SERVICE gets an A+ the staff especially our waitress SAMANTHA was very efficient, courteous, & accommodating & patient enough to answer our questions & patient with our taking some time to order. I won’t order the sampler plate again —(it cost $ 18 for a choice of 4 appetizers, which came out in very minute amount), the chips of the Tex Mex nachos tasted old but the chicken wings, calamari & fried mozzarella sticks were good), they generously gave our guys beer samples, the food was good especially the baby back ribs, and the chicken wings, chili soup was great, chicken parmesan was gigantic but tasted so, so & the pasta that we ordered with it was overcooked. Music was good albeit very loud but it was expected I guess, bathroom was clean. I’d definitely come back here again. BTW, the bouncer checks everybody’s ID and I think that’s good. PLUS they have different daily specials which is enticing to customers &LOTS of TV featuring different sports channels.

Can’t miss a sports game here, they have a plethora of TV’s & did i mention their Bud/budlight pitchers are under $ 7. The food is okay, i’d go for the wings even though i still think they’re overpriced. Can’t wait for Football Season, i definitely know where i’m going to catch the games in my neighborhood now.

Greetings, This is a really cool sports bar. I have been here a few times. They have a lot of TVs for the games and they have $ 2 beers every day and cheap pitchers. The food is pretty good for being bar food. My only complaint is that they are slow, whether your waiting on a table or waiting for your check. All in all this is a good spot to catch a game with friends. Create Memories! Scott

The end is near my friends. I can’t see Bud’s Ale House survive the remainder of the year 2013. I was a loyal customer. I was in love with their $ 2 Bud’s or Bud Lite’s «all day everyday». How could you not. Always a special. Always a deal. Added bonus, food and service was not bad, but on a recent visit, NOMORE $ 2 Dollar Bud’s. Now $ 3 and with bad bar service. Let me state that I enjoy my craft beers. I attend beer tastings. My frig is stock with IPA beers. I love going to Breweries and I have tried 250 plus beers in the last 2 years. Thank you Unilocal for tickets to Beer Expo’s and Festivals. With this said, I enjoy just chilling for a couple of hours on a lazy Tuesday afternoon drinking cheap beer and watching whatever sport is on the TV at Bud’s. I have put up with bad service. I have put up with you adding a tip to my credit card. I have put up with short changing me on my boneless chicken wings. But, I will not put up with increasing your famous tag of «$ 2 Bud’s All Day Every Day». Seriously, it is not the end of the world raising beer prices but, with service gone bad and $ 3 Bud’s it is just not worth the price or the aggravation. This location is the last of the«empire» with the other locations closed. There is a revolving door with staff. Always new staff every time I stop by. Main reason for bad service. On Saturday Nights Bud’d turn’s into«Disco Bud’s». Saturday Night Fever Astoria style. OMG… After all this, will I come back; YES. It is tough to beat their ace in the hole; 50 plus TV’s all in HD. Second, if Artie the Bartender is working, stop by. He is a major asset. I do wish you well, but service at the bar has to rise to the occasion.

Good music, friendly staff, lots of beer selection, great addition to my ale house spots. I really enjoyed their wings. I got the breaded, bone in wings with bbq sauce, I picked the sauce with bbq but with a kick of spice. I forgot exactly the name of it, but it was awesome. For the entrée, got the penne a la vodka with chicken. It was decent, but what really topped the experience for me was the fried oreos with vanilla ice cream. Needless to say, I had a great experience in Bud’s Ale House. I’m from Brooklyn, but it’s definitely worth the trip. The staff was great! Came on Sunday noon. Also, so many televisions in here. Literally, every area you look there’s a tv. I stopped counting at 25. Great place to watch the game or simply to enjoy some good food and booze.

One of my favorite spots in Astoria, I first came here to watch a regular season Knicks game with a couple of friends and this place was live was real packed on a Friday. We have ordered boneless chicken wings as a appertizer my friends ordered the Italian dog with fries and I ordered the chili dog and fries the food was about average noting crazy about it but was fresh but I felt the food needed more taste. Me and my friends went crazy on pitchers of Budweiser and shots of cotton candy which were really good. This place is good to go with a group of friends to have a few beers and watch a game or a mma fight… the place has a great atmosphere love it here.

