Joe Jack’s is a good place for dinner. The food is good quality, the service is above average and the ambiance is very comfortable, even romantic. My wife and I arrived for dinner around 7 pm and we asked to be seated on the terrace(dining area on the rooftop). The weather was changing with chances for rain forecast at 100%, but they have a movable awning to protect patrons from getting wet while dining. After a few minutes they did roll it out. This is a big plus when dining outdoors during PV’s rainy season. We ordered the garlic shrimp dish which turned out to be very nice. Lots of medium sized shrimp on a bed of Spanish rice and some cooked vegetables. Very healthy, fairly tasty and very filling too. Joe was our friendly server and he took care of all our needs the whole evening. All in all a very nice dinner experience. Tip: be careful when going up the stairs to the terrace. The last step is higher than all the others and if you’re not careful you could trip and make an unforgettable entrance into the dining area. — Cheers!

Lemme just start by saying their mojitos are off the charts amazing. Our first visit was just a boozy one. Sat at the bar and ordered creatively crafted mojitos. I had ginger and he had pineapple passion fruit. They’re probably always 2⁄1 because that’s what we always paid. It’s a cute little spot with a few tables downstairs and twice as many upstairs. A few days after our first visit, we decided to go back and have lunch. We chose to sit upstairs this time. They gave us cold washcloths which we kept on the backs of our necks the whole time. It was a blisteringly hot and grossly humid day. Very thankful for those cold towels! The menu is a lot of fun! It took us a lifetime to figure out what we wanted, but ultimately settled on fish and chips and crunchy fish tacos. To wash them down, I ordered a strawberry ginger mojito and he had passion fruit. Both delicious and perfect again. The food came out quickly. My tacos were abnormally large, cooked perfectly, and oh so tasty. His fish was undercooked but the fries were yummy. My tacos were too much for me so he helped finish them off. We never did tell them about his undercooked fish. Everything else was just so good. The service was phenomenal. This is a place we’ll definitely start frequenting!

My husband and went here to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We had a lovely upstairs patio table. One of the partners remembered our reservation and was very attentive to make it a great experience. The cocktails are creative and hand crafted, the appetizers and entrees divine. We will definitely return and/or recommend this spot.

After reading the reviews we decided to go and check this place out. We arrived at around 8 pm and was excited for the Red Snapper, sadly they were out of it so I decided to try the fish and chips and my wife got the wedge salad and my son got the macaroni and cheese the fish was very moist but a little greasy on the outside all in all it was good my son’s macaroni and cheese was amazing with broccoli and my wife’s wedge salad was amazing we sat by the front door and got hit with all the vendors which I guess was okay cuz we enjoyed giving to the community but it interrupted our meal the server was amazing he was very fluent in English and we had an enjoyable time if we were able to spend another day in Puerto Vallarta we would definitely go back it will be a place to visit when we come back

Excellent meal and wonderful service! This was such a quaint and beautiful little space, a nice change from the touristy spots — refreshing mocktails too! The shrimp and artichoke app is delightful and the mani was spot on — well done yum yum!

This place would be considered on the beaten path right downtown and seems to be well known. Priced higher than other places on most things. Yet we have no regrets coming here and hope to come back again. Service is excellent and food was well worth it. The shrimp, mahi mahi and steak were all well cooked and worth the visit. I regret not trying the whole snapper, seems to be popular here. I hope to do that next visit.

Comfortable rooftop terrace with comfortable service — attentive but not too much so. Delish ceviche sample and battered fish tacos(forget the grilled fish taco, get the battered one!). Generous portions. Good passion fruit margarita too!

The best restaurant in Los Muertos area. Food and drinks are top notch and all the staff are delightful. Whole snapper & beer battered fish/shrimp and chips are superb. Great salads. You can’t go wrong. We always eat there 3 – 4 times and are never disappointed.

My wife and I came upon Joe Jack’s the other day while walking in Old Town Puerto Vallarta… what an excellent find. We ordered the Fish and Chips and The Shrimp/Fish Combo. The fish and shrimp were both done to perfection, as was the light and crispy batter. Lots of other interesting items on the menu that should please any fish lover. The service, as well, was excellent. My wife has a nut allergy and they were very accommodating. We highly recommend Joe Jack’s Fish Shack to anyone that visits Puerto Vallarta… it is a «must go to» for all fish lovers.

We had an EXCELLENT meal here. Ordered the following: Mojitos — passion fruit was delicious Fried Brussel sprouts — Awesome. Our vegetable averse daughter devoured the plate. 4 ceviche platter — Excellent. The shrimp was our favorite. Mac & cheese — My son ordered w/o broccoli and loved it Fish & chips — My daughter loved it Fried baja fish tacos — One of my best meals in all of PV. The batter was SO crisp, have to love a great fryer. Octopus a la plancha — Very tasty. Butterscotch Budin — Highly recommend, but be warned, very sweet. Our only regret is that the servings are HUGE, a la Cheesecake Factory/Claim Jumper. We could’ve split the orders in half and still be full. Highly recommend this place.

