they open other locations. THANKYOU fellow Unilocalers for steering me in the right direction this time! Next up: Magnolia Pancake Haus.

5 Stars goes to our server Bobby. Ive been here 3 times and each time weve had different servers which we will never make that mistake again now that we have met Bobby. He made our 54th st visit amazing. He is funny, and on the ball. Never had to ask for refills once. Brought our food out fast and it was nice and hot. It was a gorgeous night out on the patio. The food i give 4 stars but it would be 5 if they lighten up on the salt in the beans. Thank you Bobby. Your the man. We will see u again and soon darlin.

This is my go-to place. Close to home. Bartenders(Steph) are fantastic! Very attentive and never leave you hungry or thirsty. Happy hour is great but like the regular crowd even more. Cool, relaxed neighborhood bar/restaurant.

This was our first time here and we are definitely coming back. We had originally entered Longhorn, however, after being seated and waiting for 15 minutes without even being offered water, we decided to leave. Don’t get me wrong, we are Longhorn regulars and understand the staff is busy. However, the table right next to us got to put their drink orders, bread brought to them, and food order during the entire 15 minutes we were sitting there. Starving and irritated we wobbled next door to 54th street. The waiting time was about 30 minutes, but we decided to stay. We figured the food must be good if all these people were waiting. Within 3 minutes of us being seated our waiter came to take our drink orders. He had a great attitude! A couple of minutes later he brought us bread and was ready to take our order. Although, the place was really busy our food came out in like 20 minutes. Granted, we were starving by that point, but the food was delicious. The manager later came and asked us about our experience, making sure we felt taken care of. All around all-star service! I’m always willing to take good customer service over good food, but in this case I don’t feel I had to compromise. Sorry Longhorn, 54th Street is our new go-to restaurant.

Oddly good in that I had low expectations when I came in. Had the buffalo chicken salad(or whatever it was called). It turned out to be very good and more food than I could eat.

Food was awesome. We had Crissy she was very friendly but came off a bit pushy. She brought us the bill before we had finished eating let alone if we could decide if we wanted dessert. She was very anxious to come by and pick up the tip… Tips not going anywhere. Some people are on lunch breaks but for us that was not the case some time to eat and enjoy our meal would have been nice.

This place is my favorite restaurant back home in Kansas City, and I finally found one in Texas! While visiting San Antonio I came across this 54th street! The food was just as good as the one back home. I usually get the 4play platter that’s has boneless wings, gringo dip, seasoned waffles fries, mozzarella sticks and chicken quesadillas! I absolutely Love the gringo dip it’s amazing and the prices are very reasonable.

I had the 24 oz. Shiner and was quite enough. I also tasted the Super Nachos which was very filling. There was enough toppings on the food which was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and would occasionally come by to ask who we were doing. We had a 15 min wait but it was worth it. I was there for happy hour so I’m sure that’s the reason it was packed. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Came here because I was craving boneless wings and I am so upset! I placed a to go order and when I get back home, I see they messed up my wings. I ordered the boneless mild wings NOTPLAIN and when I get all the way back home from the restaurant, I see the gave me PLAIN, DRY chicken wings. I am sooooo upset! I will NOT be returning to this restaurant. What a waste of almost $ 12 because its going in the trash! …PISSED!

I went here recently to celebrate my birthday with two good friends of mine. There are always so many choices to choose from on the menu, but decided to choose the Monterey Chicken Sandwich. Although it didn’t look that big when it was brought to the table, it was a thick chicken breast and had plenty of meat. I give it two thumbs up. Of course I had to have my «go to» Long Island Iced Tea. Don’t even need to say how good that was. I’bb be back.

54th allows for great vibes thanks to lively décor, a nice bar setup, and numerous dining areas each with its own feel. Menu offerings are plenty and service generally satisfactory; however, the majority of 54th’s dishes — even the most basic and commonplace ones(i.e. whether an appetizer, salad/soup, entrée, or dessert) — are downright expensive. In my opinion, the overall taste and quality of all of 54th’s food options has simply never justified their prices. For this very reason, I continue finding myself instead at BJ’s on the other side of 1604. Not only does BJ’s offer a more intimate, classy atmosphere, but more importantly far tastier eats and drinks. Ultimately, you can’t go wrong with 54th, but more often than not, I consider BJ’s much better a value.

I am crazy for the Gringo Dip but I always leave wishing I had gone elsewhere. Last night, I started with ordering a martini. Almost 10 minutes later someone else approached the table and asked if I had been helped. I told him I thought I had been. He disappeared and my Martini arrived — I placed my order. My waiter disappeared and I noticed that the glass was chipped on the one side and was going to point it out to him but couldn’t find him. My entrée arrived and although I ordered with an upgrade to the cross-cut fries and gringo dip, it arrived without it. I told the waitress who left. Nobody checked in with me until I had finished my meal when the waiter finally asked how was everything. I mentioned that I had ordered the meal with gringo dip and he said they are working on it. Finally, it arrived, just as I was finished my entrée. I had ordered the Italian sandwich and it was a disappointment. Besides the gringo dip, not sure why I go there anymore.

So other locations are a different story, I really like 54th Street. But this location is a JOKE. Walked in around 730, and there was a 25 minute wait, so we decided to find a place in the bar area. There were probably about 6 tables free, yet they hadn’t been touched since the previous customers left it– I.e., is anyone bussing these tables? Wtf? So we had to squeeze in at the bar counter. Got drinks and waited for a table. 10 minutes later we sit down, only to have the apparently dense bartender rack her brain as to us wanted to add our drinks to our meal tab. And somehow didn’t understand that we didn’t have a tab, and, ugh. Food was good though, the waitress who served us the rest of the night was good as well. They just need to step the hell up in managing the floor.

It baffles me how different this location & the one on 410 is… 1604 is now the location we’ll head to, of course when it’s not busy b/c it’s annoying they don’t give out wait times. Our server — Adam — was on point! He’d only been at 54th St for a month and he knew the menu really well: up charges for swapping sides, good appetizers to order(and the sauces that came with everything), etc. He chatted with us since it wasn’t busy and he’s a really nice guy. Prompt with refills and checking on us. We could see him walking around which was nice in case we needed something; you know servers who hide the whole time — yeah he’s not like that. On to where we sat — it was beautiful weather so we wanted to sit outside but due to how the patio is situated, it was like a wind tunnel so we sat in the open door bar area. Since is was so windy, all of the smoke from cancer sticks was coming inside. Gross! It did put a damper on our experience. Patios should be like office building entrances: no smoking within 20 feet of the building. In all, I’d go back to this location & ask to be sat in Adam’s section; fingers crossed he’s working! Plus maybe sit in the regular part of the restaurant. But bring a sweater… It’s freezing inside!
