This place is in my mind one of the best places ive been to, simply because the service was one of the best that ive experienced. If your the type of person who loves gumbo than this is the place to go to. This place wasn’t our original choice as our first choice Café du monde was packed, but I’m glad we came here as the service was excellent. My friends and I went with the gumbo, both of my friends went with the chicken and sausage which looked really good. I went with the seafood gumbo which was amazing there was a nice heat to eat and was definitely filling

Ordered the étouffée and Muffaletta. Bloody Mary and mimosa. Étouffée itself is a four star dish. ** only good thing we had, to include overall service and cleanliness ** The Muffaletta was below expectations. My mimosa was more juice than champagne. Bloody Mary was terrible. Our waitress had a poor attitude and lack of attention to the customers. Really brought us down. We sat next to the open windows across from Café Du Monde. Which was nice. Overall wouldn’t come back unless we couldn’t find a better Étouffée.

Our favorite breakfast place in New Orleans! Recommend jambalaya omelette. They serve breakfast all day! Great chicory coffee!

Even at noon on a Saturday, my family was seated immediately(party of 6). We got our drinks in a timely manner, & ordered very soon after. The place was packed, but our food came out very fast. The food was great. Everyone loved the meals they chose. My only complaint was that we had to wait a long time between refills, but that was very likely because the restaurant was so full. Overall, we had a great experience & would love to come back during future stays in NOLA.

Great location, food was good, sercive was terrible. I cannot even begin to explain the service. Waitress forgot the appetizers and drinks to start, she came over and asked how things were and we addressed that we haven’t had anything and she blamed the kitchen. Seems odd seeing she came to check how things but it’s the kitchens fault she didn’t bring out my drink after the fact. She brought the wrong food over twice and completely forgot another part of our order. It would be 1 star but the crawfish was good

Alright so the service wasn’t so bad but the food was a bit either to salty or watery. My chicken Alfredo was watery my brothers Mardi Gras pasta was a tad to salty and the gumbo was really salty that you couldn’t taste the spices. Over all it was ok.

My large family and I came here for lunch while we were touring the French Quarter. In short, this restaurant is awful. The only reason I gave it one-star is because I can’t rate it lower. And I think the only reason this restaurant is still in business is because its location(across the street from the famous Café DuMonde). Unknowing, hungry tourists keep this place open. After walking the FQ all morning on a very hot summer day, we stopped in here because we really hungry and need of someplace cool to refuel. The place was half-empty even though the FQ was teeming with tourists. I should have took this as a sign. Hungry kids clouded my judgement. Here are the high, er rather lowlights from the meal: — The house salad taste like something you get from McDonalds — The caesar salad is served with dressing on the side. Is there anything less appetizing then receiving a $ 10 bowl of lettuce? — The muffaletta sandwich is bland. I feel sorry for the tourist who comes to NOLA anticipating an authentic muffaletta sandwich. Note* got to Central Grocery — The crab cakes were inedible. The pale yellow(instead of golden brown) crust couldn’t have been less appetizing. It was telling that the server, a few minutes after dropping off our food, came back to ask us if everything was«pretty good?». Pretty good? Since when is that the level we’re hoping to achieve? I’ll also say that the service was generally poor too. Towards the end of the meal, our server disappeared for about 15-minutes. When she finally came back, I made a comment to which she defensively replied, «oh, well I told someone to tell you that I had to go to the bathroom. Visitors to the FQ — heed this advice and stay away. There are much better places to eat. Oren

I was not impressed. The pasta didn’t taste that great. We just went there because Café Du Monde was packed

Bad service and horrible food. The crab cakes were full of filler, the AC unit vents were leaking from the ceiling, and an order of a side of eggs was $ 4.95.

This is by far the worst dining experience in all of New Orleans. Save your money, save your digestive system and save yourself the gut-wrenching disappointment of culinary failure. Now don’t get me wrong, I can get down with junk food in a dive bar, but this was astoundingly terrible. One friend ordered the grilled chicken salad. They presented browned, wilted iceberg with stringy over cooked chicken. The honey mustard dressing was the neon yellow color of nacho cheese. Another friend got the«crab cakes.» They put down two fried patties in front of her. No decipherable crab could be seen — just fried breading the shape of rigid pancakes. And the red beans and rice. It was reminiscent of the slop one would find in an eating trough. And adorned atop was a split sausage ash gray in color. He spent the rest of the day in food induced labor pains. There are far too many great restaurants in New Orleans. This is atop the DONOTEATHERE list.

This place was the worst dining experience of my life. Terrible service, to the point that the server and manager yelled at us after complaining that we didn’t enjoy our food, food was tasteless and overpriced, and we were charged gratuity for 6 people even though we only had 5 people eating. Don’t go here. Don’t!!!

Bloody Mary was delicious, however lacked vodka! The crab cakes were deep fried and full of filler. Not what we expected. Would not recommend them. The oyster PO boy was full of oysters but the bread was dry.

Ended up here by default since Café du Monde was insane. Big mistake. Food subpar. Service even worse. Waitress left before everyone even ordered. One of our friends never got her food until after we were done eating ours. Utensils came five minutes after our food. Avoid this place at all costs. Wait in the line across the street.