The wedge salad with blue cheese is one of the best salads anywhere. Get the wedge salad. The full red snapper with butter and garlic was great but spendy for the area at $ 400 pesos. Not sure it was worth the extra price. Had similarly great snapper for $ 250 pesos at other places in the area.

If you walk by this place don’t be fooled by how small it looks as they have an upstairs. We walked by several times before we figured it out. Great bartender and Mojito happy hour — noon to 5pm daily. Food is very good. Try the Tuna sandwich and fish chowder. Both excellent. Most of the food is very good, a few misses but think you will like the place. Staff is very friendly, know the menu and is very helpful,

Neat little place with a patio upstairs, the style is a bit like the fifties. They had mojito 2for1, so we got a strawberry and a pineapple one, actually it was a mex-jito I think, it was made with tequila. It tasted really good, fresh and not so overly sweet like it often is. We also ordered the fish tacos just for a snack, these were the best fish tacos I ever had! So flavorful, juicy and just really good! The service was good, their English was good and they were always around and available! This place was recommended to me as a good place for sea food, I agree! It is a bit pricy though, but the food is worth it.

Best seafood we had in our 2 days in Puerto Vallarta. The bass ceviche was unputdownable, really. Excellent garlic shrimp as well. Best of all this place has the atmosphere of the sort of joint where Cold War spies from Le Carre’s book would meet. Full of verve on a Friday night. Definitely not to be missed if you’re in town.

Los fish & chips son buenos y de las hamburguesas ni hablamos, tienes que cortarlas en dos de lo grandes que son, simplemente deliciosas, el miércoles es de promo de hamburguesas.

I like the service here. During our visit, the owner was walking around making sure everyone was happy. The line-up was crazy long during Christmas/New Year and he did a great job checking in on line. Ambience upstairs is fun and romantic. I like the tuna poke and shrimp and chips the most. In past trips I’ve tried the octopus, burger, fish tacos, and all the ceviches. Great place if you want to play it safe. We always visit our first night in town.

Came here when on vacation with friends. Great place, our service Arnoldo was the best, he was hilarious and very helpful, even teaching us Spanish. I ordered the mahi mahi which came with vegetables and beans. The food came fast and let me tell you– from first bite you can taste how fresh it was! I enjoyed my meal very much and we all had a few margaritas– which made it even better Definitely will be coming here when I return to Mexico!

Really great atmosphere, food, and service! As an appetizer, we ordered all four of the ceviche to sample — my favorite was the tuna and the coconut and shrimp. I could have done without the other two(the bass and the shrimp/octopus). I ordered the 2 for 1 special pineapple mojito and my friend got a watermelon margarita… The mojito trumps the margarita. So fresh and delicious(plus I got one for free, Durh). For the main course we ordered the infamous whole fried red snapper… Soooo good! Our friendly waitor(Jay I think was his name) was awesome, deboned the fish for us, and also recommended some great tequila shots for us. We sat upstairs– very cool and it’s the slow season so we got to enjoy the whole upstairs by ourselves. Overall this is one of my favorite places to eat in PV so far and will definitely be returning.

I took the kids out of the resort and into historic Puerto Vallarta. What a great idea. I saw Joe Jack’s Fish Shack on Unilocal with good reviews and decided that’s the place. When we first walked up we were greeted by the friendliest staff, all eager to seat us and get a drink in our hand. You have an option of sitting down stairs or up stairs on the terrace. I suggest the terrace. You have a view of the street and a fantastic view of the sunset with all of it’s vibrant colors, off to the left. We ordered the sampler of the ceviche. Traditional with bass, shrimp in chile juices, shrimp and octopus, and Ahi poki. You can not go wrong with any of these. There were all delicious. My daughter liked the ahi poki the best. My fav was the shrimp in chile juice. It has a bite so I hope you like hot. Along with the ceviche we ordered a bucket of shrimp. Was nothing special, except the shrimp where perfect and fresh. Our main course consisted of the shrimp tacos for my daughter, a ½ pound hamburger for my land lover son, and I ordered the Mahi Mahi. The tacos were devoured with out hesitation. The monstrous burger put up a good fight. My son gave his compliments to the cook. And the Mahi Mahi was moist and tender laid over a bed of Spanish rice and beans. Quite tasty. We would definitely make this a regular spot when we come to PVR. I have seen some of my favorite restaurants disappear over the years. I think this one has what it takes to last for many years. Great job guys! Thanks again.
