The Marshal is a cute and well designed restaurant. What makes it exceptional though is the flavor of the ingredients, above all, the meats. The pork on the cuban, chicken on the salad or bacon in the hash. All ingredients tastet so flavorful and natural, like they are supposed to. Makes you wonder why so many other places cannot get this right. Simple ingredients sourced and done right!

Wonderful little place, delightful. Brussel sprout salad was refreshing and unique, lamb shank cooked almost to perfection and the compliments were nicely paired. The staff cared, attentive, good recommendations, the wine choices were unique too. Presentation was home cooked meal style on some, higher end on others and slopped on on yet more, a little randdom, but taste was on point.

We scored the last 3 seats at the Marshal and beat the brunch rush. The staff was super friendly and provided superb service(thanks Alex, Nicole, and Tori). We shared an order of the biscuits, which came out perfectly warm with butter and jam. Delicious! For entrees, we ordered the bacon & sausage frittata, Mac ‘n cheese, and the duck bacon hash. Food was really great! Portions were good sizes too, so we definitely could’ve shared! My friend loves spicy and requested red pepper flakes for her mac ‘n cheese and the waiter didn’t know if they had any so he went out of his way to ask the kitchen for some. I would come here again to try dinner.

First of all I love that this place, which my family and I luckily stumbled upon, is a «farm to table» restaurant. You can taste the difference in the quality of the produce they use. I really liked the herb and goat cheese stuffed chicken breast that I had. It was so flavorful without being overwhelming and the quality of the chicken was impeccable. My brother had the lamb shank which was so silky and simply melted in your mouth(which is a real compliment considering I don’t even like lamb). The chocolate fudge dessert was also amazing! The chocolate was perfectly bittersweet. Overall this place is a very good place to have dinner with friends or family or maybe even for an intimate date.

Nice spot. Bloody marry aren’t the best in town but a-ok. The food is ‘local’ and they have nice ‘new’ brunch plates — but pricy on the other hand(shouldn’t it be cheaper as it is local means less transportation?) Worth a brunch visit with your SO but not your spot for a boozy brunch.

My BFFs and I do an annual gift exchange and this was a cute and perfect spot to do it in. We needed a place in midtown that wasn’t over populated. I was initially worried about the brunch crowd but by the time my friends arrived the crowd had dissipated. We ended up sitting at a counter bar with a view of the restaurant which was cool. Let’s talk about the pluses: first off staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hostess kept checking in to make sure we were good as well as the waitress. The food order was taken and received in super fast speed. Since I was hangry I was very happy with getting my food in Speedy Gonzalez time! I also loved the décor with the wooden tables and lodge type feel. The bacon I ordered was perfectly crispy just like I asked:) A few minuses… The food although definitely great quality and uniqueness lacked a bit in flavor. I ordered the roasted vegetable and Vermont creamery goat cheese frittata and didn’t even taste the goat cheese it was supposed to have. I did however enjoy the carrots and parsnips in the dish. I was also disappointed that the fingerling potatoes were dry and cold. I was not happy about the fact that there were no hooks under the table which made the small counter space table area seem even tighter. I should add that the waitress kindly offered to take our coats downstairs for a coat check but I guess as a New Yorker being separated from my belongings always gives me anxiety. Also, four dollars for coffee seemed steep for me, although very much worth it. I was between a 3 and a 4 for this place but the wonderful servers bumped it up to a 4. Would come back but only if already in the area.

Welcoming staff in a very cozy location. Food is hearty and satisfying. One of the best restaurants in the area. Will continue to return a few times a year.

I believe its reservations only except at the bar and you will not get seated until the whole party arrives. You can still order a full dinner at the bar and it looked more spacious than the regular dining tables. I ordered off the farm list and had a mushroom dish, polenta and arugula salad. My favorite was the mushroom dish because I love me some mushrooms! The arugula salad was your typical arugula with shredded cheese. As for the polenta, well, I love me some polenta too so it’s hard to mess that up for me. Do I feel like the price reflects the taste? Not really. The dishes were small and simple.

I wanted to give a 4.5 but could not find a reason to go down to 4. This place is hard to get a table but we managed to sneak in last minute on a Saturday morning before it got really busy. The menu changes daily apparently, but from our 3 dishes, it doesn’t look like they are lacking anywhere. The sprout salad was a great appetizer. The Parmesan and spices didn’t require dressing it was so good. I had the chicken hash with sausage and it was terrific. The hash had a lot of elements that was served perfectly with a poached egg and a side of home made sausage. The winner of the day was my girlfriends butternut squash grilled cheese. The bread was on point, just enough cheese, and delicious sweet squash went so well with it, serving as almost a tomato soup substitute. I live nowhere near here and it is not near any subways, and I still want to go back for more. I guess I’ll leave it at that.

