I enjoyed my time at the Out NYC spa last week. I booked a massage with Savas and that included access to the spa (sauna, steam room, hot tub) and the fitness center. There are also some outdoor gardens, ping pong and other areas to relax in, but since I went in the winter, I could not take advantage of them. Bottom line, don’t just plan to be at the spa for your massage, arrive early and take some time to relax and unwind.
I had a deep tissue service with Savas. He was excellent. He took time to listen to my pain areas and adjusted his technique accordingly. He gave a great massage and my body was very thankful.
The spa area is co-​ed, including the locker room, which could be a little weird if men and women are changing at the same time. I happened to be the other person there during my appointment, so it was a non-​issue for me.
Keep in mind that the Spa if part of a hotel, so you need to check in at the reception desk when you arrive. They will provide you with a spa key and directions on how to find it.

I called Bryan, the manager at the OUT NYC and explained the situation to him. He apologized immediately and set my brother-​in-​law up with a new appointment and different masseuse. Very professional and courteous response from Bryan, so I’m updated my review.

Rude and incompetent dealing with Savas, lead massage «therapist.» My wife and I flew out from Europe to spend the day treating out my brother-​in-​law for his birthday. We ran into egregious traffic just a few blocks away, but called the spa to tell them. The spa didn’t say anything about time being cut out of his massage.
Ultimately he was told he was going to get a 60 minute massage, but Savas instead gave him a 30 minute massage and took the entire $ 200 gift card and tried to justify it saying he was «doing us a favor».
He didn’t tell us that once he laid a finger on a person he considers that the start of his service and he gets to set the cut off point. He was rude and condescending during his entire dealing with us. I bet he is a good masseuse but he does NOT know how to deal with people. We will never, ever give our business to this spa or to that belittling rude masseuse.

He walked me toward the massage room — Clean, Quiet and Very Serene
Once in the table he made sure I am comfortable and started his Amazing Session on my body
The pressure was perfect and after an hour or so I got up of the table relaxed and rejuvenated
Highly recommend a Massage Session at the Spa by Savas

This Spa is an interesting place. The hotel and spa have a very relaxing atmosphere on the surface. Our stay being a gift and not knowing much about the hotel we pretty much immediately realized it was geared towards gay men. Like the hotel, the spa and it’s facilities appeared clean, modern, and crisp.
There is a cold jacuzzi and hot jacuzzi side by side. Both very small, 4 person. We thought the cold jacuzzi just wasn’t getting hot enough and then saw the sign that it was a cold plunge? Why would you do that.
We didn’t end up trying the hot one as there was already a few people in it. We decided to warm up and check out the steam room in the co-​ed locker room. As I opened the door, there was a guy covered in bubbles with shorts on that turned around and approached the door before I walked in. He said sorry, I have 20min left on this treatment. Or something along those lines. I’m not positive because in the few seconds we were standing in the doorway, I couldn’t help but notice the butt neked dude lying face down on a wooden platform also covered in bubbles…
I just said oooook and we hit the sauna.
I understand it’s a co-​ed spa and an open kinda hotel and all but maybe specified times or at the very least a sign on the door
would be nice. That way people aren’t continually interrupting the clients massage. Not sure if/​how they end up sanitizing this wonka foam party but it never happened during our visit to the spa.
Overall, a beautiful facility but a couple puzzling ideologies for the average hotel guest.

I’m a regular at the Out because Savas is simply one of the best massage therapists in NYC. He applies deep pressure and uses unique techniques, including stretching, that help the whole body heal and recover. And he’s a friendly and warm guy. The Out’s procedures for checking in are a little cumbersome, but other than that, it is superb.

Hot Stone Massage is Transcendent
Hunky Massage Therapist Savas Cebeci has now given me 2 of the best massages I’ve ever had. He uses hot stones, great technique on the massage and LOTS of stretching. I felt rejuvinated, relaxed and my muscles had been worked, but didn’t feel abused like some deep tissue work I’ve had done. I strongly recommend him and the Spa at the OUT Hotel.

I receive massage services 5 – 6 times a month at 5-​star spa establishments, and the masseur at the OUT spa is better than all those I’ve experienced! Although the experience and facilities don’t compare to these high end spas, the treatment earns the OUT spa’s 5 star rating. I’ve received 9 massages here over the past 6 months, and will continue to come back for treatment. Give it a try!

AWFUL MANI/​PEDI experience
Paid for the GILT voucher and what a waste. Carmen did the service and was nice, but I sat in an uncomfortable cabana as my feet soaked in a cheap plastic tub. It wasn’t a proper pedicure station so her supplied were scattered all around us. I felt like this was an impromptu favor by an unprofessional. Certainly was not relaxing and the $ 85 price tag — laughable and simply a rip off. Go elsewhere!!!

