From the moment you walk into Fredy’s Tucan you feel the friendly environment. As soon as we were seated our server Pancho welcomed us and took our drink order. When it came time to order he was very helpful, patient, and always with a smile. He helped me customize my pancakes to my complete satisfaction! I ordered a Mexican Omelette, good flavors. My boyfriend ordered Desayuno Camasino, he said the meat was delicious and cooked perfectly. Overall it was a very satisfying visit. Defiantly recommend it!

This was not my first choice for breakfast in Puerto Vallarta. We were referred here after finding out that my first choice had permanently closed. I love breakfast… specially here! It’s breakfast on steroids with so many choices that we over ordered to taste everything, including the basket of pastries that they bring around while you’re waiting for your drinks and food. We started with their strawberry and pecan crêpe with various smoothies and espresso drinks. All were delicious! The pastries were a pleasant surprise in between our«appetizer breakfast» and the main course. For the main course we all shared the Belgium waffle, pancakes, Mexican egg burrito, and the Campesino Breakfast. All of it was heaven. They are large portions. We weren’t able to finish everything but man was it delicious. I’ve never had Angus for breakfast, but –let me tell you– this is definitely something that I will continue to add to my breakfasts. I highly recommend this restaurant to any traveler. You may wait but it’s definitely worth it!

This was my first time in PV, and I was craving a good brunch. My hotel was a few blocks away from this place so I decided to stop by here. The manager is super awesome and greets you when you arrive. I sat by the bar and had the Grand Slam breakfast. The staff was super attentive and friendly. Even though the place was somewhat busy, they never missed a step in giving amazing service. The food was delicious and I can understand why this place is so popular. I will be back next time i visit PVR!

Favorite place to eat in PV for brunch. This place makes fresh orange juice that the pancakes taste to good and will get you full. The servers are very nice and the menus are in English and Spanish so no worries about translation. They only accept cash pesos or dollars so make sure you bring it with you. The lines can be long if you don’t get there early so if you don’t party late then you should be able to get up early for brunch. They also have complimentary coffee for those waiting in line and valet parking.

I wish I felt more like pigging out, but instead I behaved and had the grilled chicken salad. This place is definitely made for breakfast foods– pancakes, french toast, etc. Don’t be like me and order lunch. I need to fly back to Mexico to try their pancakes, they looked incredible.

I have visited PV several times over 20 years and this place never disappoints. The manager is on top of his game every single day! There is a line outside but I have never waited more than ten minutes to be seated, even during Semana Santa when the town is bustling with Mexican tourists and gringo spring breakers alike. Once seated, you’re offered coffee or perhaps a cappuccino or espresso to start your day? Mimosa or Bloody Mary? How about a fresh fruit smoothie or the most incredible fresh squeezed juice you can imagine? We tried them all! The basket of sweet rolls offered is new and very welcomed– a nice nibble while drinking your coffee. So is the free wifi– catch up on your email! But the main reason to go to Fredy’s Tucan is for the incredible omelettes, egg dishes, and Mexican specialties. My favorite is he omelette ala Mexicana– eggs with onions, peppers and delicious cheese topped with a very thin coating of the ranchera sauce– not swimming in a pool of it. Perfect! My husband liked the omelette with chorizo and cheese which was also delicious and not at all greasy as chorizo can be. Both dishes came with refried beans(the best I’ve had!)and fresh tortillas. A basket of toast and jam is also offered at no cost. The waffles and French toast were also appreciated, though I prefer the protein– rich breakfast while in tropical climates. It should be said that the hospitality in PV is always exceptional, but the staff at Fredy’s Tucan is truly remarkable. The manager(owner?) is very pleasant and welcoming and has the staff trained to hustle and await your next desire. I wish there was a Fredy’s Tucan here in Portland!

OMG this breakfast started off with coffee and as soon as i sat down a server arrived with a huge basket of freshly made warm pastries. Not to be rude i chose a blueberry/sweet cheese melt in my mouth, buttery soft muffin type yummie. Followed by a chorizo mexican omelet. No wonder it was voted #1 breakfast spot in PV

This restaurant is perhaps one of the most popular places to grab breakfast in all of downtown Puerto Vallarta. It’s definitely a tourist spot for brunch as you can start to see lines for this place in the late morning. They kind of open whenever they want, usually around 7 or 8. They serve breakfast and lunch until 2:30 every day. Their menu is broken down to omelet options, griddle, crepes, and lots of favorite Mexican dishes. They also serve a large variety of drinks including espressos, juices, and stuff from the bar. Luckily I ended up trying this place out before the rush, so I was able to be seated right away. The dining area isn’t the largest but they seem to have enough tables for larger parties. The inside of this place was relatively clean and had comfortable seating. The service was excellent as my server was very friendly and knew English very well. Their water in the restaurant is filtered like you’d expect, so no bottled water required. I was served some of their standard coffee when I first sat down; it was watered down weak stuff not very good. Before bringing out my order though, they served up a nice basket of sweet bread( ) with some nice preserves and butter. The bread was soft, fresh and lightly toasted on top. I didn’t eat too much of it though, because I had ordered some pancakes as for my entrée. The waffle and pancakes share the same menu, you can order regular or choose from their many specialty options. Most of their options include lots of fruity toppings as well as sweeter stuff like chocolate. For a whole whopping ten pesos, they’ll even get healthier for you by making them from a whole wheat batter. My Tucan Gran Slam breakfast( ) for 78 pesos came with two hotcakes, two eggs and two slices of bacon. I paid the extra 16 pesos for the Juanita Banana ones. The pancakes themselves were very thick, not very fluffy and only subtly sweet. While they were a bit undercooked, the batter was still very tasty. They topped them with tons of whipped cream, little bits of pecans and some fresh banana slices. The pancakes were good, just wish they hadn’t made them so thick, they would have cooked better. The eggs were pretty standard scrambled but they did accompany them with some great tasting salsas( ) that they brought to the table. The bacon here was cooked well and tasted alright. The meal at Freddy’s was very enjoyable with good tasting food, clean dining area, great pricing and excellent service. I don’t think the food was anything to wait in a huge line for, but it was better than your average American diner or greasy spoon breakfast place you’d find back in the states. The prices here were pretty good as well, just as cheap as Denny’s. If you happen to wake up early and can beat the crowd here, it’s a good spot for some breakfast. Also remember this is Mexico, most places don’t take cards, I was surprised since this place was so touristy that they only take CASH. So bring some with you.

