Had been meaning to go for quite sometime but finally took the time to have lunch today. Absolutely one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The crab stuffed avocado with salad with bleu cheese dressing was superb. Avocado was served over black rice and the flavors melded perfectly. Finished the meal with Italian cream cake which was served with the lightest, sweetest cream. The other diner had the grilled tilapia which was very tasty. For foodies who appreciate good food that is off the beaten path and not a chain. Was worried it might take too long(as we were starving) but was a nice pace with pause for reflection and conversation with the owners. Atmosphere casual and inviting with a quirkiness. I’ve traveled extensively and know good food — this is tops.

If you are driving through San Angelo on the way to Austin, eat here. It’s on the way out. Most amazing experience ever. They have a teacup poodle groomed like a lion, artisan tea, and AMAZING food. I had the fried avocado. It was half an avocado(skinned/seeded), seed hole stuffed with cream cheese and top covered in shredded chicken. The whole thing is battered and fried then served on top of Japanese black rice smothered in cheese sauce. I also had split pea soups. Best ever. Amazing. Keep them in business! Quirky owners were a hoot too.

My wife and I live in Abilene but was visiting San Angelo and wanted to find a unique place to have lunch. We were not disappointed! It was like going to someone’s historical house. The owners are incredibly nice and the food was incredible as well. My wife had the Waldorf Salad and it was large and very delicious(I had a bite) and I had a Reuben Sandwich with salad. It was the best Reuben I have had. We shared one dessert, the banana nut bread pudding with homemade raspberry ice cream and are taking home the pinapple upside down cake. Bobby and Terry will make you feel at home. We will be back the next time we are in San Angelo.

This place had great service and it was an interesting dining experience because of Terry. I ordered the deep fried avocado with crabmeat filling dish that came with basmati rice. It was delicious and something that I have never tried before. My friend ordered a sandwhich and was impressed. I’d definitely return and make sure to call in to ensure that seating is available because the dining area is small and sort of intimate as result.

Visited San Angelo and wanted to try all the city had to offer. The Butlers Pantry was highly recommended to us. We brought our two young daughters(age 4 and 5). Although I wouldn’t say it is a kid friendly place, the owner was very accommodating. The décor is eclectic at best. It feels like you are in someone’s home(which you are). It is definitely not polished. Just a house full of stuff that happens to also be a food establishment. The food was wonderful. I had the pecan bacon sandwich; similar to a BLT but the bacon is stepped up a notch. It came with a side salad. I ordered the homemade cilantro-lime dressing. It was amazing. They should bottle and sell that stuff! My girls had a tuna sandwich and homemade broccoli cheese soup. The soup was also very tasty! My husband ordered the Texas Chef Salad. They were out of asparagus so they subbed a crab cake, unexpected. He was not so impressed with the flavor combinations. I’m going with four stars because the menu for lunch was overpriced. I basically had a BLT and half a side salad for 11.50. Our total for three meals(my girls split theirs) was Over $ 40 for lunch, not including tip. The tea is NOT homemade. I saw the owner mixing it from a can of Lipton and maybe adding some peach flavor. Last the bathroom was like being in my grandpas bathroom– complete with hairbrush full of grey hair. It was a major turn off. Overall the food is great but overall experience was just ok.

Great hidden Gem. Not your typical restaurant from the second you walk in you know you stumbled upon something special.

When you drive up it looks like a kinda run down house that could definitely use some yard maintenance so we were unsure if we wanted to go in but I’m definitely glad we did! The inside is very eclectic and looks like the inside of your grandmas house. Once we were greeted by the owners we knew we were in for an experience, and couldn’t wait to try the food. Everything there is homemade, down to the iced tea… No pre bottled stuff here! We ordered the special of the day, cabbage rolls and the chicken-stuffed deep fried avocado. Our meal started with fresh warm bread and orange marmalade butter, perfect start. The avocado came with black Japanese rice, fresh green tossed salad and a black cherry«jello/pudding» type thing… I wouldn’t think to put those items together but it was amazing! Best lunch I’ve had in months!!! Definitely recommend getting your girlfriends together and checking this place out, you won’t be disappointed!

Don’t know why so many good reviews were filtered, but my visit definitely deserves 5 starts. Personal service, great food, and they have this thing with an avocado… so good. It’s like a tea room. Good food that reminds you of gramma’s house when she was trying to impress some guests or something. I was only in town for the week and we tried several(disgusting) places and wish we had found this one first. I would totally recommend this place for lunch but they only have like four or five tables, so try to make a reservation or you might go hungry. Oh, and also, they make it all right there so don’t be in a hurry. You’ll be late back to work and you don’t want to scarf this yummy food.

