Pull up directly in front of the store at 9:27, get out of my car, guy inside looks at me and pulls the string to turn the open sign light off. They close at 10:00. I don’t care how wonderful their tacos are, won’t spend another dime in that establishment.

We really enjoy the breakfast burritos, to go, cut in half and enjoyed two days in a row. We call up and they are ready when we get there.

The big issue with this location is that the food is rarely served hot. Most Mexican restaurants serve very hot food on hot plates. We are usually served on plastic plates, and 9 times out of 10, our food arrives lukewarm at best. We’ve even asked when ordering to make sure the food is served hot, but asking doesn’t seem to make a difference. This location, unlike the Broad Street location, charges for chips and salsa. The other complaint we have is that the nachos are served with a bland cheese sauce, not real cheese.

After traveling and not eating all day, I came across Taco Roco which was the only place still open. I ordered CHEESE. enchiladas to-go, with a side of sour cream. Much to my dismay, when I opened my meal, after I’d already gotten back on the road, they’d forgot the sour cream completely and gave me CHICKEN enchiladas. I essentially paid $ 12 to throw out the enchiladas and only eat rice and beans.

Mixed reviews. We usually visit the Broad St location because we prefer the food there. The enchiladas are not as good here, dry and flavorless. Salsa is good but salsa bar is lacking in items. Nachos had too many jalapeños on it. The place is clean and food is actually decent especially for the price. Try it once and see for your own taste. We will continue to go to the Broad St location. There is patio seating in front and back. My tip is if you see a line, call your order in then get in line to pay. If you do it that way you can snag a table.

Excellent Carnitas Burritos on a Sunday Afternoon coming home from Cambria, CA. Worth the stop! Everything is fresh!

I have to say I was doubtful about this place when I walked in but I was super pleased by everything I had! The chips were fresh and delicious, the guac was wonderful, and my al pastor was delicious! The tacos looked amazing and my mom said they were! Next time I make a trip to SLO I will be for sure coming here!

I asked to get the beans and rice that would normally go inside the burrito, on the side. I was told that it would cost $ 3 to do that. I said, «It will cost $ 3 to take the rice and beans that were going inside my burrito and put them on the side!!! That doesn’t make any sense.» The server told me that her boss has a «strict policy» against that(I eat Mexican food every week from Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz as I travel for work and I make this request every time. Nobody has ever said something so stupid when I’ve made that request). My family eats here about once a week(without me). We will never go back to this place with so many other great Mexican Food options in San Luis Obispo.(The server I was talking with and ALL of the girls that work the counter have always been super nice every time I’ve been in there. Especially to my 4 year old daughter. The owner on the other hand, not cool).

I have been coming to SLO for business for a couple of years and finally found this gem. As a native Arizonan it can be a challenge to find good Mexican food when o am out of town. Taco Raco is great! Super friendly staff who recommended the burrito special it was great. Enough food for two, but so good there were no left overs. The carnitas were tender and flavorful, the chips and salsa were delicious all three sauces were great. Value priced lots of delicious food definitely will be back!

Great Food, but the portions are really really small. Also, I could go broke if I ate there 2 days a week. Sorry, but it’s really not worth the money. ;(

I love their breakfast burritos. They’re pretty good with letting you add stuff to burritos, which is a major plus. I call in at least once a week. Unfortunately the rice isn’t veggie friendly. But I highly recommend this place, the staff is pretty friendly and they’re pretty fast with the exception of taco Tuesday. I recommend their burritos. My roommate loves the alambre tacos it’s a taco with like 4 types of meat, as well as the molecajete(idk how to spell it) plate.

Love that chili verde burrito! It’s a beast! We stopped in for lunch as we were looking for a quick serve taco shop in SLO, and Taco Roco fit the bill. Good food, good service. I got a great chili verde burrito and my wife got a combo plate with rolled tacos and such. Note to SoCal ppl: Their burritos are served northern California style, with rice and beans inside, as well as the meat. I know. But once you get over that, it’s good.

I think Taco Roco has the best steak burrito in SLO so I do not need convincing to head that way. A few weeks ago I went with a friend for a lunch. Great service. My friend loved the food too, so now I know it’s not just me. Yum!

I was hungry and looking for a place to eat and this place is in a great location right in Los Osos. I was looking over the menu and I asked the owner what was good. he said everything… and i believed him. He suggested i try the enchilada special and I did. After ordering and paying i was given a bowl for chips, and loaded up on chips and salsa at the salsa bar. The salsas were good, i liked the red hot salsa, but he others were also tasty. The enchiladas were served with a dark sauce that was quite good, and served with rice and beans which were ok. This restaurant sits in a group of a few other restaurants and I took a seat on the patio which was fairly quiet and had some shade. It was almost the perfect day to sit out on the patio and have a meal. Overall this places is worth checking out. I wouldn’t have found this place if it wasn’t for Unilocal… good call Unilocal on suggesting this place!

Had a craving for tacos while on vacation in San Luis Obispo. I searched on Unilocal for taquerias nearby and saw that Taco Roco was really close. It was exactly what I was hoping for.. .a small locally run taco place with inexpensive tacos. Just my luck that it happened to be «Taco Tuesday» too! Got a couple of carnitas tacos and a couple of al pastor tacos just like I would have at home. They were pretty good(but not great) and they were big too.. .and reasonable at the special Taco Tuesday price of 99 cents. The place was crowded so, obviously, lots of other people liked it there too. Anyway, thanks to my Unilocal mobile app, I easily found exactly what I wanted.

Man… where to start. First, they got my order completely wrong, yet still overcharged me anyway, without offering a refund. They didn’t even offer what I originally wanted. Basically, their actions said, «deal with what we gave you even though it was our mistake.» A side note, I’ve never been charged for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant before ever, until I came here. We asked for two cups — wife wanted horchata. We reported that their horchata is a redish/pinkish color. Perhaps the soft drink next to it got mixed in somehow.(?) Even then, there was no offer for refund of drinks or anything. Once I got what i didn’t ask for after 20 minutes of waiting, I quickly noticed the food tasted a bit funky… mediocre. In fact, my wife, who loves Mexican food, wanted to trade because her food was drenched in oil. I had to get napkins and use them to soak in all the oil — it was pretty disturbing. So, once I left, I didn’t ask to talk to the manager. I didn’t complain. I was only hoping for a «We’re so sorry… here’s a note for the next time you can. You’re meal with be ___% off.» You know, businesses do that to try to redeem themselves if they care, but they didn’t do anything. We walked out, still hungry, unsatisfied and a bit grossed out.

I have developed somewhat of a fascination with chips and salsa since I moved into this country, every time I check out a new Mexican place, there is always expectation and excitement, I am always in the search for the perfect salsa, which I haven’t found yet. Will have to keep trying. I am also a quesadilla junkie and theirs was great, right size for me(on the small end) but very good taste; it seemed greasier than normal. They have the go-to beers that I like to pair up with Mexican food, but I was disappointed the kid at the front didn’t speak Spanish: S
