A group of us decided to try this place after multiple reviews from locals. The wine and waiter were the best part. We started with the calamari. I’ve had my fair share before, but never in long thick strips. The calamari was tender, but we were somewhat confused on what it was… My dining companions ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, fettuccine with added chicken(+$ 6) and I had the gorgonzola fettuccine with spinach(splurging on a heavy meal!) After peppering, salting, red peppering and adding parmesan, the spaghetti and fettuccine were still bland. Literally, tasted like noodles. The chicken tasted as if it were boiled in water, then thrown on a grill to make marks. Mine was good, but gorgonzola has a pungent flavor! The spaghetti and meatballs were also largely unflavored. The meatballs tasted like water and lacked texture and basic flavor If you’re looking for Italian, keep moving along…

My husband and I ate here for our anniversary dinner at my mom’s suggestion(although she dined at a different location). My husband had the fettuccine Alfredo and I had the cheese tortellini with basil cream sauce. He said the fettuccini was pretty good, slightly above average. My dinner was fantastic, it was so creamy and flavorful. My main issue was the service. Our waiter only talked to us when we first sat down to tell us the specials. At one point, I was absentmindedly swirling my straw around in my glass of water, and the waiter snuck up behind me and started refilling my glass without saying anything. I had to jerk my hand away so he wouldn’t pour water on my hand. The food was above average, the service below average.

Must have items: Shrimp Paesano and the Mediterranean Salad! Service was exceptional. Food was flavorful and perfect portion size for lunch. Worth the price. Variety of dining, indoors /outdoors. Love this place!

This place was terrible. Service was bad, food was bad and the restaurant was chaotic. I should have known better when I asked the waiter what he recommended and he said it was all ok

Our waitress Eileena was great. Make sure you have a mudslide. Food was really good. The calamari will feed two people for four days. You get more like finger steaks in the way it is prepared, very good.

I loved this place. I ate here 3 times when I was there because the Shrimp Paesano had me dreaming of it every night. The shrimp was lightly dusted with panko to give it an amazing texture that was light and not heavy like fried. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was sooooooooo delicious I felt like I was in Italy sitting at the table with Uncle Vito while grandma Leoni whipped it up in the ktichen. IT was very light and refreshing, and having Italian heritage, I prefer a more hearty gravy(sauce). The lunch portion was ideal for me and I came back twice for a total of 3 times and I was only there 3 days! I was lucky to find a version of the recipe online that I will try to make. Im hoping its the same because I’m still thinking about this dish.

This was my second choice when I wasn’t able to get a table at boudro’s A friend recommended place for buttery shrimp. Waiter was friendly recommend the crab stuff salmon. Not sure if they brought me someone’s old mistake dish but it was out like 2 minutes after I ordered it. Came out very dry and salty. Very disappointed.

Not worth it. Service was neglectful. Had to scavenge for silverware. Food was super bland & came out too fast. Questionably fast. Sangria tastes like bubble gum & came out 10 min after food. When I finally received bread & «olive oil» It definitely was not olive oil. More like canola or corn.

Amazing food. Amazing view. Great service. I had the parmesan crusted chicken in a lemon butter sauce on a bed of spinach and linguini. It was the best meal I had on the Riverwalk. The waiter recommended a lovely Chardonnay and it was perfectly complimentary to my meal.

Come highly recommended by a co-worker, he said that we must try the shrimp paesano — and boy, was he right! 1 of the best shrimp dishes that I’ve ever tasted in USA. Got the stuffed shells for the main dishes, and it’s just so-so for me — the sauce wasn’t tasty enough. For this location, make sure you have a reservation if you don’t wanna wait — even on weekdays dinner time

Maybe it’s because I had tex-mex my last 10 meals, or maybe it’s because they are just that good. Service was nice. The complimentary bread was on point. Yr shrimp paesano is amazing but I would avoid the calamari(not crispy, felt like chewing a sponge). The blackened tuna was good too. The shrimp though… You have to get the shrimp! The penne pasta is nostalgic of home… But I’m Chinese so I don’t know if that is a good thing or bad thing. Overall, it’s pretty good. I’d recommend this place for your escape from tex-mex on the river walk

I had heard about the famous Shrimp Paesano from another restaurant I frequent, The Border Foundry in Laredo. Their shrimp special is based on the Shrimp Paesano, so since I was in the hood why not give it a try. The location of Paesano’s Riverwalk is pretty nice, located fairly close to the La Mansión del Rio it gives you a nice perspective of the river. The patio area is pretty big and a couple of the tables are located right next to the river, while the others are on the other side of the walk. As planned, I ordered the Shrimp Paesano and it was pretty good — although it did not wow me. Overall, even with the nice view, the atmosphere is still that of a mundane worn out concept, think upscale Olive Garden.

