I just ordered the heart attack for a friend who is trying sushi for the first time. He loved it. I personally love their Sashimi. Their Salmon is VERYFRESH, rare for this area of the country. You also need to try some of their specials rolls. Definitely the best Japanese Restaurant in the Springs!

I’ve tried most of the sushi restaurants in Colorado Springs and Fujiyama is definitely the tastiest I’ve had. So many options to choose from, there’s something for everyone and it all tastes great!

Average for sushi! The rolls seem to be mostly rice and fillers instead of fish. Never horrible but never outstanding

We have gone to Fujiyama twice in the past 3 months for dinner, thanks to groupon, pay $ 25 for $ 50 worth. We have had good food and great service. Last night we both had bento boxes, which were delicious and generous. I had a plum wine, which the server warned was sweet, and I enjoyed it. We had excellent service from fairly new manager, Kathy, who seems to be a great asset to this restaurant. We have been here in the past 1 – 3 years and were not impressed by the service st all. Now that we have had two really good experiences, we will return and recommend this place to others.

Today’s experience was one of the worse by far. Got there before the lunch crowd, party of two, ordered 3 rolls each which isn’t a lot. Something must have gotten messed up w our waitress because we didn’t get our food for 1.5 hrs. The table who happened to sit right by us came here 30 minutes after us and got there food before us. By the time we got our food they were already done eating. Pretty ridiculous. It seemed like our waitress maybe forgot to put our order in or something. So inconvenient because we had to go pay for our meter again. Anyways the sushi today was mediocre. Not like usual. The spider roll was like I’ve never seen before. Lots of weird vegts in it and very fishy tasting, also a million black mad go/fish eggs on top. Super Disappointing. The tiger mask was also not very good :(

Horrible, horrible, horrible! BEWARE. Don’t let the fancy menu and location fool you. This place is less than mediocre. My family of 4 went in on a Friday night around 6 pm. The place was dead, that should have been a red flag. We were seated promptly and had ice water(nasty tap water) on our table within a minute of being seated. We ordered 2 specialty rolls, miso ramen, teriyaki chicken and a beef bowl dish. All which tasted old. The sushi didn’t come with wasabi or ginger. The teriyaki chicken was supposed to come with soup or salad(never given the option). The beef tasted old and soggy. The ramen was soggy and the broth was really thick, so thick that everything just mashed together. We told the waitress about the ramen issue and her reply was, «oh well, I guess you know what not to order next time.» Needless to say we won’t ever be back. And to top it all off we waited almost an hour for our food while we watched other people seated after us served first. Main point: The food was horrible and WAY over priced. Tip: No military discount.

The food would get almost five stars. If only I’d come on a full-price night, my review might be better. Monday from 5 to 6 is half price on everything. Sadly, the service was so bad I’d rather not have come. The table next to us had five people –three who pushed their way in front of us at the door, the other two arrived later — already a bad policy to seat diners before the whole party arrives — and we spent the evening longing for their wonderful waiter. Ours brought our drinks(a simple bottle of wine) 30 minutes after we ordered it, which was 25 minutes after we arrived. Our food came 30 minutes later(the party of five had already eaten and left) and while the food was delicious, it was not what we ordered(although our server insisted it was!). The food is great, our server was horrible(not an excuse that it’s half off night) and we left stressed out and unhappy.

When I went, this place was unfreaking believable. Try the rolls. Experiment a little. Good food, good service at a reasonable price.

Overall, good place to have sushi. Semi over priced for the quality. Good atmosphere and quality service. Would enjoy it more probably at their happy hour.

The lunch specials are what bring me here. Half off rolls, holla! But everything is hit or miss. Sometimes you get something fishy and sometimes you get an amazingly succulent piece of fish. Everything is overly slathered in eel sauce and spicy mayo, but still good.

FYI — not really open until 10pm, they stop seating at 9:30. It’s 9:30pm exactly on a Saturday and the host wouldn’t seat us. Second time this has happened. It’s mediocre sushi anyway… Sadly the best COS has to offer. Last chance for Fujiyama!

By far the worst Japanese food restaurant I have ever been to. I’ve been here a couple of times to give them a try, but the third time was the last straw. I tried to like this place, as I am a huge fan of Japanese food. But this last visit has completely deterred me from ever coming back. It seemed like a semi-busy night considering it was a Saturday evening, but I would think that a spot like this one would prepare for the busyness that are weekend evenings. I am not a demanding person, all I ask for is that my water cup be refilled when it’s empty and be courteous to your customers. Well, my server never came by to refill my water cup. But I think the worst part of my experience there was the vegetarian sushi, «Deer Butt»: comprised of tempura sweet potato, amongst other veggies. First they serve me the dish without the sweet potato, I pointed it out to them and they graciously served me the correct one. But when I took a bite into it, I heard a loud crunch. The sushi was weirdly hard. Turns out the entire roll had raw sweet potato. To really top it off, they served our sushi first, and 15 minutes later served my friend’s son his meal, and lastly our appetizer was served. What a mess. Sorry, Fujiyama, but I think I’ll wait until I visit San Diego to get my sushi fix.

