On my first trip to New Orleans me and my daughter were browsing shops and we were so excited to come across this old book store. We walked in and a lady told us that they were closing in a few minutes. We said«ok» and then she said«well, actually we are closed but you could look for a minute». We said«ok». Then she said«it’s not my store but we are closed». The owner just stood there and didn’t say anything. So, we left. I guess he sells enough books and doesn’t need any more customers.

This place is a treasure within a city of debauchery and libation — here’s why: If you are in NOLA and having some regrets about your life choices or find the need to counter-balance your partying with some cultured experiences, hop over to Librarie Book Shop. Inside, you’ll find the nicest gentleman who will help you select a book to read. He’ll make some suggestions, perhaps get you on the phone with his friend, and make you feel accomplished, learned, and wise for selecting this shop on your French Quarter adventures. There is an array of books from new to old. I’d wager that over 75% are old or used. The rest are either library collectables, NOLA/Louisiana folk, history, tourism, or culture works, or new works by beloved LA/Southern/American authors. I was able to find a book of 1800s Creole folklore and a Faulkner piece to add to my collection. While I was there on a Monday morning, around a half-dozen patrons were perusing the aisles, as well. Book stores are havens for communities, so help keep this one in service.

Just popped in here for a minute after visiting the Beauregard-Keyes house. My son and I had to meet up with the rest of the family so I couldn’t stay long. The storekeeper was super nice and discussed how long she had lived in the quarter(I really really want to move there when I retire) and she was great at recommending some local author books I hadn’t read yet. I will definitely go back she I go back to New Orleans next year.

Such a magical place to walk into where you feel like you’re in another world outside of the hustle and bustle of New Orleans. Although it’s small and quaint, you can get lost in the litany of wonderful reads. There lies a wonderful and witty lady that helps guide you in the right direction no matter what you’re looking for. This place exemplifies what a bookstore should be so I recommend being consumed by it.

An excellent book store. First of our trip, and thankfully representative of what we would find all over New Orleans. A great local store. Nice local section, with history, cookbooks, etc. Well-stocked sections on other subjects. The owner(?) was very friendly and helpful. We bought a few, of course, and had fun browsing.

This is an amazing used book store right in the heart of the French Quarter. They have some new books at the front of the store, and in the back is their selection of used books, which is excellant. I found a used copy of a very new novel that I wanted to read for a great price. They have an excellant selection of biography, religion literary, fiction, biography, and southern culture and literature. This is a place that I definitely want to come back to browse. I was in a bit of hurry on the trip when I visited, but there are many volumes that I would want to go through, that look out of print and rare, that look like great reads that you cannot find anywhere else. Staff is very kind and helpful. I cannot give a higher recommendation.

If you love used book stores, check this place out. It’s adorable and I just wanted to spend hours in there browsing through the books. There are a few used bookstores in the area and I liked them all, but this was my favorite. The lady working there was very sweet.

I love the atmosphere of this store. It feels like an old book store. I did not find anything used on this visit, just a new copy of Evangeline. The selection of used books was pretty varied, so I’m sure if I looked, I could have found something. I recommend checking it out.

Great used book store in the quarter. It’s just the sort of place that you think all the shelves will fall over on you… and I mean that in a good way. I’ve always thought that many quarterites go here to sell their books when they move, so usually a good selection fancy cookbooks and art books.
