Probably one of the best sushi place in the bay area. The miso soup is good, I also highly recommend the spicy California roll, dragonfire roll and rainbow roll. I try to change what I order every time and so far I wasn’t disappointed. The service is good as well, and they used to have moochi mango for desert, which was great, but unfortunately they stopped serving this recently. Still, if you go there, ask if it’s back!

A decent restaurant. Terrific food. The selected sashimi is the best I’ve had in Palo Alto. I ordered a sukiyaki beef pot and it’s big enough for two. Excellent service. A bit expensive though.

Fuki has become our go-to sushi place in the Bay Area. The sushi is super fresh and expertly crafted. The atmosphere is very zen, and the wait staff is the friendliest and most professional. We usually go there without reservations(dangerous :), but we have always been able to get a table within a reasonable amount of time(thank you lovely host!). I must mention the non sushi selection, which is excellent as well. On certain days — I suspect when they get a fresh delivery of fish — the sushi tastes so exceptionally good, it’s like magic. I have recommended Fuki to many colleagues and friends — all of whom are fans now of this traditional, beautiful Japanese sushi house. Wonderful place.

This is the restaurant that Zuckerberg loves. With three of my friends, I visited it for dinner. We ordered four dinner sets, each of which contains over four well designed compartments. We also got edamame and soft shell crab as appetizers. Overall, the food was tasted and beautiful. Especially Sushi and Sashimi were fresh and delicately cut.

Never again. Please only go to Fuki Sushi if you are a fan of overpriced, low quality sushi and terrible service. Fuki was recommended to me by a coworker, so my boyfriend and I came in for date night at about 5:30 on a Friday and there was a 15 minute wait. No problem — like other folks in line, we sat down at the bar. All the bartenders were busy fulfilling door dash orders, so after about 10 minutes of averting eye contact with us, one of them finally asks us what we’d like. We ordered a large carafe of the daiginjo sake(served cold, ~$ 30). He fills it up 2⁄3 of the way. Since it was a $ 30 carafe, we politely ask if it should be filled to the top and he told us no because that would be «too much» sake. Uhm, okay. So, we made sure not to leave«too much» tip. After a 20 minute wait, we were seated in a room with lots of empty, NON-RESERVED tables. So why the wait? Dinner was probably the worst part of the evening… we started off with the soft shell crab and beef tongue appetizer. Tasty, but not great. Then, we got the Iso Yose Mori(17 pieces of chef select sashimi — $ 38). It took at least 25 minutes to come out(we had to ask our waiter to check in. Twice). And… I kid you not — we were served tiny SLIVERS of sake, hamachi, mackerel and tuna. SLIVERS. I have small Asian girl fingers and my pinky was bigger/thicker than those sashimi pieces. What. The. Hell. The total bill came to 125+. Absolutely ridiculous. Unilocalers, IFYOULOVEYOURSELF, please save your money and just go to Niji in downtown Mountain View. The ambience isn’t as nice, but you sure are getting way better quality and service for what you’re paying. P. S. Niji fills their sake carafes ALLTHEWAY.

We laughed. We cried. Well, actually, we laughed so much we cried. Highlights of the restaurant: Décor and layout appropriate for a high end sushi restaurant. Respectful and welcoming hostess. Fresh sushi that is on par with most peninsula standards. The crowd is low key locals. Nobody comes here to see or be seen which is nice. Toro maki could use twice as much toro. The tuna sashimi is amongst the best. We could have done with less Geisha inspired costuming and more attentive service. Priced at the top of similar sushi restaurants in the area. Highlights of the evening’s discussion: Outsourcing the outsourcing. Kind eyes. Turkey hand drawing. Pannus.

The sushi here was really top notch. Selection available was impressive, and the Buri and Aji particularly stood out for our meal. The seating is a little tight, although there are some semi-private areas if you made a reservation(we simply stopped in craving sushi, and were seated right away). Service was average, and the prices are high, but the food is worth it. We couldn’t find a better sushi place in Palo Alto.