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 2. As mentioned in previous posts the first thing to get you off center is Matt the manager. A bit aggressive a bit gruff and a bit unorganized. Before I go any further i must clarify this is not a Spa in the traditional sense. Sure it has a shower, a sauna, a steam room and a massage room but that is it. Notice the «a» in all those mentioned. No front desk, no real staff and NO I don’t want to be cautious of my junk hanging out as I change in a co-​ed locker room as i ready for my massage.
The massage i had this time was a «gilt» deal. The masseur needed to revisit what he learned in school. I said it then to Carmen the manicurist that I can tell as soon as someone puts their hand son me if they are good, and clearly this dude was not good.
Carmen was no better. Sorry folks. But had I paid 85 dollars for this «spa» pedicure and manicure and got the service I received recently you would still hear me screaming to the front desk staff…(who by the way have nothing to do with the Spa)
I have never received a mani/​pedi such as this. My hands were soaked in cold water on a make shift desk set up in an empty hotel room. No clipping just nails filed, nail beds pushed back slightly some minor clipping of skin… and the pedi was awful. My feet were placed in a wash bin. A plastic tub filled with hot water and some green sea salts. I could go on but clearly the manicurist does not know the first thing about the service she is providing. It was the lamest mani/​pedi i have ever received and I actually left and went and had another mani/​pedi elsewhere.
For a spa service I expect the luxury expected with a spa. I also expect a real pedicure chair for 85 dollars not sitting on a wooden bench with my feet in a plastic tub. The massage is an important part of mani’pedi and neither was really offered.
Sorry folks if I have offended anyone but get real equipment and a staff that knows what they are doing and maybe I will be back and maybe I will recommend your «Spa».

My first visit to the Spa at OUT NYC was a good one. Quick, professional staff. Relaxing environment… an urban oasis (where you don’t expect one). Great manicure and massage. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the Spa at the Out. We booked a couple’s massage which was very nice. After, we were lead to one of the cabanas next to the hot tubs, where 2 glasses of prosecco were waiting for us.
The atrium and hot tub area are great for relaxing and it looks like it’s going to be a great place to be in summer

Good: space is quite nice. It is a little confused – one locker room, one open shower and one steam room (as in co-​ed). It is weird to change with the constant thought that the opposite sex may wander by (or maybe that is a good thing – keeps you on your toes). The atrium is nice, the whirlpools are clean and it looks like it would be wonderful on a sunny day.
Bad: this category will be a little longer. Unfortunately, I agree with a number of the reviews below: the staff is very disorganized. I was ushered upstairs and put into a cabana to wait, then I was told to change and wait again. No one came to get me (and there was no one to ask). I finally asked the towel person to find someone. He did and the spa manager was a little flustered. I had arrived 20 minutes early, we started the massage at least 10 minutes late and it ended 5 minutes early. So, not great value. To add to the disappointment, the massage was only ok. It was not very fluid – just kind of technical. I would not return. Shame because I was excited about the space.
Maybe they will get the place better organized, but it has been open long enough to be running smoothly now.

My husband bought me a voucher from Gilt city for a 30min massage and mani/​pedi at The Out spa. Apparently they do not have a person who answers the phone, you have to leave a msg and someone will get back to you. Needless to say I called 3times before I got a call back. The person who called back was professional and efficient. Fast forward to the date of my appt. I get there on time (15mins earlier than my appt as requested) I was met by Carmen who was very nice, she informed me we would be doing my mani/​pedi first which I questioned because I was getting a massage and I didn’t want my nails to smudge. She said to me «we don’t de polish only a buff I could give you a clear coat» I was baffled! I explained to her I expected my nails to be polished to which she responded that’s how your appt was schedule and we don’t have time, I then told her I would reschedule. All of a sudden she was showing me colors and we were getting along, although she seemed like she was on a tight schedule and when I asked her to clip my toe nails she responded with «I don’t know if we will have enough time»
Anyway after the mani/​pedi sans polish I head for my massage with Peter, who is nice enough except he screwed me outta 10mins of my 30min massage! I always make it a point to check the time. This really pissed me of on top of the whole nail polish fiasco. So now I head back to Carmen who completes my mani/​pedi but it took 2 ½hrs! I am not exaggerating at all, my massage finished at 3.35pm and I was done with at 5pm lets not forget I got there at 2pm and Carmen started my mani/​pedi and I went for my massage at 3.10pm. All said and done I will never go back there and I will make it a point to let EVERYONE know about my experience.
On a side note the actual spa is really beautiful feels like your on vacation especially in the solarium where I had my mani/​pedi

