Came here with my girlfriend and we enjoyed ourselves. The ambiance is nice and the food is even better. I had the Wood Grilled Pork Chop with Rice and Beans. We also tried the Shrimp and Goat Cheese Crepes. Delicious. We went during lunch time and they were offering a $ 17 lunch special! LOVETHAT! The house salad is the ! Our waitress was outstanding. I wish I remembered her name, but we went to Bourbon street right after… So my memory isn’t that great! LOL! Don’t judge me. Food: 5⁄5 Service: 6⁄5 Ambiance: 5⁄5 I will be back.

When giving friends from out of town a tour of the French Quarter, one can only expect they want some classic New Orleans dishes. I’ve been here a couple of times, but they were the ones that wanted to go, due to their lunch special. It’s a nice, well know restaurant that offers a 17.00 lunch special that includes a soup or salad, entrée, and the option for a 4.00 Bloody Mary or martini. I got the Bloody Mary and it was a great size for the price. It was spicy and hit the spot. They text message you when your table is ready, so were able to walk around the quarter while we waited. Thank god a lot of restaurants are getting rid of the those buzzers that make you feel like you are under house arrest. We sat down to a beautiful table right by the open shutters. The servers, were ok. They were busy, but forgot a couple of things we asked for. It was still a great experience though! I got the pork chop with red beans and the turtle soup. The turtle soup was one of the best I have had. The pork chop was cooked to perfection and the read beans were seasoned very well. It came with cornbread, but it was very dry. After this lunch at noon, I didn’t find myself hungry till it was basically time for bed. It was a very generous portion and well worth the money. Muriel’s is a great way to get a classic, good quality New Orleans meal at a decent price. The location is spectacular, and the history behind the restaurant made for great conversation at the table. Definitely check it out if you are in the Quarter!

What a wonderful restaurant. Cute, unique atmosphere, great service(Travis and Madee were our staff), an interesting story, and of course… delicious food! Our party of 4 all had the 3-course tasting menu. Most started with the crawfish and goat cheese crepes(mmm!!) and I had the Gorgonzola cheesecake(so flavorful). Our entrees were equally amazing: pecan-crusted drum, shrimp and grits, and the largest pork chop I’ve ever seen! For dessert, we tried the unique King Cake specialty dessert filled with cherries and covered in a cream sauce — amazing!

Sat for lunch at the bar, and I had the pork chop with sweet potato purée and spinach in a sweet glaze. The ambiance is classy and elegant, they had appropriately inspired live music in the main dining room, and the waitstaff is friendly and funny. I would rate the place a 4 for ambiance and service, 3– for food.

This place lived up to the hype. I’m giving 5 stars due to the team having the holy trifecta for a restaurant. Food quality, presentation, service, and décor. Most places are lacking in one of the four areas. A successful business has exceptional skills in one or 2. Muriel’s staff decided to do it all while they’re here. The host and hostesses who greeted us were nothing short of charming. When seated we had 2 servers. I’m not sure if the 2 servers were shift overlap or for training purposes. If one of them was training I couldn’t tell. They both provided great food and drink tips. The tables were spaced well, even for a large guest like me. The chairs looked antique but were very comfortable. The wall treatments and pictures were tasteful. I recommend heading upstairs to check out the lounge and patio. As you head up, pay your respects to the ghosts table, they may be in attendance. Now to talk about the food and it’s presentation. The goat cheese and shrimp crêpe was an excellent appetizer. Nice portion size, good overlaying presentation, excellent taste. It took us some self control not to lick the plate. The crab cake wasn’t what I expected. But it was very tasty. Our main courses were tastefully presented, mine even artful, however we tore into them once we tasted our meals. The menu is relatively short but they execute it well. Overall, if you’re a local or a visitor, I’d highly recommend adding this place to your culinary experience. You can’t go wrong.

Muriel’s is delicious! A cute upscale restaurant that serves fresh, authentic New Orleans style food. The turtle soup was so good — some of the best I have ever had. Great location too, went to café du monde for desert! This place is a must!

Delightful Sunday jazz brunch! Made reservations for our family of 5 at 11am sharp so there was no wait. I appreciated that the jazz band moved room to room doing about a 20 minute set. This way you could enjoy the music, but also conversation at the table! My personal favorite were the goat cheese crepes with shrimp(and my 1 year old agrees). Hubby ordered the sizable pork chop. Though not cheap, the atmosphere was lovely, the service top notch, and the portions large and filling. Great value overall!

The restaurant itself is adorable and a great atmosphere. The servers when you asked them a question were nice but standoffish otherwise. We got there right before close after our Ghost Tour was over. No hauntings, sorry. But you can tell they are putting their eggs in the haunted restaurant gimmick basket and not in the food. The gumbo was luke warm but okay. I really wasnt that hungry so I just ate the gumbo. I can’t say, maybe their entrees were spectacular and I missed out. Their bread pudding is tasty but sweet. All in all a place to eat at once.

