Everything was tasty. I’ve been to 5 Star restaurants and this one is very close to the best I’ve had. We celebrated my birthday with a Ribeye and a Fillet Mignon medium and they were just excellent. The sides were very good too.

Fantastic food! Fresh ingredients and great sandwich and salad combinations. The homemade desserts and soups are also delicious.

One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The Peasant has deliciously spiced chicken and is topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. It also comes with pepper jack cheese. It’s a bit messy, but it’s worth the mess! Hubby has been to the Peasant and vouches for a number of different sandwiches, but the Donkey is his favorite. Sweet tea is the perfect compliment to the spice of the Peasant’s pico!

This place does excellent sandwiches for lunch. The sandwiches can be s bit sloppy but the portion sizes are generous and tasty. Make sure you get there early!

Dinner Review***I hate to do this to one of the«Gems» of San Angelo… But I think this place forgot it was in… San Angelo. We’re not in New York or San Fran or even Seattle. This is west Texas… No one needs to take themselves that seriously. No salt or pepper on the tables? Menus that don’t even tell you what sides you’re getting? Overly priced blah meat? Check.Check.Check. We went there for a date night and were overall disappointed. The portions are small and the food lacks taste… It’s not terrible but it’s boring. Maybe some salt could have helped it. Also what is with the guy walking around trying to sell his paintings? I’m all for small businesses and the arts but for 100.00 for 2 people I’d like to not have to hide from the random guy interrupting my dinner.

Treated horrible at lunch. The service was so bad I had to leave before. Have been going here for dinner for 15 years, will never return. Do not go here!!!

Besides having some of the best sandwiches at lunch time, dinner is outstanding! I am from Houston where there are so many restaurants to choose from, I would rate Peasent Village up with the best in Houston! Chief/Owner Jason is a master of his trade, creative and you can see he loves what he does! His staff are warm and welcoming making you feel like you are part of this little family. Everything is bought fresh and delicious. You don’t have to dress fancy, but dinner is Reservation ONLY, but go in enjoy a adult beverage, have a little sushi and a wonderful meal. Menu changes at least once a month.

First time here and I was very impressed. I love trying out small, non-chain delis. I haven’t had a sandwich /hoagie this good in a while. I had the Peasant hoagie and loved it. It was a bit of a wait, but totally worth it! Came back for their dinner menu the same day — I’ll let you know how it was…

**This review is for the lunch menu. The sandwiches we ordered were ok. My husband’s club was thick and juicy, but I didn’t like my Reuben very much. There was hardly any dressing or cheese, but it was piled a mile high with sour kraut. I like more of a balance between the three. The sour kraut made it extremely unpleasant to eat for me. I had to scrape some off. The helping of corned beef was generous however. Since this is my personal preference on a sandwich, I didn’t complain. I will just order the club next time if we come back. My husband’s club was AMAZING. It was savory and perfectly proportioned — and the smoked turkey… juicy and amazing! I should have ordered that. The food here is VERY pricey. We spent $ 30 on two sandwiches, a small cup of soup, and two drinks. The French onion soup was piping hot and delicious! Four stars for the food. If you are a sensitive person or if you enjoy good customer service, do NOT go to this restaurant. Their goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible, and they really do not care if they are being rude to you. The Hispanic girl behind the register has no people skills, and several times, I want to yell back at her for embarrassing me in front of others by speaking down to me since my husband and I had never been before. She explained the process at the top of her lungs, and then she further insulted me by telling me «I needed to listen to directions.» The hallway was packed full of people talking, and so my issue wasn’t really the directions… It was that between her yelling and the people talking, I couldn’t understand what she was saying. Zero stars for customer service. We’ll probably be back, but if that girl is still rude to us, I won’t tip them again. Being quick is one thing — being rude is another.

So let me preface this by stating this is a Dinner Review. I have not visited them for their sandwiches. So, we decided on going to Peasant Village an evening after work with our group of 7. First look this place looks great, a live singer outside playing her guitar for the guests and singing softly. However, once you go inside it blocks out her voice and makes me question why she’s out there to begin with, when we could have enjoyed her much more inside. Second, we enter in the main room and the small house has sections for their tables. With a large menu on a chalkboard type presentation that sits in a chair by the table. I will state that the prices of the food, is very very high. More so than it was worth. Our group got a few different appetizers, which tasted fine. But again were extremely expensive. I started out with a glass of Moscato, and a cup of the french onion soup. Both were fine, and probably the highlight of the experience there. The dinner menu is relatively small, about 10 entrees total. All of them priced way too high for the amount of food you receive. I ended up choosing the chicken and waffles which for me I was skeptical about. And a few others at the table ended up with the same and a few others tried the seafood and pork. I was extremely irritated at the fact that it took nearly an hour for us to receive our food. With the excuse of «we are waiting on the waffles.» Last time I stepped into a kitchen. it takes less than 3 minutes to make a belgium waffle. But then again 2 years in upscale food service must have lied to me. When the food finally came out, I look at this tiny plate in front of me. with 3 chicken tenders and about a ¼ of a belgium waffle. With a price tag of nearly $ 20. I was more than irritated at the wait, the value, and the overall experience at Peasant Village. Some at our table didn’t like the food, because it was poorly seasoned(The Mahi) and unfortunately after waiting about an hour for food. The desire to re-order something less terrible it was unappealing. To say that I was disappointed in Peasant Village is an understatement. In my honest opinion, I may go back to try the deli, as that’s where all of the actually good reviews are. But I will not be returning back to Peasant Village for anything other than that. In my opinion they should probably just stick to the sandwiches. Save your money, there are better places to go in town that offer faster service, better food, and more food for your money. The Grill would probably be a better place to try.

