I had a cannoli their, and it was one of those moments when you took a bite out of it, you immediately regretted your decision to pay $ 5 for the worst cannoli ever, the filling was stone hard and the shell was gummy.

They only accept cash which is such a nuisance! No one carries cash anymore! Otherwise food is good. There are various food options — salad bar, sandwiches, pain is, desserts. They have soups from Hale and Hearty which are delicious — my favorite being tomato cheddar or clam chowder! Just yum. They are a bit pricey but that just comes with the area since they service the Columbia university medical center!

What attracted me was the«A» food inspection rating proudly posted on the front door. Coffee was ok; they charge you extra for sitting, even if the entire café is empty. Better to save your money, buy coffee elsewhere and sit for free. One of the workers was lining up the cold beverages; he scratched his sweaty shoulder, then continued lining up the cold drinks. Yuk.

Only place I can get a tossed salad for lunch around NYP. They open salad bar at 11am and makes decent tossed salad. I can choose my greens first and choose meats, beans, dressing… and they toss the salad in the bowl, cost $ 8. Salad bar isn’t big. Options are not varies. Lunch soup starts $ 4 – 6 depend on the size. I feel it’s overpriced compare with the quality. Cash only.

Decent. Not bad, not great. For the Washington Heights area, I can’t complain.

Out of sheer convenience because of its close proximity to where I have classes, I have regrettingly stumbled in here a few times when I have a hankering for salad and when I’m all bageled out from Mike’s around the corner. The food is… bleh…and OVERpriced. The service is flat out rude if you do not look like you speak Spanish. I gave it one star only for its convenient location, and it is open late.

This is the ONLY relatively healthy option by Columbia and NYP so that means they have free reign on prices, mediocre food and can demand cash only. They offer a variety of things here: make your own salad bar, soups, pre-made sandwiches and some baked items for dessert. I was trying to balance out my recent gluttony and opted for a salad. For a tiny bowl, it was over $ 8 bucks! Highway robbery!!! To add insult to injury, it was was sorely lacking in flavor and I was ravenously hungry two hours later. I won’t be back unless everything within a five block radius is shut down and I’m in a time crunch.

Around CUMC, this is one of the best places for food. I absolutely love the make your own salads here. Unlimited toppings, great variety of options. I’ve had some of the sandwiches here and the soups too. My favorite sandwiches are the ones with avocados. Although this place isn’t cheap, it’s a good food option considering the limited number of choices around campus.

This place is by no means exceptional, but it has good coffee(good in that it keeps me awake, not necessarily flavor-wise), and decent desserts(the baklawa is all right, the mud bar is delicious). Contrary to what others seem to experience, the staff has always been delightful and friendly during my visits. Basically, it’s a good place for a quick coffee and sweet fix if you’re on the go.

This used to be the only decent place for coffee before Starbucks moved in. The place has gone down hill since Starbucks. The sandwiches are 95% bread and very little meat. The baked goods are so so. Better to get our coffee at Starbucks and your sandwhich at tastey deli across from Starbucks. Only reason to get coffee and sandwhich here is the shorter lines.

I’m still biased after all these years. Three+ years as an NYP employee, and I am happy to go to a place that is, one, INSIDE of the hospital(no wandering outside on cold or rainy days), two, has tasty soups and(albeit, yeah… slightly higher-than-should-be-priced priced) sandwiches, three, a lovely and engaging staff(…my life would be utterly incomplete without Sandra and Carmen!), and four, tea that only costs a dollar! Harney Tea, too. This all makes for a very happy NYP employee. And a happy employee is… at least… a moderately to extremely productive employee! * * — Today, I plead the former, as I type this at work on much needed tea break.

Overpriced… the people that work here aren’t happy to be here… no prices listed anywhere… can’t do half sandwich/soup. CASH only so be prepared *only positive: I do enjoy their creamy tomato cheddar soup :)

I called before going and asked whether they had outdoor seating and wifi. They said yes to both. When I got there and ordered my food, they told me at the register that they are cash only but that they had an ATM at the back(super annoying). When I went to the ATM, they had a high charge for use of the machine. I sat down outside — their«outdoor seating» are a few teeny tiny tables shoved into a crevice on a ridiculously busy street, with no sunshine, across the street of a hospital with wailing sirens. THEN, when I tried to log onto the wifi they told me they had, I was asked for a password. When I asked the man inside what the password was, he informed that their wifi was not working and that I’d have to connect to one of two other open networks. Well… those didnt connect either. The girl at the register was also extremely rude and talked crap about me in Russian. Never going back there again.

They have creative and tasty sandwiches and wraps, a large variety of coffee drinks/teas/smoothies/juices, baked goods, and they serve Hale and Hearty soups… but the prices are way too steep. Also, while they have free wi-fi, it’s hard to get comfortable in a chair that’s too high for the table.

Umm… this listing is for the café in the lobby NY Presbyterians Children’s Hospital, not the Jou Jou down the street So, if you find yourself seeking a decent lunch on the NYPH campus, JouJou is the only recommendable place. They carry a diverse collection of pre-packaged sandwiches, including vegetarian and seemingly vegan ones too, soups, chips, soda, juice and all that jazz. The line often looks long but it is quick and efficient; this is definitely the best hospital food in the hood.

Same experience as the poster who commented on the credit card logos on the door, and the ATM charges like an additional $ 2 or something. The food is WAY over priced: $ 7 for a tiny little sandwich — about a two or three bite sandwich! Their wireless internet sucks too. Skip this place.

Open 24 hours! Fresh lemonade in the summer, nice, strong coffee year round, best sandwiches in the neighborhood, so much more fun than the Starbucks around the corner.

The Jou Jou Café is a great little place to meet and get some darn good coffee! We went in on a Saturday afternoon and there were quite a few customers all lined-up. They have fresh-squeezed juices(seasonal — watermelon was available when we came in) and a large selection of teas and coffee. According to their sign, they’re open 24 hours, which would be great for those attending Columbia who are up in the middle of the night looking for coffee(and don’t want Starbucks). They only take cash, though.