Sometimes you go into a restaurant with unrealistic expectations of mind-blowing taste(this of course is amplified when you hear it is the best brunch in town) and don’t get exactly what you were hoping for. Sometimes, this is not such a bad thing. My wife and I split the Desayuno Campesino and the Vallarta waffles. While my steak was tasty and her waffles the same, I just wasn’t as impressed as I thought I would be. With that said, I would absolutely come back. The waiter was hilarious and attentive. The décor was festive, all of the funkiness of a tourist restaurant without any of the hassle. Plus, I think my taste buds were just having an off day.

A beautiful Mexican lunch!!! Fredy Tucan’s has THEBEST salsa and tortilla chips I have ever had!!! Our group of four went through the first batch and then requested more. I finished off the salsa on the second round. Normally I am ambivalent the about salsa and chips. They have amazing juices. I chose a personal combination of orange, pineapple and watermelon — perfection. Others ordered different juice combos and various dishes and everyone one was very happy! The portions were generous and a great value.

Fredy Tucan’s is a great place to go for breakfast and brunch in Puerto Vallarta. The restaurant caters to both Mexican and American dishes. During the weekends lines are long and wait time can vary between 10 to 30 minutes. While you wait you can visit the bakery across the street, sit on the benches in front of the restaurant or directly across the street. They have a speaker system so you will be able to hear the announcer call your name. This restaurant is frequented by tourists and locals! The staff is friendly and fast and many speak English. After your done with breakfast, walk off your meal by visiting the local art galleries located around the area.

I ate here five times last week. What I really like about the food is the service and the food. There’s always a long wait, but the owner is so friendly and makes you feel right at home and welcomed as a guest. There’s free coffee(not as good as the paid coffee you get sitting down) and cucumber water while you wait. I love the breakfast dish with the Mexican cheese, scrambled eggs, pork, and beans in sauce. Just so good. The meat and cheese omelette was very good. The blueberry waffle is delicious as well. Just an FYI — no matter how well-cooked I ask for my eggs(medium or hard) it turns out more runny than I’m accustomed to back home. If you like a hard egg, maybe ask for fried? In any case, the hospitality here shines.

A must for breakfast in old town Puerto Vallarta. The Chilaquiles with green sauce and eggs is a meal I could eat everyday for the rest of my silly little life. The perfect combo of crunchy, tangy, and cheesy. The best example of Chilaquiles I’ve experienced. The juice and coffee are real good. A word about the bread that come out first; it’s great. But be careful not to fill up on it. Your entrée will be way more delicious. You will kick yourself for not finishing it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are very busy, because this place is extremely popular. Wait times can be up to an hour. If there’s just two of you, make sure and let them know you’ll be happy to sit at the bar. Then keep an eye out for seats. We’ve been able to skip a half hour line because of our willingness to sit at the bar. As with most things, the location is ideal if you’re staying in old town. Even if not, a taxi ride isn’t bad. You could do a lot worse than making this a regular breakfast destination during your stay.

I went to Mexico with a few places bookmarked to visit. This wasn’t one of them… But I was shocked to find this was amazingly good! I had the poblano omelet, a green juice and a queso pastry. The pastry was offered to me from a basket with other oven fresh goodies. This was by far the best pastry I have ever had in Mexico! It was sweet, gooey with a crumbly crust. The juice was larger for the price and fresh! My favorite whenever I go, but this was clearly freshly made when I ordered. The omelet was perfect. Not to sweet with the poblano peppers and cheese and with a secondary flavor of spice. I’m impressed with the service, cleanliness and quality of food. I’ll visit next year!

Fast service. Friendly service. Good coffee.(Not coffee shop quality ala Starbucks but a decent strength brew that was good). I don’t want to give them 5 stars. I ordered breakfast, but they are so fast and friendly it is hard for me to say aha… The brunch steak was tasty. They provided hot peppers, hot sauce, and salsa with it. And the price, 148 pesos. That 8 or 9 bucks.

This place has the best chilaquiles con pollo y huevo I have ever had… I was able to choose both red and green sauces along with some coffee. The toast they provide is so good and perfectly toasted! I could have just the toast for breakfast with some butter and jam and be happy. The wait can be a bit long, but its worth it.