This is what I said, earlier: I have no idea how the sushi is, save the two tiny pieces of California roll in the bento box(beef teriyaki) — these were«okay» at best, BTW — but the service and food otherwise were absolutely unsat. The beef teriyaki looked pale and washed out, soggy and in a soupy solution of after-boil gravy, likely because it had been sitting in a large pot all day. As to the service, well that was simply ass: I sat at the bar, and felt much like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense: I was the ghost none of the staff seem to notice. In hopes this was a one-off error on the restaurant’s part, I returned a couple of days later to try the sushi. I sat at a table for ten(10) minutes, after which time I simply got up and walked out. I will not be back, their service is lousy. This is my opinion, now: They are MUCH better! The sushi has always been solid since I’ve been a customer(I wrote the above piece in Jan 2015 and I’ve been there many times since), but the SERVICE has gotten MUCH better(thank God)! Now the caveats: 1) Go at lunch ONLY — the sushi is otherwise overpriced for the area, and it’s(well, most of it – ask your waiter) half-price at lunch; 2) If you’re solo, eat at the bar: You’ll seat yourself immediately and avoid the long lunch lines(which start stacking up around 11:30 and continue for at least the next hour — Who knew?); 3) Go for the sushi ONLY — Hellloo? It’s a *SUSHI* restaurant(it’s like going to the Texas Panhandle and ordering«sea bass» instead of a ribeye: What *are* you thinking?!?); and finally, 4) Since I have eaten ONLY at the sushi bar, I can’t vouch for service in the REST of the restaurant. That said, the service since I gave Fujiyama another Mulligan back in Feb(at the recommendation of a friend) has been very good every time I’ve been there. Yes, I will be back. Even so, a dip in service of the kind I witnessed at the beginning of this year would have me throw in the towel for good: I won’t suffer a hat trick of bad service from any restaurant, independent of the food quality.

Don’t go here with a gazette deal of the day if you haven’t printed it. Thank God I mentioned having it right at the beginning. They won’t take it off the phone. No mention on the deal about that. No mention in the limited rules. Definitely submitting for a refund. As I just wasted a drive downtown to a «modern restaurant» that can’t take a simple coupon off the phone. Buyers beware!

The food was pretty good, I enjoyed the California rolls very much. We sat at the sushi bar and had green tea, sushi, sashimi and a good time. My husband said it was very fresh salmon and nearly scarfed it down. There were two problems, the time it took for service and a couple of waitresses dress. Our waiter took extra time to get our check out to us so we didn’t get the discount we were expecting since we were there and finished before the cutoff time. A waitress in particular, was wearing shorts that were shorter than her serving apron, another was wearing a very revealing shirt. I’m there for food, if those were things I wanted to see I would’ve gone somewhere else. I will not be returning because of it.

The ambiance was very nice. Not like a lot of sushi places around here that feel very strip-mallish. I wish I liked the food better. We started with Seaweed Salad. As entrees, we got the Vegas Roll and the Spencer Roll. I might have enjoyed it a bit more if I didn’t consider all the rolls to be overpriced by about 2 – 3 dollars. To be fair, the rolls were not skimpy by any means. I enjoyed the Vegas a lot more than the the Spencer. I felt the Spencer just had too much going on. Also, there was no complimentary salad with ginger dressing or miso soup. So that made the price gouging even more obvious. I ordered a bourbon and ginger. Waitress never asked what my preference was, so I assumed it would be well. That was fine by me. I finished my drink about halfway through our meal and placed it on the edge of the table making it obvious that I’d at least like to be asked if I’d like another. By the time she did check on us there was only a bite or two of food left so I nixed the second cocktail. When we did get our check I saw that the bourbon I was given was Makers Mark and was $ 8, don’t get me wrong, I love Makers and had I known that was their standard option I would have been okay with it. My last point of contention with the restaurant, there were no pictures of the different rolls. I’ll certainly give this place a second try in a few months, but I’d certainly like to think there are better sushi options in the springs.

Ordered two chirashi and one pork Katsu. From both plates the sushi smelled fishy and was a bit slimy. The tobiko smelled off, the rice was mushy on one half of the pile and crunchy on the other. No joke, I stopped eating after a few bites and took the leftovers home to fry in my kitchen. What’s the point of complaining to a place that obviously relies on frequency of drunk downtowners for revenue. Certainly not a place for fans of quality sushi. The pork Katsu meat was tough and chewy, the breading was not crunchy. Very sad because I have not been able to find a place that knows how to make a decent Katsu anywhere in the springs. Father’s Day meal not very tasty.

I originally reviewed this establishment with 5-stars. Unfortunately, that has changed, not because of the food quality or drinks, but because of the service. My girlfriends and I had a reservation for 7:45pm. We arrived and were promptly brought to our table. We sat down, reviewed our menu, marked our choices with the dry-erase marker and were ready to place our order! 10 minutes…15 minutes…20 minutes had passed and we still didn’t even have WATER! My friend stood up and asked the hostess if there was a waiter /waitress available for our table. The waitress came around, brought us water, and took our order. Ok, things were moving along, this is great, we’re starving! 30 minutes…40 minutes…45 minutes… had passed and our food was nowhere to be found. The patrons sitting at the table next to us arrived about 30 minutes after we did and within 20 minutes they had their sushi and drinks. Well, that was frustrating. We notified our waitress and asked to speak to the manager. The manager came to our table and immediately rectified the situation. She brought our food to us and apologized for the delay. She then offered each of us(there were four in our group) 30% off each item on our bill. That was kind, but it didn’t change the fact that we were starving! We wanted to order more food but didn’t want to go through the hassle of waiting another 30 minutes to receive it. Unfortunately, because of the service I doubt I will be returning to Fujiyama. If you have time to spare then I highly recommend this restaurant. If you expect prompt service and a decent time to receive your order then I recommend you go elsewhere.

I’ve been enjoying sushi here for a long time. The food has always been amazing but within the last year or so the service has been lacking. Great Food but if you are looking for both great food and great service this is not the place for you.

I like this place. I’ve only been to a couple of sushi restaurants as I just tried sushi for the first time 2 weeks ago. So you may find this valuable you may not but compared to the other places I’ve been to this one tops it. They have a wild menu but this is a picture of the«viagra» sushi I had. This was my favorite from the other 3 I had(rainbow roll, the regular spicy calif roll and I forgot the other one). I would recommend it and I’ll probably be back one day.
