Sorry Table 5 but you have really gone downhill. After a great experience and a 5 star review, I’ve had two extremely frustrating visits, one last year and one last night. We had the same server on both occasions. Last night he was more concerned about having to turn on the air conditioning every 15 minutes(as he told us about 5 times) then making sure that his tables were taken care of. Cheese plate was meh — came with a handful of crackers, no French bread or anything. The butter that they served with the dinner rolls was gross — it was a flavored garlic butter which you think would be tasty — but not this. The rolls were hard and flavorless. Mussells were disappointing, not swimming in any type of delicious broth — actually quite dry. We also ordered the filet — which was a 6 oz cut for over $ 32 — it should be perfect. Medium rare came out medium well and the scallop dish was only mediocre. The rice was coconut flavored but colored green — not really appetizing. When we told the server we were not satisfied he did offer to take it off the bill which we did but did not go above or beyond to try and repair the bad tastes in our mouths. Won’t be back!

This was our first time dining at Table 5. We drove almost an hour to meet friends for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. I noted in our reservation that this was special occasion, our anniversary, yet we were seated at a 4 top directly in the center of the room, pretty much the worst table in the house. We asked to be moved to the open table against the window and were accommodated. Our Anniversary was on a Wednesday, and part of the attraction to this restaurant was that their website advertises special 3-course meals for $ 25. However, when we asked for that menu, we were told that the restaurant was not offering it this day because they had a couple large tables and the chef couldn’t handle it. That was a disappointment. The restaurant was very hot. Our server explained that the owners had just purchased another restaurant down the road, so the money went into air conditioning that place instead of upgrading the air conditioner here. We took it upon ourselves to open the door adjacent to the window to get some airflow, which cooled the table down considerably. I wish the server had thought to open the door long before we did during the dessert course. The drinks were tasty, although the Mules were not served in traditional copper mugs. The cheese course was very nice, with a good variety of cheese and enough for four people to snack on. Bread came out with two flavored butters, both of which were good, but we quickly ran out of butter. Maybe we just consume too much butter. The entrees ran from average(scallops, trout) to good(duck). Our server was very good. He made sure to get answers for our questions if he didn’t know right off. He was pleasant and helpful. After the dinner had a few missteps, he offered to comp two of our four desserts. That was kind and pleasantly unexpected. Grandma’s butter cake was a hit, and while the superman crème brûlée was certainly fun, it was more to please a child’s palate(we just HAD to try it though!). This was not a bad experience, but it certainly wasn’t worth a return visit.

Came out for my birthday dinner with my hubby and had a good martini and cheese board. The air conditioner was broken and the room was 83+ degrees. Asked for the special porter house steak and was told they were out, so asked to substitute sweet potato(on menu) for white potato and was told I couldn’t. Asked for my filet mignon medium and it came well done. Will not be back this place has gone downhill perhaps due to the«chef»…

Horrible experience. Took 1.5 hrs to get food, finally got food and 3 of our plates were cold — potatoes not cooked, filet cold. The way management tried to resolve the issue wasn’t impressive. Finally our waitress took off two appetizers… thanks for comping 10 dollars off our 36 cold steak.

Bottom line on top: Location = 5; Food=4, Ambiance=4, Service=3. Overall very good. Would I dine here again? Yes Would I recommend it to others? Yes. I dined here with my wife on a Saturday night @ 8:30pm(using OpenTable to make our reservation which worked quite well). I ordered the stone bass with soba noodles; my wife got the scallops with butternut squash. We shared our dishes and agreed that the stone bass was spectacular; 5 stars; would definitely order again — whereas the scallops were a 3.5; OK, but nothing special; wouldn’t order again. We both had salads and a glass of white wine, and thorougly enjoyed our respective choices. The dessert we shared(Michigan apple crumble) was nice, but we probably wouldn’t order it again. Why not a 5-star rating? The service was noticeably the weakest link. It wasn’t bad, per se, but certainly not what I would hope for and expect from a higher-end restaurant. Our server was clearly hustling, moving throughout the restaurant — that is, he wasn’t lazy. But he was very deadpan; no joie de vivre, no noticeable enthusiasm for his job and no apparent desire to ensure our positive experience. After he came to our table twice without introducing himself, I finally asked him his name; I shouldn’t have had to do that(like«pulling teeth»). Because I believe pleasant and attentive service is such an integral and vital part of any dining experience(especially if this restaurant wants to compete with restaurants in, say, Birmingham or Ann Arbor), I’d encourage Table 5 to focus on providing better training for their servers. Everything else was Very Good to Excellent.

