A damn shame that this place replaced Bud’s Ale House. While I loved Bud’s this spot just doesn’t do it for me. Not the most exciting menu(granted, it’s pub food but still — where’s the creativity?), the beer selection is seriously lacking and what in the blue hell is up with the bocci?!? Meh.

I don’t expect much out of this place, other than a) having beer and mediocre food and b) being right out of the subway, but tonight? Oh man, this is just sad. I ordered boneless wings(I like their sauce, but they tend to burn the real wings) and they serve me, I kid you not, frozen chicken nuggets tossed in wing sauce. I get it if you’re out, guys, but for the love of God, TELL me that. Don’t do this. Don’t ever do this. I’m lazy, but I’m not THIS lazy.

I can’t beat around the bush with this place. Unless you’re indeed«twisted & smashed», do not come here. It’s singlehandedly the worst«sports» bar I’ve ever been to. I was forewarned from a few locals about how bad the service is but my friends and I decided to give it a shot anyway(mainly due to the line at Studio Square going around the corner, we resorted elsewhere). What a mistake. When we walked in, we realized there was no A/C. It’s 90 degrees outside. Not good. Anyway, we asked the lone bartender for a menu and he said the kitchen was shut down because they were getting inspected by the department of health. So, on a Saturday afternoon, during one of the biggest sporting events of the year, you have no food. Unreal. While the NYC health inspector was walking around creating a visual list of violations, my friends and I ordered two pitchers of Sam Adams and some waters. The bartender forgets one pitcher and the waters. This place is on a roll. Mind you, this was going on during the Champions League final. The place was jam packed, yet, everyone noticed the inspector walking around the bar with a disgusted look on his face. We tried to get a refill on our pitcher but when you have one bartender running the entire bar while the manager is getting the heads up on how many violations his«sports» bar currently has, it’s a little tough. We barely made it through the first half of the game before finishing our drinks and leaving. We ended up going around the corner to another bar that was properly run, had food, and took care of us. I’ll give it one star for having 5,000 TVs so you can watch any game clearly. However, that’s the only positive thing I can say from a place that calls itself a «sports» bar. If you’re looking for a great time or just want to catch the game with some friends, please visit one of Astoria’s other fine establishments and keep away from the health hazard known as Twist and Smash’d.

I came here since we wanted to watch the Mets game. I was a bit disappointed if I go to a sports bar I want to watch and hear the game however they had loud music playing. I would understand if it was night time but it was in the afternoon. All I had here were some wings and they were good but the service is horrible. The bartender was all over the place and my friend spilled his beer which was completely full and the bartender just handed us some napkins for us to clean it ourselves. I thought that was super rude since she was the one that works there and didn’t even offer to give him a new beer. Not sure if I will be coming back.

This place is fun for the fact they have bocce ball, cornhole, beerpong, and skee ball. Its a cool way to spend a rainy weekend afternoon. Just for this, I’d return. However the bartenders were hit or miss. One didnt know the specials and couldnt be bothered, another one was totally on top of her game and great to her fellow patrons. If we had her the whole time, Id have given this place 4 stars. We didnt get food here, we just got drinks and played the games. It was a fun time, more bars should look into adding these type of games.

I’d give this sportsbar about 3 ½ stars. The best thing about this place was the wings, and excellent waitress I had this evening. Since it was St. Pattys day they were running specials so I ordered a whiskey sour. Let me just say I had to send the drink back because it was completely sour. I could barely taste the alcohol and to cut the sourness I beleive the bartender just added a splash of soda. For entrée I ordered the short rib burger which was pretty good. I wasnt too impressed with the twisted fries which reminder me more of potato chips. For the price of the meal I would have rather gone somewhere else. The one thing I did enjoy was the irish car bomb. We also had an excellent waitress who was very informative and gave us a heads up not to waste our time on the mac and cheese. If you want to watch sports and order wings then pay this place a visit. The menu is way overpriced so if you want a great meal dont waste your time.

