Just finished the Chicken Hunan Style. Simply outstanding. Great menu. Its my place to go to when I’m in the mood for authentic Chinese food

Conveniently located by Baruch College. They have a special deal for 4 appetizers and a soup for $ 6 – 7. I ordered the Orange Beef for $ 14 and it’s some of the better that I’ve had. It came with a lot of sauce and I was skeptical about the oil content but I didn’t have any digestive problems, calorie count aside. I’ll be back.

Jimmy’s is laid out like a buffet, but you don’t get to scoop the items yourself. When you walk in behind the glass there are probably 20 dishes to choose from ranging from Chinese classics to more Szechuan based and even some Vietnamese. $ 7 gets you 4 items and a soup, which isn’t bad in the least. It’s a significant amount of food, for real. The main issue here, is that not all items are created equal. Some are solid, others you wouldn’t feed to a pigeon. For $ 7, you might be happy with this hit-or-miss style of lunch, but I’ll probably pass. Bonus: Lots of outdoor tables to eat right next door at Baruch College.

The people in our office order from here quite frequently. I joined them in order for delivery and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered sliced roast pork, baby bok choy and steamed brown rice. It came with a large tub of soup. I have hot sour. What arrive was so much food that I ate it for two meals. And I’m a big eater! Seven bucks. Seven bucks for two meals. It was simply prepared and quite delicious. This is one of my new favorite lunch spots!

Yum!!! I got the mixed vegetables with fry tofu. It was delicious, inexpensive, not too salty, and came really quickly. Good job!

It was a long day at work and I couldn’t shake the idea of a nice bowl chicken lo mien. I was walking down 3rd looking for a new Chinese spot when I noticed a run down little shack with faded mandarin in the window. Despite this, I saw two things I liked: an ‘A’ heath inspector rating and bunch of Asians eating inside(I trust their judgement). The inside of the restaurant was cluttered with handwritten mandarin signs and local business ads. People come to NYC to enjoy cultural food. However, most cultural food will not have an expensive LED sign out front, 400 Unilocal reviews or a place to check-in on Instagram. If you’re looking for an AUTHENTIC Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine, this is the place.

I ordered General Tso’s as part of their lunch special. The chicken pieces themselves weren’t great but you can’t really expect much when ordering General Tso’s but the most upsetting thing was that I found a piece of plastic in meal! It wasn’t even a small little piece, it was the size of a candy wrapper. It probably was something that slipped in but certainly a red flag in my view and shows how little they probably care for the quality of their food.

More 3.5 or 3.75. Best deal in Kips Bay/Flat Iron district. Fresh rice, brown or white, and 4 different choices. I usually chose 3 meats and a veggie. The veggie is my attempt to be healthy. Oh Atkin’s, I wish I was a disciple. High end, no. Low end, definitely not. Comfortably in the middle, resoundingly yes. The deal makes this a top choice.

Serves Sezchuan cuisine. Cheapest place to eat at Baruch. People usually buy the boxed lunches where your can choose white rice or fried rice and four dishes.

I stopped by here around 7 and got the rice/4 items/soup just for $ 6. Solid price! My only issue lies in the quality of the food(what else is there really?). I really wanted to like it. It has a real hole-in-the-wall, authentic feel that I thought it was going to soar past the shabby, physical exterior in quality of food. Sadly this was not the case. The food was below average I would say. The rice was good(plain brown rice) but the meats were very fatty and full of bones. The fish I had had so many small bones in it I couldn’t believe. The owners seemed nice though(the woman does not speak a word of English it seems).

Jimmys house gives a lot of food for the price. You get 4 items with rice and a soup for only 7 dollars. I usually get fried rice with eggplants, general tsos chicken, salt and pepper pork, and tofu. The soup is between hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. The drawback of this restaurant is that some items may be cold, lack flavor, or over cooked. So it can be very hit or miss but you’ll get a huge meal.

This place is awesome! It’s great on value and taste. I went after 7pm and it was 4 sides and 1 soup for $ 6, and the food actually tastes like Chinese home cooking! Most of the dishes they have are also actually Chinese. It’s a great place if you’re looking for a cheap and yummy bite to eat. I only knocked a star because I went there once before around 12:30pm and they didn’t have any food out even though they’re supposed to open at 11am. Not sure why, must have been late to start or something that day. But the second experience totally made up for it!

Wow, this place is the bomb. Seeing the selection of food here took me back to my days in Singapore, trying to decide which meats and vegetables I wanted for my meal. There’s all kinds of authentic Chinese entrees — spare ribs, spicy chicken, egg and tomato, steamed chicken with ginger, braised chicken, sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu… I’m sold. It’s a lot of food for $ 7 in the day and $ 6 after 7 pm. You can also choose between white rice and brown rice, and you can get an order of egg drop soup or spicy pepper soup or chicken broth. I’ve had Jimmy’s House twice in two days and I *may* go back on the third!

I can’t believe i haven’t reviewed this place yet. Been coming here since the college days as it’s right next to Baruch. when u go during lunch time there’s always a line tho it moves fairly quickly. It’s a small Chinese take out place where they r known for offering 4 dishes with rice and a soup for almost $ 7. Huge portion and good food, the folks who works there are very nice too.

The sign seemed appealing. 4 items and a soup for $ 7 or $ 6 after 7pm. Stopped by after work for some carryout. My guess the place caters to Baruch students next door and thus the large portions and cheap prices. Wasn’t terribly impressed with the selection. I probably got food sitting out for awhile since I stopped by at night as it was seemingly dry(the pork that is). I suspect they use MSG because after my meal I felt drowsy and passed out as if a bag of bricks hit me. Could be just me but just sayin.

This place is for homestyle steam table Chinese food. Expect what you’d get at a «lunch box» place in chinatown — lots of vegetable options with meat added for flavor, bone in cuts of meat, etc. Don’t expect good American-Chinese food(if that’s ever good…). Not what this is for. I come here for lunch a lot because I live near by, it’s pretty cheap for kips bay, and it’s comforting if you’re into this style of food. I get the 4 items combo. My favorites are the steamed chicken, minced green beans with ground pork, stewed pumpkin and pickled cabbage, and wheat gluten. Food isn’t the highest quality but the portions are huge and they have brown rice! The staff is also nice, especially since I don’t speak chinese, but this place can be tough if you’re uninitiated with real deal chinese food. Like wtf stir fried potatoes? Tomato and egg? Just try what looks good. It’s way better than kung pao chicken and chow mein delivery anyway.

Probably the best Chinese you can get within the neighborhood. The prices are cheap especially for the lunch buffet. The menu items are pretty cheap and the food is the good. I think my favorite part about this place is that the wontons are hand made in the location and not mass produced like your typical take outs wontons. The free crispy noodles that you get with the soups are also hand made which I always look forward too– not something you see too often in all of Manhattan. I use to have a lot of lunch meetings and would use them to cater the lunches. For catering, they were always on time and always helped with your budget.

I ordered on a Sunday night I received my order over an hour after I placed my order. I ordered shrimp’s and lobster sauce a veggie roll, vegetable lo mein and shrimp toast. Everything was horrible other than the shrimp toast I will never order from this place again and I suggest you don’t either.

#Pick4items over rice with soup. #$ 6.95 these days for lunch. #still a good deal considering how much food you get and how much lunch costs these days. #Plus for being able to eat multiple sauteed vegetables dishes for NYC lunch #Although, if you are vegetarian, note that a lot of the vegetables dishes have meat in it. #Plus for having meat in the vegetable dishes
