Tofu spring rolls are my favorite! Pretty good selection of lunch offerings — sandwiches, salads, spring rolls, etc. Cost is pretty reasonable also.

My co-workers and I stumbled upon this restaurant when we were just wandering around North Beach, and the teriyaki special brought us in. I ordered the teriyaki plate that consisted of steamed rice, teriyaki chicken, and some steamed vegetables. For the price I paid for my food, I would say the meal I ordered was satisfactory. The meat was a little bit dry, though, that was my primary concern. The vegetables were bland as well. You can get some water on the side but it was warm… After eating, I was a bit confused because I’m used to putting away my dishes. Apparently, here, you just leave it on the table and they just clean it up for you.

I used to love going here, but the past few times I’ve been I’ve noticed a real decline in customer service and quality of the food– or maybe I had just been getting lucky before. The lettuce in my salad has been half rotten three out of the last four times, and when I tried to speak with the cashier about it he was quite rude and dismissive to me, which was really surprising. It’s no longer worth it to me to go there. Also, I’ve always liked the tuna salad, but all the sandwiches are really quite bland.

Safety alert! I got some shrimp spring rolls from this place the other day… and ended up at ER12 hours later because of food poisoning… Never again.

I just started a job around the block and needed a coffee fix; to Unilocal I went and decided to try a non-chain coffee shop. I purchased a chicken burrito, peanut butter cookie and a plain ol’ drip coffee. The chicken burrito… small for the price(as others have said) and full of filler. I questioned it being chicken but upon my 2nd to last bite i did discover a ¼″ x ¼″ piece of chicken. It’s all dry filler of rice and beans. The salsa was Pace Picante(so it tasted like at least). The cookie was old and hard; not the soft deliciousness that was made today. Least the center of the cookie was soft. Again, it was just ok. I would not come back for the food. Now for the coffee… it was decent. I didn’t get the sour after taste and was decent. I did ask for room for cream, but they had none out at any of the tables or at the counter. Suppose it’s good I just like it black. I will be back for coffee, sans food. Maybe the other coffee choices will be on par with today’s or better.

Today the coffee was good– my latte was hot, bold, and flavorful. However, the muffin and donut we ordered were both a day old! Ugh. Today is Tuesday– maybe the pastries are only fresh in Mondays(?)

This is a cute little café that probably has the most reasonable prices for their food regardless of being in the embarcadero area. It’s really convenient for me since I work about 3 blocks away. There will usually be a line around lunch time, but never have I waited for more than 10 minutes. The staff here is always friendly too. They have everything from sandwiches, salads, pasta, spring rolls, lasagna, fruit salad, coffee, tea, donuts, bagels and more. If you’re using a card, the minimum is 5 dollars. This place is worth exploring.

Teriyaki roastery. As steaming hot as a cup of coffee. As pick-me up as a shot of espresso. Only here is comes as a generous plate of teriyaki topped plate of grilled white meat chicken and steamed veggies. Both the price($ 4.99) and the taste(fresh, healthy and delicious) exceeded expectations. No doubt the coffee is good too. But perhaps not as good as the teriyaki.

Better prices than Starbucks, near location ad atmosphere, and the lattes are well made. Pecan cocunut cookies are delicious!

So I had to write a review because I think this place is underrated. It’s the perfect lunch spot in my mind. A giant sandwich on yummy baguette or focaccia bread for only $ 7.50? Yes, please. Especially because I often have some leftover for a late afternoon snack. And you can get a half sandwich for around $ 4, which if you arent as big of a pig as I am, can totally qualify for a full lunch meal on the cheap. I also like to do the half sandwich and side salad deal. Plus the sandwiches and salads are already made so I don’t have to wait and waste time on my lunch break which is awesome. I think they will also make some items upon order if that is your style.(Although dont quote me on that, there is a lot to the menu I still need to try.) And the staff has always been extremely polite, which one would hope is a given, but these days cant always be counted on! P. S. they have really big yummy cookies, too!

