The Thirsty Parrot

So as jazz bar and grill i love it!!! Had the volcano nachos and bbq nachos and swiss burgers. I know there are other reviews that state this place is bad i dont see it as a trashy place and and its cool for a date. During 6pm to 9 live jazz cant beat it! Price good food was great! I came on a weds so who knows but as chef and a lowkey person this is a joint to hang out at

This place has a bouncer and two waitresses that are not allowing African-​american military patrons to enter the establishment. They are using the excuse that they have received complaints on them which give the right to not let them in the building. The real reason they are not letting some of them in is because they are not tipping the waitresses. I did not know that you must tip or you won’t be allowed in establishment. I though tipping was a courtesy… This place should be placed on the off limits list by Fort Carson…

We saw a customer bus his own food and go behind the bar to top off his drink when the bartender was busy on a holiday when it was dead. So weird.

This is an interesting place. There’s often great live music options early in the evening. But, the atmosphere is still very skeezy club /​dive bar while listening to the great music. The upstairs stage area is really unique to Colorado Springs, but again, it’s not quite the atmosphere to match. After hours and especially on the weekends it’s more a dance and hook up club. Service is always good. They do have bar food for cheap.

I arrived here around 11:30 p.m. to meet up with friends and did I have a great time! The crowd is mostly younger than me but I’m young at heart so I felt comfortable soon after arriving.
The drinks are very reasonably priced. There are two floors with two different types of music playing along with two dance floors. That’s a lot of 2’s, LOL!
It’s mostly black folks but a good amount of everyone else as well.
The top floor base is sick! I thought my heart was going to vibrate right out of my chest, LOL! The DJ was flawless with the song choices and their transition into other songs. My husband and I were both impressed!
There were no fights, arguments… just fun and just the way I like it =) We left at 2 a.m. when the lights came on.

First time going in the three years I’ve lived here. Only reason I went was for a friend’s birthday. We had two other people join us. All paying separate. We were charged a 30.00 gratuity. When the bill was brought this gratuity wasn’t on the bill. We divided out our individual charges and marked them on the bill. When she came back I was charged the gratuity plus a little more. A friend of mine was charged 122. We requested from Melissa to bring back the receipt that we wrote on and she said she threw it in the trash. I told her to go get it. Melissa advised she wasn’t going to do that. She went and got her manager. He cleared things up and told us we weren’t the first people to complain about her service. We had to go get our food out of the window because Melissa was to busy flirting with an all guys table. I will not return to this bar, regardless if my friends are celebrating their birthdays. I’ll wait to meet up with them later. Melissa, your nasty looks as you walked by us the rest of the night cost you a tip and business lost. Good job girl.

One waitress on a Saturday night, waited over an hour for a salad and French dip. Everything was very salty. At least the manager bought us a round! :)

Awesome place to drink and dance at.
Drinks are pretty cheap and the music will def. lead you to the dance floor!
I literally danced the entire time when there with 2 min breaks to take a sip from my cold beer.
People working there are friendly and they keep the place clean, removing bottles from the tables right away.
I totally recommend this spot to people that like to save some money and be able to dance without bumping into another person every 2 minutes.
Crowd was pretty friendly, no fights, no drama, and zero shit talk !

I was here on a Friday night, but it was a little early and the place was empty. I did not eat here, but we ordered rum buckets. They were good but they were $ 15 each and I did not think they were worth that at all. The buckets are a decent size, but there was not much alcohol in them. I would go back, but maybe order something else to drink. The atmosphere was a lot of fun!

I just stopped in for a beer with a buddy on Thursday. It was happy hour and dead. so not much to report. Seemed everyone in there was just there for a drink before moving on.

For me, having had to go gluten free a couple years ago, it was nice to hang out at a bar and have a gluten free beer option that actually tasted good. Had Apple’s Cider angry ale… or something like that. But for me, a typical bar atmosphere.

It’s got two levels… got here early and watched it start to pick up. DJ Justin has a great mix he is using downstairs. Bartender was a bit of a dull, expect more energy and friendliness from bartenders.

Eh, it was alright… been here many times. This place seems to be the starting point of bar hopping or club hopping on downtown. I doubt I would voluntarily go there again but with a couple beer in me, I’m sure I will.

Love the Thirsty Parrot. They host the Notre Dame Club’s game watches each Fall and the owners go out of their way for us. Furthermore, they remember us, our names, our drinks, the owners, Erica and Justin are fantastic. Clearly the Irish are a love/​hate football team, but a bar that is willing to open up in the middle of the morning/​day/​evening to host a fun club game watch (of which is not even their preferred football team) is up on my list of awesome.
Past this, I also am not ashamed to admit I love the music there. Its a bit of the one hit 90’s early 2000’s hits with some of the new dance music. Its just fun — I am so not game for a «Mansion» type dance music style and this is the anti-​Mansion. It is what it is — with a little bit downstairs and little bit upstairs, pool, games, dj, bands, they play UFC — admittedly not the cleanest classiest place around but you’ll have fun if you go there.
We hosted my husbands deployment party here and a our Unit has done a few other events there since — all ages loved it. Just have fun — you can do that here.

Oh the Thirsty Parrot. For a downtown bar, it works. Douchbag central. Full of girls that are trying way to hard and guys that think the popped collar is an okay dress style. I do like the live bands, their sound system is pretty good so I dont have to worry about understanding the vocalist like some other music venues.

Didn’t feel like doing «the club thing» on a 4 degree night so decided on something low key. Originally decided on this place to play pool upstairs on the second floor. Wasn’t my type of place, but for a quick drink it isn’t bad.

Cougars– this is the watering hole for you. Full of fresh college boys ready to get experienced.

The hubby and I went to The Thirst Parrot on a Friday and it was packed. First thing we walk into was a fight between two guys. They shoved this girl right in front of me sending her flying drink and all. Bouncers kicked them out immediately. We then head to the bar and it took forever to get a drink. We were probably waiting for about 30 minutes since there were only 2 bartenders on a busy night! They had $ 4 drink specials on Friday on any drink. Music was really good (hiphop, house, r&b) and the crowd was a young, college scene. Dress code was casual. Upstairs floor had better service, less crowded and they had pool tables. Overall, not bad except I would recommend getting two drinks at a time because bar service is super slow.

Not my most favorite bar in downtown Colorado Springs. I think my biggest complaint about this place is the music selection. I have been on a couple of Friday/​Saturday nights when you would think the DJ would be on his ‘A’ game, but no sir! They generally play an awkward mix of one-​hit wonders and crappy hip-​hop songs from 5 years ago. Drinking an overpriced beer listening to, «Deh-​Oh De-​e-​eh-​Oh. Daylight come and me don wan go home» is not my idea of a hip, downtown atmosphere.
–Actually, yes, yes I do «wan go home»… And I won’t be waiting until daylight either! Not at this place! The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of one is because the upstairs area isn’t too bad. But again, it all depends on the band that they have playing up there.
And ladies, beware! This is shark central! However, if you are looking for a quick self-​esteem boost, stroll on in!

Nothing to be said about the most mediocre bar on Tejon. I literally can’t say too many positive things about an Army bar that offers nothing special except for weekly haircuts on every man, boy or child. Just depends on the amount of alcohol they’ve had. Now I’m in the army as well. But I do not wish for my spouse to be grabbed, swarmed or hollered at every time she uses the restroom. That is why I steer clear of this place and instead head to Gasoline alley or Blondies.
