The bar is beautiful and the bartender was a great guy. The owner was sitting next to us and ended up buying us drinks and a shot. No real better way of exceeding expectations than a couple free drinks. My whole party all loved the food as well. Solid joint.

Went for brunch. Bartender found it necessary to show me a photo of her and Brooke Shields… as Fleetwood Mac said, «I’m never going to go back again.»

I came here with a few girlfriends for our annual Valentines Day boozy brunch. For $ 17, you get AYCD sparkling wine + chef’s starter + entrée. On the surface, it’s a fantastic deal. I arrived about 10 minutes late and everybody was already seated and sipping on their glasses of wine. The waitress seated me promptly and offered a glass so I could partake in the festivities. Drinks were poured generously, even after we paid the check. The food was a different story altogether. To start, the chef’s starter consisted of a basket of tiny, dry blueberry muffins. You know, the muffins you get in those snack packs back in elementary school. — Grace’s scotch egg — Soft boiled egg, crab & lobster sausage, spicy aioli, and hash browns. While unique in presentation, the taste fell flat. The boiled egg rested inside a nest of crab & lobster meat, deep fried and crunchy on the exterior. The sausage meat was too dry and hash browns were under seasoned and could have used another few minutes in the skillet. Despite the disappointing first bite, my appetite was already whetted by the two glasses of wine I had on an empty stomach, and I ravenously polished off my eggs and hash browns. Come here if you’re looking to get drunk off of sparkling wine, but not if you’re expecting quality food.

The friendly owner was glad-handing people on the street when we wandered by. We ended up choosing this gastropub based on our lively conversation and mutual agreement that Boston and Bostonians suck. If only all restaurant choices were so easy! The inside was very classy, dark woods and dramatic recessed/spot lighting. My husband got the BBQ sampler platter and it was a huge pile of tasty, well-seasoned meats from various animals. The salad was unexpectedly fantastic, fresh spring greens, veggies, and a light vinaigrette. The cocktails were really tasty, I had something with rum in it, the hubs had a gin drink and we left happy and satisfied at 11:30pm.

This review is based only on service and drinks; I did not have any food. I found pictures on Unilocal of a delicious looking bloody Mary from this place so I just had to come here and try one. I believe it’s called The Bloody Tyrant. It’s only on the brunch menu so if you try to look for it on the dinner menu you won’t find it. Also make sure you ask for the Tyrant and not just just a regular bloody. It took a little while to make but it was worth the wait! It was such a fresh refreshing drink. The super nice bartender explained how the have mastered the pickle purée and they use fresh tomato juice. The drink comes with a cheese wedge, pickles, sausage, and shrimp. And an oyster shooter on the side. It was really good and to me worth the $ 14 it costed. I really want to come back here for the brunch!

Although I walk by Grace every week, I officially took notice of the restaurant when it was featured in a few city blogs for its all-female ownership. That really caught my attention, and I made a mental note to visit this establishment so I could pay my respects. The cocktail menu is curated by a team of female mixologists who honed their skills at some of the best cocktail bars in the city(Dead Rabbit, Raines Law Room, Middle Branch, NoMad). Cocktails aside, the menu is worthy of a mention. We decided to do our Sunday brunch here after having casually glanced at it from the street a week ago. The current menu differs a bit from the menu online(there are no fish tacos, BLT, Vanilla pancakes, or codfish sandwich options in the restaurant version). But the Brunch special remained the same: $ 17 for a brunch entrée and unlimited champagne. FOOD: My boyfriend ordered the crab cakes eggs benedict, and I ordered the«Scotch Egg.» GETTHESCOTCHEGG. It’s a soft boiled egg enveloped in a crust of lobster and crab sausage, and served with a side of hash and well-marinated frisee. You don’t see this item on many brunch menus. AMBIANCE: The décor is reminiscent of a pirate’s wooden ship. There is dark wood paneling that’s offset by a plethora of lighted candles and gilded mirrors. There’s also carpeting on the floors near the back end of the restaurant, which gives off a homey and upscale feel to the place. Tips: 1) I would make reservations if you plan to eat here from 12:30pm and afterwards. 2) If you are interested in after work cocktails and light fare, this place would be a great option.

Embarrassingly, I have only visited NYC two times in my life, so I am by no means an expert on NYC restaurants or happy hours. However, my friend and I did walk down 3rd street for about ten minutes looking for the best happy hour and this one won hands down. Grace has an impressive draft list that included Bells, Allagash, Bluepoint, Peak Organic, and some other really solid breweries I had never heard of before but now plan to look out for. All of these draft beers are only $ 5, except Guinness. It is mind boggling that out of all their delicious and comparably expensive drafts they choose Giunness to charge more for. It is kind of like a really nice steak house charging more for their chicken dish than their Kobe beef, ridiculous, but at the end of the day who cares, I came for the steak(delicious craft beer). The restaurant was relatively big and had large windows in the front that opened, helping to lighten the otherwise dimly lit restaurant. It was nothing to write home about, but I thought the ambiance was enjoyable and the service was both knowledgeable and friendly. Having only tried about .01% of the restaurants in the city now, it is doubtful I will be back here again soon, but if this restaurant was transplanted into my neighborhood in DC I would definitely be a regular patron.

