Great local seafood restaurant. The service was true to their name, I felt like one of the family. Next time you are in Puerto Vallarta step off the Melecon and stop in for delicious fresh seafood at Una Familia.

Great location, homey family atmosphere. Food menu is basic but that also comes with being very affordable. A breakfast plus drink free toast and jam for $ 80 pesos including 20% tip. Will go back for sure.

I came here with some friends because it was highly rated on another website. I’m sorry to say that I was disappointed. We were served by the owner Edwin and although he’s a nice guy, he was a little too pushy on the food. I tried to order the lobster but it was not available because it was sold out. That’s fine and so I ordered the shrimp. He said that he had another great shrimp dish with bacon, etc. He really pushed the dish so I agreed. Unfortunately, it was terrible and inedible. The bacon was fine(I am ok with bacon but I don’t love it the way most people love bacon) but the sauce was so overly done and salty and the shrimp was so over-friend that I ate a piece and couldn’t eat any more. Another guy at our table had a similar experience when he tried to order a dish and Edwin kept saying«you can order that anywhere… how about if you eat(dish) that you can’t get anywhere in Mexico but here» but it actually didn’t sound so good so my friend eventually changed his order to simply get beef fajitas which were ok. There was also another older American woman who seemed to be a hostess or manager or someone like that. I called and made a reservation and I believe she may have picked up the phone. She didn’t seem all that friendly(Edwin and the rest of the staff was much more friendly). I really wanted to like this place but sadly, it disappointed.

Great food for a very reasonable price. We had the Octopus Anjillo, Shrimp Cardinal and Shrimp Tamarind… all of which were excellent. The atmosphere is quite simple. David(the owner’s son) was our host this evening and he did an excellent job of describing the dishes. Very much enjoyed it.

We had the best dinner of our vacation here! Truly awesome food(and margaritas!) — if you are a foodie, you will appreciate this cuisine!

Had breakfast at Una Familia four times while in Vallarta. Great food and a great bargain… chorizo and cheese omelette with potatoes, beans and a cup of coffee for 45 pesos, that’s $ 3 U.S. Una Familia is a short walk from the Malecon. Food was always tasty!

We ordered flank steak but they only had fajitas. Meat was tough but rice and beans were good. Service not bad but not great. Prices okay. When we left our clothes smelled like the cooking oil. Probably won’t go back.

We were greeted by a young enthusiastic gentleman who was the server, maitre d, bartender, and possibly, sous chef. The menu was exciting and Edwin very passionate in his descriptions Excellent cocktails were served and our apps were tasty and fresh. And that was where everything went downhill. Despite the fact that there were a total of 7 patrons in the restaurant, our 3 plus a table of 4, there seemed to be a problem in the kitchen. The special entrée was the only one that was well prepared. The whole fish was dry and the promised side sauce never served. The octopus platter was not hot and the preparation nothing special. Edwin had truly oversold his food and then explained the inadequacies by informing us that it was the chef’s day off and we were dining on the preparations of a former dish washer! The complimentary dessert was hot but the entrée not. Once Edwin spends more time with his chef he may be able to deliver some wonderful fare. This new establishment could be a diamond in the rough.

Love this place! Wow, what a gem in downtown PV! As soon as we tasted the salsa, we knew it was going to be good! The passion and heart put into building this restaurant shines in everything they do. Everything made from scratch and made to order! Best guacamole I’ve had yet. Everything we saw and everyone we talked to loved their food and service! Fantastic house margarita too! You literally won’t believe the prices!!! We are coming for breakfast tomorrow!!! Update: Back for breakfast… the best chilequiles verde ever. And only 35 pesos. Delicious!