I don’t understand all the hype about the massage from savas because mine was pretty bad. If you like massages that are all brute force and absolutely no finesse, then maybe this is for you, but I found myself wishing it were over almost as soon as it started. I don’t know what kind of oil he used, but he might as well have used none, as the friction from his hands made the massage un-​enjoyable. I left the massage quite unsatisfied and more agitated than when I came in. The whole experience was a waste of time.
Thank goodness i received this massage as a gift because I would’ve been furious having to paying full price for this. As far as high priced NYC spas go, I’ve been at Ohm spa before, and that was BY FAR a superior experience (and cheaper) in each and every aspect.

I visited the Spa at THE OUT NYC today for a 1-​hour facial with microdermabrasion. I hadn’t heard of THE OUT, until I purchased the facial via a special on Gilt Group. So glad to have found this place! It’s like a Retreat from the City, for as long as I can possibly set aside.
I’m a straight woman, and felt completely comfortable and positive in the space (even though I was the only female guest at the Spa for the whole 3 hours I was there :).
I arrived early to spend some time working out in the gym, and to hang in the steam room for a bit before my facial. Christopher gave an amazing facial!
I look forward to returning soon, and definitely come summer, when I can do some sunbathing and relaxing poolside on the patio before my appointment.

So i booked a massage at the SPA at the OUt on gilt city and i loved it. Contrary to some people below when i asked at the front hotel desk where the spa was they called up and i was escorted to the massage space. If I was not i would have been very confused. The woman was lovely and gave me a quick tour of the spa space, gym, etc. Very cool hotel Lots of outdoor space and interesting use of space. I did laugh as when we walked into the «spa» there was a guy in his jock and she just walked in – i guess it is all co-​ed.
Now for the massage. I used Savas and he is amazing. Terrific pressure and so knowledgable. It was a fantastic massage. After the massage he pulled out his iphone and showed me some illustrations of muscles that were tight in my back and then showed me some specific stretches to do. It was great. I have to say he is pretty hot as well :)
So overall it was fun and a great massage. DOnt think you can go here if you are shy since it is co-​ed and you never know what you will see. I will be back.

I booked a deep tissue massage with Savas after reading all the great reviews he got, and he did not disappoint. Truly it was a great massage! I will agree with the other reviews posting about the confusion regarding where and when to meet for the spa appointment, I had to play it by ear as there really is no receptionist for the spa — it just opens up into the main hotel and patrons can come and go freely as they wish. I wouldn’t necessarily book a treatment here (I have no idea where they would do treatments, space seemed limited) but the massage was well worth it. I liked the spa products I tried (a black pepper body lotion? whodathunkit?) but not enough to take some home with me.

OK massage. But experience leading up to it was rushed, totally disorganized, and more stressful than relaxing. Sent on a wild goose chase to different rooms trying to check in; ended up accidentally interrupting some poor guy’s facial in the «office;» literally no one around to check in with; therapist hurriedly threw towels out of the room and told me to get undressed and go lay down in the dry sauna for 10 minutes, during which hotel staff brought 3 (potential?) guests INTO the tiny dry sauna fully clothed, backpacks and all, for a tour which included me in a towel…
Therapist finally came in and ushered me to my massage with a «LET’S go.» Massage itself was mediocre, never got the hard pressure I asked for. But from the logistics and treatment beforehand alone, will not return to this spa or recommend it to others.

In need of a massage, I bought a voucher on Gilt City for a 60 minute massage at The Spa. I have never heard of the hotel or the spa, but I was down to try something new! After checking reviews on Unilocal,I made a 5:30pm appointment with Savas (earlier this evening).
If it weren’t for the actual massage (thanks to Savas), I would never come back to this Spa. From the second I walked into the hotel, I was confused. The staff seemed to be a bit unprofessional and for such a cool and modern hotel, I was expecting a lot more. And what’s with the co-​ed spa and locker room? I felt uncomfortable to get into the jacuzzi and enjoy myself (extremely disappointing). What was I supposed to do? Jump into the hot water in my thong and bra while the entire staff was walking around? I also wasn’t given a robe of any sort. I’ve been to many great spas and everything about this one (besides the actual aesthetics. which were awesome) was very disappointing.
But Savas… thank you thank you thank you! IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE MASSAGES I HAVE EVER HAD. If I could, I would hire him as my personal masseur! Maybe The Spa itself isn’t for me, but I will DEFINITELY be back to see Savas!
