Came across this place with a friend and I don’t see why all the horrible reviews?!(Cranky people!) Love this place! Love the décor, all staff members were super friendly, great prices for the area, and the food was yummy! We had their white wine that was surprisingly good(I feel it’s hard to find good wines in smaller restaurants.) Overall can’t wait to come back again! Maybe after some bowling or a movie to grab food with drinks!

This is my second visit at Ktchn 42nd street that my brunch crew and I attended. We had a great time watching the show and the food was pretty good. In this second visit our waiter Frankie made 4 mistakes out of the 8 orders. He was not present or attentive. Finally despite earlier agreements on how to separate the bill(an agreement to divide the bill into 3 was made before ordering) he charged one credit card the entire bill. He unapologetically said he would correct it and that was not reflected on the card. Therefore, the bank was called to assist in this error. So now I will be out of this available cash until after the holidays. Frankie’s lack of involvement to rectify this issue left a bad taste in all of our mouth. The host definitely made great efforts to help.

The food was very good. I got the steak and my father got the«fish of the day» which was just their regular salmon they already had on the menu. For apps we got the calamari which was a good portion and the batter was good. I gave three stars because the service was horrible. We had to wait over 30 minutes between finished plates. I know because I was texting my friends how bad the service was the whole time lol. We weren’t the only one complaining, some other patrons would get up to speak with the hostess and some even walked out! There were 5 servers and the back room and the front rooms weren’t even full so I don’t understand what the issue was. We came because we had a living social deal. I wouldn’t go back again.

Sat down at this fine dining establishment and it took almost 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. After that it took another 30 minutes for food to come out… 30 minutes for breakfast… crazy! Once we finally got the food there was a piece of hair in two of the three plates. We told the waitress who seemed not to care. We got up and left and the waitress said«ok thank you». Also a random drag show? WTF? Please save your money, time and appetite and go somewhere else where the staff cares and the food is sanitary.

I have been going to KTCHN for years. The restaurant has seen its ups and downs, but I do think they have a great formula in place. The new management team is working on the customer service, attention to detail and they have improved the menu. Veronica and Artem are great bartenders, they know how to make a amazing cocktails and they care about their new clients as well as the locals that come in daily. My favorite items are the Branzino, the Margherita pizza, the mac and cheese, and all things brunch. My favorite drinks include the Hells Kitchen, the paloma with Champagne and this special drink that Artem makes for me. I have no idea what they put in it but its so good and refreshing. I am happy that Miguel and the management team are working on improving the restaurant. Its my go to neighborhood spot and I enjoy coming here.

Haven’t been here in a few years but have to say I love the new menu they’ve released. The staff was incredibly bubbly and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and casually elegant. Overall an awesome experience I would recommend for dates or casual drinks after work.

Despite some other people’s experiences, I actually quite like ktchn. The food is standard fare but quite good, and I’ve always found the service to be very friendly.

I love the KTCHN I went there for a blond date, and even tho the location was hard to find first with the cab I had a great time and the food was good, the service was also great, I ordered and the waiter didn’t hesitate to give us an extra glass of wine at the end, the desserts are all good, I went there again and almost tried them all, it’s very close to the hotel so I expected it to be crowded but the space is very big. Thank you!

If you are looking for a nice relaxed atmosphere and good food this is the place to go. Attached to the stylish Out Hotel, it maintains the same attitude of chic and relaxed. It he service was wonderful, the server was honest and hospitable. We asked for a wine that they had run out of and they adjusted the price of a more expensive wine to make up for it. While we waited for the food the piano player provided just the right atmosphere to catch up with friends. I recommend the wedge salad and the sole(if the special is available) very great experience all around. I will definitely be back.