Having been either on-call or out-of-town, in Texas or Florida; we needed a Muriel’s «fix». Goat cheese crepes w/shrimp, shrimp Pontalba, fresh salad, cheese bread, & du vin really did the trick ! Now, on to Hotel Provincial for the after Saints loss party ! But, up to Muriel’s balcony for bread puffin’ ’ first. Somebody has to do this ! Rick

The only reason Muriel’s is getting 2 stars is because it is New Year’s Eve and I am cutting them a break. This was honestly a dining 1 star experience from appetizer to salad to entrée to dessert. The staff was the only saving grace! The hostesses were friendly, efficient, and professional under trying conditions of a NYE crowd, and our waiter was empathetic and apologetic for the food the kitchen was sending out. $ 230.00/couple is not inexpensive, but this fare was truly the worse food I have had in this City of exceptional chefs and restaurants. There is no excuse for delivering this quality of food at ¼ the price.

Absolutey gorgeous little restaurant on Jackson Square. Very picturesque, old-fashioned, classic. Good food, good service. I had the shrimp and goat cheese crepes and a salad. There isn’t really such a thing as a light lunch in New Orleans, but this was as close as I was getting to it! Perfect place to sit and have a meal while you explore the French Quarter.

Came here with a relatively large party of 8. Right when we settled in, immediately I noticed that the service was relatively slow. They took. Long time to get to our orders and to bring us our food. They had a 3 course meal for $ 39.95 or 4 course meal for $ 48, and I decided on the 3 course meal. Started off with the goat cheese and shrimp crêpe appetizer. I immediately regretted it when I got it. It was a good crêpe, don’t get me wrong, but it was so simple and I wish I had ordered something else. My entrée was the shrimp scampi. They gave generous portions and the shrimp were large and juicy. The center had some grits that were quite tasty. After finishing, I was concerned since I was still hungry. For dessert, my friend got the bread pudding which was delicious and scrumptious. I ended up going with the Vanilla crème brûlée — the top was perfectly glazed and the crème brûlée itself wasn’t too sweet. This was definitely my favorite part of the meal! Service: overall, very disappointed with the service for a restaurant that markets itself as an upscale place. The food came out slowly and the waitress we had literally looked angry the whole time and was just leaning on the side of the register, looking bored. She also wouldnt split our check more than 4 ways and when she did split it 4 ways, she completely did it wrong and ended up charging everybody wrong items! Overall: Slightly Overpriced for what you get and the quality is mediocre at best.

This was an excellent stop for a «light» meal before going to hear John Boutte at the Cathedral! Yes, the quotes around light are there for a reason… Anyway, I’ve been wanting to try Muriel’s and eat escargot and Sunday was the perfect opportunity. The basket of brioche they brought to the table, though! Yummy and, I understand, baked in-house. The Sazeracs were good. The soup of the day was sweet potato with poached pear and caramelized pecans. The escargot appetizer was really good and really rich. It came on pastry that was really buttery and drenched in a gravy, sauce, thing. The snails themselves had a grilled-oyster type of texture, they were perfectly cooked. *burp* The service was excellent. They were attentive but not overly so and very nice. My water glass did not languish. I wonder if they have a happy hour?

This place was so yummy and decently priced. I felt that the escargot would have been better as traditional escargot but the playing was nice. You can dine with the ghost(former owner of the mansion who killed himself on their 2nd floor) for an additional $ 50. The table is by itself in a cold dungeony room.

Delicious Sunday jazz brunch in a beautiful setting! Attire is business casual and service was very friendly. They also have some of the best bread I’ve ever had in a bread basket– it reminded me of challah or another sweet type of egg bread. Solid fried green tomatoes and bloody mary’s. I ordered the Louisiana Duck & Chaurice Hash which was just delicious. My friend had their amazing fried oysters topped with poached eggs over a caper spinach sauce. But the stand out dish were the shrimp and grits. The best I’ve ever had by a long shot, there was so much flavor! I’m not even a huge fan of grits but that sauce really won me over. We also had some type of warm bread pudding dessert that made us all go wild.