I’ve been here now… say… 3 times. Each time I’ve had the same reaction. A-OK. Not being a beer drinker(or any alcohol at all), I’m not a fair judge of a restaurant that carries dozens upon dozens of beer on tap. And not being a big sports fan, I’m not as excited about the dozens upon dozens of flat-screen TVs hanging on the walls. The service is friendly but a little clunky. On off-hours, I get the impression that they are a little understaffed. As far as the food goes, it’s ok bar food. Definitely nothing to write home about but, let’s say, your just interested in some A/C and a game, I’m sure this place is fantastic. I’ve tried a few things over my visits and the best things so far have been the Bud’s Cheesesteak and the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich that oddly had no bleu cheese or ranch dressings but did have cheddar cheese. The sweet potato fries were a major disappointment — way too much sugary seasoning. There’s always some sort of special and there’s % off your next lunch if you keep your receipt. And despite the bar atmosphere, it’s pretty baby/children friendly. So although it might not be the place for me, I can see a lot of people having fun while catching a game.

We came here to watch the Giant’s game. Walking in… I could have very well walked into an Applebee’s. They were very accommodating in changing the game on the screen in front of us to the one we wanted to see. The food was okay. We had a couple chili dogs and fries. They’d gotten the fry order wrong, but fixed it quickly. The chili was a little sparse, but I think maybe NY chili dogs are different than what I’m used to at home. I suppose this review isn’t because the place was BAD. It’s average food & service was good, but yay for the number of tv’s! :D

First time this bar opened up in my neighborhood I decided to check it out. So far I’ve had a great experience every time. They have a large beer selection, maybe 40 beers on tap, they have about 60 HDTVs mounted on the walls, and have a $ 5 margarita special everyday. It does get loud and crowded on game nights. So if you are into sports this is the best time to go. But if you are like me, the middle of the week or on days where there is no major sporting event is the ideal time to go. We went Saturday afternoon during their HAPPYHOUR(Monday to Saturday 3 – 7 and 10-close) where we enjoyed $ 4 Sam Adam drafts, $ 5 margaritas, the $ 11 Irish Nachos with chicken, and a very delicious chocolate cake for $ 7 for desert. Whenever going to have their BBQ pulled pork sandwich, I recommend getting the chips instead of the fries. You won’t be disappointed.

New establishment with a lot of potential! 5 stars for great service, great food, and great selection of draught beers. Tip: If in the mood for a bargain, their draft BudLight and Budweiser are 2 $, all day, everyday! which is what made me become a regular. :) Dinner specials are available as well. They offer events like trivia night and live music. The fact that the front door is RIGHT in front of the subway entrance doesn’t hurt!(R and M line). Will definitely be returning as long as I live in Astoria!

The food menu is pretty extensive as is their beer selection. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was pretty good traffic. I did notice that they had Unilocal drink specials, but Bud? Really? Anyway, TONS of TV screens for you to watch anything from every basketball game EVER alongside The Taste featuring Anthony Bourdain. Yeah, it was one of those afternoons.

