This place was really awesome! The food was delicious and the chef was entertaining and cooked our food to perfection. The filet mignot was seriously melt in your mouth delicious and the pyrotechnics were on point with what I have come to expect from a Japanese steakhouse. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it feels dark in there. That might be preference but when you walk in I got the sense it was dirty(ITWASNOT) but that’s what I thought from the low lit room(with black ceilings and dark carpet). I would update the décor maybe put in tile or wood floors; but that wouldn’t stop us from coming back! Would highly recommend!

We normally patronize Kobe Hibachi in Stafford(close to home), but were in Fredericksburg shopping, and tried this place out. NOTDISAPPOINTED! Everything was better, service, freshness of food, quality of the meat and seafood. We spoke with others at our table who said the same thing, this place rocks!

We went to Fujiya for my granddaughters birthday. There were 16 people in our party, so we took both sides of the table. We all ordered and were served our soup and salad. Soon one of the chefs came and began cooking for one side of the table. We waited about another half hour and our chef still hadn’t shown up. We told the waitress twice that we were all one party. She said ok, but didn’t do anything. When the other half of our party were already eating and we were still sitting there, my husband went to talk to the management. They said they didn’t realize that we were all together. Bull. They sat us as a group. Since half of us were almost done eating and our food hadn’t even begun to be prepared, we decided to leave. The manager simply said ok and ordered the table cleared while we were still putting our coats. No apology, no explanation. Just a rude ok. When the waitress asked why we were leaving and my daughter said because the other half of our party was almost done eating, she said she didn’t know we were together. My daughter told her that we’d told her twice and she said she should have listened; admitting she hadn’t even been listening to what we were saying. We were all going to my house after dinner for cake and ice cream. How were we supposed to do that if half are finished eating an hour before the other half? Since we were going to my house, what were the others supposed to do once they were finished eating? Sit there, holding up a table, while people waited to be seated? My granddaughter cried when we left, upset that we couldn’t eat with them. This restaurant totally ruined my granddaughters birthday. Even if we hadn’t been together with the other people, waiting 45 minutes for a them to begin preparing our meal is inexcusable. We will never return and definitely wouldn’t ever recommend it!

The food was decent and well prepared, the chef was friendly and entertaining, and the waitress was very sweet. No complaints with the staff, other than the steak being *slightly* oversalted. However — MAJOR gripe with the management or whoever does the scheduling. We had a 7pm reservation for new years’ eve last night — we knew it was going to be busy; that’s why we made the reservation in the first place. We arrived at 7 on the dot; the place was packed and there were already about 5 people standing in the(very small) waiting area. The hostess informed us that it would be about a 20 minute wait. If I’d known it was going to be longer, we likely would have left — we ended up standing in the lobby(which became increasingly packed) for an hour. We didn’t get seated until 8pm, and by the time we were done, we were going to be too late for our dance event we had planned. I feel for the poor hostess — she was getting accosted by angry customer after angry customer, and she was doing her very best! She was super polite in the face of some major irritation. However, I believe that we are rightfully annoyed with the establishment. You know you’re going to be packed on NYE. You SHOULD have a general idea of how quickly you can turn a full table — that’s part of being able to manage your establishment well. I’m very disappointed in how this turned out, and will not be going back for any future holiday reservation.

This place is amazing! If only it was closer to where I lived. I’ve come here a few times, usually with groups of friends for special occasions. We generally get seated pretty fast, but it can get super busy so I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. This place is my go-to for impressing friends because the chefs are so great at what they do. They do more than just put on a cooking show, they always make us laugh. The service here deserves a commendation also. They’re friendly and efficient. It’s hard to look around and ever see a dirty plate or an empty cup. At the same time, it doesn’t feel like they’re constantly hovering over your table(one of my personal pet peeves). Of course, it would all be for naught if it wasn’t for the FOOD. OMGTHEFOOD. I’m a huge sushi and teppanyaki fan and this place delivers on both fronts. Looks nice? Check. Fresh? Check. Delicious? Check! My personal favorite sushi roll is the Strawberry and Kiwi roll. I’ve never seen that kind of combination before but I’m sooo glad I took that chance. A special aspect of this place is how friendly the owners are. The husband is a teppanyaki/sushi chef while the wife will act as host/waitress. I love businesses where the owners take an active role. And with these two in particular you can really see how much they care for both their restaurant and you as the customer.

