Pleasantly surprised by the food. The service was rather slow and non chalant. My wife had the miso soup and asked for extra tofu which didn’t happen. I have the filet lunch combo which was good, and a lot of food but was a little pricey at $ 15 for a lunch combo, imo. Not a bad stop along the road trip, place was clean and quiet.

Went here on New Year’s Eve and had dinner. Staff was friendly and seated us right away. The cook was good and all food was cooked just the way we wanted it. Had a great time and will definitely go back when we have money to splurge for a good meal

I don’t know if they’ve recently come under new management or what their story is. We used to go to this restaurant all the time but the quality and service has gone steadily downhill over the past few months until last night was the final nail. It was always a little irksome how high their prices were. It’s fine if you’re actually at a table getting the show but they’re really high if you’re just sitting in the dining area. We sat down and placed our order. We were told that it would cost more if we wanted a particular soup and that was okay but they brought out the wrong soup. We sent it back. Our appetizers arrived with our main food so you would think everything would be the appropriate temperature but the appetizers were cold. Like yucky cold. We had our drinks brought and then we never saw our waiter again. Whenever we wanted or needed something we had to go ask the bartender. Salads came covered with dressings that we asked to have on the side. And when the bill arrived the prices we were charged for our sushi and our tempura were not the prices that they were listed at. It was explained that the sushi menus were old and that the prices had changed. We asked to see the manager and he was smiles and shrugged shoulders. We got them to change the bill but the final insult was the forced gratuity. They made us pay 18% for service that we never received. It was a horrible experience and we will not be going back.

Were new to this area and decided to give this place a try since it was closer to our house, this is the second Habachi restaurant we have eaten at since living in this area. We were very very disappointed. The service was very poor, there are only two waiters/waitress waiting on ppl. Our waiter took our order, but assumed we wanted the house salad with ginger, not sure if this place had any other type of salad dressing because he didn’t say anything, but I decided to give the house salad a try. When the salad arrived I found a long blk hair in my salad(and reading the reviews on Unilocal,I’m not the only one that found a hair in the salad), I told the waiter, he gave me a new salad. The salad was not even fresh and they put too much ginger dressing in it, I couldn’t even eat it. The sushi was good. The cook spoke so slow we couldn’t hear him and he talked the whole time, he talked a little too much. The food was good, but portion size was small, I know a lot of Habachi places give you a lot of food, but this place did not. We ordered extra fried rice for my kids who just wanted the rice, they were disappointed because they only had a little bit of rice and my son was still hungry. We had two other ppl at our tables besides my family and they ordered extra mushrooms and carrorts, but the cook kept giving them extra rice, shrimp etc. I paid the same amount for my food as they did and our portion was small. I’m usually full from eating Habachi since we get sushi with and I always take food home bc I cannot finish, but eating at Kobes I didn’t. The waiter also, gave us large glasses of water, coke etc. Because they do not want to keep filling your glasses up. We had lazy service. This place is definitely over priced and we had a bad experience, we would NEVER go back again.

Overall Kobe is pretty good. The staff is always nice and the food is pretty good. This is normally the hibachi place my husband and I always go to when we want hibachi. We both normally get the shrimp & chicken combo. My husband also always gets the volcano roll.

Ok so I usually don’t do this. But this was the worst. I came in at 8:00pm they close at 9:00pm the server act like she was mad that we walked in. Then our chief was mad at us because the server messed up our order. Slams the food on the grill to the point the food splash on to the table. By then I was so up set that I just asked for a box, that was after I had to wait to get my daughters kids meal. Everything was bad bad bad I would recommend going to the Stafford location better people and food. Also the server and manager was totally unprofessional.

Chef was amazing but that’s where the good time ended. Waitress should have taken a personal day. Two people in my party found hair in their food. You had to ask for drink refills. 4 orders of sushi came on one plate. And finally they charged us for an extra entrée on our bill. First and last visit.

This place was horrible. First off the waitress acted like she didn’t want to be at work the minute we sat down. We found a hair in the salad, then there was a hair in the vegetables. Then they brought everyone at the whole tables sushi out on one plate with no explanation of what anything was. We asked for more water and the waitress just added water to the glasses with no more ice so it was luke warm. So then the bills came out with of course the gratuity added. If the chef hadn’t been so wonderful we would have walked right out!

Not only overpriced, the protein portions are the least of all hibachi places within 50 miles. Yes, they will give you a lot of rice. Grilled vegetables were a joke — some sort of round cut pickled carrots and mushrooms. That was it. Not going back any time soon.

