Great food. Exotic species: buffalo, elk, venison to name a few. Prepared deliciously. Not too expensive.

I wanted to try this place for a long time but was a little underwhelmed I got the Ribeye Steak and my SugarBush got the Salmon… Her fish was over cooked my steak was cooked perfect but had way to much fat on it seriously spitting chunks of fat out into my napkin… I was so disappointed from all the good reviews especially since it was a little over 70.00 for the both of us with tip I Love Unicorns

Rustic and charming, I really enjoyed my experience at Deadwood Bar & Grill. The food is good, but not great. It more than makes up for this with its laid back ambiance, free pool tables, and decent beer on tap. Plus, they have an appetizer that’s centered on pickles ;) How can you go wrong with pickles?!

Love this place. Decided to get the following tonight: Venison chili = on point, amazing! Side garden salad = so fresh, great portion Fried chicken = $ 16 great portion, so good. Counting down the days until I am going back to get that. Corn bread muffin was very good and the corn tasted like corn I had never had before! All around great experience. Going to bed happy.

Great meal! Had the«Road Kill Grill» complete with the bumper sticker. The venison was wrapped in bacon and prepared to a perfect medium rare. The quality was moist and tasty. The wild boar sausage was seasoned to perfection. I was not expecting much from the side but was pleasantly surprised by perfectly cooked wild rice, tasty corn and very soft and sumptuous dark bread. Good draft beer selection and attentive service topped off the evening. I understand the half duck and prime rib(only available weekends) are local favorites. Highly recommend!

Fast service, great food. I got the calamari sticks which was a nice change from the norm of rings. Was a little sceptical as they are larger pieces, I worried they would be rubbery, but only had a slight bit of chewiness. The apple and brie sandwich was awesome. I love a good grilled cheese, and this was a nice twist. I am unfortunately not from the area, but if I do come back to the area I would definitely return.

Always great hearty food at the Deadwood. Prime rib is a. staple here. The service is always frendly and courtious. The atmosphere is hunting log cabin and If you get bored there are 2 pool tables.

We decided to go here after work around 4.30 pm. Their Mojito isn’t the best, but pretty good. Other Martinis were sooo good. Their Calamari sticks are to die for! We were 6 of us and everyone shared so i got to try 6 different dishes. You wont go wrong with any chicken pastas for sure. Thwy have a very cozy patio perfect for relaxing with martini after work. Only thing I did not like were the garlic buttered toast they give. It was soaked in butter. Amost like a french toast except it was dipped in garlic butter instead of eggs.

It is what I imagine suburban people who have never been to the woods or eat game meat think a wilderness hunting lodge should be like. Food isnt very good, it is ok, just not good. Ive tried a few times and still do not like it.

I was lured in by the interesting menu. Based on experience, my wife and I felt certain that any chef who assembled such a menu would be creative. We were mistaken. I had the Traverse City Chicken Burger which was quite good. The kids seemed satisfied with their kids’ meals, too. However, the dish improvised for my vegan wife was boring and bland ***at best***. Most restaurants which take any pride in their cuisine generally at least attempt to step up to the challenge; not in this case. The service was as indifferent as the chef’s attempt at vegan improvisations. And ***slow***: when the server approached us for our main course order we asked for a few minutes to decide; she took 15 minutes at least. The place was nearly empty at the time. I wasn’t watching the clock but after being served it seemed at least 30 minutes had passed before we were asked if we needed our drinks refilled, etc. I almost never leave less than 20% gratuity. I left a tad less than 15%. Upon initially reading the menu, I had once hoped that Deadwood would become a favorite. I had hoped to try the wild game, in particular. Oh, well.

I stopped in for a quick some carry out, because quite honestly, I pass by Deadwood everyday and thought they might have some great burgers and they did! Ordered three to take home for my my boys and they like them a lot! Real pepper jack cheese, cooked just the way I ordered each one! The seasoned fries were delicious! The real treat, though, was for me! While I was waiting, I ordered an apple martini and it hit the spot! The bartender was also very nice and she helped turn a pretty sour work day into a pleasant experience! She also made a great martini! I will be pulling into the Deadwood again soon!