Wasn’t aware that this place was farm-to-table, but after seeing all of the prior reviews, now I know why there were so many people crowding to come sample the trendy thing for brunch. So as others have mentioned, The Marshal is super small — I’d basically define it as an alleyway between two other buildings. Everyone is on top of each other when they’re dining, so it was probably lucky that my boyfriend and I were relegated to the bar seats(slightly less claustrophia inducing). People filtered in and out as we were eating, and I would cringe every time they had to be turned away because the restaurant was just full to the brim. But enough on the poor seating capacity. I want to give four stars for the ingredients and the delicious pork sausage that we enjoyed with our hash(one smoked chicken and one beet hash), but the poached eggs in both of our dishes were just too acidic. They tasted as if they were doused in vinegar. I’m usually a fan of a sour taste, but it really was too much for me. Maybe the chef had an off day.

Came here after walking a 5k for brain tumor research. My friend and I decided on this place after seeing some pics and 4star avg reviews. Place: VERY tiny. YOu def need reservations but we managed to snag seats at the bar. They were bumpin in there like no other. Food/Drinks: I said it was my bday brunch and the manager insisted they can’t serve me my bloody mary until 12. Fine, I get it and don’t want you to get fined. Until I saw the bartender making a drink for another patron(whom the manager knew I suppose) before 12. When I asked about it, the girl responded it was a «favor for the manager». All I could think was«can’t wait to mention this bullshit on Unilocal»! Cut me a break for the love of God it was like 20min before 12, yet you clearly made the exception for someone else. We ordered the plaid hash, which was actually delish BUT was such a small amount! I mean $ 16 for something my 12yr old brother wouldn’t stay satisfied with. Even my friend that is half my size, said she was starting to get hungry shortly after. So I eventually got my bloody mary and it was horrible. Drinks aren’t cheap here either so don’t even waste your time ordering one here. Overall, I didn’t feel the food value/price was worth it at all. Not sure how this place has an avg of 4 stars, so this will have to be the review where I disagree with the majority of Unilocalers.

This place was horrible! Came here for a friends bday and I felt horrible that I was the one that picked this place. Huge disappointment! I love the concept of farm to table but only if the table portion is actually good. We paid $ 6 for plain white bread, then $ 28 for beef stew. My stew had 2 tiny pieces of meat and the rest was potatoes. The chef could’ve added some seasoning to both items to warrant that hefty price tag. We all left disappointed and full on potatoes/bread. Please do not go here unless you like being disappointed!

Finally came back again for a dinner 5 months after I visited The Marshal for a weekday lunch. I had much expectation this time as the lunch last time was enjoyable. However, our dinner didn’t meet our expectation in terms of both food and ambiance. I’d rather recommend to come for weekday lunch or weekend brunch. Wood oven french loaf was great as always. Still not a big fan of the fact that we have to pay $ 6.5 for the bread, but I think it’s worth it. Burrata was great as well, and it went well with the french loaf. The main menu for dinner offers relatively limited options — only 8(meat or fish/mussels.) I was looking for something like pasta or burgers, but unfortunately those were not available. We tried wood oven roasted meat loaf and trout, both of which were just okay. The wood oven roast meat loaf was nothing special but just like a loaf of pressured grounded beef with mozzarella cheese inside it, and the trout was like a very mediocre steamed fish. Lunch menu is more enjoyable and delicious than dinner menu. Also it was very noisy and dark, which makes it hard to have a conversation over dinner with friends or family. Don’t think I’d come back for dinner again. Good market table dishes and appetizers, but not main menus/ambiance.

We were seated outside — our preference. It was a nice cool night. They have an outdoor space heater. It is a bit cozy to sit inside, but well worth it. Everything we ordered was amazing. Clam chowder. Farm sides: string beans, carrots, kale au gratin. Meatloaf Goat cheese and herb stuffed chicken Lamb shank Monk fish Drinks: oh bee-have, bourbon Manhattan, widow Jane on rocks. Waitress was awesome– her name was Sarah. Her sarcasm was hysterical and she sped up serving the food to our table so we could make an 8pm show. She gave heartfelt suggestions and we took her advice! The food was cooked to perfection! We had a wonderful experience and will definitely return!

Tiny hole in the wall that serves farm-to-table food. The food is really good, especially the ketchup. ASKFORTHEKETCHUP! And make sure you eat the chicken sausage. ORDERTHECHICKENSAUSAGE. And you should start off your meal with biscuits. ORDERTHEBISCUITS. Now, if you just walk in and expect to get a table, you will probably end up waiting because its tiny. I think you can make reservations and would recommend making reservations. I’ve been here twice, the second time, I had to wait but there was some seating at the bar, so I sat there. The duck bacon and chicken hash is delicious. And even more delicious with the fantastic KETCHUP that they have. Its some fancy ketchup that comes in a jar and just tastes… good. There is no free alcoholic drink included in the meal but that is ok.