One star for ambience and one more for the server. I am Japanese-American and moved to Palo Alto 3 years ago from Tokyo where I lived for 15 years as an adult. My parents owned a shabu-shabu restaurant in L.A. I know Japanese food. My son’s nanny(who also lived in Japan, for 20 years) ordered sukiyaki. Bland. we asked for more sauce. It didn’t taste like they made it the traditional way, grilling the meat first on a hot iron pot then cooking the rest of the ingredients. The pot wasn’t even moving. Looked like they just heated up a pre-made dish. She was craving sukiyaki, so that was a bummer. She said my sukiyaki made with the pre-made sauce from Nijiya was waaaay better. To think we paid $ 23 for it is almost a crime. My appetizer tempura was great. The dipping sauce was good. Who ever makes the dashi here knows what they are doing. This was followed by the main dish, kamiyaki-nabe. First ate the fish. Funny smell. Didn’t eat the second slice. Everything else was decent… until my final moment when I poured the broth on the cha-soba(buckwheat & tea soba) and slurped the noodles. I almost spit it out… from my nose and mouth. They apparently put a dash of wasabi oil in it(hence I did not see wasabi on the noodles and did not expect any wasabi taste in the first place) and they must have poured it on by accident because I have never experienced such burning feeling up my nose and down my esophagus! I love wasabi but that was insane. I just got home and I still feel nauseous, face burning and tummy is not doing so well. I almost feel like I’m getting an asthma attack. :-( The server was very very sorry but she apparently couldn’t tell the chef. She said it would be better if the manager mentioned it later. If it was my restaurant, I would fire that chef. The whole dinner experience was ruined. My husband and I came here when we first moved here from Tokyo– was not wowed by their traditional sushi(we usually don’t eat California style crazy rolls) so we have avoided coming here. Our go-to place is Akane in Los Altos. More homey ambience but they have decent Japanese food overall. I thought we would try here again because my son wanted natto rolls tonight and Akane was closed. In fairness, the natto rolls were good. They made it just like I asked. oh– so the whole bill for 1 x tempura starter, 1 x sukiyaki, 1 x kaminabe and 2 rolls of natto maki came out to $ 78.30. The manager didn’t bother to come by and apologize or better yet comping my kaminabe– until I paid with a platinum card. They offered to bring my son ice cream after I was all done paying, saw me writing a comment on the back of the receipt then getting out of my seat. Too bad. I really wanted to support local Japanese restaurants owned by Japanese people. This place must have been awesome when Mr. Zuckerberg used to dine here. Unfortunately, no trace of awesomeness tonight.

This place was recommended by the hotel concierge. When we arrived the place was busy, but they seated us fast. We paired Asahi and Sapporo drafts with several rolls: Spicy deep fried tuna roll Spicy spider roll Dragon Roll Fire Dragon Roll They were all very good and very fresh, but the service was just okay. If you’re looking for variety to your normal sushi haunts, give this place a try, but there are so many good sushi restaurants in the area, that I don’t see myself coming back until I sample a few other places.

Our sushi was quite good, the tempura was really tasty, the Mochi ice-cream was out of this world, our waitress was very pleasant, helpful and quick and offered us several good suggestions. The restaurant ambience was delightful. Although this place was a bit expensive-the food and service were well worth it. We’ll certainly return :-)

i was craving sukiyaki and found that they had it here so decided to give it a try. not the sukiyaki that I thought I would get(like the one in Japan where you dipped the beef in raw egg) also the kaminabe was ok … compared to other Japanese places around here, it was decent, but for the $$$ i paid, i expected more. Might as well just stick with sushi tomi or kappo naminami in Mountain View

Best sushi I’ve had in the bay. I’ve tried countless sushi restaurants in San Francisco and none of them serves fish this fresh and rice well seasoned. I was SHOCKED by the quality of food and its authenticity. The service was excellent, too. Had mostly sushi… Sake, toro, hamachi, unagi, amaebi… Toro was orgasmic. Melted in my mouth. Also appreciated the fried shrimp head that came with amaebi. The hot tea was also delicious. Overall, great experience. Will be back.