This place isn’t terrible, but it isn’t great, either. It’s WAY expensive for what it is. I live in the neighborhood, so I appreciate that it’s not a Bride and Tunnel d-bag bar like so many other spots around here, but it could be better. The cocktails are overpriced and lackluster, and the food, while tasty, is just priced a little too high for me to become a regular. Plus, I was out with my cousin celebrating my engagement and we had had several glasses of $ 11 – 12 wine and a meal, and at the end of the meal, my cousin cutely told the waitress that we’d like to order a glass of bubbly each to celebrate the occasion. The waitress said«Sure, of course» and came back with two somewhat chintsy pours of sparkling something. She provided no information about this and just gave it to us. The bill came and each glass was $ 25?! We were horrified. As a former waitress, I know that when a customer orders something without seeing a menu and you know it’s twice as pricey as what they had been just drinking, you say something politely so the customer is at least aware. The waitress saw dollar signs and went for it, but unfortunately that left a very bad taste in our mouths. Short-sighted staff.

Came here with my college girlfriends for our annual Valentine’s day brunch. I was super excited for the bottomless sparkling wine brunch(especially because soon this was be history like Pluto being downgraded from a planet). The brunch special is $ 17 for the champagne, starter and entrée. The starter is… a mini bite size muffin. Like the little bags you use to get in elementary school as a snack. To eat, I ordered the crab cake benedict. My biscuits were a little dry and not very fluffy. The crab cakes were okay and had a good ratio of crab to filler. The best part is they were very good at refilling our glasses with the sparkling wine and the restaurant wasn’t crowded at all so we were able to be loud and laugh without judging stares. She even topped us off as we got our bill!

Recently came here for brunch with a bunch of girlfriends on a Saturday afternoon. Grace has an AYCD champagne brunch option that includes an appetizer, entrée, and unlimited sparkling wine for $ 17. What sets the restaurant apart from typical brunch establishments is that it is actually all you can drink instead of the usual 2-hour/only-if-there’s-food time limit. Our waitress kept our glasses filled before we received our food, during actual ingestion of food, and topped us off even after the dishes were cleared and we had already paid the bill. Unfortunately the quality of the food just fell short. The appetizer was a small sad bite of a mini muffin(Entenmanns is better) and my crème brûlée pumpkin french toast entrée was charred black. I was too hungry and intoxicated by that point to complain, but I’m pretty sure the sparkling wine failed to negated the carcinogens in my body after ingestion. Perhaps the savory dishes are better; my girlfriend’s Irish Breakfast looked like it could feed a small family. Bottomline: Have brunch at Grace if you want to get trashed but don’t expect to be wowed by the food. Also, stay away from the French Toast– your body will thank you when you don’t get cancer 20 years down the line.

My girlfriends and I decided to hold our annual pre-vday all girl brunch at Grace after learning their aycd sparkling wine + entrée + chef’s starter for $ 17 deal. Making the reservation was extremely easy since it is accessible through opentable(even for 10+ ppl)! The hostess texted half hr before to confirm and had our table ready for us when we arrived. As our group of girls slowly arrived individually, they began serving us sparkling wine from the brunch deal. By the time all the girls arrived and were ready to place our order, I already downed two good glasses myself! They started us off with complimentary Chef’s starter which were bite size blueberry muffins — super cute but unfortunately a bit dry and honestly nothing special. Our waitress was quick in clearing our table immediately after we finished the last muffin(I literally was taking my last bite), The Grace’s Scotch eggs, Crab cake egg Benedict, pumpkin French toasts, and Irish breakfast were served soon after. Grace’s scotch egg — 2 soft boiled eggs with coating that was very similar to my crab cake actually — perhaps same seasoning? Tasty but not memorable. Didn’t get to try the crab and lobster sausage but my girlfriends polished their plates. Crab cake egg benny — the poached eggs were more on the soft boiled side(no runny yolks), the biscuits were a bit dry and tasteless. The hash was a bit under seasoned and undercooked. Thank goodness for Tabasco sauce! Pumpkin French toasts — I was so surprised they were not embarrassed to serve us burnt toasts. My girls really were just too nice to say anything. Irish breakfast — first glance, portion was huge! Didn’t get a taste but my girlfriend made a good dent. Overall — food was mostly a miss. Service was ok — our waitress was the only person serving all the brunch tables so it was understandable. We had to ask for refill of our wine every time but we managed to get a good average of 4 glasses per person. Even after we had our food bagged up and asked for our check, our waitress was still willing to pour us one last round. Although it was a bargain for aycd brunch in the city, not sure the price justify the quality of food we received.