Look on line for this restaurant, it looked nice from the online photos. When we got there, it is look the same, but a little disappointed. Food is normal, nothing special, nothing that bad. Our server is fine, he didn’t do anything wrong. But table which we were sitting so annoyed. They need to fix this ASAP. We sat at the 3rd table by the window which we counted from the front of restaurant. The table has 2 sides of booths, but 1 side of the booth which your back is resting is broken, it was moving all time when the next table has customers, because these tables are sharing the back resting. It was totally UNCOMFORTABLE at all time when I was eating the food. You need to fix this.

Haus of Mimosa brunch was amazing! Love the turkey club. The bottomless mimosas were the perfect addition to make it a fabulous afternoon.

Zero vowels and zero service. It was like a game to get service at our table. Had to ask multiple times for a server and ended up with 3 different people. Strong I don’t care attitude from the restaurant. Water glasses and silverware were dirty and cheap. I’ve used better silverware on a plane. Food was mediocre and menu was boring. Nothing creative or inspiring especially for the prices they charge. Definitely not going back.

Bought a discount for $ 25 off of $ 50. Thought it was a good spot to try in the neighborhood and the menu online had a few items that sounded delicious. Unfortunately that’s as far as this review goes… I called in the afternoon to see if I could order for pick up and use the voucher. The gentleman on the phone confirmed that this was possible and I could call ahead and pop in for pick up. When I arrived the host didn’t know how to process the voucher. She called over the manager who dismissed us and walked away. She called him back over and his response was«this can’t be used unless you dine in.» After explaining that I called in advance to confirm, he told me this wasn’t possible as he’s the one who answered the phone and wouldn’t be able to use it. The food was already packed up and ready to go… so unfortunately I had to hand it back and leave it at the host stand. The host who took my order was very kind, but I won’t bother returning. No need to try a restaurant that doesn’t inform the staff and doesn’t stand behind their information.

Purchased a groupon for KTCHN, and headed on down there with a date, ready for some deliciousness with the missus. We arrived to an almost empty restaurant, where the only other party seated was a group of older gentlemen who were apparently sport-drinking in order to impress each other. The décor was nice except there was no art on the walls and just hooks where decorations used to hang. We ordered the Rib-eye and the Chicken Sandwich. The«Rib-eye» was clearly just a Round cut and honestly insulted to think they would attempt to serve this to us anyways. We silently chewed incessantly the tough steak, but honestly it wasn’t great. The chicken sandwich was unfortunately a similar quality. The chicken was nearly non-existent, and drenched in a bad honey mustard mixture and topped with too much raw kale, making it slightly inedible. The bread was too big for the amount actual stuff they put in the sandwich. Overall, I would recommend not trying either of the above mentioned dishes!

Service: Pitiful. We arrived and the waiter came to our table and asked if we were ready to order. No greeting, he was not friendly nothing. Aside from taking our order he only came back to the table to drop off the check… we actually had to ask him for the check as he paid ZERO attention to anything. He did not even ask if we wanted drinks!!! The sad part is the restaurant was not even that busy. He did not even ask how our meal was or if we needed anything else! When he gave us the check he did not even say thank you. When we left we said goodbye and thank you to the front staff and they said nothing. Absolutely terrible. The whole staff is pitiful excluding busboys who delivered the food and seemed to care. This was the first time in my life I only left a 10% tip and I hope it all goes to the busboys. Food: Decent. Kale salad was actually very good however with the service as bad as it was it made everything awful and miserable. Décor: Very nice, trendy and airy in the front, the back opens up to a larger restaurant which is quite cozy. The tables were sticky and the napkins were stained with coffee. I want to give this place one star but out of fairness, the busboys did try and the kale salad was decent. I live in this area and I would never go back here unless management changes. Save your money and go down the street to Applebee’s or even McDonalds. The service is 100x better and more friendly. I would much rather have mediocre food with good service opposed to good food with pitiful service any day.

