I recently moved to the area and finally decided to give this place a try. It has now become our Sunday morning place. The food is great and reasonably priced. My fav is the cheese enchiladas. The staff is friendly.

Tried to get here for breakfast but it ended at 11. Looked like they had some good specials. Decided on the Plato mexcano. For 6.99 you got a really big plate. The place was busy which shows they have good inexpensive food. I’ll be back but this time before breakfast ends… lol.

Mini tacos (pastor for me) are utterly amazing. The caldo is the most perfect comfort food, especially if it’s cold outside or you are under the weather. And the chicken fajitas are great! Service is quick and friendly. One of my favorites!

Have been here twice… First time was okay, second time was AWFUL! I had shrimp fajitas that were literally not edible. I think they must have used pre-​cooked, frozen, and possibly freezer-​burned shrimp… And re-​cooked the shrimp into tough, chewy pieces. It literally wasn’t even worth eating or taking home. In hindsight, I should have requested a replacement dish. The «grilled» cactus is not fresh… It’s the pickled cactus strips that you can find in a jar at Walmart. The beans and rice were okay.

After a night of drinking we came here for some authentic Mexican food. It was Halloween weekend so all the staff was dressed up for Dia De Los Muertos — it was awesome!
We ordered the breakfast burrito and two breakfast tacos — one was machaca and the other was papas rancheras. The breakfast burrito was pretty small compared to the tacos and more pricey, so I would definitely recommend sticking to tacos from a value perspective. The tacos were also amazing! The papas rancheras was great — I loved the sauce. The machaca was really good too, flavorful and the beef wasn’t too dry. Their green salsa on top made it nice and spicy too!
All in all this place was great and served some pretty authentic Mexican food. Definitely will come back whether it be for a hangover cure or just because :)

This place has excellent food, and service. I ordered the 3 ground beef tacos with rice and beans. Had to try everyone’s food and everything tasted wonderful. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know.

So I am from MS and you would think, «Oh, I am in San Antonio, I should eat Mexican!» Well try finding a good Mexican restaurant. Yes they are everywhere, but it’s just a lot of bad Mexican with HORRIBLE salsa. The salsa was just, OK here but the rest of it was the first place that was decent Mexican and great prices! The Lava Rock Bowl is a MUST for two people! The only reason it is not 5 stars is the atmosphere is kind of eh and they don’t serve margaritas. However, when you walk into a place and it is a bunch of everyday locals in there, it’s probably pretty good :)

Eating here is almost a religion and mandatory because the get the small things right. Is this the perfect spot? No, but they are consistenly good, cheap, high quality and the staff makes you feel invited and whether its their table or not you feel like family here if you come hete often like I do. Its feels your mom or grandma back there cooking for you your favorite breakfast ir menudo on weekends. Ive tried about 80% of this menu and its top notch. So much so this cook was taken from here to open a new restaurant down the road but the quality didn’t skip a beat here. One word of warning. The morning and lunch crew is best. Trust me. There is a reason the place isnt packed after that. Its not quite the same.

I am personally a chaser of taco shops. This one was alright. I have had better. The tortilla was awesome, fresh and tasty, but too large for the amount of meat in it. I had to peel off quite a bit of it. The food was fast and the meat and peppers were pretty tasty not to forget the chips that come with your salsa which were awesome, thick and also fresh. Good place to stop by! Although the woman’s toilet is missing a seat so Get ready to hover.

My husband and I tried this place today for breakfast. We always see a lot of cars in the parking lot when we drive by so we figured it must be worth trying. We both tried the steak plate, mine with scrambled eggs and his with over medium eggs. Every bit of it was delicious along with great service. We’ll have to try the lunch and dinner plates next.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU GO TO TAPATIO DE JALISCO MEXICAN RESTAURANT– MAKE SURE YOU GET A BREAK DOWN OF YOUR RECEIPT– WE were there tonight November 16th at 8PM and were over charged by $ 10 — when we asked the lady to void it out and ring it up again she said she could not do that– when we asked for a manager she said she was the manager so we demanded the money back — we literally added the food items and the tax ourselves right in front of her five different times to prove to her that she over charged us – THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE and I hate to say it but odds are they are overcharging a lot of folks that just dont take the time to get the breakdown of their orders and the cost… PAY ATTENTION– I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE AGAIN! SHE FINALLY GAVE US BACK THE DIFFERENCE SHE OVERCHARGED US AND THEN TRIED TO BLAME THE REGISTER — -NO MAM, IT WAS YOU! I AM NEVER GNG BACK THERE AGAIN!

Decided to try this place after looking for authentic, local Mexican. I ended up trying the menudo and torta after seeing past customers on Unilocal selecting these offerings. The menudo was fantastic. Absolutely flavorful and nourishing. I also had a carnitas torta, which was solid. The service was good, I had a friendly waitress who made sure everything with the meal was okay. The complimentary chips and salsa were tasty too. Definitely an awesome little local spot to grab some authentic Mexican

The food was okay, I got the mini tacos with Asada and my boyfriend got the carne Asada plate. In the picture of the mini tacos, it showed that it had grilled onions but when the plate arrived it had just chopped onions and cilantro. And with the carne Asada plate, the meat was a little tough, but the meat on both plates had some decent flavor. The plates were also pretty chipped, and my coke tasted like it had Big Red in it. For the price, it wasn’t too bad but it I left a little disappointed.

When I think about good tacos this is what comes to mind. I had the pork leg, carne asada, el pastor and carnitas tacos over two separate visits. I ordered three tacos with a side of two enchiladas thinking that may be enough, I was hungry and had just traveled from LA. While there i really enjoyed the street taco scene which is why I was so excited to try out this small taco shack. When the food arrived I knew why the waitress gave me an odd look when I added the enchiladas. The tacos were HUGE, after all it is Texas, not LA. I could only eat half of each and didn’t touch the enchiladas. The waitress smirked a little when I asked for a box. I was smart the next time I visited and kept it to two tacos. Needless to say everything was just as good the second time around. I even recommended the place to someone at the hotel bar.
