First time here. It wasn’t mind blowing but wasn’t bad either. I’m not sure I’ll be back.

I went in with my kids and was seated and served chips and salsa quickly. The waitress took a bit longer than normal to get our drink order, so I should have taken this as a sign of what was to come. She was not friendly in the slightest, never offered refills or did anything except drop off the food and the check after I had to ask for it from someone else. She was just plain miserable as a server with our table. I’m not sure if we just didn’t look like the other customers in the restaurant or what, but I expect more than that at a place where the bill is $ 40+ for Mexican food, with only 1 adult meal and 2 kids meals. She also overcharged me on my kids drinks. Overall, the chicken poblano plate I ordered was good, rice was sort of dry and it came with borracho beans, which I didn’t try. The tortillas also looked good, but I didn’t try them either. We won’t be back after being treated like 2nd class citizens by the waitress though. and it was too pricey for what it was. 3 stars foot the food, 0 stars for the service.

We always sit at the bar and chat with Roy while we eat. The restaurant is easy to access, the staff has always been very friendly and attentive, and the food is consistently good. Since we usually do not sit in the general dining area, we mostly are served by the bartender(typically Roy) so I can’t speak to the overall service. We do enjoy the tres leches and the variety of top shelf margaritas.

I have been past this restaurant a million times — I thought it was fast-food Mexican food. I went last night with a friend. Walked into a very pleasant, warm, nicely decorated FULLSERVICERESTAURANT! The Mexican food was some of the BEST I’ve had. The service was great(altho perhaps a little overly attentive) — Thoroughly enjoyed it — and certainly will be going back and recommending it to friends! They need to do something to catch people’s attention — because they are worth keeping around — located facing service road at Loop 1604 and Stone Oak Blvd. WELLWORTHGIVINGIT A GO!

It was a dirty restaurant. Wasn’t impressed with the food. Menus were sticky and the atmosphere was has vibrant as you would expect.

I went there because I had passed it on the way to the grocery store the previous day, and it sparked a craving for nachos. Unfortunately we got there and I ordered the guacamole nachos and my friend ordered the chicken fajita nachos, and the plates came out with literally 8 chips placed in a circle around the plate, with beans and cheese on each chip, and some lettuce guacamole and jalapenos in the middle of the plate… Not only that, but our plates were identical except his had a small peice of chicken on each of his 8 chips… and the plates were 8 $ each. I was highly dissatisfied, I guess u can’t go to a place called papa nachos expecting good nachos… go figure

Better off going to Taco Cabana. The tea was made with dirty bath water. I asked for my 2 years old’s meal to be ordered as an appetizer and it came 5 minutes after my meal. Main reason we stopped there was because I worked late and I knew he’d be hungry after staying late at daycare. I ordered my son the chicken fajita nachos and for $ 7.00 more than bean and cheese nachos, we got a 1″ x 1″ x 1/8″ piece of grilled chicken on each nacho. Lastly, I ordered my wife’s dinner to go and asked for NO beans, extra rice. Got beans spilled over half the meal. I was polite to the waiter and still tipped decent with all the bad service and pathetic menu but I will never step foot in there again.

The food was good, but the server was not very engaged in the process of serving. He eventually came over to «apologize» by stating they were very busy. The rest of the visit got better.

This is a restaurant that the manager is in front asking if the customers are doing fine. Pappa Nachos has good prices considering the economy. The chips and salsa is great, and they have a more spicy variant that will burn your mouth. We had 3 types of enchiladas between us and they were all good, the Mexican rice was tasty, but the charro beans were the best. If you check in on Unilocal, they give you 20% off your entire order! That is great. Great location next to the highway, and I will be trying the chipotle chicken enchiladas next time.

Party of six. The waitress was all over us with refills and food order. We were not in a hurry but food order was a little slow. Food was good but more trendy Mexican food, not like the real stuff on the west and south side of San Antonio. A bit too noisy for me.

We noticed a weird smell when we walked up but it didn’t bother us once inside. Truthfully I was concerned that there was a half empty parking lot on a Saturday night but this restaurant was better than expected. My friend and I had Italian Margaritas. They were too tart so I had to water it down to finish it and my friend only had a few drinks before giving up. This is one of the better Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. We liked the chips and queso. I had the enchiladas verdes which were pretty tasty and I liked the rice and beans. I tried a bite of my friend’s cheese enchiladas and those were good as well. The service was not bad(maybe because there was only a few tables in the entire restaurant). Overall everything was good and I’d go back.

This is one of our«go to» restaurants in San Antonio and we go out of our way to go there regularly. We love the large menu options and I’ve never had a bad item from any of the plates I’ve ordered. Another consistency is the service. It is always on point and the servers are respectful and attentive as is management. Another big positive is the fact that they offer their lunch menu and lunch prices during the weekend where most other restaurants do not do this. I highly recommend visiting this place.

This is probably my 10th time here and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal. Today, I got cheese enchilada plate at lunch. Delicious as always!!! Bonus — The chips and salsa are the real deal.

For a place called Papa Nachos it takes itself way too seriously, but white people seem to love it!

Ok, tried this place again on a Tuesday because the manager the last time said they have a different cook on Mondays. Well, it was still to salty. We had the Mexican plate which consists of 2 enchiladas, 1 crispy taco and rice and beans. The plus is we can substitute the rice and beans with grilled veggies for no extra charge. The corn tortillas we received were NOT homemade and the taco meat and enchilada sauce was way to salty. The service was good and we love their hot sauce. Other than that, we probably will not return in the future.