3.5 stars for taste. Came here for brunch with a bunch of my girlfriends and we all ordered very different dishes so i got to try a lot of them. The coffee was decent. The orange juice had lots of pulps so it felt fresh. However it was too sweet… Makes me wonder if they added sugar to it. On to the food — 1. Kale salad was amazing. It had really thick salad dressing to it. Just right to be not too heavy/thick. The chickpeas were crunchy and added great texture. 2. Mac and cheese — standard not too amazing. 3. Meat frittata — it was alright didn’t stand out too much 4. French toast — good toast but really sweet. The other thing about them is really great service. Half of my party didn’t arrive until 30mins after the reservation but they were pretty nice about it. But the restaurant also wasn’t too busy by then.

Really nice place. We liked the boat theme(I believe there is a sail running across the roof). Service was fantastic. We came in at 4PM from the nearby Renegade Fair. Unfortunately, they have downtime between 4 and 5 while they change from brunch to dinner. That was alright, we sat down and had a few drinks. Various folks had win, beer, and cocktails; they were all good. For appetizers we had some oysters, chilled corn soup, beef tartare, and the tomatoes and watermelon. We loved everything but the oysters. The mignonette sauce tasted a bit off. The beef tartare and corn soup were especially fantastic For entrees we had the steak, chicken, fish and chips, and mushroom pasta. All very good. Nothing exceptional. The appetizers were better. I’d definitely come back to this spot. The food is good, the prices are a bit high but not crazy, and the service was wonderful.

I loved this cutesie little hole in the wall! I have to start by saying that the staff was extremely accommodating, extremely kind and professional! For that alone, I want to go back! We started off with the Mac and cheese– to die for! It came in a cast iron pan, topped with breadcrumbs and just down right amazing. We then had beef on polenta and a couple of sides including sautéed mushrooms, sweet potato gratin and greens. Everything was delicious, very delicate and potent at the same time. It tastes how real food should taste! I believe they have a farm to table concept– it was great. The desserts were very decadent and just just my grandma would have liked them. The berry crumble was to die for and the frozen chocolate fudge would have you sell your soul to the devil. Overall, the Marshall may be my new favorite place in Hell’s Kitchen as it caters to your soul! Food was out of this world, the staff was stellar and the night was perfect!

5STARS x 2 !!! Disclaimer: I’ve really procrastinated on writing this review since my dinner experience here on 12÷23÷14. And because of that, food items in my review may not be available. But the menu changing with the seasons is also what makes this restaurant so appealing! The good news for you, is that even though I’ve taken so long to write this review, my most fave dish of this dinner, «Satur Farms Sweet Potato and Kale Au Gratin», is a dish that(I think) they always have on their menu. It’s the cheesy, potato, and kale layers of flavors and textures that combine into one of the best, if not THEBEST, au gratin I’ve ever had! Second fave dish of the night — Braised Lamb Shank. Tender meat combining with the the flavors of the pureed root vegetables was perfection! My friend and I were intrigued by the Duck Liver Pâté on the menu and chose that to start with. If you love pâté, you’re in for a treat. Velvety and rich as a pâté should be. The honey comb was an interesting addition which gave another textural element to each bite. We went for the 3 for $ 21 sides and so for the other 2 we ordered the Dagele Bros Chilled Roasted Beets and Tonjes Farm Veal Meatballs. They were both delicious but nothing memorable to report. If you’re a Gin drinker, the Window Box Negroni is amazing! Bourbon lovers, go for a Kenzi Finish It. The dinner tab wasn’t too pricey for the amount of booze and food we consumed and the service was priceless. Our server was super sweet in packing up the lamb shank bone so I could give it to my dog later too! He even admitted he does the same thing lol! :high five: Definitely make a reservation for dinner — there isn’t much room to wait for a table. even at the bar, which was packed the whole time we dined. And definitely get the Au Gratin. OOOHSOOGOODGRAH-TAN! ‘Til we meet again!

After spending the evening in the city during the week we stopped in as soon as it opened(11am) hoping to score some brunch — silly rabbits, brunch is for weekends! No matter, they had an awesome lunch menu and it was nice to have this small space for ourselves — at least for a little while. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and I have to say these were a couple of the best sandwiches we ever had. My wife ordered the grilled cheese with butternut squash. If you are in the mood for a «brunchy» type of sandwich I would say this would fit the bill with its combination of sweet and savory. Reminiscent of a well made french toast the butternut squash added a custardy creaminess with its sweetness balanced with the delicious cheddar. OMG outrageous! My sandwich was the Wood Oven Roasted Pork Shoulder Cubano sandwich. This had to be best tasting pork I had in a while perfectly juicy and flavorful with the pickles, cheddar and cabbage balancing nicely. The waitress offered condiments, but I declined because none were needed or wanted! I will be back for this! We had a side of polenta which was served cooked in its own little cast iron square pan — topped with cheddar and on a base of roasted beefsteak tomato sauce — it was a delicious item for us to share. My wife had a tea to warm up on this record breaking brutally cold day which was nicely served in a little pot. I had a grapefruit soda which worked nicely with the food. I really enjoyed the entire experience — cool music playing in the background, delicious locally sourced meals, friendly service, cozy rustic décor. You don’t mind the cold if you get to spend it in a place like this!

The Marshal !! Excellent! L’équipe est super sympa ! L’addition un peu moins …