Great location. Right in the middle of downtown Northville. We ordered a bottle of Robert Craig Cabernet and the cheese plate. Wine service is a little more casual than I expected and the server didn’t tell us what was on the cheese plate. Not a big deal, it’s probably not a part of their service requirements, but it may have added a special touch. Our server was on top of our table and was very hospitable. We ordered the scallops, lamb shank, osso bucco, salmon, and filet mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection but the osso bucco was a little dry. Overall great experience.

2nd trip to Novi for work this year and 2nd time at Table 5. Great place with outstanding food! Will come back next time we are here in October. I had to try the halibut and it exceeded my expectations. Shared the mussels with my colleague and also amazing.

My dining group dined at Table 5 last Saturday for the first time. It will NOT be the last. We were by far the largest group in the restaurant, 12 people. Table 5 went out of their way to give us a first class experience. The service and food were excellent. I have no problem recommending Table 5 to family and friends.

Been here many times and love it! My favorite things: trout pâté, banana chocolate martinis(all of their dessert martinis are delicious), and the fresh made butter combo. Portions on mains are small and expensive, but the quality is there. Fantastic ingredients with great presentation.

Earlier this month we checked out Table 5 for the first time with another couple(to celebrate a birthday). We had reservations and although we arrived early, we were seated immediately. The beer and wine list was impressive(definitely enough diversity) but it was the FOOD that blew us away! We ordered the mussels and the tuna tartar; the mussels were delicious and the tuna tartar was the best any of us have ever had. I STILL crave it! Our entrees were spectacular and everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the salmon dish and said that it was the best salmon she’d ever had. We all sampled bites of each others’ meals and were not disappointed! We will definitely be back for a romantic dinner for two or another small gathering.

My wife and I visited Table 5 for the first time on a Wednesday evening. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and T5 was great! I had made a reservation using Open Table, and we were given a table right away. Our waiter was timely, friendly, and was knowledgeable with the menu. Our meal consisted of calamari for the appetizer, entrees were lamb chops and walleye. Dessert was a combination peach and blueberry pie. The food was the star of the show and the portion sizes seemed perfect. We were in the restaurant for 1.5 hours. I would recommend Table 5 if you are looking for quiet and relaxing dinner with high quality food. The patio also looks to be a popular spot on nice weather days. Negatives: Difficult to park car near the door because T5 does not have a dedicated parking lot. Street parking was limited so we needed to park in the structure behind the restaurant. It was a short walk. Thankfully it was not raining.

Ran out of Bibb lettuce for the wedge but accommodated nicely by making a Gorgonzola and romaine combo. Could have had more dressing though. The scallops and corn combo were fantastic. Proportioned nicely and cooked perfectly. Hubby says the halibut was«awesome, really very good» and it changed his opinion after the salad incident. His portion was correctly sized as well. I enjoyed the strawberry lemon butter. It was a nice little surprise with the bread.

Okay worst experience. I don’t ever throw the race card down, but either the staff is racist or they only give high quality service to the majority white regulars(ie we ordered our drinks before the couple next to us even sat down, the waitress brings their drink first and even takes their order first). It was slow and our food was sub par. They were super chatty with a lot of the patrons, and seemed to forget to check on us or bring us our check. My son’s hamburger was super dry. For a high end restaurant to mess up a simple kids slider to the point where my son who eats pretty much everything refuses it, well you can pretty much guess the quality. Fyi for those thinking our english made them feel uncomfortable, my wife was born in the US and I’ve lived here for over 10 years now.. .

Table 5 has always been a favorite restaurant, so it was our logical first choice for hosting a rehearsal dinner for our son and his beautiful bride last weekend. EVERYTHING exceeded our expectations… the staff was incredible, the food was equally incredible, the service and bar service were outstanding and we received compliments from one or more people at each table throughout the night about the quality of the food, atmosphere and service. The dishes at Table 5 are unique but not overly fussy – just different enough to stand out, but pleasing to everyone and certainly fit for foodies. The appetizers were a huge hit, especially the chickpea fritters and the potsticker ravioli. And I am looking forward to my next trip to Northville in a few months just to have a repeat order of the halibut, which is a signature dish at Table 5. Oh, and there just isn’t enough room here for me to rave about the desserts. Needless to say, we were fans before… but now we are HUGE fans. Thanks, Table 5, for helping us make some amazing memories in your beautiful restaurant. We will return again and again.

I happily give it four stars for overall service and quality of food, but I’d give it a negative rating for graciousness for simple special requests. Each dish here is complete – there are no choices to be made. And that’s fine as long as you like and can eat what’s included. Tonight, my husband ordered the chicken, but wanted a different vegetable. Our server said she needed to check with the chef. When she returned she said, «He’s too busy to make the substitution.» TOOBUSY? Really? Even if he is, that’s 1) a crappy, non-gracious way to frame the«no,» and 2) too damn bad. My husband ended up not ordering anything at all, and, had we not been with a group, we would have left. I won’t return – ever.