This is my family’s go-to sushi place. We ALWAYS get sushi here. We’ve tried many different sushi places; NONE of them has the high quality food at the affordable price Fuki Sushi offers. If you’re looking for the huge extra saucy baked Californian rolls or any of those American-Japanese dishes, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you want mountain yam, bamboo shoot tempura, yummy agedashi: the more traditional dishes, then COMEE. The sashimi here is THEBEST around the San Jose-Cupertino area. Hamachi kama is our family’s favorite. We often get o-toro, hamachi, saba, and special menu fish sashimi style. But yea… this isn’t the place for hungry penniless college students. You’ll feel ripped off if you come expecting an exceptionally tasty meal.

Pretty nice japanese food place The décor both inside and outside seems pretty elaborate – a lot of wood in terms of furnishings everywhere. The waitstaff all wear kimonos, and seem to walk around very slowly — I guess this is meant to make them more geisha-like? Who knows In any case, the price is slightly above average, and the food quality is pretty good. The«soup-rice» set is pretty cool – they give you a bowl of rice with separate little dishes of «toppings». Then they give you a small teapot of «soup». You put all the toppings into the rice and then add soup to it, which is pretty neat. I haven’t seen this type of food since my last trip to japan Overall, a pretty cool place to visit.

We tried this place based on a recommendation from the hotel. The food quality was food and tasted delicious, but it took a very long time for it to be ready. It wasn’t just our order but it looked like in general. They asked us if we wanted a miso soup or salad while we were waiting. I assumed it was complimentary, and it was nice to see once we got the check that it was. So they were at least aware of the situation. I also ended up drinking a lot of tea since we waited so long. But it was worth the wait. My colleague had a couple of folks, where the jalapeño roll was apparently amazing. I had the chirashi, which for the first time I really enjoyed every grain of the rice. It was really tasty and they served it in 2 separate small bento boxes. Not the standard way(usually the sashimi and goodies are put right on top of the rice), but it was pretty cool. If I am back in the area I likely will make the effort to return here.

Dinner for six Saturday night — 7PM. Ordered a tatami room for 6(min $ 30 per person). Have been here a dozen time for lunches. Enter via El Camino way, not El Camino — easier access to the parking lots(there three connected areas to park in). Tatami room was great for our birthday event. We sampled many things — all were excellent. Miyagi oysters, soft-shelled crabs were ‘special’ items and we loved them. Tried a few favorite rolls fire-dragon, scalifornia, lobster roll(special) and spicy spider roll. Sashmi was fresh and modest portions — 17 piece tray has many great varieties. Not much going on for ‘birthday’ theme there — but they but a candle in the ‘aircraft carrier’ they served all of the rolls in. We tried a +5 Jizake sake(Zuiyo Junmai Sake) for $ 21 — very smooth and great with the dinner.

I’ve actually been going to Fuki Sushi ever since I was a little kid. To this day, I still think they make the best udon that I’ve ever had anywhere. Udon is such a simple dish it’s really easy to be really careless about it, but the one thing I love about Fuki Sushi is that they’re never careless. Every dish is very refined, and as Mama X. says, each dish is supposedly made with love. I typically go for the Nabeyaki Udon($ 13) and a gyoza appetizer(5 pieces, $ 6). Today I also tried a sustainable trout nigiri since I’ve never actually tried the fish here. I’ve gotten California rolls in the past and they were literally awful, but I wanted to give the nirigi a try since a lot of Unilocalers seem to have tried that. Mama X. got the build your own bento with the salmon teriyaki and chirashi rice. Udon is so spot on. The portion has actually gotten larger since I last came here, so it’s definitely filling. The soup is what really hits the spot. Super light and flavorful. There are three tempura foods delicately poised on a dish next to your udon dish that taste decent. Gyoza is spot on. The nigiri was actually quite good. For one piece of fish, it was a really generous cut – nice and fat, and super fresh and delicious. I was definitely more impressed by this than any of the rolls that I’ve ever had at the place. My mom’s bento was simple, but delicious as well and so well crafted. Service is very friendly here. Their tea is also delicious! There used to be a big lunch rush since the atmosphere is very much a quiet business-lunch kind of scene, but when I went today, there weren’t many people. Not sure if they’ve just lost business over the years? I certainly think they’ve maintained the same high quality food they always have. At the prices here, it certainly is a little higher than average, but nothing absurd. I’d definitely rather pay an extra few dollars if I can get a higher quality final product. tldr; fantastic high quality authentic Japanese food; on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it
