I make it here only on special occasions. Food has always been on spot. Service is great. I look forward to my next done in.

I am a huge fan of Japanese Steak Houses and have been coming here for years… This used to be the go to for this type of establishment but there has been more competition as of late with Otani, Kobe and Fujiya House. We came for a friends bday and were sat almost immediately. For a Friday night I was surprised there were open grills. My wife and I ordered sweet teas and had to have one returned because something green was floating in it. The waitress was quick with brining another. I ordered the Filet Minion Shrimp and Chicken with fried rice and mushrooms as an app. My wife ordered Chicken and Shrimp with friend rice and mushrooms as an app. The meals come with soup and salad, mixed vegetables and noodles. Now to my meal… The soup while it was good was not hot and neither was any one elses(8 total at the table) The salad was awesome as usual. The ginger dressing they use is fantastic and I ended up eating 4(don’t judge haha) some people just don’t eat greens… The rice was awesome but didn’t seem to get evenly distributed as my wife had what seemed like half of what I did. The mushroom app were good and bigger than I remember. The mixed vegetables were on point as usual. You cant go wrong with the chicken or shrimp but my favorite part of the meal was my filet. I always order the filet rare because when I order medium rare its always over cooked… when I order rare typically it ended up close to medium rare and its perfect… the noodles were ok Im guessing lo mein but didn’t fit in with the meal. I wish they didn’t get rid of the bean sprouts. The portions are huge so be prepared to bring some home. The meal is always expensive but its basically dinner and a show… always end up paying around $ 70 for 2… Our chef wasn’t bad but it seems like the shows that the chefs used to do with spinning spatulas and making jokes just doesn’t happen much anymore. I recommend wearing a light jacket inside as its always cold for some reason. Would I come back? Only if someone else wants to… wouldn’t be my first choice anymore. Just not as impressive as it used to be. Steak by far was the best part.

Absolutely terrible service and food. My wife and I like to try new sushi places, so we arrived at 5:30pm on a Wednesday night to try out Sukura. We walk in and the place is thick with smoke from the steakhouse grills. We sit down at the sushi dinner section of the restaurant. We were right under a speaker, blaring music, so much for a quit dinner lol. Our waitress/hostess/manager took my order for sushi, but walked off as my wife was about to order from the grill menu. Which she new she was using as we had to ask her for a menu, twice. After a few minutes of running all over the restaurant trying to do three jobs she came back and took Patty’s order. Understand, the place was not busy. Half the grills were empty and there were only 3 tables filled in the sushi section, and they had their orders already. Pretty soon my wife’s grill order comes out… Burnt. I sit and watch her eat. Thirty minutes go by no food. Then the girl comes up and says it will be another 25 minutes! I told her to forget it, just get us the bill. The bill was $ 30 for a plate of burnt vegetables and 2 cokes!!!

Unimpressive food but the service was slow for no reason. The restaurant was quiet. Try umi or miso on route one. Heck even greasy asian buffets would have been more satisfying.

Dinner was okay. Nothing fantastic about the meal. Had the shrimp tempura roll to start and it was pretty good. Salad had to much dressing. It was like a ordered a bowl of sesame dressing. Ordered the filet and shrimp meal and my steak was over cooked. Two stars for steak and it could be cleaner.

Some of my favorite(local) sushi. The sushi is always super flavorful, as we tend to go for more«detailed» rolls rather than the regular, more basic rolls like the California. We love the different sushi«toppings» that each different rolls have. The rolls look different each time we go-the sushi chef is almost a «sushi artist» and makes the rolls«pretty”-sometimes we’ll get a dragon, and other times the sushi is topped with a beautiful flower. As for the grill part of the restaurant, I can’t say much because it has been quite a while since we have done that dining experience. I do remember it always being fun and tasty… no the fact that when my brother was little, he would hide under the table because he was afraid of the fire.

Mmm white sauce! And scallops! We went on a Monday night lateish and there were still plenty of people at the tables and sushi bar — great mixed drinks too!

We went as a nice sized group and were able to get an entire grill all to ourselves. Even though we had reservations, we still had to wait more than 20 mins to be seated. We heard others in the bar area complain about waiting to place a drink order as well. But once we were seated, the experience was excellent! The chef we got was personable an did an excellent job preparing the dinner. The food tasted GREAT and packed a LOT of flavor! Price is very nice considering all the great food that was served and the Teppanyaki experience.

