Good food, low price… great combo. The neighborhood around the restaurant is a bit(a lot bit?) on the sketchy side. On the down side they don’t have fountain soda… just by the can. That’s not my favorite thing. Probably a 3.5, but that not a choice.

I was craving for a good mexican food and Unilocaled what is around Lackland AFB and i end up here after reading their reviews. I have to say they have good customer service, the food however was affordable but i tasted that the pork meat wasn’t fresh.

Do not waste your time calling in an order so you can save time. Today when I called in my order I thought it would be ready and waiting when I got there and it was waiting but they were serving so many other people ahead of me that it didn’t matter I could have just rolled up and placed an order and got it much faster than if I would have called it in. First of all apparently this is a great night spot for drinking and evidence was left all over the parking lot I ran over a bottle in the parking lot and got a flat tire so this literally is the most expensive Mexican food I’ve ever had.

Lots of good Mexican food down here, but seeing as this used to be Mexico I’m not surprised. Homemade tortillas, green chili that made my eyes water, and no other gringos in there– all of that spells authentic. Nothing fancy, but thats how good food should be. If you find yourself down this way– first ask yourself«What the hell am I doing down here?!» After you solve that problem, go get your grinds on at La Michelada Grill.

Delicious! Great service and great food! Much better than eating at the Riverwalk, and very convenient for after visiting Sea World.

Keep forgetting to get this up! The shrimp cocktail was on point, sadly I had a really bad toothache that was hindering the cold yumminess, my husband had this amazing fish dish that was covered in the most amazing sauce and soooo good! I’m ordering that next time we head to Texas. We came at a much later time in the evening, and we came with company that everyone knew there, so as expected everyone acts accordingly. When we head back to Texas this winter we plan to stop and enjoy some more food and see what it’s like with less company in tow, I will update my review then on the other aspects now go eat !!! You won’t regret I promise

It seems near impossible to find a Mexican restaurant that isn’t at least decent in what they make and this place is no exception. I was going to give this place 3 stars but I remembered just how friendly our waitress was and how friendly the young man working the cash register was, too. They start you off with a small bowl of what tasted like freshly made tortilla chips. The salsa was not the chunky variety but it was tasty and had just enough of a kick to let you know it’s salsa. Although the bowl of tortilla chips was small, our waitress replaced it when we ran low. They had three lunch specials of which I chose the mixed fajita plate(chicken and beef). At first glance, it wasn’t very inviting as the beef and the chicken pieces were rather small. The requisite green peppers and onions were also present for your dining pleasure. The plate also came with rice, refried beans, some shredded lettuce, tomato and some kind of thin guacamole. Honestly, no one thing stood out but when put on one of their piping hot flour tortillas, it worked. My dining partners also really enjoyed their meals. One gent got their huevos rancheros and proclaimed them excellent. My other dining partner ordered the Camarones a la diabla — a bowl of a red sauce, loaded with shrimp, and covered in a nice layer of molten cheese. I tried a taste and it was muy excelente. So, if you’re in the neighborhood and pining for some Mexican food at a decent price, give La Michelada a try. As a bonus, they have a 10% off your first order Unilocal check-in offer!

Can you say homemade? Homemade, homemade! We found it on Unilocal and the area was a little strange when we got there looked a little sketchy and husband almost said no. When we went inside I noticed that everyone in there were local Mexicans and that’s a good sign for Mexican food. Great food. Best corn tortillas I ever had. Service was super nice and helpful prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend this cute little place

The food was too good. The price was too inexpensive. The staff was too friendly. Do not come here if you want to have a bad experience.

Came for breakfast one morning… The food is good. I had 2 carne guisada tacos. The meat was tender and the tortillas were hot and fresh! The salsa was yummy and spicy enough to wake me up! The waitress was nice and semi attentive. I say semi because she was the only one there and was serving 6 tables. So she was busy but I didn’t feel neglected. The only bothersome thing was that the a/c wasn’t running great or I made the wrong seat choice. But the neighboring customers had something to say about it too so must of been the a/c. So come for the good food but sit away from the register!

While the waitress was nice, the birthday group was fun and the free mariachi band was an unexpected and likely rare bonus i felt slightly cheated by a mexican restaurant that looked at me like i was crazy for wanting spinach enchiladas or well anything but cheese or meat. My grandmothers food was good but for a elderly woman with dentures she orders the tender cuts and though tasty she did have trouble with the harder chewy consistency of the beef tips. My food was good but nothing to write home about. We did enjoy the salsa but like many places i found the chips to be a little too soaked in oil, maybe they just dont shake them off after frying them or perhaps the oil temp isnt high enough. Either way it was good enough to eat a half bowl of chips and salsa while our hungry group waited for the entrees. Overall the many many flavored drinks are the most spectacular thing about this place. The overall atmosphere was enjoyable until all the vendors started coming through trying to talk people who are in the middle of a meal to buy their toys, hats, popcorn bags, etc. This is a high foot traffic place and gets targeted by the southside mentality locals trying to make a buck off people who are willing to pay you to go away.

I had fajita tacos here and I thought they were good. My mother didn’t like her señorita plate and my father didn’t like his pork chop plate. This place looks cool too.

Awesome shrimp cocktail, MMMMMM!!! Service is very friendly and the food was brought promptly. Salsa & chips are served while you wait and the salsa is very good, just spicy enough.

Had a colleague of mine from work not mentioned«that little Mexican restaurant behind the Church’s near Military and Hwy 90» I wouldn’t have given half a damn about La Michelada. I had a craving for tacos and walked inside during the World Cup match between the U.S. vs. Portugal and chose a seat. A waitress got to my table and took my order for a Mexican coke and 3 tacos: carne guisada, barbacoa and beef fajita. First I got my chips and salsa. The salsa was thick instead of runny like at most Mexican restaurants and wasn’t overly spicy or bland. Now as far as the tacos are concerned, the only one that stood out for me was the carne guisada. The barbacoa was way too fatty and greasy and the beef fajita was just bland. The tortillas were awesome though.

Great food! The seafood platter is big and very good. The fish is nice and crispy and tastes fresh not frozen. Very filling! The mexican plate is wonderful and comes with a lot of the best homemade tortillas around. And the kids will love the plates they offer.

They make their own corn and flour tortillas and they are great! We had enchiladas and carne asada. Everything was very good and reasonable. The chocoflan for dessert is very tasty.
