Avoid this place at all costs! If you eat here you can expect to be sick. That having been said. This was always a place for ok Chinese food at a super low price. The staff was always friendly. However those low prices come at a sacrifice to food quality and poor food handling. We rolled the dice and lost this last time with severe enough food poisoning to earn us a trip to the emergency room. On 10÷6÷2013 this place served up food poisoning.

This is a Chinese food buffet, and seems to be staffed by actual Asian people, which is a change from several of the other Chinese food places I have eaten in San Antonio. The atmosphere is a bit grungy, and this is not a very impressive place to eat. The buffet lines seem clean, and I have not had a reason to really complain about any one thing, décor-wise, in the handful of times I have eaten here the past few months. My remark about the staff, was to highlight that they would seem to know what the food should taste like, but this is more Asian cuisine than actual Chinese food, like you can find elsewhere. There are a surprising number of dishes with jalapeño medallions instead of a more normally used pepper. They have a decent selection of dishes, and I guess they have a Mongolian barbecue station but it is not obvious or ever appears to be staffed. They have a few«other» dishes available, like salad, sushi, fried chicken and some other dishes I don’t recall at the moment. This is not a fantastic place, but has a decent buffet, if you don’t mind Texas style Chinese food. It is certainly filling for the price, which is ~$ 8 for the buffet, plus drink.

I was really impressed with China Village. My wife and I stopped in for lunch one day after driving around. We were unsure what we wanted for lunch and we saw China Village Buffet, «OK it has been a long time since we ate at a Chinese buffet lets give it a shot.» When we got in the layout was awesome. Everything was so open. The wait staff was very friendly. I don’t believe my drink got below half empty. The food was really good as well. I was shocked. Usually when we pick a buffet it means we couldn’t decided on one thing. The sushi was even better than expected. That was a shock. Usually buffet sushi is pretty nasty. My only issue with the restaurant is they have signs everywhere that say if your child is under the age of 12 or 10 «I can’t remember which» they must be accompanied by an adult. They did not enforce this. There was a family with 4 young children that ran around the buffet area the entire time my wife and I were there. In one way I understand them being a little lacks on the policy. However, when the children are almost running you over while you are getting food or have a plate full of food, something needs to be done. I would eat here again for sure. If I ran into the situation again I would probably talk to the manager.

I was in the neighborhood visiting the lover for his lunch break and decided to go to «his favorite Chinese restaurant». Once we arrived, I realized«Oh, you mean Buffet!» I don’t know why, but I’ve reached a turning point in my life particularly with Chinese buffets. I’m pretty much over them like McDonald’s and Taco Bells. This restaurant has a nice atmosphere with a stellar view, at 1130 am, found chairs and tables slightly dirty and most of the food was kinda cold. Cold food is OK for my 4 year old, but not for adults! With its low key environment, TVs in every corner, numerous assortment of chicken and desserts I know why my man comes so often. I just wish I could say it was for the amazing food.

I’m not of fan of buffets period. But my husband feels the need every once in a while and since this one was the closest, we tried it out. It’s relatively clean and the food is average which is actually rare in the world of chinese buffets. If I had to get dragged back to one again, I’d pick China Village because it’s cheap and edible.

Best Chinese buffet I’ve been to in 10 years. We tried all we could find in San Antonio and this is not only not bad, they’ve got really good food. Service was not to die for due to the language barrier but drink refills were frequent and quick. To top it off the bill for 2 was only about $ 25.