Well, we just ate here. The food was overcooked, the chef chucked hot chicken into my friend’s eye, and it was altogether a very unpleasant time. The one good thing I can say is that the waitresses were kind and smiled brightly. Would not recommend this specific Sakura in this location.

Entertaining but the food was bland. Steak had no flavor and was really tough and the grill was so hot some of the veggies burned and left that taste on everything that followed. This place used to be better…

First time visiting a Japanese steakhouse. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn’t super busy so we got seated right away — party of 7. I was wearing flip flops which give you no traction and the floors were slightly slippery and I’m clumsy and prone to falling on my a$$ so that was noted. I just walked slowly & carefully! Waitress we got was new… bless her heart but she tried to get it & got most of it right except I think she confused the heck out of the chef when she took our orders b/c he was lost trying to read her ticket order lol. I was surprised to be at a Japanese restaurant and get a Spanish chef but what the hey, a chefs a chef. He was entertaining and fast. I got filet & shrimp, the shrimp was excellent but I asked for the steak medium & it came out OVER well done so that was disappointing. They give you a ton of food though(app; salad; soup; rice; veggies) and we all left with leftovers, I was stuffed. It’s a nice clean restaurant, bathrooms were pretty clean, staff is friendly as well.

First time here. Came in from Cali to visit my boyfriend and was the worse service I ever had. We had a group of 11 people and made reservations and we sat down another table came in after us and got served and left before us. Not to mention a table to the far got seated an hour after and got served before us. On a brighter note Damian the bus boy: helper man was amazing he was so sweet and helpful he listen to my complaints and got us help right away after we explained what happen. So a big thanks to him. They forgot a lot of our food and some was extremely burnt. I will not be coming back.

I have to say this is one of my favorite places to eat have been twice this year and can’t wait to go tomorrow! Although I am an expensive date when I go I always get the shrimp scallops and lobster which is prolly the most expensive meal on the menu bit it’s always great and I always have plenty of left overs! And I always use a ton of «yum yum» sauce. Every time we go we have an amazing time my daughter loves the«show«and the chefs are always great. But I do have to say that EveryTime we have been the wait staff has been lacking so it makes it very hard to give a good tip when they never bring you a refill but other than that it’s great! If you go for a birthday they always give a free desert and sing«happy birthday» they also take a picture of your party that you can purchase for $ 2 which we always get.

When I reviewed Fujiya House, I remembered I hadn’t put in a review of Sakura. So yes, for some reason there are three teppanyaki places all close to each other off of Route 3. But, they all seem to do pretty decent business. This one is furthest west on 3, so closest to my house. It is the oldest of the three, and look out when you go in because the little set of steps in the front that you see from the road leads nowhere — you have to go around to the side. They have a pretty good amount of room inside and nice sized tables. You can get a double rice portion for a couple of bucks more with your order. In comparing the three places, Otani has the best sushi deals, and I liked the food at the teppanyaki at Fujiya House a little more, and they offer a lot of coupons. But Sakura had the best show and most attentive chef of all three I have been to, which is very important at a place like this. The food was almost as good as Fujiya House, but more expensive without the coupons. I enjoyed my visit to all three places though, I would go to any of them again, just depends on where you are and what you are looking for. All three are four star places.

Food was okay but pricey! Seriously it was too pricey for the quality of food. Plus, they provided the free food to other tables but not mine! What’s up with that! Thank GOD! I don’t need to go there again as I live far far away from here.

Horrible. Went Friday nite with reservations for 4 at 8. Waited 15 minutes for seating after arrival(at a cold grill) with the AC blowing on us. It was 25 degrees outside and the air was coming in. Asked to move and was shown four other seats at the same grill. 15 minutes later drink order came. Another couple was seated with us then the server came to take order. Server rushed everybody and did not offer all the sides or options. Another round of drinks and then the cook came out and confirmed everyones order. Then he started with the lackluster cooking show compared to the other 4 tables around us. We could barely hear him and he made no effort to entertain us. Vegetables first then rice then meats. Never served/prepared two things at same time. Forget to serve a member of our party the steak(the other couple who ordered the cheaper steak, got his portion) and he said that was not what we ordered. But yet he confirmed it prior to starting the meal. If I pay for FILETMIGNON then I want more than 4 toddler sized bites from it and don’t mix mine with theirs cuz they didn’t order filet and ordered cheap steak. Paid and left trying to forget this awful experience except just after i made it t down the road about 2 miles the gut started rumbling and I spent the nite racing to the john.

