We are frequent customers for saltgrass, we just can’t seem to get enough. Service is always great, food is always cooked to PERFECTION! No matter how busy they are, they always seem to try their best to get everyone seated as quickly as possible. Never a disappointment after leaving this location!

Went for wife’s birthday. They were very busy but we saw some people we knew at the bar and sat there. The drinks were good. I ordered ribeye and my wife Prime rib. My steak was cooked perfectly although my wife had ordered medium rare on her prime rib and it was a bit over cooked. The bartender was very accommodating and we had a great dinner. Before we went out we checked on several expensive local steak houses and none of them had prime rib. Hard to believe in a city like San Antonio. I would rather go here and pay less.

Where do I begin with this terrible experience… Maybe the hostess that was very unpleasant with a nasty tone and look on her face.. I was then finally sat after waiting 10 minutes at 4pm… Like come on… I then ordered my food and the salad came out quick, I thought well maybe this is not so bad… Then my 12oz piece of prime rib I ordered turned out to be around 9oz. I thought this doesn’t seem right. The server insisted this was a 12 oz piece of meat and then grabbed a manager. She offered to get extra meat to make up the difference lol(do you even know how bad this sounds?) I told her no thanks and she offered to adjust the bill to what I got like she was doing me a favour. I could not help but laugh as I said there is no way I’m paying for 12oz’s when I got 9. I told her that if I could not eyeball sizes of meat they would have blatantly ripped me off!!! Is this not concerning to anyone? Purposely selling smaller cuts of meat then they charge for??? She didn’t take any ownership and bragged about taking an extra dollar off my bill like it somehow negated the overwhelming deception. Whoever trained this staff has no idea about customer service. I took a picture of the receipt and the meat to show the discrepancy. I will NEVER return to this restaurant, which is a shame because I used to love it.

This place gets 3 stars because the food out weighs the service. I spent $ 200 on gift cards as soon as I sat down. The waiter took my credit cards and went about his way serving other tables. I arrived at 8:45 on a Monday so it wasn’t real busy. I noticed my waiter kept hanging around a table and also the manager was speaking to that same table. They seemed to know the individuals at the table. It turns out those people were employees or former employees of this location cause they were cracking jokes about previous customers and management. My waiter had disappeared and when he would come near the table he gave more attention to the table of the people he knew. Didn’t even get a thank you after my large purchase. The food was amazing as always but management and the wait staff need a refresher on customer service.

The food is great! The door greeters or the people that seat you could use some help or should i say training. The bartenders are amazing, especially Richard. He is the nicest employee they have working there. Food is great for the price, no comparison to Longhorn Steakhouse. Steak and grilled shrimp are amazing!

I am very disappointed with Saltgrass Steak House on US281 N in San Antonio, TX. My sons and I went there in early November. My debit card was charged two times for the exact same amount — $ 130.45. I called them and was assured the second charge would not post. The manager also stated it had happened to several customers that day. It went away after the week-end. Then two weeks later, the exact same amount posted to our bank account! I called them about it. They said they would research it. I asked when the money would post as a credit to our account. They said they didn’t know. At that point, I called my bank. They called it a double charge(not fraud). They gave me the money back in my account the same day and are investigating the claim. I had to get a new debit card, which is a pain. Part of the amount was a rewards card for $ 25.00. Now I feel when I return, I will have to pay in cash. The food is above average and I have always enjoyed eating there.

We love coming here. We typically are not big on chain restaurants, but this is an exception. We have been to this location as well as the one on the Riverwalk. Both are consistently great. From the drinks and appetizers to the steaks. .we are always pleased. Our favorite appetizer is the shrimp and chicken enbrochette. It is fabulous. My husband loves their Texas Tea for a mixed drink. Like a long island tea with a shot of tequila. You can do it blended or on the rocks. He likes on the rocks. I’m a filet lover and the peppercorn encrusted with cognac sauce is Amazing!!!

Come here often. The service I get is always great, and the food is delicious. Can’t stay away from the bread and butter they serve you in the beginning. Kinda pricy but you’ll defiantly get the bang for your buck here.

This visit was probably my last visit to this location…3rd visit with bad service. I love the chain, but this location is lacking in so many areas.

Visited just one time recently. Food seemed OK. Several of the staff seemed confrontational and not terribly interested in me enjoying my meal. One even muttered under their breath. Maybe they were having rough days; seemed maybe there’s a systemic social issue at this location. I don’t know. It’s enough for me not to go back.

I’m not a fan of big chain restaurants but Saltgrass Donella is the exception. They never disappoint and the service is amazing. It doesn’t matter what cut of meat I order, the always prepare it the way I like it and they are so friendly in the process. We celebrate all special occasions at this establishment. This is a place where you get more than what you pay for.

Not impressed at all. My wife and I both agree for the money we spent we could have gone to a better place. Waiter was half ass. Dinner tasted like frozen food reheated. Even the ranch dressing was weak. Best part of my dinner was looking at my adorable wife. Sadly this isn’t the first time Saltgrass has disappointed. Guess we’ll keep going to our old faithful Texas Roadhouse. Much more attentive staff and food taste a lot more fresh!