GREAT food ! GREAT service ! My family stopped by here for breakfast and our server i think his name was«Jeremy» sorry if im gettibg it wrong he wore glasses if that helps, in any case he is truly an asset to this restaurant. I had a crab/shrimp lobster and it was really tasty. My cousin had some pasta with tomato creamy sauce and it was VERY good. Also try the french bread/toast…yummy. Price is good also.

so we were walking down the street and non of us could agree on a place to eat. We decided to ask these two police officers where would a good place be. Without a pause they both said«Rivers Edge». So naturally that is where we ended up… Not quite sure why though. The empty restaurant on Mardi Gras should have been an indicator that we should not have eaten here, while everyone else was packed. But we decided to trust the locals. To start off our great experience we had the most awful service, followed by the most awful fried food. Who can you mess up mozzarella sticks??? The marinara tasted of pure tomatoes paste, the fried mushroom caps were slimy. Half of the kitchen is in the bathroom hallways. pouring ice into bucket 10ft from where the urinals are. The whole experience was bad I am not even sure where else to go with this. It has become a running joke that the police officers were messing with us… This thought was confirmed today when we spoke to our waiter about Rivers Edge, and he made the most disgusted face and then proceeded to tell he used to work there. He would never recommend anyone go there. Lesson learned. Do not go to Rivers Edge.

Came during Mardi Gras 2015 Monday and it was busy but still got a seat quickly. Waiter was good and very friendly. I like this place because they serve breakfast all day even though it’s mostly Omelets and a Belgian Waffle. My wife had the Louisiana Omelet and I had scrambled eggs and grits with bacon. We enjoyed it so we came back again on Fat Tuesday. This time she had the Jambalaya Omelet and I had a Bacon Cheddar Omelet both with grits. There grits are really good. They have huge windows for great people viewing. Great location in French Quarter and close to our hotel Bourbon Orleans.

Este lugar está más sucio que una letrina. Desde qué entramos olía a grasa y los camareros tenían una cara de amarga miento insoportable. Me sirvieron un café con el vaso sucio. Pague y me fui. Asqueroso!!! Horrible place. Only surviving because of location. Bad service. Dirty utensils and plates. Dirty tables and kitchen. Avoid at all costs! Have one star because we can’t give zero.

So I came down to Nola bc of a friend that invited me. I was staying right on Decatur st in one of the apts and this wonderful restaurant was located down the st from where I was staying. Turns out a few gf’s were in Nola at the same time and we decided to catch up and meet for lunch. They decided upon this place, bc Café Du Monde was just way too packed. This place was super busy, every table had guests dining. Our server(goodness I forgot his name) was very busy, but came to our table and got our drinks and gave us time to review the menu. While we were there for lunch, I ordered breakfast and omg, sooooo good. One of my gf’s ordered the catfish/shrimp po boy combo platter… of which she was so gracious to share with me. Now I’m by far not a seafood lover, however this was SOOOOOGOOOD, omg I instantly fell in love. And the portions were in abundance. The shrimp were jumbo shrimp and they certainly were HUGE, jumbo shrimp. Everything the gals ordered, was very tasty and good from the gumbo, to the breakfast platter to the po boy platter. I’m craving that po boy platter now. Our server again as I said was very busy and did forget a few items, but made up for it quickly by not only bringing our forgotten items but bringing extra drinks and dessert to make up for it. Which we appreciated. If ever I’m back in Nola, I will definitely be coming here. FOODWASDELICIOUS! And the location was great!

This review is based on the bar. Yes… yes…I know once again… shocker coming from me ha ha. After you have enjoyed beignets from Café Du Monde, walk across the street to River’s Edge and grab yourself a delicious cocktail to go. The bar is a small one, so be prepared for standing room only, unless you are one of the lucky few to grab one of the few chairs. Kenneth was the bartender on duty for both of my visits this year to River’s Edge. He was such a great sport to have to deal with the«Tampa Trouble» in the house. He was very friendly and efficient at making our drinks, too. River’s Edge Signature Cocktails are premade due to the immense volume of these drinks they sell. They are refreshing, taste great, and are priced well, too. Oh, and also very colorful. My friends had breakfast there on our last day and most of their feedback was average on the food. The restrooms are definitely NOT the prettiest or cleanest, but, you basically have no choice when you have been drinking all day or all night. Definitely stop in for one or more the refreshing drinks here. Or, the best thing about NOLA is… you can take your drinks to go and partake while sightseeing throughout the city!

I was vying for a Central Grocery Muffaletta — but found out they closed at 5pm, so ended up going here for a Muffaletta. I enjoyed the dish, and had no complaints. They have a heavy portion of fries and had service that was pretty attentive and fast. My table also ordered the Crawfish Pasta dish which was well recieved and had a ton of Crawfish in the dish. Nothing on the menu for me screamed unique and authentic — i felt like I’ve seen a lot of the menu items on other menus before. A lot of vicious and comical reviews on this place — but i think they are trying to amp up their game a little, as clearly the restaurant was going through some well needed renovations.
