The 5 stars is simply for their waitress Chelsea. So I’ve been to Raven’s a few times for day and night events. It’s very chill during the day, has a nice open atmosphere and close to Steinway so my friends and I tend to end up here quite often. Night time it is more club like. There’s a DJ, can get packed, but there’s no real dance floor but the hallway type area. Again, it’s not bad, it’s not great. Yesterday I went for brunch for the first time. They have bottomless for $ 15 with the purchase of an entrée. First, can you PLEASE include more food options? Literally everything is eggs + something. They have a french toast type sandwich which I got, and it was good! But they didn’t have syrup(which was weird). Their bottomless drinks include mimosas, bloody mary’s, and a peach spritzer or something. Wasn’t a fan of any of the drinks, settled on the peach drink because it tasted the best. Now Chelsea. Oh my god. This woman is the absolute sweetest and funniest. She was so apologetic for lack of syrup(girl it is not your fault lol), and went out of her way to make sure everything was great with our meal and was always ready to bring us drinks and help us out. Seriously, I’ll come back for brunch just for her. More waitresses and servers should be like her. What an absolutely delightful human being.

Be careful ladies. The little dick bouncer will not protect you from his little dick friend. I was at Cronins when this very drunk girl was walked out for the third time. I left Cronins shortly after to find the same girl sitting by the bank almost passed out. I offered to pay for her cab ride when a little dick saw his opportunity. I tried to stop it and they walked by boars head and I told the bouncer to keep an eye on the little dick and he defended the little dick saying this was his area and I didn’t know what I was talking about. I guess little dicks need to stick together. If you want to be taken advantage of you now know where to go. I hope the owner is proud of the little dick bouncer. I will spread the word, so should you. It’s time for a change.

I like it for what it is, a nice casual bar in Astoria. Definitely one of the better local bars. Restaurant — They have a surprisingly good brunch and menu in general. Got the black bean burger and it was great. Will definitely get it again next time I go. Isn’t usually too, too crowded so its a great option. There’s nice tables outside as well as high tables right by the often-open french doors in the front. Great for summer. Bar — There is a bar both upstairs and down, on less busy nights the upstairs isn’t too full. There’s trivia upstairs that is always fun. High tables all around, definitely a more ‘sit with your friends vibe,’ whereas the downstairs is a little more conducive to meeting people. Although there’s more space upstairs, there isn’t really dancing ever(like Gleason’s). Service is as expected but the wait at the bar can be a bit long upstairs if it’s super busy.

This review is split between the dinner portion(lower level of the place) and the bar/trivia portion(upstairs). Dinner: My party of six was seated immediately in the back(plenty of space). They have happy hour drink specials so be sure to check in with your server for details. I ordered two well drinks($ 5/ea) and I had the Cordon Bleu Sandwich. The sandwich was the highlight of the meal, it was paired perfectly with the sourdough bread. Bar/Trivia: After paying the bill for dinner downstairs, my group wandered upstairs for some drinks and some free trivia. They have different drink specials upstairs so definitely check with your server. The trivia was pretty fun. It consisted of 50 total questions, 10 questions per subject and the top few teams will be awarded prizes. If only they had an award for the last place team(we tried but failed). All in all it was a good experience: good food and drinks at a decent price!

Third time here and every time has been an awkward experience. First time we came for brunch and we weren’t allowed to switch to drinks. Food was good though, but their brunch rule was no changing drinks. Second time, we came late night… bouncer had no control., fight broke out and he basically let them fight it outside the bar. Third time the same bouncer with the yellow tie and hat… yelled the females for using the bathroom together. It seems like he has zero idea how to manage intoxicated people.

Homely and dimly lit; music was contemporary. Drinks were decent and the server was brusque but efficient. Overall, I liked the environment because I was able to communicate with my company at least. Would recommend for a casual night out.

My baby shower was held here and it was great! We had buffet lunch — chicken parm, meaty lasagna, mixed veggies, french fries, unlimited soda, coffee and tea plus the bar was open too. It was held on the second floor were my friends decorated the place and it was amazing! Everyone enjoyed! Would go back here definitely!

This place has the poison you’re looking for. Wether it be a casual drink by yourself, with a couple of friends, or picking up on a small group of young Cougars, this place is a definite stop on the Steinway bar crawl. The service is great and the bartenders are dope. If you have a chance to have Paul, the blue eyes Irishman, as your bartender… well you’re in for a treat. I’m not a New York native but this guy makes you feel like you’ve known him forever. By far, the best bartender New York has to offer. Second to the alcohol itself. It may sound bromancey, but wait til you encounter the guy and tell me what you think. Lol Back to the bartenders, They are always scanning to see who needs a drink and even manage to engage in some weird dialogue on crowded nights without missing a step. The crowd is very mixed and fun which sometimes provides for some good entertainment when different personalities clash, but the night will always continue. The upstairs area is like walking out of a time machine back to college. They have a bar, some beer pong, drunk conversations about life, and a bunch of patrons willing to give you that hard high five as if you’ve won some type of competition. I’ve never had the food, and didn’t even know they served food until I read these reviews. I’d rather drink my calories. Ravens head never disappoints.