Got the dirty mike the Chipotle mayo and Frank’s red hot really set the sandwich off right. If you like a sandwich with a lot of deli meat this is the one for you. There was ample seating and the staff was kind and curteoues.

Holy guacamole. I’ve been living in Austin for 2 years. I still think about the Wild Yetti sandwhich and have yet to find anything like it here in Austin. This is the Apex of sandwich shops. This is an incredible place for San Angelo. I’ve never gotten a bad sandwich and it’s safe to say I’ve tried at least 15 different ones. A place like this would compete in the Austin market in the right location. It can be a little confusing if this is your first time here. Go to the bar, get a menu, and look for 2 lines. The left one is to order and the right line is to pick up your order. Get here early!!! This is a Mecca for Central high school students and the GFAFB. And whatever you do, don’t take this place for granted. Jason, the chef and owner, is the man, and he’s a swell guy if you ever meet him. I remember this place when it was a little bar. To see what it’s turned into is bizarre. Ps: Mail me a wild Yetti. Pretty please with sugar on top.

* only have been there for lunch BUT I, for some reason was nervous because people said staff is rude but you basically just need to have your stuff together before you order and not sit and ponder about what you’re getting. I have been to peasant village just about everyday for about two weeks… It has become an issue hahahaha i crave it. Only thing I’ve gotten was the chicken salad sandwich on jalapeño cheddar bread and whatever soup they have. It is the kind of sandwich you say you’d eat everyday if you’re on a stranded island… people keep telling me to try the ladder and this and that. no thanks, hard pass. Now they just need to be open Saturday more importantly Sunday’s. Just like Sunday’s when you want chick fil a. Bummer every weekend

Everyone in San Angelo apparently already knows, but in case you are just stopping through, like I was, this is the very best the city has to offer in terms of fine food. If you eat there for dinner, the atmosphere is pleasant and calm. If you go for lunch, they have a sandwich menu and a hectic two-lane line down a narrow hallway where if you get to the front of the line and need a moment to decide what you want, you get sent to the back of the line. Absolutely worth it, though. I had three meals at this place during my one-week stay, and I left distraught that I would have to live in a place like San Angelo in order to get the kind of food and service this place has: P I had the opportunity to get to know Jason, the owner and head chef, and found that he is really friendly and approachable. Both times that I was dining in the evening, Jason would walk through the restaurant greeting patrons, and on the day I showed up outside the restaurant when it was closed, he took the time to chat with me and give me a recommendation on where to eat. Must be hard for him, knowing nothing in town can stack up to the stuff that comes out of his kitchen. As for the front of house, the entire staff was awesome to me, and on the time when my dinner was made by someone other than Jason, the cook(I want to say it was Andrew? Sorry if I got that wrong!) was kind enough to come out and let me gush about hiw perfect the steak was. Kevin, who I think is the head waiter, was super cool as well, and was on top of things the whole time. It’s not often that I leave a restaurant feeling that I had made friends of the whole staff. The last night I ate there before heading home, Jason told me that little mom and pop restaurants like his were really giving large establishments a run for their money. After a few meals at the Peasant Village, I’m going to have to disagree. Restaurants like his are blowing them away. You guys rock !

Delicious food in a tasteful setting. Who knew a quaint house in San Angelo would serve the most memorable meal I’d have in a long time? I ordered steak and the crawfish queso appetizer. The crawfish was unbelievable! The fantastic blend of cheeses with a hint of wine went perfectly with the crawfish. Scooping out bites with the toasted baguette slices was such a joy. The sirloin I ordered was tasty but I quickly learned I should have ordered some of their more involved dishes. My girlfriends sea bass was one of the best dishes I’ve ever tried! A huge, delicately grilled piece of bass served with a creamy caper sauce, I can’t describe how great the flavor of this fish is. So I won’t, but everything here was totally delicious. I can’t imagine anyone leaving here short of being totally impressed.

This dish was excellently prepared. All of the different flavors complimented each other so well. The Chocolate Mouse Cake is a must try, it was spectacular. The restaurant is inside of an old 1940s house. It was a relaxing set up, I enjoyed my evening. One bad thing: parking sucks.
