The food is just okay(decent) overall. I ate so many times here and the only thing that always bothers me is the customer service. First of all every time when I am ALMOST done with the food they always come and ask if you are done if is okay to bring you the check. It is kind of like they want you to pay and go all at once. Second, every time when they take the money, right away they checked at front of you how much tip you tipped them. If the tips is not enough, the staffs talk to each other very loud about the tips making you aware that you tip them very little, is so awful and awkward! This have happened to me and all of my friends so we decide to avoid these place entirely.

Looks like this place is finished. Used to get takeout here regularly for the past five years but judging by the other recent Unilocal reviews something has gone horribly wrong. They do not pick up the phone and the place is shuttered with some kind of «No Gas, No Business, Sorry» sign on the front window. I never dined in so can’t speak for some peoples’ horrorshow experiences but my takeout was usually pretty good, albeit sometimes inducing a mild to strong case of heartburn. Hey you mess with the spicy stuff be prepared for some digestive jihad, right? Looks like gotta walk farther to Café China or Szechuan Gourmet now. Balls.

Disgusting. Do NOT order from here. As someone who cooks virtually every meal he eats, I know freshness. This is absolutely gross food and they refuse to prepare it the way you ask. Worst General Tsos I’ve had in my life. I just threw out both my main meal and the«fried» pork potstickers after one bite. It’s truly that bad. DONOTORDERFROMHERE. Look at my other reviews. I’m typically very kind and reasonable. It’s that bad. Calling them now to complain.(A first in my life)

It started fine. We took our three teens there while on vacation and ordered four plates plus rice. The food was fast which was nice with kids, but the flavors just ok. We paid our bill and left a little more than 15% tip. The guy brought our check back to us and asked us to leave more. Wtf? He said we had five people so we should leave more. It was totally rude. We walked out but now I wish we had changed our slip to leave none.

Came here with a group of friends to get dinner family style and the whole experience was a bit overwhelming. It took a while for someone to take our order because there was an accident that happened shortly after we sat down so we had to wait till the place got cleaned up before our order was taken. The food was good but a bit oily and their spicy food are extremely spicy. Would I come back? There is a possibility.

I ordered sesame chicken with white meat, they sent me chicken and broccoli, when I called to tell them they sent me the wrong dish she said this is how they make it and then said sorry and hung up. I called back and she hung up on me again.

Delivery came in less than 30min. Ordered chicken lo mein that didn’t come with much veggies and was kind of bland.

THISREVIEWISFORDELIVERYONLY. I ordered the scallion pancakes and hot & sour soup via Seamless — both were not that great. Traditional hot & sour soup has a thicker consistency, loaded with egg, shredded pork, mushrooms etc., but the one from Great Sichuan was the complete opposite. Very watery, tasteless and not the least bit spicy nor sour! The scallion pancakes were a joke. It’s basically just a regular pancake fried in grease. I couldn’t find the tiniest speck of green scallion in there and, they also didn’t provide a dipping sauce(could’ve at least included soy sauce on the side). Very bland, greasy and made me feel sick after. The only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one is because their delivery was prompt. Otherwise, 1 star for food and never ordering again!

So I walk into this restaurant on a Friday morning before the lunch crowd. There are 3 people eating in there so it wasn’t that busy even the lady who works was eating her noodles. I said table for one and I asked if I can sit near the window since it was empty. He said no and bought me to the back. I looked around again and didn’t see a long line of people behind me. I asked if I can there and he’s said no. I asked why and he shook so his head. Then I said don’t worry about it. I’ll go eat somewhere else. This is s review of the people running the restaurant versus the food. I went over to eat at Noodle 28 and the service was much better. It wasn’t busy as well and they even let me sit by the window.

Came here with some classmates after class and the 3 of decided to get the lunch specials. The lunch specials here are decently priced ranging from $ 7 – 10 depending on what you get. The lunch also comes with choice of brown or white rice and choice of soup. We shared family style the pepper steak, General tso chicken, and the shrimp with lobster sauce. Every dish was very saucy and then after a few minutes the sauces all coagulated and became a gluey paste like consistency. They all tasted okayyy but after the paste formed it was just unappetizing. Worst part of the experience was that it was super dead and no background music. So the entire meal the staff was just staring at us. Felt so rushed when we were one of two parties present. I am giving this place 3 stars cause the other times I’ve been here in the past the food was really good. Maybe just the lunch specials are not so great.

**Delivery Review** Its not bad for American Chinese food, but certainly a far cry from the river banks of Sichuan province. Use of Sichuan peppers was healthy and appropriate, but the amount of oil at the top of the dish was off-putting. Had the Ma Po Dofu with Minced Pork. Definitely worth a try if you are in the«I desperately need Chinese takeout» mood, but if you have a better place, I would default there first. Delivery time was around an hour. A bit too long for my tastes.