This place has so much potential unfortunately it is VERY understaffed. We walked in and were able to seat ourselves which was fine, but it took about a good 10 – 15 minutes to be greeted by anyone because it looks like our server was the only server on the floor along with 3 Bartenders that didn’t leave the bar area. After being greeted we were already ready to order, we ordered the appetizer nachos which came AFTER our entrees and when it arrived at our table it was DEAD!!!(if you work in the food industry you know what that means) but DEADANDBURNED! The burgers were good but I wasn’t a fan of the twisted potatoes, plus if they fry to long which ours were they don’t taste as good! I’m giving 2 stars, 1 for the burgers as I said before they were REALLY good and 1 for the popcorn they drop to your table with drinks.

I came on a Saturday night, and it wasn’t a big game night so the bars was pretty empty. A nice Waitress/Bartender made my favorite Drink Vodka Gimlet, and it was delicious. Unfortunately the bar food wasn’t up to part. I am a big fired pickle fan and I got some oil down pickles and may so little that I was super disappointed. My sample burgers were good but could have been a little better and their twisted fires were super salty. I mean maybe it was me but I like to eat and drink and have a good time. I didn’t have a bad time thought got to celebrate an important moment in a very chill atmosphere so it couldn’t have been that bad. I would come back on a big game night to see how the atmosphere!

We arrived here about midnight. We were trying to have a few more drinks before calling the night to end. When we arrived the bar was full, people were on the side playing some sort of game and we had no idea where we were supposed to go, if the kitchen was still open or if it was a private party. It was completely dead. We sat down for a bit unsure of what to do and no one gave us direction on how this place actually works. Are they going to come to us? do we pick up the food? I might give this place another try maybe with a few local friends who have been there before but honestly we didn’t even like the vibe here…

Ok so my initial review was new. Over the months I’ve given this shit hole a few shots & they have consistently sucked, no progress. I went one day after brunch in the late afternoon on a Sunday. I sat with my BF at a non packed bar& waited for a bartender to acknowledge us… waited, waited… after 17 minutes a woman took our drink order. Ordered standard drinks, all was fine. Got the check, wanted to pay said check…& there was nobody acknowledging us again. So I can’t get the attention of a bartender to order or pay? Perfect. Went with my gf the other day & had fried pickles & wings. How do you fail @ making fried pickles?!? Duno, ask the chef though! Jesus. I had a great server though, super personable. This place sucks though, avoid, do not get lured in by their rap music & convenient location.

I’m only giving this place a 2 star because the server was actually good. But overall i would rate my whole experience a 1 star. I walked in at about 1:30(football sunday) and there was no one to greet me. I then had to wait to get the bartenders attention to ask where i could sit. He said anywhere you can find a seat. So i asked these 2 guys if i could share their table since it was a 6 top and they were only 2 of them. They were glad to share their table. As i was sitting and waiting to get menus. I saw a server and asked if she had a minute could she tend to me. She then abruptly said i’ll get your server. When my server came she was great. Patient and attentive. The food however was horrible. Everything was pre made. Nothing was hot and everything was taste less. Definitely wouldnt go back. By the way they had audio at one point and then half way through had green bay on. Whats up with that?

If I’m being honest, this place doesn’t really stand a chance for being around long term unless they make some changes, fast. Came in because I was in the mood to try a new sports bar and walked by this place many times. Thought I’d give it a shot during happy hour. While the place is massively spacious, the lay out of the bar is not conducive for a decent service experience. The circular bar wasn’t crowded but service was greatly lagging. I wasn’t asked if I wanted another drink, having to flag down the bartender each time just to order another. When a drink was finally brought, the bartender didn’t bother to remove the empty glass, leaving them to just pile up. While they had two bartenders on staff, service was slow and inattentive. The condition of the bar wasn’t all that clean and several stools had large rips in the seats. Menu was unimpressive and lacked variety. Realize it’s a sports bar but a few healthier choices would be nice. Hmm, don’t know about this place…