I go to Life & Fitness Gym in Astoria often so when I get off work, I usually get off at the Steinway stop on the R. When I do, I always pop up on the side of the street that has Bud’s Ale House, and from the outside, it looked pretty clean so I had always been meaning to go. That reason came along when my roommates, friends, and coworkers wanted to go out for some trivia. We had originally planned on going to Gleason’s, but their trivia was on hold so we decided to come here. Their trivia starts at 8PM on Wednesday nights and is hosted by Tryst Trivia. I arrived around 6:30PM and sat at the bar because I was waiting for a friend who I was going to grab dinner with before the trivia began. I ordered a Whisky Sour and I don’t know what it was(maybe because I downed it so fast to beat the 7PM end of the happy hour) but I got pretty buzzed after that first drink. My friend arrived a little past 7 and we were seated for dinner. That was a little complicated because even though the place was empty, the hostess was reluctant to give me a table for 6 because we wanted 4 more people to join us at a table for the trivia. She finally agreed after I kind of lied and told her that they would be here in 30 minutes… which they did not do… I ordered the Fish and Chips and my friend ordered the Western Burger. I was not too hungry, so even though the menu said«generous» portions, I didn’t believe it. But when my order came, the Fish and Chips were HUGE! There were four pretty large pieces and plenty of fries. The only thing was, the first time they brought it, the fish was not fried all the way through so the batter was still wet. I told our server and he apologized and got it fixed, so that really wasn’t a problem for me. The guy running trivia came by to our table and asked if we were going to be playing, to which we responded eagerly. He was very friendly and explained some of the rules and such to us because it was the first time we were playing here(or Tryst format in general). My 4 other friends came and we started trivia! I’m trying to decide whether I want to be honest here or not… eh, what the heck, I need to be honest; I liked playing here because Trivia felt low key and wasn’t super competitive. There weren’t any crazy nerdy teams that destroyed the competition, so I definitely want to come back to play again. Our team, made up of 6 recent college graduates, took third place(go «Fire & Blood, House Targaryen!»). Yeah, we picked a Game of Thrones team name… The only thing was the host came and talked to our table about a 7th person who was sitting with us and told us that because money was at stake, it would be unfair for an extra person to be sitting there in case we cheated. He told us politely, so I won’t mark that against him, but it still sucked, and our friend left to hang out at a different bar to wait till we finished :(So if you didn’t catch that, trivia teams can only be up to SIX people max. Also, happy hour at Bud’s Ale House still runs all night while you are playing trivia. Had I known, I would have gone for the $ 5 appetizers and not downed my first Whisky Sour so quickly… The prizes are $ 50, $ 25, and a pitcher of beer for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively. Not super happy about winning only a pitcher of beer, but hey, better than nothing! I really recommend coming by and giving this place a chance! I knocked off one star because of the fish and chips mishap, the slight irritability of the hostess, and my friend getting kicked off the table.

Definitely needed another sports bar in the area and this was the perfect spot(way closer to the train than Canz). Almost always a spot to sit at the bar, tv’s everywhere, and a very good selection of food — thought it might be limited, it’s not. The beer list is nice, with plenty of drafts to choose from. The bartender can take a bit, but it’s standard in crowded places. A nice place to sit to watch the game and a wonderful location.

I happen to be in the area & needed to grab a semi quick bite to eat before a movie, saw this place, never been so figured why not. We walked in & were seated right away, the place itself is pretty big this is a sports fan heaven with so many tv’s around its insane not to catch whatever game you are into. We ordered some Stella, sooo good it was freezing cold the way beer should be served. For appetizers we decided on the Mac & Cheese balls, simply amazing great taste nice & crispy. Main meal I went with the Sweet Italian«hot dog» which is of course not a hot dog it’s Italian sausage, It was really good nice taste comes w chips & a pickle, good pickle had a nice garlic taste to it, the chips were ok. My company had an order of the Cannon ball BBQ Wings, yumm really great taste. The place itself is nice, good atmosphere, our waiter was really nice & the prices for the most part seem to be pretty decent. I definitely enjoyed my meal everything was pretty tasty, I will for sure make it a point to come back.

This place screams bar at the neighborhood, what with the giant beer tap hand crank above its awnings. Sadly I lacked the bodily capacity to imbibe one of its many draft brews(80 is claimed), but I did hang out for a spell. From the outside, it does not quite look like a pub, not with its transparent walls and giant TVs everywhere. The futuristic and slightly dystopian vision of dozens of symmetrically arranged large flat screens all showing the same thing(a football game) was kind of entrancing. My accomplice, who is concerned about sustainability, opined that one does not need so many TV sets sucking up energy just to show a game. It’s definitely a local bro bar leveraging the beer bar aesthetic, but it might be worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood. The crowd appeared to be a mix of Queens natives and transplants, skewing younger as you would expect. Tons of bros.