This is the only place I can think of ’round these parts where you can order venison, rabbit, duck etc. I got the wild thang appetizer and liked every part of it — especially the duck nuggets and summer sausage. I also got the shepherds pie(it’s not lamb though, it’s beef) and I’d recommend it. The free cookies at the end are a nice touch, all homemade and gooey…

First timers, we came in to check and see what it’s all about. Great martini menu, and the menu is just okay. I had the macaroni and cheese, it was very good. I’m sure very funny. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich, it was okay. Our waitress seemed to be very busy, it was hard to get a water, ranch for a buffalo wings, or a second drink for that matter. A good place to come, close to home, seems like I need patio atmosphere, but our visit was just so-so.

Went her on 3−8−15 arrived about 5:30pm, and they were already slammed and the wait was an hour. But I didn’t mind because my sole purpose was to have a prime rib dinner. First off the only reason it is 3 stars instead of 4 is staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and there isn’t a whole lot of places to wait when they are that busy, BUT I am NOT saying service was bad, but just the opposite!!! Considering ALL the people wanting to get in there… Ok, wings were very good crispy sauced well, and the braided pretzels!!! Hell yeah! With the cheese sauce(get extra!!) were excellent. The prime rib was great, got it just the way I asked, and a lot of places can’t even get that right, came with 2 sides but was potato and vegetable of the day, which I wish they would have just given an alternative of soup or salad which you can get, but at an extra charge… Because I didn’t really care for the veggies, French onion soup was good but they didn’t have the beer cheese that I really wanted to try, that is only on certain days I guess. Ribs were very good but were fall off the bone. They are a bit pricey but I will be back, I would recommend that you give them a try, and I it is closer to 3&½ to 4 stars but can’t give a half star, you may want to pick a different night other then Saturday…

We had planned on going to a different restaurant but ended up looking for an alternative and found Deadwood on the Unilocal app and it happens to be my favorite TV show so we had to give it a try. We were here about 6.30PM on a Saturday night, they said the wait would be 50 mins but it ended up being less. They seated us at a nice table near the window, I love the décor it feels like you’re in a log house and they have lamps with bones and a big moose head on the wall. This is probably not a good place to bring animal activist friends to or vegans. We started off with the Buffalo BBQ Balls, buffalo meatballs with a Jack-Daniels BBQ balls. These are awesome! I love the meat flavor and the bbq flavor was a perfect combination. As the main dish I went with the Filet Mignon and I also added the wild green salad. The salad was delicious, lot’s of fresh greens and pecan’s. The filet mignon was pretty big and it was cooked like I had requested(medium). It was the best filet mignon I’ve had in a long time. I asked for the redskins potatoes, they were OK but nothing special. All in all, it was a really good meal. I just wish I had had room to try one of their desserts. The ambience was really nice, the restrooms were clean, the crowd at the restaurant all seemed to be decent people and it wasn’t too loud. The service was excellent, we never had to wait to get our drinks refilled and she checked on us a number of times but not too often to be in the way either. The general manager also came by to make sure we were well taken care of, lately it has seemed like we don’t typically run into the general manager of any of the restaurants we’ve been going to. We’ll definitely be back here. SOON!

If you thought you’d have to travel to the U. P to get your fix of venison or wild boar, you’re wrong. Just under 30 miles from the Motor City, you’ll find yourself transported to a large wooden cabin where there’s a giant moose head to welcome you and a fire place to keep you warm. Deadwood Bar & Grill is a happening place with daily specials to keep things interesting. We went for the ‘Road Kill’ dish more out of curiosity than the appetizing name. We were served 3 large pieces of venison which had been cooked in bacon for that extra flavor. Each piece was cooked a little different(one was medium-rare, one was well done and one was a little too done) and had a slightly gamey taste but wasn’t bad. The dish also came with broiled quail(watch out for those bones) and wild boar sausage. The quail was the darkest of the meat and the boar sausage was the juiciest. You can get a side of rice or potatoes(or better yet, sweet potatoes) with the dish and corn with rye bread and gravy. The portion size is enough to feed two and even if you finish all your food, you won’t leave empty handed because everyone who gets this dish also receives a bumper sticker that says, ‘I eat my roadkill’. Whether you stick it on your car is up to you but hey…, you gotta give them some credit for the unique souvenir, right? As a side note for those who have dogs, your loyal pal can enjoy the various beef bones of Deadwood Bar & Grill. Just look at the bottom of the daily menu and it will say if they have bones in at the moment. It’s not an everyday thing but if they are in, just ask for a ‘doggie’ bag ;-)