We decided to have our Baby Sprinkle at Raven’s Head and it did not disappoint. The manager April was very helpful from the start to end and answered all our silly questions and concerns. Helped us picked a great menu and made our lil event a big success. The manager on duty Dewey and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We will be going back for future events. Thank you!!!

Came here with a big group for trivia and we had a lot of fun, although the trivia was not easy! Granted I don’t consider myself a big trivia person but this was very competitive and tough. Bartenders were pretty good bringing drinks quick, ended up heading downstairs after and having a few more! Will be back!

Ravens head is a pretty color bar. They have two floors, the top I have actually rented out for a surprise party for my father two years ago and everything went well besides the fact that the food amount suggestion was way off. We told them how many people we had, and they suggested a certain amount of platters– boy were they off. We scurried to order more as half of our guests were waiting for food. The upstairs when not rented out is used by regular patrons. Some nights they have beer pong going on which is awesome. The last time we came, we tried to play and he place was packed to the brim upstairs. Downstairs was a little better, we stayed for two rounds but left because the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other and wanted to talk. Not my first choice for bars in Astoria, but definitely not my last.

Came here with my partner for Sunday brunch. Got baked eggs which was delicious and came with a mimosa or bloody Mary. There’s other brunch drink deals too. 15 $ gets you unlimited brunch drinks for 2 hours which isn’t bad. The service was great and it was a really chill vibe

I have already been to the Raven’s Head three times, all under different pretenses. The first time was for a snack on a Friday night. We were seated in the front and got some nibbles. Nothing to complain about. I did not realize until after my credit card was charged that they need a tip written down BEFORE the card is scanned, which struck me as odd. The second time was with a couple of visiting friends for food after band rehearsal, and I got the lunch special burger. The burger was good, and everyone enjoyed their food, but the service was really slow. We were seated in the back, which was entirely empty. It was odd, but we didn’t complain since it meant we had the whole place to ourselves. This past Tuesday I came again with my girlfriend for trivia night. Super fun. The pacing is just right, and it’s free! Difficult questions from a wide variety of topics held together with a loose thread that makes it more fun. I’ll be checking out Raven’s Head some more soon, I’m sure.

Spontaneously returned here two nights ago after a hiatus of well over a year. I used to be an avid regular before going MIA. Drinks, happy hour, brunch, game day, Friday or Saturday night dancing, super bowl… you name it, I’ve done it here! Stumbled in after an event upon a friend’s suggestion who’s a fellow Astorian. Was thrilled to see the Giants playing(Go Big Blue!) as we settled in at the bar. Owen, our friendly Irishman(Dublin to be exact) bartender, was there to greet us as soon as we sat down. Ordered the seasonal Ommegang Harvest Ale followed by some good ‘ol fashion Bulleit bourbon rye whiskey. There was a slight hiccup, albeit it was an accident. As we sat at the bar, one of the servers approached us from behind carrying a tray with a single bottle of beer which presumably went tumbling down all over my friend’s back and her jacket and sweater on the chair(apparently, she was going to offer us a free round of coors light anyway)! The server quickly tried her best to recover and apologized to my friend. Fortunately, my friend was a good sport about it! I suggested at the very least, that we should get a round on the house since we don’t drink hogwash anyway, lol. She did bring us 3 – 4 free raffle tickets… for what I did not know but found out soon enough! Much to my surprise, when they read out the first number, no winner, then… they read out the second number, I won! Grand prize, an autographed football by Shane Vereen, #34! Their kitchen closes at midnight on a Monday and I ordered the shepherd’s pie but quickly found out from Owen that the kitchen had already closed with five minutes to spare :(Next time I suppose. In the past, I’ve tried their wings, guac, veggie burger, the baked eggs for brunch, buffalo chicken wrap… to be honest, nothing stellar I can say about any of it. Nothing ever seems to stand out, okay at best. Hopefully, that’s changed since I have eaten off of their menu in over a year. Service at the bar has always been attentive and friendly. «Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. Tis some visitor,» I muttered, «tapping at my chamber door – Only this, and nothing more.» ― Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven

So, I’ve been to this spot a few times. I normally don’t hang here because I’m not crazy about the crowd on weekends. Not my style. But they do have a DJ on weekends and it’s usually quite crowded. I came here this past week for a grammar school reunion party. This was the first time I’ve seen the upstairs of the bar. They rent it out for private events and whatnot– so as a group we rented it out. It’s a very big area I gotta say! I was impressed. They have their own bar and bathroom up there too so you don’t have to keep walking up and down stairs for those. I ended up ordering the Chicken Torta sandwich with cheese fries and it was really good! That was the first time I ordered something here other than nachos lol We all had a great time at the reunion. It was a small group — about 20 of us. I always give credit where credit is due and we had the best bartender! If anyone at Ravenshead is reading this–«Amira» was awesome!(Not sure of the spelling) She took pictures of us when we asked, our drinks weren’t weak, the food was served quickly and I never once had to wait for a drink! Very attentive! She handled all of us totally by herself too with a constant smile on her face! Fantastic service! :-) So thanks to her for making our night that much more enjoyable. I do recommend the place definitely for private events. And as I said earlier– it’s more of a younger crowd and not really my style for the basic hanging out downstairs. I’m old now LoL not in my twenties anymore. But if you’re 21 – 30 years old– this spot is perfect for you and your friends– especially on weekends.

Who knew I would have so much fun at this bar. This no frills unpretentious bar was an awesome place to end the night. I came to this bar with a bunch of friends looking for good music. And we definitely found it. The dj was spinning those great hits. The hip hop and the reggaeton made us dance and jam to the beats. The bartenders were friendly and service was quick. We had a blast dancing. Just take note, this place does get packed after 230am. I had a great time. So check it out.

Came here around midnight Decent drinks, nothing fancy pretty basic Music started out GREAT, huge 90’s mix, dance mix, progressing to a more modern hip hop/R&B with mixes of things in between. The only problem was sometimes they would cut out the best parts. 2am it got really crowded, sausagefest and not in a good way Friendly clientele, a little umm aggressive I guess. I was outside when someone accidently bumped into 2 guys. A little conversation was held after and one turned away and bam, 2 guys knocked him out from the back… So yea, I would say it was a good night but the clientele… ehhhh

Ever wonder what it would be like if Charlie Day were your trivia quizmaster? Find out at Raven’s Head, which features his celebrity soundalike! Compared to other Queens trivia establishments, Raven’s Head currently ranks second(coming behind only Open Door in LIC) for the actual bar experience, but first among NYC Trivia League locations in the borough. Grading trivia establishments on a curve, those factors combined gives it five stars. My friends and I went to the bar as part of our Trivia«World Tour» throughout NYC. We’re big fans of the trivia provider(NYC Trivia League), and this particular establishment has Danny Friendly — one of the League’s best(ranking up there with Ryan West) quizmasters. He asks the questions efficiently(the five rounds ran from 8:15 — 9:45pm), checks answers quickly, and has the enthusiasm and sense of humor you’d ideally hope for. And as a bonus, he sounds like one of the actors from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The prizes are also substantial — first and second place compete for $ 50/$ 25 bar tabs, while third place receives a round of fireball/kamikaze shots; any team could trade their prize for a cheap(retail price according to my wine app: $ 8) bottle of wine. The $ 50 bar tab is one of the highest prizes I’ve seen for any Queens trivia establishment, outdone(from what I’ve experienced) only by Irish Rover and Astoria Tavern(both of which award cash pots based on $ 10 team buy-ins). But of the nine teams who competed for the $ 50 bar tab, four ended within one point of each other.(Thank goodness for tiebreakers.) How’s that for some healthy competition? I’ve always been a fan of Raven’s Head as a bar establishment. It has a good beer selection. There appears to be a rotating beer special for $ 5, but getting a draft for something like Singlecut is $ 6. Their food selection is also commendable. First of all they go the extra mile when it comes to venturing beyond the bar staples — menu items include burger variations, steak/turkey/chicken sandwiches, kale salad, and Irish chicken curry. Taste-wise I’ve always approved of the curry, although last time I had it the portion was smaller than it once was. But the most recent time I went and had the full order of the shepherd’s pie, which I greatly enjoyed. Although it did look a little burnt(the mashed potato top resembled a toasted pita), it did not affect the taste one bit. There were mixed opinions for the other dishes at the table, particularly the salmon special and French fries.

Good bar food, good service. This is a fun spot to go if you want grab some dinner and drinks or just drinks. The space is big. The upstairs is cool and you can request to play beer pong. Down stoats is bar/table service and then in the back is a nice dining area, but maintains the sports bar vibe. Lots of tvs too. The service has always been good as well– no complaints.