I’ve been here a few times now(disregard the amount of times Unilocal says I’ve been here, wasn’t a super faithful check-in person when like the first 2 or 3 times I came here, lol) and each time has been pretty subpar. I really WANT to like this place more than I do — I mean it’s got everything you need to be successful, good beer/cocktail/well drink/sangria specials, a kickass menu full of delicious foods at sorta reasonable prices, lots of offerings meant to be shared and thus good for groups of hungry booze-lovers, a kids menu for when the kiddies are in tow and daily specials for lunch and dinner/late-night noms. Problems for me here range from portion sizes(not that big), slow waiter/waitress service(I know the last two I dealt with WERE trying their best, but excuses like«there are sooooooo many patrons!» don’t really hold up either time since the place was NOT that crowded both times) and sometimes the beers I’ve ordered have been kinda warm(so they’re either being poured and sitting out for a bit before getting over to me or their kegs system isn’t working as it should be). Beer menu here is quite good with most of my favorites listed here, good selection of craft and seasonal brews listed by beer type(lager, porter, wheat, ale, cider, etc). I’ve even had beers here I’ve never seen or heard of and trust me, I’m a beer snob: P. The pluses are that their boneless chicken wings(again, small portions — dives and beer gardens are doing a better job here guys!) ARE really tasty. My personal favorite are their«ninja» flavored ones — it’s a soy/garlic type sauce, reminds me very much of Korean BBQ chicken and this is most definitely a huge PLUS! I haven’t have any of their hot dogs yet, but their menu looks pretty interesting and I most certainly want to. Fries here are pretty enjoyable, they’re shoestring fries, but seasoned and fried nicely — not the best but not the worst. Was here last for a $ 1 taco night special. I ordered 2 chicken and 2 steak one and received 3 chicken and 1 steak o_O. They were on hard shells because they didn’t have(or offer… I don’t remember exactly) soft shell ones(which I prefer). Thank goodness I wasn’t charged for the extra taco because I didn’t order it, I was missing a steak one and they were legit the WORSTTACOS I’VEEVERHADINMYLIFE. I photographed them closely and far away JUST so Unilocal could see how pathetic and disappointing they were. Meat(the lousy amount they used) tasted oooookay at best, when my friend and I BENT the hard taco shells they WOULDNOT break… this means they were stale kids… Hard shell taco thingies should NOT be flexible and bendy — then again I’m Latina and I’ve had tacos in Cali and Roosevelt, Queens so I guess I’m spoiled, but I can’t even use the«you get what you pay for» line here because up from my apartment in Jackson Heights lives the most magical Mexican food spot with $ 1 tacos that I rank as being some of the best I’ve ever consumer. In the beginning of my relationship with Bud’s Ale House I would have rated them a solid 4 stars, but now they’re a solid 3 and I’m maybe 1 or 2 more crappy visits away from making it a 2 star review… They need to work some kinks out here — what keeps me coming back is that I like their space(kinda beer garden-y), they don’t card if I want to bring my sis who’s a college student(because they’re sorta more restaurant than bar in the earlier hours, not because they’re shady), they sell other foods that aren’t awful and because $ 6.99 pitchers of Bud and Bud Light every day at any time is seriously a STEAL. I don’t even love the stuff, but at that price point I can’t possibly complain, lol.

