El Rodeo Seafood and Taqueria

It’s been a few years since I was last here, and they’ve made some improvements to the building and expanded the menu. Food is still great and the prices are low. Lunch specials change, but today I had the parrillas for $ 6.99 included tea. There was enough food for two. On the cheap end they had cheese enchiladas for $ 4.99
Give them a try, great dive for mexican food.

This place is amazingggg!
They don’t speak excellent English, but learn Gracias and you’ll be fine. Nearly everything here is numbered so ordering lunch won’t cause any language barriers.
I received chips and salsa before I even knew what I wanted to drink. The salsa was great too. Fresh chopped, a little spicy and delicious. Chips are clearly made in house, served warm just the way I like it.
If you’d like to get a great meal for under ten bucks order the grilled steak plate. Plato Parrilla. It was amazing. Get a side of their homemade guac & some even better homemade flour tortillas and go to town. Honestly I did not order this, my husband did, and I had FOMO the whole time while I ate my less superior flautas. Flautas were perfectly crispy, don’t get me wrong. But I wish I had never tasted his grilled steak because my lunch was nothing in comparison to suprisingly perfect $ 8 taqueria steak.
Salsa, guac, chips, tortillas — all house made. Sweet abuelita server. Two people full and happy for less than $ 20.

el rodeo is always amazing. Top notch food, excellent fajitas and enchiladas. They usually have enchiladas on special for around 4 – 5 bucks for the plate. Chips and salsa are delicious.

So the chips and salsa were not that great but the fajitas omg the fajitas are amazing. We ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas and it was made for two but we ended up with tons of leftovers for that night.
The steak was seasoned to perfection and was about as authentic Mexican as you can get. I know San Antonio has no shortage of Mexican spots to choose from but don’t let this mom and pop joint be one you drive past without tying!