This is by far one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We went to KTCHN as a group of ten to go have brunch after my BFF’s engagement party the night before. We sat for 30min before even being greeted and that’s because we flagged somebody down. They were not busy, there were plenty of empty tables. It took another 30plus minutes of not getting our drinks for me to get up to complain to the manager… in which she just stared at me with a blank expression. She did not apologize, nor try to resolve the situation. I’ve worked in restaurants for 20plus years and never have I seen such indifference and incompetence from a manager. I’ve had managers jump behind the bar to get drinks for a table if the server was in the weeds… not this manager… she could not give a Flying F! Upon my complaint another server jumped in to help and make sure we got our drinks although that still took awhile. They brought our food over an hour later by the chef and at that time they finally brought our drinks. The food was mediocre, they auctioned our food to us… this place is a big ol mess. I’ve had a better caesar salad at Mc Donald’s. Nobody else in our party cared for the food either. The performers were amusing, they had spectacular voices and somehow made the brunch not as painful after awhile. The manager never even came to check on us or ask us if we needed anything. The chef did offer us some mac n cheese but it did not make up for all of the dysfunction. They even had the gaul to add on a 20% automatic gratuity which we refused to pay for such lousy service. As I walked back from the bathroom the server even stared me down like his twink ass was going to fight me in the back… As if! This place was exceptional dysfunctional, unprofessional and ruined our celebratory brunch.

Really liked KTCHN — We were looking for somewhere easy to get some drinks and a few bites. Ended up at the bar here and had cocktails, wine, and a handful of appetizers. The sexy fries were bomb. Definitely my favorite. Also got chicken tenders, quinoa bites, and regular fries(because when is one order enough)? Bartenders were really friendly too!

Ehhh. It was okay! Cute space but it was realllly dead on a Saturday for brunch. My friend and I got the unlimited mimosas and chicken caesar salads. The salad left much to be desired! It was okay but very boring. We got an order of sexy fries before as an app… still trying to figure out what was so sexy about them! They were OK as well but nothing to write home about. Lets face it — the main reason we went here was for the unlimited boozy brunch. They were slow to bring our first drinks, but after that they kept flowing nicely. Probably because we kept ordering a new pitcher when we still had a glass left each. God forbid we’re mimosa-less for five seconds for brunch. Yes, I said pitchers… my friend and I killed like 3 or 4 pitchers. We left really drunk and really hungry!

I hate to be that bitch who changes their 2-star review down to a 1-star review. It seems petty. But I felt like I needed to tell the Unilocal community my story. The other day, I received a ‘compliment’ from someone named James S. saying, «You forgot to mention that your party arrived in scattered different times, and that you were pains in the ass. Love, the other party that was there.» I’m pretty sure James S. is the owner, manager, or at least works for KTCHN because: CLUE #1: If it truly was a person from another party that was there, how would he have known which party we were? I never mentioned anything about the date or time we were there. CLUE #2: Upon stalking my friend who I was dining with that day, I saw that she gave KTCHN a pretty good review — and then I saw that the same James S. person gave her an actual compliment, «Excellent review!» And James S. also corrects her by saying, «His name was James, not Jake»(so I’m assuming her original review had Jake in it). I don’t know about you but when I send out a Unilocal compliment, it’s to actually compliment the person — and not correct the person on someone’s name, unless that someone was myself. So maybe our party did arrive in scattered times. But I’m pretty sure we all arrived within a reasonable time frame. I mean give me a break. It was a group of 20. Do you really expect that every single person will get there at exactly the same time? And people who were early(like me) just waited at the bar. It’s not even like we were sitting at tables, hogging up space in their empty ass joint. I’ve seen bad reviews for other places and if/when the owner does comment, it’s usually to try to rectify the situation — try to get the reviewer to give them a second chance. And I know I mentioned in my original review that I might come back for drinks but after this, I won’t even do that. Which means that my friends who would have been with me for that drink, won’t be coming either. Which means money down the drain for KTCHN. So James S. — I’m sure you’ll be reading this update. You can keep complimenting, messaging, etc. and I’ll be sure to keep posting your responses for the world to see. After this, I think I’ll go solve crimes.