The biggest winter struggle in New York City isn’t the snowy/sluschy streets but what should we order for lunch that day… With blizzard conditions outside it is always nice to just klick your lunch on the internet. After a Chinese disappointment(home kitchen in FID) we were still seeking some fine-ass Chinese food. So we tried Great Sichuan. aprox. 45 min after we ordered on their site we received a mysterious brown bag which smelled really nice. We gathered the troops and started the war. We started out with a Chinese gem… The Soup Pork Dumpling. A regular dumpling filled with pork swimming in wonton soup. Good, this was good. not perfect but just good. After that we had the sesame chicken, sesame beef and crispy pork. The Beef was a little salt, the chicken a little sweet and the pork so-so. But overall we were not disappointed with this Lunch You can compare the feeling of not learning for an exam, taking it and expecting a D but you end up with B+

In a neighborhood saturated with a surfeit of homogeneous bro-y(read douchey) bars and irish pubs(as well as foreclosed restaurants unfortunately), great sichuan is a welcome haven of authentic ethnic fare. Staying true to its eponymous sichuan region, the restaurant offers a variety of authentic classics like mapo tofu, water boiled fish, oxe tongue and tripe etc. Great Sichuan serves comparable fare to other authentic sichuan restaurants in the city, with reasonable prices and service. Lunch specials available on the weekend is a nice touch, and I have yet to see the place be filled to capacity so walk in with confidence!

VERYYYYRUDECHINESEWAITER! I think he is the owner but he doesnt give a damn about you or your guests. He gave us a lot of attitude when we were ordering and demanded more tips from us when we gave a reasonable amount of tip even after his horrible service. DONTCOMEHERE. The mood of workers will just ruin everyone’s mood. I asked him why he was being rude and he respond by shrugging and saying ‘what?’ Not a friendly environment at all for family, friends, meeting, etc.

About a third of the chinese broccoli in my dish was rotten to the point of fermentation. The chef came out but refused to acknowledge that there was a problem. He argued that since I had finished half the meal there couldn’t have been anything wrong. They refused to exchange my meal or give a refund. I’d like to point out that I’m not a finicky person. I’ve removed the occasional hair and egg shell bit from meals without saying a word. But this place really went too far.

Came here after a long day and the food here hit the spot. I think i thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal. Starting from the hot and sour soup to our different appetizers and the main course, everything was flavorful and well cooked. My favorite was my dish which was a beef noodle soup. The flavor was excellent and there was a lot of meet and a good balance of noodles and vegetables as well. I will be coming back here forrsure

I wish I could leave zero stars. Food was mediocre after the first bite A couple of hours later I had a horrible stomach ache. The service sucks… like seriously Thanks for throwing plates I honestly was hoping something would spill so I could bitch. Then tip wow we left 16 percent and the guy starts bitching saying it’s not enough uhm. well then I guess you shouldn’t get any tip.

Their beef stew noodle is by far the best thing I’ve eaten for lunch in this area. When my colleagues and I can’t decide what to get for lunch, we usually decide on this spot. We rarely ever get a chance to sit down and eat, so majority of the time we take it to go. Order from seamless, and pick it up in 10 mins to save yourself some time. It can be pretty spicy, so ask for mild if you can’t take the heat.

I have been craving soup dumplings for months. Unfortunately, Bloomington Indiana doesn’t have any. Visiting NYC I was determined to get soup dumplings, but we always went to Joe’s Shanghai in Chinatown when I lived in the city, and that was a bit of a hike from my sister’s East side apartment. I turned to trusty Unilocal to find closer soup dumplings. Behold Great Sichuan. After reading both bad and good reviews I decided to risk it and venture here to satisfy my dire craving. I came with a group of 6 friends, anticipating hostile service and decent food. The service was great upon arrival. When coming to a Chinese place like this you expect service to be rigid but we didn’t get that. We had fast, helpful and attentive service. The soup dumplings were excellent — better than Joe’s Shanghai and without the long wait outside in the cold or the«we only seat your whole party» rule(Joe’s gets sassy about this). Along with these dumplings we had several other dishes and another red chili oil dumpling dish. We ate A LOT and had a great time. I will go back! Converted from Joe’s Shanghai. Put a dumpling in my mouth now, please. Thaaaaaanks.

I am still getting emails from the owner. No joke. He is explaining to me still why he must sleep in the front of the restaurant. Maybe our different cultures are getting in the way here. At this point, with him still contacting me, I have to say that they need to lose a star for continuing the poor customer service 5 weeks after the meal.