6am double espresso is a life saver when I’m in the city. Add an egg sandwich and I’m good to go for the day!

I don’t think I’ve actually ever tried the coffee here, but I’ve had the spring rolls which are unexpectedly AWESOME. I was kind of upset that I didn’t discover this place towards the tail end of my stay in SF because this place was very close to my workplace, and spring rolls are one of my favorite foods! I believe they have quite a few different types of spring rolls: shrimp, chicken, and maybe tofu? I only tried the shrimp but it was very good, and a pretty good deal!

Breakfast Burrito review only: Really disappointing breakfast burrito. Tortilla was weird. Undersized for price. Overall, flavorless and very dry. More potato than anything. Would not eat again.

I don’t really buy much here besides coffee so I suppose I can’t speak to the full range of stuff they sell. I’ve had a couple of their salads and their lasagna and like others said, it’s totally acceptable and a pretty good price. This area does not have a lot of options and this works out just fine for a lot of people. However, I’m really surprised to see people’s complaints about the service! I’ve never had anything but great service there– and in fact, the reason I even bothered coming here to review the place is because once again today, the guy who works the counter impressed me with this service. He’s always been friendly and chipper and I literally am always duly impressed! He may not always push for a long conversation, but guess what? I don’t always want one either, I’m always on my way to work! But seriously I think he’s due more credit than he’s getting here, and I personally really appreciate his service!

There are limited choices nearby my workplace and I’ve tried everyplace nearby already. Funny, how I’ve never thought of coming here since my workplace is just directly across from them. I’ve had their coffees before and it’s awesome, but never thought trying their food. I’ve just discovered the croissant breakfast sandwich(ham, egg and cheese). It’s so good and only $ 3.25. That’s cheaper than my Starbucks coffee. Amazing deal. The Chicken Caesar salad is good, too. Nothing fancy, but the price is right.

This place is close to my work and I love it for morning and lunch. They have great teas, coffee drinks and smoothies. Although they are very tempting, I have managed to stay away from the doughnuts and pastries, but they look delicious. For lunch, I typicaly get a salad with eggplant and shrimp. However, they have a big selection of soup, sandwiches and daily specials. They also have a combo of half soup or salad and sandwich which is a great deal. The wait can be a while, since there are typically only two people working, so I recommend going before the rush. If you go after the lunchtime rush, they may be out of some items.

If you need lunch in the area, this place is solid. Not blow you away fantastic, but definitely an A-OK lunch. Their sandwiches are pretty tasty. I like the Tuna best. Their soup and chili aren’t so good, but the salads are ok. The real reason I come here are for their spring rolls. Four large shrimp spring rolls for about $ 7, they’re so filling and tasty. I tried their coffee once and wasn’t impressed. Plus, they have indoor seating, which is nice on some chilly or rainy days. Environment: nothing special. Indoor seating, no windows, somewhat chilly. Service: Not especially friendly — sometimes the guy at the cash register is talkative, but sometimes he’s pretty abrupt. Relatively quick though.

+ yummy sandwiches, ESP if you get them toasted. I’ve tried the roast beef and turkey sandwiches + can get ½ a sandwich for $ 3.50(which is actually ½ the price of a full sandwich) They’ve also got soups and salads here, but I’ve only tried the sandwiches. The staff is pretty nice. I accidentally got charged for a full sandwich, even though I only got ½ a sandwich. I called in and asked if I could get my other half the next day… the guy who answered said«sure» and then promptly hung on me. The next day, when I went in, I told the cashier(who was also the guy who 1 — made the mistake the previous day and 2 — answered the phone) that I was supposed to get my other half for free(since I did technically pay for it), he said, «oh okay» and handed me my sandwich. I’m glad it all got sorted out, but I think I should have received an apologized for the inconvenience or mistake. However, overall, I like the place since they toast their sandwiches and cheap price.

I love their tuna sandwiches. You can get a full sandwich for 6 dollars, eat one half for lunch and one for dinner. Best DeAL EVER! ps. they also have donuts.