As someone visiting TX from CO, I knew I was going to need to find some excellent Mexican food. At first glance, Papa Nacho’s appears to be a gimmick from the name. Honestly, I wouldn’t have walked in here were it not for the recommendation of my Grandma, who knows good food. I can safely say that Papa Nacho’s Enchiladas Chipotle are the most delicious enchiladas I have ever eaten. The refried beans are phenomenal, and the Spanish rice is the most flavorful and perfectly prepared I have ever eaten. This place is a hidden gem. Despite a tacky name, the establishment is clean, the atmosphere is delightful and the service was exceptional. While here, I wondered about a couple of the lackluster Unilocal reviews and asked. Apparently, there are two chefs; Jose is the head chef, he works Tues-Sat(usually) and is the person you want in the kitchen when you visit this place. If you ask, they will tell you if he’s there. It looks like this is what the regulars all do before visiting this restaurant. We ordered two frozen margs(1 sangria and 1 «perfect») which were excellent. Their guacamole is delightful, with a nice zest of lime. The queso w/beef is NOT that wack Velveeta crap we all despise. It’s legit, delicious cheese. Grandma got steak fajitas… which came out sizzling louder and full of more flavor than any steak fajitas I’ve ever had. Absolutely delightful. My partner ordered the spinach enchiladas, which come with a Verde sauce that gives it a beautifully refreshing finish. My chipotle enchiladas with beef were simply oozing with amazing southwest flavor the likes of which my stomach has never experienced. But be sure you go when Jose is in the kitchen… or be prepared for an experience I can’t vouch for. Our server(Jennifer I think) was super positive, had a great attitude, and was incredibly well-versed in the menu options available to us. She recommended my dish based on me telling her I wanted something not too spicy, with a little zest on it. Thanks Jennifer! I would say that if you are looking for a satisfying Mexican restaurant in San Antonio, Papa Nacho’s is absolutely worth a visit.

DISGUSTINGSLOPNOTFITFORPIGS! What the heck is happening in this town when food this bad is served to unsuspecting citizens. This is a rip-off of the original location in Leon Springs. At least that location served stiff drinks and believe me sir, you will need them to eat this inedible grotesque culinary rubbish. The food looks like it was prepared by three year olds doing an experimental art project with Doritos, mud, and wilted lettuce. Yea, you get the picture… disgusting. Our table was filthy when we sat down. It looked like an elephant that was ill sneezed up some vile fluid across the table. Gross! The waiter appeared intoxicated or on meth. He brought a bowl of ketchup salsa and some stale brittle chips. We didn’t get water for 20 minutes. I ordered a margarita which was made from some cheap mixer and it tasted like Mountain Dew mixed with anti-freeze. We ordered the beef fajitas and what they brought to our table resembled roadkill. The luke warm limp meat must have been revived in the microwave. The service here is non-existent. Its like ghosts wandering through a city dump. A foul smell was emitting from the kitchen. They must have got a recent delivery from the city dump. The owner of this place also runs Scuzzys, Milanos, Bourbon St. Café, and the atrocity called Saritas on Lockhill Selma. All of his restaurants have received very poor health reviews from the city. Reports indicate problems with rodent droppings, insects, unsanitary conditions, and many other problems. Taco Bell looks like a 3 star Michelin restaurant compared to this pathetic excuse for Mexican food. The city should be in an uproar that food this bad is being served. DISGUSTING!!!

My wife and I have frequented this particular location several times since it opened(the original location is on IH-10 in Leon Springs) and have generally been pleased with the food and service. The manager is always polite and attentive, but the wait staff can be hit or miss. We have had less than stellar dining experiences whereby in a single dinner, several waiters/waitresses have attended to our needs(with no consistent communication amongst said staff) which has lead to sub-par drinks, incomplete food orders, and other various mishaps. On the flip side, we have had dining experiences with the wait staff that have left us very pleased. The same generalization can be extended to the food quality; it has always been OK(hovering around average to slightly below), while other visits it has been very tasty(high average to above average). Please be mindful that this is a «family friendly» establishment and the clientele definitely represents this classification. There have been several occasions when my wife and I have had to relocate tables due to screaming children with a particular noteworthy scenario when my wife and I left due to the behavior of an unruly child. **Look for $ 10 coupons in local mass mailings as otherwise the prices are a tad high for Mexican food.**

Worst service I’ve had in years. At any establishment. Including Mickey D’s. I’d given up on finding decent Mexican food in the Stone Oak but after a wedding that was seriously lacking in the booze department, I needed a ‘rita and Papa Nachos was open. Criteria met. The restaurant was not what I was expecting from the outside. Looks similar to a Chachos or Las Palapas but inside Papa Nachos is a lot nicer(it IS in Stone Oak). Our waiter came by after we had checked out the menus for a bit and I could tell this guy either hated us or himself. «I’d like a micheleda please.» «…» “And can we also get the shrimp nachos?” «…» After scribbling our order, he finally spoke, «anything else?» And halfway through my response, he straight up walked off. Now, I like to give waiters the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he didn’t hear me? Maybe he had to go to the bathroom? But after we devoured our nachos(thems was good eats) he came back and asked if we’d like anything else. I started to say, «Nothing for now but I’d like to keep the me-» he walked the hell off with menus in hand. I. Was. Livid. Asked for check, tipped the guy a nickel and got out of there.