We stopped into Paesanos because my out of town parents don’t really love Mexican food and quite frankly, the Mexican food on the Riverwalk that I have had isn’t that great. Our waiter was newish, but super friendly and willing to try to answer our questions. I think his name is Nick, but this was a couple of weeks ago(I thought I already wrote this review). The hostess was also super nice. The lunch specials were totally reasonable. I got the spinach fettuccine and it was a great portion for lunch, and had great flavor. I would like more spinach to at least pretend that there’s something healthy in the midst of a a cheese sauce over pasta. My mom got an appetizer trio which had a good amount of food on it and she liked it. My Dad had eggplant parm and said that it was really good too. The only thing that really missed the mark was the tiramisu. The cake part itself was good, but it was topped with a really sweet white icing. I really did not like that and while I understand putting a twist on an original, some things are better left as they are. I would come back if I find myself on the Riverwalk again.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here, we sat out on the patio for lunch and were able to watch all of the people on the river walk. It was a great day for a meal outside. The food I received was below average. I ordered the margherita pizza and the cheese seemed fake, also the crust was much thicker than expected for an Italian restaurant. However, a friend ordered the fettuccini with grilled chicken and it was very good. The bread and olive oil to start was delicious. The service was average, we sat a bit out of the way so we didn’t see our waiter that frequently but that was fine with us. Would return for the ambience and would try ordering a pasta dish instead!

It’s at a nice location along the Riverwalk. Their bread was warm and pretty good– we added balsamic vinegar to the olive oil they initially gave us. Their soup of the day(creamy mushroom) was OK but tepid and a bit on the salty side. My wife’s penne with a creamy tomato sauce was spicy for her but I didn’t mind it. I have spaghetti with meatballs which was above average but not spectacular. Service was average(for example, no one noticed empty cups of water). Overall it was a decent place along the Riverwalk where it’s difficult to find an excellent restaurant.

Delicious food, great cappuccino and extravagant dessert! I really did enjoy the environment and the waiters were on point, ready to refill water and clear plates. My table sat outside, under the awning. Thank God we were not all the way outside because it started to rain and several people had to run in. The waiters did a great job of helping them enter without disrupting the rest of the guests. I didn’t even notice what happened until the end when a co-worker told me. I did go here for a business dinner, which actually worked fine with the space and amount of noise. We didn’t use laptops though… not that style restaurant. The only thing that would prevent the me from returning is if it was on my own dime and not a special occasion. I’m sure they’re not suffering though. Delicious food.

Pros: –Right off the river walk with outdoor seating. –Spacious area. –FREE bread when you sit down. Mhm free anything is always great especially when it’s warm bread. –Food was delicious and came out at a decent time. Cons: –the hostess had an attitude. And then told us it would be a way longer wait than it actually was. –Although, our waiter was super friendly, it took him awhile to get our food/drink order. I realize it’s busy but waiting almost 20 min after we were seated to order was kinda upsetting. Over all our experience was okay, just wish we could’ve gotten in and out faster, but then again I understand some people like to take there time and places like this. Just depends.(:

I was in San Antonio on business and of course headed down to the Riverwalk after our conference ended! A friend and I decided to have a «progressive» dinner enjoying appetizers & drinks with friends at one place, then moving on to a new spot for our entrée. Paesanos was where we landed and we were delighted. Our outdoor table was right along the riverwalk so we were entertained by the local ducks that have the art of begging mastered! We ordered the specialty of the house — a shrimp and pasta dish whose name eludes me right now. It was wonderful! The shrimp were prepared perfectly and the pasta was cooked just right. They offer a great wine selection by the glass or bottle. I must confess that we were so full that we skipped dessert! Wonderful evening and meal.