A neighborhood gem! I came to Grace for happy hour(4−7pm M-F) and thought it was a great spot. We were greeted at the door when we arrived and sat at the bar. It was fairly crowded(at 6pm) with an afterwork, slightly older crowd that wasn’t your normal Third Avenue Bro-Scene(come on, you know what I mean). I had the oysters($ 1.50 each) and my boyfriend had the spinach and artichoke dip(which was tasty). A nice selection of beers on tap($ 5, except Guinness) and I had a glass of wine($ 7). I’d come back.

I came to Grace to have some happy hour drinks with friends since it’s a new addition to our neighborhood. The bar needed some processing help — one bartender was MAJOR slow the other on point. I had two drinks, two experiences. I just got the plain wine of the happy hour but others got the scotch cocktail that was being offered and liked it. I liked the vibe in there — a cozy and classier version of the bar that was there before. The menu was not friendly to vegetarians so we did not try, but maybe one day for brunch. Until now, eh there are more options.

«The value of the well is not known until it goes dry.» An old saying paring accurately with the Gaelic hospitality slogan of this high quality gem. Grace Bar has a real personality and surely deserves its fast appraisal from clients and critics. A no-bro high-end pub in Kips Bay? What an attractive concept for fans of good drinks who know how rich the Irish liquor heritage is. James Jameson would be happy to see an after-work crowd celebrating the end of the day while appreciating the true value of the beverages. I came to Grace on a Friday evening and saw professionals probably in their 30s. No mêlée or loud claims of European descent despite the very social vibe. This is not an Irish speakeasy, but a very pleasant bar which washes away all the nasty connotation that pubs may have. Additionally, many credits to the designer of the premises. The bar is very simple, clean cut and elegant. The wooden tone perfectly highlights the old framed black and white pictures and paintings. Bar space is easily accessible, even when you are seated on the side of the wall. The dining room in the back can accommodate close to 40 guests so don’t feel down if the entrance is crowded. One last detail: the neon Triquetra in the bar room adds a mystic touch to the authenticity of the premises. But now let’s please Mayor Bloomberg and deal with real drinking business. Grace has a true vision of drink crafting, thanks to talented mixologists who have nothing to prove(resumes including the Dead Rabbit, Cover Club, Death & Co and The NoMad). Just as for Mayahuel, for example, the bar will serve you interesting combinations of classic cocktails with an Irish twist. Among them, the Blind Abbot is an Old Fashioned hybrid to which cold coffee is added. The result is strong, tasty and fresh drink with a creamy texture which will remind you of Bailey’s(taste aside, of course). The non whiskey-centric will find other Rum and Gin-based choices. The Rockfleet, combining aged Rum, St Germain and blanc Vermouth, reaches an interesting balance of sweet and bitterness. On the other hand, the more pragmatic whiskey drinker can certainly choose a Whiskey Sour, which truly regains its status of classic cocktail at Grace’s. All tastes are superbly represented and are available at a bargain: $ 12. Perhaps the only caveat to this quality was a longer waiting time than in other bars. Now order and get lucky. Grace masters both a great setting and excellent cocktails. You should adopt it for an early evening drink. Now might be the time to go: this place is not as big as the Tippler and might get extremely packed as hip builds on quickly but surely in the City. Sláinte!

Grace is def worth the hype. I’m not a cocktail person but the blind abbott & the westport were so good, tried really hard not to chug. they are perfect holiday drinks even if you are not a whiskey person. the clare island was ok, but i prefer whiskey to rum so maybe that’s why i wasn’t impressed with this twist on old fashioneds. their old fashioned was also very tasty. the clams were really fishy but nothing a little more freshly squeezed lemon couldn’t cure. the spinach artichoke dip was too sour(from the artichokes?) but the warm tortilla chips were delicious. the deviled eggs with pancetta were awesome, creamy + the crisp of the fried pancetta, and the charcuterie and cheese plate was great – the bread slices come grilled so they are smokey which adds to the flavors. i’m taking off a star because the music was kind of strange for the ambience and way too loud. maybe they are trying to be more fun and upbeat? not sure but the place is absolutely beautiful esp with the holiday decorations(strewn lights and colorful hanging ornaments all over the restaurant which is huge, it just keeps going after you first enter and pass the front bar). the servers are all great and very sweet/attentive. ill def be back.

I came here for a friend’s bday. She reserved the entire lounge area between the bar and dining room for her party. The doorman was friendly. I ordered the Greenwich Palace cocktail–(made w/Beefeater24 gin and lime juice). It was sweet and sour. A bit similar to a lemondrop. Unlike the lemon drop, this cocktail was strong. I was quickly buzzed after one drink– which rarely happens to me. Overall, the place looked nice and clean. Will definitely be back to try out some of the food here.