Mildly overpriced, if you are not getting the«show». I wasn’t I specifically sat in the high back seats near the bar and the sushi, There you are allowed to be dressed down and eat with the ‘regulars’. The menu is the same. Why am I paying 27.00 a plate for Hibachi steak and scallops? Fried rice, Fried Zucchini strips, fried mushrooms, stir fried steak and stir fried scallops. Where are the bean sprouts ?? I could have made this for half the price I paid. Those prices are as high as I would pay for a steak at Ruth Chris steakhouse in downtown Richmond or Baltimore. Dinner for 1 with iced Tea and Meal Tax and Tip comes to $ 36.00. Mind you I am off to the side with just cooked food and ‘no chef show’ . They need to cut these prices. Or at least offer those who sit in the bar side 20% off. The server Melissa was the most interesting person in the whole restaurant and I don’t even believe she was Japanese. So much for authenticity. Next time I will try the Garrisonville Kobe’s. . It will be a long time before I venture here again. The other major Japanese place up on Rt 3 does offer special nights and coupons. This place had better wise up. There is a reason why there are so many vacant seats… People cant afford it!!!

Congratulations Kobe, your chef plays a GREAT harmonica!!! But I came for great food NOT to hear«Oh Susana»! Maybe he can practice on making fried rice. I’ve NEVER been grossed out by fried rice until now. They use(not so) «yum yum» sauce… A «seafood sauce» that contains mayonnaise(disgusting). The rice was also undercooked, it would have been nice to give me a warning. I was apprehensive about coming here since it only had 3 stars on Unilocal, but my vote NOT to come here was vetoed. Well, my rating… One star!!!(Only because Unilocal won’t allow ZEROSTARS!!!).

Had a date night here. Not a lot of people there, which was surprising when we tasted how good the food was! Totally catered to is and my husbands shellfish allergy. We were very pleased and certainly will go back.

We went to Kobe with a large party after my daughter’s graduation. I had made a reservation in April for the separate party room. When we arrived we were told it was not available. My husband asked to talk to a manager. The manager came out explained to us that we simply could not have that room because another party would arrive in an hour and they had reserved it. Ok fine, even though I was disappointed. We proceeded with our meal and everything was good. The problem with this restaurant is not the food. It is actually one of our favorites. It is the uncaring attitude of the people that work there. Had it not been a special dinner and we did not have 11 other people with us, I would have left. The food was great but if you are spending that much money on a dinner and everything is not going well you just want someone to care. It is too bad because it was one of our favorite places. There are way too many other options in Fredericksburg to treat people like that. My over all thought was if they don’t care, why come back.

Went on a Sunday afternoon with no one inside. Completely catered to us and were very personable and friendly. Had the Malaysian hibachi chef Giddy who was very funny. Great management. Try it out for fun.

Went to the Garrisonville location a few years ago and really liked it, so made a stop in here with my wife for lunch. We sat with a random assortment of people at a table, rest of the place was empty, although pretty nicely decorated. The chef was nice although I liked the show better at other places, he didn’t do the flaming onion for example. Was quite happy with the food and portions, though. We got the same as I’ve had for dinner at other places, but the lunch costs a lot less. Our portions were cooked nicely so was happy with that. The sushi selection is also pretty decent, although they didn’t have as many selections as the Garrisonville location did when I went there. So I’ll give this location 3.75 stars. I would suggest going for lunch, as you still get a nice big portion for less cost.

I came to Kobe on prom for dinner and I wasn’t so impressed. The food was fine but in my opinion the proportions are very small. I ordered shrimp for my dinner and my boyfriend ordered the steak and he loved everything. But having tried all the other japanese steak houses in Fredericksburg I didn’t find anything special about this place. I actually liked it better when it had been Ozeki’s.

I went on Valentine’s Day with my husband and son, so obviously it was very crowded. The service was awful. We got seated quickly, but it took about 20 minutes for the server to even take our orders. Then another 20 minutes before the chef came. The soup and salad didn’t even show up to our table until after the chef arrived. I would give this restaurant a pass on the service since it was one of the most popular days to eat out, but I have heard the same complaint from others who went there on a normal evening. Moving on to the food… the price of the food compared to other similar restaurants in the area is far higher, $ 4 more for my usual meal(almost 20%). If I got more food for the astonishingly higher price, that would be fine, but in fact I received a LOT less food. The portions were tiny compared to other restaurants, so it’s no wonder almost everyone at the table ordered double rice which tacks on an extra $ 3.50 to your already expensive meal. Another thing I found extremely weird was that our chef gave us the vegetables first. So, there sat my vegetables on my plate getting cold while he started the rest of the meal including the rice. I don’t think anyone really eats the vegetables by themselves, you at least need some rice to go with them before you eat them. In any case, given the poor service, high prices, and small portions, there is no way I will be back to this restaurant even though it is the closest to my house.

Just came home from lunch and it was AMAZING! The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Whenever I go to the Japanese Steakhouses I always end up getting something overcooked. Especially the chicken. Today I ordered the lunch sesame chicken and the chicken was cooked beautifully. It was still juicy. The flavors were right on. The soup was also great. And the seafood sauce was delicious. I literally poured it on all the food on my plate. I know this Kobe’s and the Kobe’s in Stafford are owned by the same man, but the food was better here. I can’t wait to go back to take my husband and kids! I’m so happy to have a Kobe’s in Fredericksburg! My husband may not be as thrilled since it can be pricey for a family of 6.