At first look of the outside, I really didn’t like the location– next to a auto body shop. Looks small, cozy and cute on the inside. The kids had a blast! The cook was funny and friendly. The food was alright, not the best because my veggies were hard. I ordered chicken teppanyaki– not enough noodles in the serving. The excitement came from the cooks personality and the cooking right there in front of us. My kids loved it! Loved that more than the food! But, if you’re dining with children it can get pretty pricey! Another thing, the cook and another couple, at our table, were speaking a different language with each other which made us feel awkward and left out– Had a whole conversation… Hello…what are you saying? But all in all I’d go back, but not before trying another similar place to dine first.

This review is a little late… but hey better late than never, right? Fujiya is FANTASTIC! Me and my fiancée went here for our anniversary several months back, and received excellent, excellent, excellent, service. I had heard this place was really good, and so the first time we went here, they gave us some nice trinkets for being our first time, got some free mugs(who doesn’t like free stuff?) food was great! The second time we went was for our anniversary, the waitress was super friendly and very kind and helpful, and the chef was also very friendly and funny. The food was delicious and filled us up to the max! We have been meaning to come back, but busy schedules have prevented, but we will for sure be making a visit soon for some delicious food! Must go and try!

This is far and away our favorite sushi place in the area. We have been to both Miso and Umi, but Fujiya’s sushi definitely gets our vote. We’ve never gotten hibachi here so we can’t speak to that, but the sushi quality and options are fantastic. And the miso soup is the best we’ve ever had anywhere! The service has also always been great — very fun and friendly staff. We also love that parking is abundant(since it’s in a shopping plaza) and there is rarely a wait, neither of which is the case for the other sushi places I mentioned above. And finally, instead of mints they have a huge bowl of fun size candy like Swedish fish packs Gobstoppers, etc as you leave. Awesome! We love this place!

Good hibachi restaurants are so hard to find. We always enjoy Fujiya. I love the salmon and my wife loves their lobster. The shrimp tempura rolls are yummy as well.

I always chose this place over Otani’s due to their sushi menu and their soup is not miso it is a chicken broth with mushroom and onions. Miso is available but only if you order it. :)

I would have never known that this place existed if it wasn’t for Unilocal since it’s tucked away by NTB and Best Buy in Central Park. I’m not a hibachi connoisseur but it was as good as Otani and I’ll definitely come back since I live close by and the décor is nice than Otani’s. If you want good hibachi it’s certainly worth the visit.

Oh goodness, where do I begin? So I frequented this place when I was in college. Probably ate here about 3 times a month. It was out of my budget as a college kid but it was ALWAYS worth it. I love hibachi. But I hate the corporate ones. The reason why is because it’s always a «get them in and out» and I hated being rushed. At Fujiya, because it’s owned by a family, they treat you like family. There is no end when talking about how great the customer service is. The owners… Super nice people. Since moving away I am so sad that I can’t dine here as often. But honestly, I will make the drive down just to eat here. Like I did on Friday, totally worth it. The sushi is always fresh. I have never had a piece that was off in taste. The rolls are also very creative and if you’re adventurous this is the place great to try them. The beautiful roll is my favorite! As for the hibachi. So good. The meat is always tender and their yum yum sauce is the best in the area. If you are in town. DINEHERE! You will not be disappointed. :)

My husband and I came to Fujiya when we were in the Fredericksburg area. Our teppenyaki chef was really nice. We had the standard, which was the filet mignon with the shrimp appetizer, that came with salad with ginger dressing, mushroom soup, sauteed vegetables, and fried rice. The ginger dressing was good as it had good chunks of ginger pieces throughout. The overall meal was okay, but it seemed it was a little underseasoned. You can tell that Fujiya is definitely less greasy than other hibachi places, and I think they strive to be more on the ‘healthier’ side in terms of using less oil and less salt/seasoning. Their yum-yum sauce was okay, but it was more mayo than the spices. The show was entertaining and I’m glad I was able to try this place out. +less greasy compared to other hibachi restaurants

Went here for my Sons birthday celebration. We had family in from the West coast and wanted to gather for a meal. This was a great choice. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. Our Chef/Cook was talented and made us all laugh. The food was exceptional as well. This is a great place for a large group, they have something for everyone.