Yum! My friend and I were visiting for the weekend and had planned on attending Sunday Jazz brunch at Antoine’s. At the suggestion of a friend, we changed over to Muriel’s(and though we never ate at Antoine’s, we were super happy at Muriel’s). Two local friends joined us and we were seated promptly and immediately asked if we wanted some brunch libations. I opted for a mimosa, which was chilled and fruity, while H got a bloody mary(spicy and sharp) and S ordered a brandy milk punch(sweet, like a melted milkshake). For our meals, I went for a bowl of the soup of the day, which was a sweet potato and sweet corn soup — delicious — and the shrimp and grits. The grits were sinfully creamy(seriously, I’m never eating grits prepared in the northeast ever again) and the shrimp were spiced wonderfully and cooked just until tender. I also got to try the gorgonzola cheesecake, which was such a weird but delicious dish and the crawfish and goat cheese crepes. J ordered the three course meal which came with an amazing turtle soup(ask for a drizzle of sherry because it makes it so much better), some sort of fish-based stew(so good), and bread pudding, which was out of this world. Seriously, the bread pudding was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The only disappointment was S’s eggs benedict because the yolks were cooked solid. But hey, maybe that’s how the chef likes it. However, I think poached egg yolks should always be runny; but I’m just a runny yolk gal. The service is impeccable — I mean, at one point, H got up to go to the ladies’ and at some point between her standing up and sitting back down, one of the staff had come over and folded her napkin back up for her. It must have been a ninja staff member because I did not even see it happen! The jazz is great, but honestly, I was kind of glad when the band rotated over to one of the other dining areas because it made it easier for us friends to have our conversation without raising our voices. But, I do think it’s a nice experience and worth attending at least once. But even without the jazz, the food is delicious so I highly recommend a visit.

We came here for a bachelorette dinner and had a great experience. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating for a group our size. A majority of our group opted for the the prefix option $ 39.95 for an app, entrée and dessert which was more than reasonable. I went with the escargot, double cut pork chop and the crème brûlée. The escargot app was the stand out of my meal. It was served with fennel, leeks, mushrooms & smoked bacon sauteed in garlic butter with a flaky puff pastry. Ridiculous. The pork chop was a huge portion cooked perfectly and served with mashed sweet potatoes & greens. I enjoyed it but it’s definitely a heavy entrée choice. Not the meal to get if you’re trying to look cute in a dress but good nonetheless. By the time dessert came out I wasn’t uncomfortably stuffed but obviously had some of my crème brûlée. Always a solid dessert choice. Since we were in New Orleans for a bacholerette party and Halloween it was nice to have a civilized meal and a break from the craziness in the streets. Muriel’s has that old world southern charm you feel like you’re dining in someones home. Based on the bio online the building itself has been around since the 1700’s which I thought was pretty cool. Worth the visit if you’re in Nola.

We stumbled upon this little gem after we ended our ghost tour. The tour ended at this restaurant since this building is haunted. Food: we decided to try the three course meal for $ 39.99 per person. We started with the salad(which was very refreshing) and cheesecake(sounded good on the menu but it was too heavy for an appetizer). Our main courses were the mussels(perfect amount of mussels and pasta) and pork chop(wow this was very tender and tasty!!) and ended with crème brûlée(fantastic) and bread pudding(not a big fan). Service: I’m so impressed with the service here. Everyone is super friendly. Although we walked in 15 min before closing time, they did not rush us in any way. We also got to check out the«ghost table», which was cool. Definitely recommend it!

My gosh… Muriel’s is absolutely amazing! This was my first time that my once boyfriend and I had been to New Orleans, so we planned(1) fancy smancy dinner for the two of us. Muriel’s food and outdoor balcony came highly recommended, and we made an absolute perfect decision to have dinner at Muriel’s. We purchased the(3) course menu option and I had the most amazing crawfish, goat cheese crepes. with pork tenderloin for my meal and the bread pudding for dessert. Can you say heaven?! All of the food was so delectable and fresh. We were told they don’t serve dinner on the balcony anymore, so we decided to head up there afterwards to take in the sights of the town. While leisurely«people-watching» the artists in Jackson Square from the balcony my significant other decided to drop down to one knee an pop the ultimate question, «you want more cheese with those crepes?». Ha. Just kidding. We officially were engaged on May 11, 2015 and are currently planning a New Orleans themed/cajun wedding for November 12, 2016. Thanks so much for the great memories Muriel’s, we’ll be visiting again soon!

When you dine at Muriel’s, check to see if the 2nd level is open for visitors. If so, you can briefly tour the lounge area upstairs(red couches, decorative pieces). There’s a wrap-around balcony where you can get a great view of Jackson Square. If you’re curious, learn why Muriel’s is haunted and find out the story behind why there’s a table that is always set for two located near the stairs. There are two main dining rooms, a middle section(indoor patio dining area) that I personally prefer because it is quieter, and a bar area located at the back near the restrooms. I love the indoor patio dining area because it brings a bit of the outdoors in a quiet indoor setting. On my first visit, I ordered from the dinner pre-fix menu which is a great deal(appetizer or soup + entrée + dessert = $ 40). The seafood gumbo soup was hearty and delicious. The dijon mustard encrusted salmon was cooked perfectly. The bread pudding was a great way to end a delicious meal. I returned to Muriel’s for lunch on another NOLA trip and tried the wood grilled pork chop. The pork chop was flavorful, tender, and moist. I was not too crazy about the red beans and rice it was served with as I found it a bit bland. The entrée was served in a bowl but should perhaps be served on a plate since it was difficult to slice the pork chop since it kept sinking into the bed of red beans and rice. Muriel’s is one of the places I would love to return to because of the ambiance and the great food.