I generally don’t pick up groupons that are more than 5 miles away from me… because I’m lazy and I like to drink beer, so that limits my destinations to anything within a cab ride or close to mass transit HOWEVER my little strudel has started working at Bud’s AND his birthday just passed, so I wanted to go hang out with him for a little bit. This place is 100% perfect to watch any kind of sports game ever. Ever. Minus MMA, because apparently they don’t offer MMA shows there any more due to people trying to kill each other(awesome). There are long tables all around the bar, and the perimeter is covered in flat screens broadcasting different shows. They have a great selection of beer, and a pretty extensive menu of bar food; plus some non-traditional bar food(steamed clams, crabs, etc.). The food was pretty good — the portions were huge; I liked the selection of different kinds of wings and burger combinations. The groupon we had was a great deal — 2 drafts, 2 burgers(with topping and cheese and fries) and nachos for 20 $. I did think that the beer was a little expensive, but it is the only draft house around the area so I guess that makes sense. Unfortunately, it was pretty empty for a Saturday night, so hopefully the groupon gets more interest in it. If this spot was in Long Beach(it’d look weird next to Whales Tale) but I’d be here a lot.

Night and day. That’s the difference between my first trip here and my second. Quite literally. The first time I came to Bud’s Ale House it was day, the second it was night! Seriously though, after writing a pretty scathing review on my first experience here, I was contacted by the manager, apologized to, and offered a nice giftcard to come back and give them a second chance. I accepted the offer, and am definitely happy I did. First off, the place was PACKED due to Sunday night football yet we still got a table right away. Our server Paul was incredible. Very friendly, fast, and attentive. This time around our beer selections were available and brought out immediately. I still love their massive selection of brews. We ordered house salads to start, a cheeseburger with fries, and a shrimp and chorizo quesadilla. The salads were crisp and flavorful, and my wife said the quesadilla was incredible. My burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were great, but there was something about the flavor I just didn’t care for. I’m not saying there was anything wrong with it, it’s just not my favorite burger in the neighborhood. All in all a much better experience than my first trip. I’m a little apprehensive still based on other recent reviews that sort of echo the same problems I had originally run into, but I will not longer write Bud’s off. Hopefully in time they will get into a good grove and be a great place to catch a game!

Bud’s Ale House is a modern, clean, and tasty sports bar, with plenty of room and more tv screens than should be covered under a normal insurance policy. I was really here for the food, but came Sunday at 1:30 pm when the Jet’s game was on. It was packed full of sports fans and three different games were on at once. That said, the service was good about keeping glasses full, communicating the drink specials, and stopping by every so often. I also noticed some people stayed here for over four hours, and the service didn’t seem to care. We ordered: chipotle honey breaded wings california burger spinach salad The food was a total win for us. The wings were crispy, sweet, spicy, and savory. The portion was good(and easily customizable). They almost give you too many choices for the wings and how you want to have them. The California burger was juicy, a good portion size, and exactly as described. The spinach salad was surprisingly good.(And you should know I tend to hate salads.) The spinach was fresh, the toppings(egg, bacon, onion, mushrooms) all very tasty and the dressing simple and effective. The portion was pretty huge — its a meal folks! Wipmy side salad this was not. The prices were okay for what we got — drinks are more affordable than the food.

Bud’s Ale House took forever to open, and now I understand why. For an endeavor of this magnitude to set up shop in the most bustling part of Astoria, your business better be prepared. After months of leaving my nose print on their windows, gazing at the multitude of televisions, and the variety of tap beers that were dormant, I was thrilled to notice from the Unilocal homepage that reviews were trickling in. Enough of a reason for me to rejoice and plan my next foodie excursion there. Literally only open for a few days, I was quite impressed with everything I love about an after work hang out. It has a sports bar vibe, with a focus on exceptional service. Highlights: 1. Pleasantly greeted by the hostess. 2. Opting to sit at the bar proved to be a great gauge for the general service offered here. 3. The bartender, Emilio, was enthusiastic to learn our names, share the specials, and give the great service that will make this place a once a week destination. 4. They have Budweiser draft beer along with a multitude other artisanal selections, and interestingly, wine on tap too. It was a generous glass of Pinot Grigio that complimented my boo’s 22 ouncer. The Menu: It was our first visit, so the menu seemed quite extensive to choose how the place would be evaluated. We ordered the chili, which was perfectly spiced. He ordered the Chi Dog and commented, «Now I know why they call it a meal». And I ordered«Naked» Cajun Wings, which were perfectly greasy and crisp. Next week: The burgers!