This is another situation where if I had reviewed Deadwood a year ago, my rating would have been higher. The variety of food, in general, is good. I like coming here with family because there’s something to please everyone, even those with a little more exotic tongue like, with the roadkill platter. The two dishes that have been reliable are the prime rib and fish & chips(or mac). They have a bottomless portion of f&c which is a nice option for those who have a larger appetite. The sides are average, their baked potato is of the variety you would make at home, no salt rub or anything just about as plane jane as you can get. I remember their fish tacos being good too. As for starters, I have no beef with their clam chowder and venison chili. The combo platter of duck, buffalo balls, etc. is also good but a step above what you would get having the regular cheese stick, potato skin kind of combo platter. Beer selection is good and there’s a full bar. The bartenders work their butts off. Unfortunately we chose to avoid a long wait for a table and sat at the bar this past visit. They were so busy making drinks for the service window that our service suffered, good for business, but not ours. I do love the ambience/lodge feeling here. It’s especially nice during the Holidays. You definitely feel at home. We’ll be back but probably choose to sit at a table, and avoid the recent dishes that Unilocalers have given poor ratings to.

I am a huge fan of Deadwood. We came here for the first time in a while last Saturday with my wife and son. The menu and atmosphere make it a great spot for a hearty fall/winter meal(or «feast» as my son called it). I tried the Venison Brochette for the first time which was awesome. The meat was cooked perfectly and the bacon and gravy served with it were a perfect complement. The side of corn was very good and the homemade black bread was awesome. My wife had the herb chicken which she was very happy with. What I appreciate about Deadwood is that their kids meals aren’t an afterthought. My son’s sandwich was big and sliced up in triangles for kids. When you get a fruit cup with most restaurant’s kids menus the fruit is limp and is straight from the can. My son’s fruit cup was very fresh and tasty. Their attention to the kid’s menu is likely why Deadwood is so popular with families — you can get a great meal for both kids and adults. For dessert you can’t go wrong with the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.

Oh Deadwood. I’ve tried to love you, I really have. I have concluded that it’s not me, it’s you. We need a break for a bit, a small seperation. Maybe we can work things out in the future. For now you will get 2.5 stars, which is right in the middle between bad and awesome. Starting with the positive, my husband really likes the campfire mushrooms. This is a little crock filled with button mushrooms which are sprinkled with some parmesan cheese. We are also a fan of the dark bread in the bread basket and I personally enjoy the fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil salad app with balsamic(aka caprese salad). The main problem we seem to encounter is food temperature related. Every warm dish we have ever ordered has come out luke warm at best, and the sides are often cold to the touch. Mushroom ravioli, though it has good flavor, should not be cold at the(pasta) ends and have a congealed, gloppy cold sauce on top. Roast chicken should not be undercooked(raw) with cold vegetables. My husband has expressed to me several times it reminds him of cafeteria style cooking, where perhaps items are previously prepared and held too long before plating. Who knows, but either way it is disappointing. Everything else is just a matter of taste, which is hard to argue with. Some people like certain things and others don’t, but I’ll still give you a heads up on two small things — at least you’ll know what to expect when ordering. Personally, I find the Caesar dressing oddly sweet. The whitefish pâté is really more a spread than a pâté as it is a creamy saucy concoction with pieces of fish throughout, too creamy and not fishy enough(for me). Management handled the chicken incident with class, by the way. Their apologetic solution was unnecessarily generous, but appreciated. Lastly, everybody seems to love the cookies here — but beware, though good, these guys are salty and filling!
