This is the second time I’ve stopped by this place to buy truffles and was unsuccessful. The first time was the Northville Art Fair. The second time was today. There are no hours posted on the website or in the store, which they share with Browndog Creamery. Very frustrating.

I went there to get chocolate for my girl friend for VDay. Big mistake. The manager which I’m assuming was Renee was mean. And snobby. I couldn’t deal with her. Luckily, she had what looked to be her mother or mother in law working I think her name was Nana. She helped me get what I needed. Although I won’t be back, I do appreciate Nana’s help.

Chocolate is really evil for me but I was lured to sample in this place. I also chose to buy some to tempt others and spread the guilt. They are friendly and helpful and the goods are very nice. The chocolates are handmade on site using local ingredients, yep you can justify your indulgence here with the old buying local excuse. You will find all the usual suspects here as well as some unique tastes, anything your inner little chocoholic monster is craving. I was intrigued by the mammoths, which are chunks of caramel corn mixed with cashews, pecans or macadamias then drizzled in dark chocolate but I refrained from buying any myself. The homemade butter almond toffee is lovely as are the coconut clusters according to my dad, both of these seem to be very popular picks here too. I did sample a chocolate dipped pretzel rod, which was quite tasty. The dark chocolate cherry cluster was a very happy Michigan made treat, a perfect match in my book. I also bought nice champange truffles here as well as a delightful spice infused truffle concoction called some like it hot. My fave product I have tried from here so far though are the dark chocolate covered caramels with sea salt. It is a decadent combo of rich, sweet, salty and creamy with a delightful touch of bitter. Mmmmmm. Yep this store could send me into a sugar coma… but what a way to go!

Very disappointed. I bought truffles & assorted candies for my chocolate loving husband. He’s usually a Godiva fan but I thought I would try something new. I should have sampled before buying but too late now. Chocolate is waxy – doesn’t melt when eaten. You shouldn’t have to chew chocolate. 1 lb of cohoclate & truffles and a few other treats were $ 46. Really Whitman’s sampler quality – not what I expected from handmade fresh chocolates.
