What a quaint and beautiful little restaurant along the Malecon. We dined here for lunch through a local’s suggestion. I’m glad that we stopped because the food was fabulous as well as the service. We ordered chips and guacamole for starters, which were delicious. We also ordered fish tacos, calamari and margaritas. All were outstanding. This place seems to be less touristy in comparison to other restaurants along the Malecon, which is a great plus. This is a great place to kick back, get out of the heat, eat fabulous food and do some people watching.

This is one of the least touristy places on this stretch of the Malecon. It’s a nice open air restaurant near the water. We were looking for a decent place to sit down, have a drink, and get out of the sun. This place was exactly what we were looking for. They have great chips and guacamole!

As I continue to believe it is possible to have a less than stellar experience at even a favorite restaurant in PV — lack of consistency seems to be a theme. Sadly that was our experience for my going home dinner on Tuesday night. Both food and service were not up to snuff. Waiter had a difficult time getting our order right — maybe something lost in translation but the French fries we ordered to share with the table with our entrees showed up as an appetizer — by the time we were interested in them they were cold and soggy. An appetizer of calamari that was meant to be shared by two of us showed up long after our other diner’s gazpacho and wasn’t as good as in the past. The housemade bread basket(one thing that really separates Vitea from other PV restaurants) came with butter that was frozen solid. There was a very long pause until mains showed up and none of us cared for our selections. The usually outstanding shrimp tempura, at least on this occasion, had devolved into very mundane breaded shrimp, the«filet mignon» resembled a filet not at all and was drowned in an overpowering rosemary sauce, and my fish/shrimp combo plate was a hot mess — plate full of mushy fish floating in an ordinary white sauce over overcooked veggies with a few tiny shrimp around the edge of the plate. Very disappointing all around. If that were my first visit I’m not sure I’d go back but I’ll probably try them again next season. Didn’t see either owner around so maybe it was just a fluke.

This place is great, the ratings are accurate. I’d like it if we could give half ratings because they are more of a 4.5. Very please, service was amazing. I got the fish tacos which is something I rarely order after having the perfect ones years ago in Ensenada and being disappointed since so I gave up trying, well lesions learned, don’t give up. I loved my meal and will be back. The view of course is amazing but unlike other places with great views they don’t let that allow them to relax their standards. This is a must visit! Oh and my comment about the napkins was meant for all the places here, when you visit you’ll know what I mean.

Great atomsphere with outstanding wait staff service. This restaurant is across from the Malecon. We ordered their Chef’s Special —- Cauliflower soup with toasted sunflower seeds, watercress and green chill. Word one to describe the soup. Delicious! I had for my entrée the Seafood Pasta(Pasta Fettuccini Fruto di Mare) which consisted of shrimp, bay scallops, octopus, mussels, and calamari. It was tasty EXCEPT for the octopus overcooked which was rubbery. My partner had the Red Snappper entrée. one fish fillet was overcooked but his 2nd one was cooked just right. For our glass of white wine we ordered Sauvignon Blanc Albamar, from Chile. We didn’t go for dessert. This is an awesome restaurant if you’re in Puerto Vallarta close to the Malecon which is only 1 mile long.

I guess given PV’s options this meal was better than most i had here… For me, it didnt live up to the reviews here, i was expecting more. Honestly, there was only one dish i was interested in that didnt contain dairy(i am allergic). So i had the fish which was good, not great, but i would get it again under the right circumstances… But probably not on this 2 week trip.

During a 10 day trip I had the pleasure to visit Omar and his team at Vitea three times. I’d give each visit five stars! Whitefish filet with shrimp and mushrooms was my favorite and I recommend the chilaquiles for breakfast. Service was prompt, polite and professional. Vitea is also on The Malecon with fantastic ocean views, you can sit inside to get out of the heat, or enjoy the open air and eat outside. Sister restaurant of Trio three short blocks away on Calle Guerrero.

What a super cute bistro right on the Malecon! The covered patio is a great spot for people watching and makes for a lively atmosphere. You will probably be entertained by some street performers so be sure to have those pesos ready for tipping. I imagine breakfast here would be a delightful experience as well but we came for dinner. We ate here on our final night in Vallarta and the fresh and flavorful cuisine was a great way to cap off an amazing trip. The menu is quite varied and very interesting so it was really hard to choose. After having pigged out for the entire week, I wanted something that wasn’t going to leave me feeling overstuffed. I began with a nice, light arugula salad(with red wine poached pear, goat cheese, toasted hazelnuts) and I just couldn’t resist the fresh, local grilled red snapper filet for my entrée. Topped off with a couple of glasses of vino blanco while watching the action on the boardwalk, it was the perfect evening.

Vitea has been one of my most favorite Vallarta restaurants for years. I actually prefer the more casual ambience here to the stuffiness I feel at Trio. The food is equally as good if not better seeing as they also offer the absolute most delicious breakfasts and lunches as well. I seriously have never had anything here that I did not ABSOLUTELYLOVE. Great spot to have some of the best food ever as you watch the world pass you by on the Malecon, the boat tours passing by on the ocean, or quite possibly the best sunset you have ever seen!

a great breakfast on the beach! I ordered the chilaquiles which were SUPER tasty. Not cheap for the area, but still very reasonably priced for a gringo like me. I had a pastry, a coffee and my chilaquiles all for us$ 10.
