Mediocre at best… I would have expected full size shrimp in my Spicy Shrimp & Tasso but instead it was full of salad size shrimp :(The broccoli, cheese and bacon balls were pretty good but most were cold in the middle. The Tiger sauce they serve there however is to DIE for!

Groupon offered a great deal 50 bucks worth of food for 24 dollars. We decided to stop in for a bite. Ordered the catfish and shrimp platter it was amazing hot fresh and perfectly seasoned. Next time were in San Antonio I will definitely come by.

We drove quite a ways to try this place out, and I’m not sure we will return in the future. Our waitress was great. However, our hostess sat us in the back in the party area next to a group of about 20 people. I’ve never been around a more obnoxious bunch in a formal dinner setting in my life. These people were screaming throughout our entire meal; I couldn’t hear my wife or the waitress talk. Two other duos were sitting back here as well, and they looked just as visibly annoyed as we were. The rest of the restaurant was entirely empty, and there was no reason for putting customers next to this outrageously loud group. After this group had paid their tab(s), they all got up from their table but continued to loudly hover/loiter around ours. We encountered said party two more times; in front of the restaurant blocking the only exit, and in the parking lot where they proceeded to block our car in with their drunken staggering and vehicles. It was a complete disaster. We had hoped for a relaxing dining experience; instead we ate our food quickly so we could get out of there before our eardrums exploded. It was one of the top two or three worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The hostesses were somewhat rude when we left as well. We’ll just go to Red Lobster next time.

My mom wanted to have dinner last Sunday, and since she had a Groupon for this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is tucked into the shopping center behind Kirby’s Steakhouse, so it’s not readily visible from the road. Upon entering, we were immediately seated. The waitress was prompt and took our order. My mom told me that my dad loves this restaurant because of the fresh seafood, so we were very excited to try everything. We started with a dozen oysters, which were very fresh. My husband and I shared the grilled tilapia with the crawfish etoufee on top, which was amazing! I also ordered a cup of the traditional clam chowder, which tastes exactly what you’d expect. My husband and I were very pleased with our dinner and left the restaurant stuffed sick! Portions are split-worthy, and the oysters are pretty big. Come hungry if you eat here. Great seafood, reasonably priced.

Small venue restaurant Small bar Good Staff, polite. Very good food, I had the Shrimp Scampi and it was scrumptious! More than likely I will go back there, i went with a party of 12 and it was a little tight but we had a lot of fun.

Extremely disappointed. We had a few people recommend River City seafood for crawfish and since that’s what I wanted for Mother’s Day we went to check it out. It was TERRIBLE! The crawfish was microwaved, the one dinky potatoe was shriveled and way over cooked, and the small piece of corn was mushy and inedible! Even the seafood gumbo was bland. Next time we will brave the crowds at Pappadeauxs!!!

Our server was super emo and didn’t seem to have much table side manner. But aside from that our food was amazing! Everything had great flavor and tasted fresh. The bread pudding was one of the best I’ve had.

We came in for the crawfish and it was just OK, not juicy at all. Our waitress was great. Great atmosphere over all

Our waitress Chris was great. She was super attentive and helpful. The catfish was really good. Fries were fresh cut, and hush puppies were awesome. My wife had crawfish. They were on the expensive side. She said they were ok. It was our first visit. Nice atmosphere. Will be back again.

Food is good! BUT the server is very annoying. we have been bugged every 3 – 5 minutes. We feel like we are being rushed. We liked the food but I’m not sure if we will return because we like to eat in peace and not be bugged every time she passed by.

My husband and I called in an order to go because we knew it was going to be even crazier during the Lenten season. Let me tell you that it was a huge disappointment. Mind you, we don’t live far from this place(3 mins) and she said it would take at least 25 – 30 mins for our food. We left 10 mins after placing our order of fried jumbo shrimp and a shrimp and catfish platter so that we could just wait and grab a drink at the bar. We get there and it’s a madhouse. Servers were yelling at the bartenders and the kitchen staff. Forget getting a drink at the bar. People were literally on top of each other trying to order a drink. After my husband paid, we waited 10 more mins and our food was ready to go. We get home and our food is cold… like sitting out for a while cold. How is that possible since we only live minutes away from this place that the food is already cold? You know that bitter flavor you get when you’ve used too much lighter fluid on your bbq grill and your food tastes like it? That’s exactly what our food tasted like. It had a terrible taste of burned flavor. They really need better service and management when it comes to busy Friday nights, especially during the Lenten season. You could tell that many patrons were not happy last night. We’ve enjoyed their food before, so I’m really hoping it was just an off night. I’m sure we’ll be back just not anytime soon.

Very nice atmosphere. Good seafood. Catfish filets are very thin and tasty. Not fat at all. Salmon salad was very nice. Fresh baked bread for appetizer is very good. Tilapia Lafayette was average.

