This is so SAD! I loved this place!!! So many memories. They had great gator kabobs that even my very picky eating(chicken nuggets only) 6 year old nephew LOVED. Gator-Me-Crazy you will be missed!

I think I know why this place closed. It sucked. Alligator is not a New Orleans thing. So I was confused as to why it was here but I figured why not. I love trying weird and strange animals. Though I wish this one would have stayed on the«to try» list. Nasty. I couldn’t even get through it. I had to basically cover my po-boy with hot sauce and take most of the big pieces out. Gator is something that is just not worth trying. It tastes just like chicken if they ran it over with a car three times, had a dog eat it and then vomit it back up.

My friend and I stopped in here twice, not just because the food was really good and inexpensive but because the service was stellar. I got alligator jambalaya both times and honestly, would probably get it every day I’m ever in NO because it was SOGOOD. All the employees were super nice and service was quick. It wasn’t super crowded either, so that’s always nice.

Stopped in here for some some touristy alligator snacks(when in Rome, right?) with friends while we were visiting. We ordered the alligator skewers and and the swamp rolls. The skewers were a little chewy, but tasty, and the swamp rolls were really yummy. Melty, cheesy, crispy goodness! The décor and environment is casual, with those little red and white checked tables(a little on the sticky gross side), and the woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful, though the place itself was loud and less than comfortable in the sweaty heat.

I know locals don’t eat alligator. That’s like me going to China to eat a fortune cookie. But I liked this place because it has character. And it had character because it has friendly employees, large foam cups(they were supposed to be «smalls» or «regular» sized), a video for a tacky cemetery tour playing in the background, and an actual tour information booth IN the restaurant, at the food counter. Doesn’t get much more touristy than that! I wouldn’t get too excited about alligator — it doesn’t taste like anything spectacular though it does taste good.(I guess I thought it might be similar to eating unicorn meat) It has a chewier consistency than chicken but is more lean. All in all, I really enjoyed my po’boy. I also liked their red soda which tasted like a stick of Big Red gum in carbonated, beverage form. It was yummy. So, come here if you want the ultimate, unashamedly tourist experience. And chop it up with the waitresses(we talked to them about Lil Wayne). They’re really funny and friendly!

Man. I have been down around the French Quarter several times now and this, by far, has been my favorite little spot to get something to eat. I had the Alligator Po’ boy. I am still craving it. Sooo good and great sauce. Will definitely go back next time I’m down there.

You’d think it would be a bit easier to find anything beyond alligator po’ boys or appetizers in New Orleans. Maybe you need to go deeper into the swamp to find that. Gator Me Crazy has a pretty big selection of gator items. I had the grilled gator piquant and the gator swamp roll. Both were good — the gator swamp roll surprisingly so. Kind of like an eggroll, but also a bit like a large well made gator pizza roll.

Not a bad place. They don’t have alcohol(shocking in NOLA) and this place is order at the counter, eat at your table kinda place. I had a colossal 14-in sandwich called the Cajun Confusion. It was much too large, but for $ 14, this is a good share with your friend. It has fried crawfish, fried gator and fried shrimp, with pickles, special sauce, lettuce tomato and crispy french bread. Its pretty damn good. I also tried the Cajun Roll, which is like a cajun egg roll — crawfish in a fried little dough roll. If it’s busy out there, and you can’t find a better place, so maybe try it.

Staff was very friendly. Food was tasty(gator po’boy, crawfish po’boy, gator roll and crawfish roll) $ 42.00 seemed high for what little meat was on the sandwiches.

Dropped off a friend at the airport and Andy Y., Chris L., Kurt F. and I decided to hit this place to try some gator. With all the gators around here I thought there would be more restaurants around that would serve this meat. Come to find out this one of the only place that had a menu with more than one selection on it. Right across the street from the French Market, we found this hole in the wall that seemed to be thrown together with left overs from hurricane Katrina. We sat down at a rickety table and purused the menu which consisted of gator appetizers and po boy style sandwiches. Not wanting to leave anything good out by chance, we ordered two of every appetizer and a few extra gator on a stick. The gator and crawfish egg rolls(*** stars) were a bit doughy and seemed to smother out the gator. The grilled gator on a stick(*** ½ stars) was served kabob style and considered our favorite. The fried gator on the stick(*** stars) was a good way to eat it but left you wanting something more. The gator sausage(*** ½ stars) was also very tasty but again seemed to lack that final«umph». Our waiter was very present during the taking of our order but seemed to disappear when it was time for refills. Not to bad for a place to get out of the heat and taste some gator meat, but not worth making it your dinner or lunch spot for the day.

My wife and I ate here during Jazz Fest(5⁄2010) and couldn’t have been more impressed. The owners although busy, still took the time to talk to us and show us great hospitality. Opened in October of 2009. They were spotlighted on Food Network for their rolls; I actually liked the Crawfish Roll better than the Gator Roll. You NEED to try the Grilled Gator on a Stick — they marinate it for 24 hours and then serve perfectly cooked. Awesome. Get here before they get too popular and raise their prices!