After living here 10 years, we finally stopped in at Saltgrass. Very pleasantly surprised. Don’t let the rustic appearance, casual décor, or fact that this is a large chain throw you. This is a great place for steak. Esposa and I stopped by on a busy Sunday afternoon. We sipped some delicious chardonnay at the bar while waiting a few extra minutes for a special server. The bartender noticed us sitting for what he suspected was too long, so he covertly called the front desk asking why we hadn’t been seated; after they explained he felt better. We’ve NEVER had a bartender take notice like that without being asked – kudos! Our special server was, of course, awesome. Esposa had Maudeen’s Filet Oscar medium rare, while I had Pat’s Ribeye rare(yep, I like mine kickin’). Both were cooked to absolute perfection. Ribeye was one of the most flavorful AND tender steaks I’ve had ANYWHERE! Her asparagus were divine and my baked tater very good(missing the obligatory crispy, charred bottom, so not«great»). Washed all that down with a bottle of Decoy cabernet sauvignon(not cheap, but damned good). Excellent meal. Place is a bit loud. OVERALL: EXCELLENT. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

My Boss recommended Saltgrass Steak House to me because she stated it was her favorite restaurant. I saw it in passing and found an opportunity to go during a military function. I enjoyed some delicious Queso Dip with my friends and decided to dine on Ribs, coconut shrimp and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were meaty but definitely not the best I’ve had. I was given a bowl of tortilla soup with my meal and I would also give it a 3⁄5. I had two delicious daiquiris and spent a whooping $ 42.50 which included the tip. On the second day of my leftover meal, the ribs seemed rather tender, the mac was a tad greasy yet tasty but I can’t say I’d return immediately. The coconut shrimp was okay but I’ve made better batches in Casa de Jackie aka my house. For $ 42.50 I can have four bags of groceries from the commissary but hey it’s San Antonio. There’s a restaurant on every corner and as I foodie I want to try them all.

Just a really good place for a good steak and other choices. The staff, décor and ambiance makes this a great place for any occasion. We just went to the bar and had dinner. It was easy and the bartender was and is pretty friendly. Try the chocolate cake its huge.

Just left Saltgrass for lunch, five stars without a doubt. I have never been before so I didn’t know what to expect. Got there and they said it would be about a 10 minute wait, it was not even 2 minutes. Our server Lisa was friendly and knowledgable, and checked on us multiple times without rushing us. I had the grilled chicken breast which was cooked to perfection, and the White Cosmopolitan(so refreshing!). It was busy for lunch, and you could see the manager on duty was consistently on the floor and helping the servers out. Warm atmosphere, I can’t wait to go back!

Very impressed by this restaurant. The food is great. Tons of selections, almost too many selections. The service is fast and friendly. I have never had a bad experience at a Saltgrass Steak House. This location lives up to the Saltgrass tradition. One thing I really appreciate is that the food actually comes out hot. I think some places do not bring hot food because people will complain the food is too hot. Sounds weird but, trust me, most restaurants I go to do not serve freshly cooked hot food. Pros: * The price is right * Food is hot * Service is phenomenal Cons: * Tight seating, tables are very close to one another

Salt Grass defines Texas STEAK. I have been here on over 10 occasions throughout the years for both lunch and dinner and left completely STEAKIFIED with PROTIEN seeping through my pores, every time. I have tried the Prime Rib, Ribeye, Cowboy Ribeye, T-Bone, Top Sirloin, and Gulf Coast Steak and Shrimp steaks. My favorite is PAT’S RIBEYE, cooked ‘rare +’(between rare and medium rare, slightly bloody, but not disturbingly vampire bloody like rare) which I found to be most flavorful and distinct in texture. I could chew one piece of steak for minutes with each chew rich in Salt Grass’s smokey spices. The Cowboy Ribeye steak was my second favorite different from Pat’s Ribeye in that it is 24 oz(instead of 12 or 16 oz.), of which at least 6 oz is bone. My suggestion is to order the Cowboy more so for the presentation than for the larger portion of meat. Ironically 2×12 oz. Pat’s Ribeye is better in terms of the portion and price. Another reason for 5 stars is the complimentary Shiner Bock bread which comes straight out of the oven. The bread is warm and delicately soft with a crusty crust. The crust exerts a crispy tone as it is cut. The bread alone is a good enough reason to dine at Saltgrass. Note you can always ask for more if you run out, but be sure not to eat too much before the main course! Along with the steak you have the option to order either a soup or a salad, and a side. I have tried the steak, tortilla soup, house salad, and caesar salad, which are all great. The tortilla soup has a hint of spice. I could not tell the difference between the salads, but each one has lettuce. That is all that matters. Among the sides, I found SWEETPOTATO to be the best. The sweet potato is roughly 4 to 5 inches long and accompanied with a sauce that consists of cinnamon and butter. My other favorite sides are baked potato and sweet potato fries. You can’t go wrong with any sides that have ‘sweet’ or ‘potato’ in it. I advise against ordering seasonal veggies because of the lack of veggie portions. I was not surprised, this is a steak house after all! Also to mention, the service was BEYONDEXCELLENT every dining experience. The waiters and waitresses are genuinely friendly(not forced to be friendly for higher tips, if you know what I mean). If the steak is too big for you(shameful) you can ask for the steak and side to be cut in half and served on 2 plates. Be expected to be treated like royalty from the moment you enter the restaurant to the moment you leave. The hostess sometimes opens the door for you not only on your way in, but also on your way out. I enjoyed the other steaks that were on the menu, each steak with its individual deliciousness, but not as much as Pat’s Ribeye which I found the BEST by far. If it is your first time at Salt Grass and you are undecided on what to order, ORDERPAT’S RIBEYE with tortilla soup and a side of sweet potato and I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed!