We were so excited to go crazy on pounds and pounds of crawfish, but the delivery guy didn’t make it on time. What can you do? We returned the next day and were completely satisfied. I went off the menu and ordered the grilled tilapia smothered in crawfish etoufee, side of cream corn and hush puppies. Had I not stuffed my face with coconut shrimp prior to that, I would have totally cleaned plate! Husband ordered the catfish po’ boy and what a generous amount of food that was. He didn’t even finish it but as I mentioned COCONUTSHRIMP. Our little man got the catfish nuggets, fries and a cute little menu to color on. Family-friendly restaurant is always a plus in my book! Overall, the atmosphere was very buffet-like but nice. Service was great and we’ll definitely be back.

Love love love seafood? You’ll love love LOVE this place. My boyfriend and I came here for some late night dinner(around 9pm). We ordered: a half dozen of oysters, a bowl of New England Clam Chowder, a cup of «Louisiana«Seafood Gumbo, and, the River City Salmon. Oysters: Tasted very fresh, basically demolished this within 3 minutes because I was starving! Cup of Seafood Gumbo: Okay so, for a second my boyfriend and I thought our waitress had mistakenly ordered a bowl instead of a cup. In fact, we were wrong. The gumbo tasted amazing and no lie; they give such a generous amount. Clam Chowder: Great comfort food as it was creamy and thick, and warm. There was so much that I couldn’t even finish it! Once again, a generous amount given. River City Salmon: Cooked to perfection! Everything on the dish was spectacular. The Salmon was moist and not one bit of it was dry. The aroma of the rice was overwhelming however when taking it bite, it was so fluffy and seasoned very well. The vegetables were tender, and wasn’t too mushy or too hard. Everything on the plate was very well executed, and honestly I was my boyfriends meal rather than my own(the chowder still tasted good though!) If I lived in San Antonio, I would definitely come back for their oysters and River City Salmon. Oh Salmon, you fishy dish. I can’t seem to get you out of my mind. One day, I will be back. Don’t forget about me –sheds a tear–

I apologize for my tardy review but would like to say that I appreciate that this establishment donates 15% of its proceeds of my tab to my church if while dining we mention that we are members of the Covenant Community Church. On the plus side, River City Grill is in the nicer developed Stone Oak area and roughly 20 minutes from the house. You will find it nestled in the same shopping complex as the Mellow Mushroom and enjoy a comfortable atmosphere with a small bar to enjoy sports on two flat-screens. On the negative side I wasn’t particularly too hungry and decided on a crab cake appetizer that definitely made me feel like Gordon Ramsey should be sending it out to the pass for a price of $ 12.95 and a cup of crab and corn chowder that was a tad greasy for my taste. Crab cake– decent size but the flavor and spice I’m used to was missing, good premium chunks of crab meat but I did not like the celery or green pepper used inside. If you are going to use those ingredients I would have preferred they were sautéed to soften them. I can’t say that I would order it again because half way through I found myself painstakingly picking out celery and bell pepper which had such a raw taste. Corn chowder– would fill you on a cold day and served with cheese on top to mix in which could have created the greased look. Could I eat it… Yes. Would I order it again. Probably not… Will I return… Yes if Pappadeaux is closed and overbooked, and I’ll try totally different items off of the menu. Pictures attached for your viewing pleasure

I saw a lot of mixed reviews for this place but honestly I loved it! The service was fantastic and the food was great! We were promptly greeted at the front door with a smile. Love that! I know it seems simple but I can’t even count how many restaurants that don’t give you that even when they’re dead slow. Our waitress, Christina, was fantastic. We were unfortunately in a bit of a rush and didn’t have much time to sit back and relax but Christina was very accomodating. She set proper expectation with the food we ordered and because she knew that we were in a rush, she brought our ticket and food out as quickly as possible. Just awesome, going above and beyond. She never left us wanting. We started with the oysters on the half shell which were plump and delicious. Proceeded with one pound of the boiled crawfish. Perfectly seasoned! For my main course I got the crawfish etoufee because of the rave reviews that I read and I was not at all disappointed! Hefty portion and very flavorful! I won’t even hesitate to come back! Perhaps even next week! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Guess I’m hungry right now…

I’ve been here many times. I can’t stay away from the bread and I get random cravings for it when I’m just sitting alone at home. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, whipped butter – it’s almost more than I can take… I really like the Shrimp Louisiana as an appetizer(ask for the special tiger sauce). The clam chowder is smooth and creamy and not at all fishy. The fried shrimp is always good and you MUST try the bread pudding. I don’t like bread pudding, but it came highly recommended by the staff. After trying it, I never leave without ordering it. It’s THAT good!!!