A little reality check… this place is very nice but there’s a reason the prices are so low: *whispers* I think they buy their ingredients from the«day old» shelf down at Albertson’s. :O This actually happened on my one and only visit there. I was served some bread before my salad came out and upon taking a slice I noticed mold. Not just the white stuff, but the green stuff. While I waited for the gentleman who was waiting on me to come back, I got to thinking… what else isn’t quite fresh? Do they check their stock regularly? Why would you serve something you hadn’t visually inspected? The waiter came back and I made a light joke about the situation, trying to save face for everyone involved. The gentleman apologized and quickly took the bread back muttering«Damn, Albertson’s…» Yeah, you thought I was just making a gross assumption, eh? Anywho, I picked at my food but didn’t really feel like eating after that. No attempt was made to comp the meal or invite me back for another try. *shrugs* Not a biggie since I’m just going to let this one go by the wayside. It’s a shame really, because it seems like this place has it all; ambiance, lovely garden area with windchimes and fountains. But if I can’t trust the kitchen, that’s that.

We had a baby shower at Butler’s Pantry last week and couldn’t have been happier. They were completely prepared for our number of people(10 – 12 total), and turned the food out quickly while ducking in between baby shower games to refill water/tea, etc. The best part was they actually had us in a whole room to ourselves, and routed traffic around our room so as to not interfere with the shower. The Brie/Asparagus Grilled Sandwich was heavenly, and so was the Asparagus Soup. If you go, they’re iced tea of the day is a must. Thanks for a great time Butler’s Pantry!

I am always looking for a good restaurant with wholesome, delicious food at a reasonable price. Well, here is where you will find this and much, much more. I went there for my first visit today as I was invited by my friend who has very good taste and knows that everything counts for me. She picked a winner. First impressions were very good as the place was very clean and there were plenty of pretty things to look at and admire. The tables were laid up nicely with good quality napery, crockery and cutlery. The music was pleasant and calming. The staff were delightful and very caring and attentive. I had peach champagne on arrival and then ordered a salad with shrimp and remoulade sauce. When the plate arrived it was so attractive and everything tasted so fresh. The prices are exceptionally reasonable. I will definitely go back again and I have already spread the good news about this restaurant to many of my friends.

Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago. This restaurant is an old house turned into a dining place. The place has numerous knick knacks for sale there. The whole atmosphere was very quaint and comforting. I went to this place expecting to spend an arm and a leg because everything was prepared fresh from scratch. Not so. There were hardly any entries on the menu that went over $ 10. I ordered a salad with homemade dressing. Delcious. My family members I went with all commented how fresh the food tasted. I will definitely look forward to coming here again.

This place took a long time to open, but it was well worth the wait! A house turned restaurant, inside is a collection of decorations for sale ranging from chandeliers to music boxes. A very interesting and beautiful design that adds a sort of enchanting atmosphere. Wonderful for the holidays or for a date. The owner talked with us a little, happy to answer any questions about the menu and offer his story of how he came to create the restaurant with his partner. His presence made the lunch even more memorable. The Butler’s Pantry offers a wide range of wines and other alcoholic beverages as well as various flavored coffees and hot or cold teas. The ‘tea of the day’ was watermelon mango which was very good and refreshing. The menu has items great for lunch and for dinner. I went with my mom and sister so I was able to try three different things. Because of the shopping spree to follow, I wanted to order something somewhat cheap. I got the chicken salad sandwich with bacon and avocado($ 7.75). It tasted very fresh and was filling. My sister ordered a chicken salad. I forget the name. It was also very good. It had a sort of chili seasoning with cheese covering it. All dressings(aside from ranch) were made from scratch. The extra effort paid off. I think I could have drowned my salad in their balsamic dressing. Dessert was absolutely amazing. We all shared the cranberry orange bread pudding with ice cream. One of those desserts you never forget and always crave. Served hot so the ice cream slowly melted and mixed right in. just how it should be! There is limited seating and I’m pretty sure you have to call ahead for reservations for dinner. We happened to get there during a slow lunch hour and were seated instantly. I’m not entirely sure of how that works though. Prices range from $ 7−10+. Closed Sundays!