First time here last night with friends celebrating my wife’s birthday. All I can say is, WOW. Service and food were outstanding. Not a very big place. Nice décor. Bar is small and there are a couple of additional tables. Rebecca was our server and she did a great job explaining the specials, the menu and how each choice would be prepared. Nice to know how and what is going into your meal. The menu is just my type, not too big and a nice selection of meat, seafood and pasta. Cheese and olive appetizer was very good but the olives could have been a little larger. Salads were a nice portion and could be split. Two of us had the Michigan Whitefish special, one had the pork loin and one had seared scallops. ALL were just great. I have to give a big thank you to Rebecca for making this a very pleasant meal, She was very attentive, friendly and helpful. wish all servers could be this way.

I’m not really sure what to make of this place. It’s expensive and has all the face value elements it needs to be great… decent service, decent ingredients and great location but it was a miss for us. We had a reservation and came in after a Tipping Point Show for Valentine’s Day. We sat at the bar for a cocktail while we waited for our table to be ready. The bartender was a little loud when he did acknowledge us but didn’t really bother to say hello for the first several minutes, which made sitting there kind of awkward. Additionally, the bar area is really drafty so during winter months take a seat as far back as you can. When we were sat we placed an order for some fried calamari and an order of their gnocchi. The calamari was pretty basic, the gnocchi was definitely worth getting again. For the mains, I ordered a steak from their daily specials. The T-bone was a little overpriced and a little grisly but I liked the potato purée it was sitting on. The root vegetables were OK but nothing was amazing here. Service was solid and the dining room is cozy but I’d try another spot rather than come back here.

This review is long overdue. I visited Table 5 around late August as a treat to myself. I left happy, full, and impressed. It’s a little louder than I would have liked, kind of small, and the service(while efficient and familiar with the menu) isn’t all that«warm». However, what they DO well here is the food — exceptionally. I’m not sure they can do anything wrong. Every item I ordered was better and better. I began with the kale salad(my server suggested), which I completely cleared. The entrée I ordered was a scallop dish. It was complimented with a blend of noodles and wasabi vegetables(I can’t recall all that was with it, but it was good). The combination was divine. I highly recommend this dish, although I think it may be a seasonal thing. Not to fear if that is no longer on the menu, as everything I tried was great. For dessert, I decided to choose between a dessert martini or dessert — I couldn’t — so I chose both. I had the chocolate banana martini(which tasted just as it sounds — heaven!) and a rhubarb dish that was unlike anything I have had in other establishments. I am partial to rhubarb though and consider it most under-appreciated… but that really blew my mind. I could not have anticipated a better time. The crowd around me was also pleasant. I can not wait to find an excuse to go back.

First and foremost I’d like to compliment the other diners’ waiter, Phil. He was awesome. Phil was upbeat, happy to be there and picked up where our waiter fell short. He was definitely on the ball and pleasant to talk to. Thanks Phil :) So… ‘dressy” was listed under attire on Unilocal. In my world dressy means cocktail dress, then I remember we are in Michigan so that just means no runners, hole-y jeans, caps, etc. The waiters wear jeans, some even had on tennies. So there you go. Ambiance was great– some artsy fartsy pieces, nice french doors, bar area with a TV turned to the mockery that is the Detroit Lions, separate dining area. My only issue was with the lighting. It was SODIM that I had to use the flashlight app on my phone to actually see what I was eating! SERIOUSLY! My sister had: ~Pear Salad which didn’t have enough pears to actually qualify as a Pear Salad. ~Salmon was also just ok as it was served with a white sauce instead of a preferred sweet dressing. ~Potatoes and beets served with her entrée were delish! For starters, I might have scarfed down the Chipotle Tomato Soup-just the right level of hotness! Then I enjoyed: ~Scallops with swiss chard and Yuzo sauce which is a Japanese Lemon sauce drizzled over top. Note: the sauce isn’t very lemony but is sweet and exquisite. ~Superb parmesan mashed potatoes completed the meal. NOTE for VEGAN/VEGETARIANS: This meal does have small surprise pieces of bacon that you can eat around. OFNOTE: I just checked their on-line menu– although scallops and salmon are on both the online and paper menu the fish were not prepared as the online menu indicates and not served with items listed– totally different meals! ONLINEMENUISNOTUPTODATE! Last note: the menu on 12÷22÷12 was heavy towards fish which is a very welcomed change from the usual.(Not a large selection of meat entrees)