Come here to eat if you have more money than sense. If i could give this place negative stars i would. I’ll try to keep this short and sweet. I’ve been here on 3 separate occasions. 2 of them was because my girlfriend’s family seems to love this place and the only reason i went was to respect my girlfriend’s mom birthday dinner choice. Its even kinda odd how they would complain about the wait time and how bland the food is before and after their meals but still return. you are really just paying for the show and onion train. every entrée on the menu is 19 dollars and up. The average wait time with reservations is 45 mins. I guess they are waiting on more patrons to fill up the tables. You can complain all you want but when your stomach is full of food, you’ll forgive and forget. My first time here I ordered the chicken entrée. It came with salad swimming in dressing. The soup tasted like the left over water from your cup of noodles instant ramen. 3 small pcs of shrimp and fried rice with a horriable ratio of 2 eggs for 8 servings/guest. the meal was okay but for the cost its not worth it. its super expensive for what youre getting. Usually you get what you pay for but not here. I guess peas and carrots, 2 eggs and a few pieces of chicken and shrimp are 20 dollars worth +tax and tip. I wasn’t that hungry the 3rd time and If you’re not eatting via show/entrée you have to pay a 5 dollar plate charge. WOWJUSTWOW. I don’t know any other restaurant that does this. why not take my first born too? When you order sushi, there is a minimum of 2 rolls. WOWJUSTWOW. The rolls are so small, the ones at kroger are bigger and are for the same price. I ordered the eel roll and they were the diameter of quarters. Good luck filling up on sushi. the california rolls come in 8 pcs. you’ll get bigger and more at kroger. the service was MIA. We hardly got our refills and they only showed up to give us the bill(aka GTFO we got other paying customers) I have not needed to use the restroom here, so I can’t say anything. I doubt anyone would eat here if they served the same food without a show. May God have mercy on your wallet.

Had a Saturday night dinner before a movie at this location off Route 3. Plenty of seating around the hot plate for the cooking show. While I’ve dined at several Japanese Steak Houses in the area, this was my first time to Sakura although I’ve passed by it for years. That’s a good sign here, when a restaurant can stick around that long and make it through this recession, to boot. The chef put on a really good show — — complete with comedy and massive, smoking onions. These things never bore me, especially the first burst of fire. Had the Filet & Shrimp combo. Excellent, melt-in-your mouth beef, tender shrimp and rice with«yum-yum» sauce, as our chef liked to call it. Left full with a goody-bag to take along. Kept it in the cooler while we took in a movie. That’s a whole other review for a different place… Even though I found out the coupon I had was only good for Mon-Friday and had to pay full price, I wasn’t shocked at the bill. Decent evening prices for a place like this! Good job, Sakura, on your consistency. Our dining companions were all regulars. Yum-yum!

A pretty typical Teppanyaki(food cooked on an iron griddle) place. The presentation was entertaining but not exceptional… no complaints… no cheers. Food was OK, perhaps a bit bland playing it safe for the general patron. Adding strong flavors would be more of a challenge to please all at the table I guess. I prefer a Mongolian grill where you can choose your own ingredients and spices. Service was not bad but we were there at 5PM on a Saturday and the restaurant was not full by any means, so it should not have been challenging for the wait staff, it may have been worse if they were busy. Prices are a bit high but typical for these types of places, you pay a premium for the chef to hit you in the eye with a small piece of shrimp and squirt cooking liquid on to the griddle out of a plastic man that appears to be peeing.

This is one of three Sushi/Japanese steakhouses in the area, and the only one I hadn’t been to until this weekend. The sushi is surprisingly good for the area. I opted for the unagi, the uni, and the o-toro. The portions were generously large and reasonably priced. The quality of the unagi and the toro was decent too. The uni was just okay. But given the dismal choices for sushi in the area, I would have to recommend people stop by here to get their fix as it is the best in the area. For the main course I had the hibachi steak, with grilled shrimp as an appetizer and a side of fried rice. At 9:30pm, there were only two people at the my particular grill station which made for an uninspired performance by the chef. He seemed depressed actually, though he was very friendly. But I didn’t come here for the entertainment, my focus was on the food. The portions were very large here too, making it an excellent value. My medium rare steak was overcooked to the point of being medium, but the steak was decent otherwise. The fried rice was pretty good and properly salted. And surprisingly the shrimp were not overcooked as can often happen in these performances. 4 stars for the sushi. 3 stars for the steak as this is not the best Japanese steakhouse in the area. 3.5 stars on the service since the hostess was very nice. Overall 3.5 stars.
