Apetitos Mexican Restaurant

Whole lot better mexican restaurants in the area. I thought it was over priced by about 20%.
I do not like eating and drinking off of plastic plates and coffee cups. I do not like my bacon fried in a deep fryer either. Sure it’s crispy bacon but it curled up into a little ball. It was nearly $ 3 for 3 little balls of bacon.
Had to ask repeatedly for coffee refills.
Food quality was nothing spectacular by a long shot. Refried beans were a little bland, the fried potatoes were a little under cooked. The scrambled eggs were over cooked. Tortillas were very good.
For a bean and cheese taco, go for it. For a good breakfast meal, rethink this place. Like I said, not bad, not great a tad over priced.

Outstanding tortillas! Great service and seating for 5 on Sunday morning only took 20 minutes. Only negative was that the Caldo was served too hot and had to be taken to go. Would definitely return!

Ask for a detailed receipt when u pay! This is the third time I have been to this place and was over charged again! I will never go there again!

I have been eating here since I was a little girl. About a year ago or so, they had a kitchen fire causing them to remodel the whole restaurant. The food hasn’t changed in any way besides improving. Great food, great service, and the inside is so open and lit with sunlight. I would eat here every morning if it didn’t mean getting fat!

Hidden gem on! Food is great, tastes very authentic without the greasy mess that you get from other places. You can taste the passion in the food. Staff is very polite regardless of whether you speak English or spanish. Very clean, warm and inviting. Restrooms are very clean, you can tell the staff likes their job.

First time here and I would say I enjoyed it very much. The charro beans were very good and mixed with the sals verde adds another taste to it. I recommend the enchiladas

Great atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff (quick with the drink refills and our waitress, Myrna, frequently checked on us). Food was on point. We will definitely go back!

Very welcoming staff! The breakfast is delicious… Need to come back for lunch and dinner… Syrup came out warm and we never had to ask to refill our coffee or drinks… Bye bye IHOP!

Food was good. My son loved the bacon and eggs. Enchiladas are good. First waitress seemed offended that I asked for a glass of ice, forgot so I had to remind her and then all of a sudden she wasn’t our waitress anymore.
What I am assuming is the owner was not very nice. Seemed as I was a bother asking him to break a $ 100 bill. I asked if he could and did not insist. He said he could. He assumed I needed no ones so I asked him for ones and he gave them to me quite rudely. Never gave me a receipt nor thanked us for coming.
Sad because the food is good, being in hospitality myself this means too much to me so I won’t be back.

This place is hands down the best place for tacos and any kind of plate you can think of. I’ve been coming to this place for 25 years and the quality of food and customer service is always incredible.
Too many people talking about they had better or to go to some taquerias here in SA. Newsflash, taquerias here are a joke and most of them barely pass the health inspection, and if you think that food is better, then you probably wouldn’t know the difference between dirt and crap.
Needless to say, this place has it all. Good food, fast and friendly service, good prices, clean and nice environment.

This place is a hidden Gem, with all the construction happening on marbach. I hope it doesn’t detour people from coming. We came in town from Cali for the holidays and haven’t seen the new remodeled place. First off this place looks amazing and feels amazing. They just did everything right with the décor, and everything is clean from the entrance to the restroom.
SERVICE: The waitress is amazing. She is probably one of the best I’ve had ever. She is nice, smiles all the time, checks on us, likable, and makes you feel comfortable there. Like your at your abuelas house for lunch. She definitely earned a huge tip from me.
FOOD: Wow! Is what I have to say. The food was hot and amazing. And with the chips and salsa they bring these noodles in a soup juice that almost taste like menudo. It’s amazing I had to get thirds. Lol. I had the Jalapeño Jack enchiladas and my wife had the bean and cheese tacos with the pancake plate. The enchiladas were drool worthy and just perfect with the cooked pepper on top. My wife was in love with the tacos and the big puffy pancakes, but especially loved the bacon. The tortillas were amazing, puffy, homemade with flour on the finger tips good.

Great family owned restaurant, great service, great food. What more could you ask for in an establishment? The renovations look great too! The enchiladas are super yummy. That’s basically the only thing I eat at mexican restaurants (besides quesadillas) since I am not a huge fan of Mexican food. If ever back in the area again I’ll be sure to visit!

A little slow but the food and service made up for it. We came shortly after they opened and that seems the source of the slow but the food was hot off the grill and the server was super sweet. Their pancakes are so good I honestly can’t figure out how the IHOP down the street does any business.

I’m thrilled this place reopened post fire! I’ve had many decent meals with people I care a lot about at this restaurant. It’s not the best Mexican food in town, but it’s good always. The service is friendly and efficient. The tortillas are like Abuelitas. Breakfast is a winner. Love the charro beans, and the caldo is tasty. The remodel is well done, but I’m not a fan of the reserve parking for police. Yeah, I know this place is known for that. .just think it’s unnecessary. Make the trip tho… feels like home.

Came here for breakfast tacos with my family. The restaurant is beautiful, definitely an upgrade. The servers were very attentive which was awesome. We all had sweet tea which was a bit under sweetened for me. No big deal. We each had a bean and cheese taco we all agreed the beans didn’t have flavor. My chorizo and papa taco was really good. My sisters asada taco also had No flavor to it, unfortunately the same outcome for the bacon and egg taco. Can’t say I would go back.

Food? definitely had better. I don’t know why people praise the tortillas, they were fat and doughy. Tacos we ordered were quite tasteless. For a Mexican restaurant, not serving horchata and having salsa on demand were low keys. Great service does not always bring customer back if customer knows places with great service and great food. $ 18 for 6 tacos and one cup of coffee (friends had water) is quite pricey for Mexican restaurant for that caliber.
Would suggest El Tequila down the street …

Why this place only has 15 reviews is unfortunate. Every time I’m in Texas I visit this amazing establishment. The Pancakes are delish and the barbacoa kicks ass.

Thus us a great place for cheap food. The renovations since the fire look amazing. It only took a year but they are now back in business. Very friendly atmosphere. The open concept looks very beautiful especially the back window area.