Truth be told, I was very skeptic to try this place. The reviews are not inspiring but my friend insisted and after two failed attempts to change his mind, I met him there at 1:15 on a Sunday to catch the games. 15 minutes into kickoff, seating was a bit limited even at this big bar but I’ll take the blame for that. They kick you off with a basket of popcorn and water, nice. We started off the day with a pitcher of Carlsberg for $ 18 which I feel is a pretty reasonable price. Unfortunately, the second pitcher had to change because they ran out of it, BOO. Halfway through the 1pm games, we decided to get some wings. We tried four different flavors: spicy buffalo, sriracha, sweet thai chili and lemon pepper. Let me tell you before I go on, I went to college in Buffalo so I’ve become somewhat of a Buffalo wing snob. It’s really hard to find a good spot in all of NYC, let alone my own neighborhood. But I was pleasantly surprised with TnS’ offerings. They had more drumsticks than wings which I usually would not be too happy with but they didn’t overfry the wings and the saucing made up for it. Lemon Pepper — A bit too salty for my taste. With slightly less seasoning, it could be a winner. Spicy Buffalo — Not amazing by any means but a solid classic Buffalo wing flavor done right. Sriracha — On the saucier side and SPICY but pretty good. Sweet Thai Chili — Definitely my favorite. Not really spicy in any way and I’m usually not a big sweet wings fan but this was took the cake. Overall, I’d say this is one of the better wing spots in Astoria(to my surprise). I will return, although it’s likely because it’s a favorite of my buddy’s. Other qualms — not enough local fans here. I was there for the Jets/Eagles game and there was a bunch of Philly heads, Cleveland fans, and other city fans which confused me. I guess going to a place like this is less threatening than going to a local pub with local, diehard fans. If there was an option for half stars, this place would get a sold 3.5 but there isn’t and it’s definitely deserving of a rating higher than 3 but def lower than 4.

If I could give a 0 star review I would. This is the second time I’ve been here and the bartender was rude. Barely paid any attention to my boyfriend and I, and we asked for waters. I want to preface this review with: it was a Sunday afternoon. There was about 10 patrons in the entire restaurant. We ordered nachos, 6 piece boneless wings and a Caesar salad. 35 minutes later I had to ask the bartender if it was coming out. Unless they are killing the chickens themselves and picking the vegetables from their organic garden there is no way our order should take more than 15 minutes. I’m assuming the manager was there, he seemed helpful– he even gave us our waters when the bartender forgot about us. My boyfriend finally said enough and left after 40 minutes. If the bartender smiled or at least pretended like we existed we probably would have stayed. But she didnt. So we left. Walked to Applebee’s and had drinks and essentially the same meal within 10 minutes.

Boom boom. Let’s keep this short and sweet. If you’re lucky enough to get Clayborn as you’re waiter, your experience just improved 100%. Used a Groupon and a special 20% additional off which ended up being $ 44 for 4 customizable burgers(single/double patty w/2 toppings, and a twisted potato side) and two pitchers of beer or sangria. Just cuz one my guys said he heard the wings were good, we ordered twelve sweet honey BBQ to split. Tender, savory, juicy and none of that grade D garbage wings that some places give. Good quality, not steroid sized, but good nonetheless. On the main-o’s. Not sure about my 3 peers but my double with L/T and chipotle mayo(cheese is complimentary) was probably top 10 in my burger experiences. Thick, juicy, and cooked to med rare perfection. It was SOOOO good. Story coulda ended there but the twisted potato basically comes along and adds a couple of killer finishing moves. Imagine: whole potato, cut in spiral fashion, and fried to crispy part-chip, part-fry heaven. Add a lil bit of ketchup and mayo and you might as well never eat anything else. My boys loved their burgers. All cooked as asked. Nuff said. Ordered a pitcher of sangria. Sweet, tart, icy cold refreshment in alcoholic bliss. Then followed that up with a pitcher of purple haze beer. We ordered hard cider but they didn’t have it. So Clayborn brings out a few samples of a pear beer. Then another sample of Purple Haze to try. Like seriously, this guy is the most considerate waiter I’ve ever met. After letting us try both, he gets us the purple haze which was awesome. Towards the end, Clayborn brings by a second tub of popcorn to share and even asks if any of us are having a bday. We tell him our friend is having one next week(truth) and he’s like«good enough.» Ten minutes later, he comes out singing, with shots, and an ice cream sundae. Come on, Clay! All and all, my only regret is not having taken pics. Thought I’d take a break for the night. Who knew this would be a rip and roar awesome dining experience. All sorts of sports on a million TVs. Folks playing Bacce ball in the corner. And on the way out, we get some time on the bball shootout station. Great times made greater cuz of both Clayborn and a Groupon. But ultimately, good food and good service = good chance I’ll come again. Sorry this wasn’t so short haha
