4.5. Love this place. Their food is great, excellent service and very reasonable prices. It looks like a hole in the wall but don’t let that intimidate you. You will not be sorry!

This place is great for cheap, huge rolls. Reminds me a lot of sushi house in Alameda. The fish isn’t incredibly fresh and there’s usually not a lot of people here. If you want real sushi, steer clear though.

Egads, this place is depressing. The décor is dated and very run-down, and the pale green carpet is wearing through in multiple spots. It looks like the restaurant hasn’t been remodeled since the Nixon administration. On a Friday, during peak lunchtime, there were only two other patrons; They, and some of the staff, were sitting and watching an old 80’s movie on the TV. It was not exactly«hopping,» and I was wondering where all those Unilocalers were who gave this place 4 and 5 stars. The food was not any better than the ambiance. I ordered the bento lunch with teriyaki chicken and saba.($ 9.95) The teriyaki was overcooked, and the Saba was on the tough and dry side(hard to do for an oily fish). My salad and soup, however, were decent and pretty fresh. What was really weird, though… my cup of green tea had an uncharacteristic odor. It took me about 15 minutes to place it, but I finally did — fried corn tortillas. Not an unpleasant odor, mind you, but WTF? A sign outside the door indicated they were filing for a change of ownership. I don’t think I’ll return until well after than happens.

I have to agree with everyone… Dancy is a great place to drop by and grab some sushi if you’re in the Los Altos/Mountain View Area. We’ve been here a couple of times and can safely say… Dancy Sushi is among the best in the area. The rolls are a descent size and the place is pretty clean. The only drawbacks is that parking can be a little tight. It’s a good thing Dancy’s located right on the corner of a major mall(at least it used to be)…

I was already hesitant about this place due to it’s name. But, since it had great reviews on Unilocal, thought I was in for a treat. Ordered take out on a Saturday night, and was extremely disappointed. The sushi did NOTTASTEFRESHORHIGHQUALITY, and a few pieces that they put into one of the rolls was awful. The WORST was the COUNTRYROLL. sounded very appealing on the menu with a good mix, comes out to be about a 3 oz fillet of raw fish quickly wrapped around a small piece of rice and some slimy scallops. Just looked like a lot of flesh and very unappetizing. I’m sorry to give this place such a bad review, and maybe we ordered the wrong things, but I WILLNOTBE A RETURNINGCUSTOMER.

I LOOOOVEDANCYSUSHI! My bf and I go here all the time! Rolls are huge, the prices are great, presentation is beautiful, and they always give free appetizers. — Wonderful selection of special rolls. We always get the California fire roll. And they are huuuuuuuuge. Yum! — The bento boxes are great, too. They come with soup and salad, two choices, and a nice orange to round it up. — The staff is so attentive and accommodating — Four out of the five times we’ve gone there we’ve gotten a yummy appetizer on the house. it’s the Bf’s favorite part of our meal — Can’t forget the free lollipops by the door. Come to Dancy’s…you won’t be disappointed. My favorite place for sushi near Stanford — hands down.

Large rolls, fresh fish and tasty appetizers. The deep fried gyoza were delicious. My dynamite roll with spicy scallops and tuna was definitely a good choice, even though rather small compared to the rolls of my dinner mates. Still hungry, I took two«a-la-carte» nigiri: yellowtail and super white tuna. Biggest nigiri ever got(huge fish chunk on a microscopic rice) and the fish(especially the super white tuna, one of my favorites) was absolutely tender and a delight for my palate! The suspiciously pinkish mochi I got as dessert, on the other hand, was absolutely forgettable. Not so the tempura green tea ice-cream(taken by a friend) which was really looking attractive … The prices are reasonable and the staff rather friendly and efficient. First but not last time …

Think this used to be called Monster Sushi… always wanted to try it out — finally got to over the weekend. Not a bad sushi place — your standard rolls and American-style rolls also(aka deep fried, shrimp tempura style rolls). We got miso soup($ 1 each), a tuna fire(spicy tuna, deep fried), and a yummy yummy roll(tuna over a spicy tuna roll). It’s a decent place and pretty close to home — I wouldn’t mind dropping by again.

I’m pretty skeptical of strip mall eating establishments, especially the ones that look hole-in-the-wall-esque…especially if they’re pedaling sushi. But Dancy Sushi was a pleasant surprise! No wait. Fast service. Fresh and delicious Sashimi. Large rolls. Friendly service. Reasonable pricing. I’ll definitely be back for more. YUM!

This is my friend’s «spot,» so I suppose I am obligated to give a decent review. It’s interesting that prior reviews are so incongruous. For me, I found the service to be efficient and friendly. We sat at the bar, and because my friend is a regular, enjoyed conversations with the chef and another regular visitor. I’m blanking on my order, but I know it was something with eel and… Anywho, my rolls were tasty, but I did find them overly large – which made it a bit difficult to eat in just one bite. Yeah, I’ll return… but only with her! ;)

More like 2.5 stars. Sunday nights must be REALLY slow for Dancy Sushi. A couple friends and I stopped by here for a quick dinner last night. Between the 4 of use we ordered 5 rolls, which was more than enough for all of us. Since we were the only table dining there, service was prompt and efficient. We were served a vinegar marinated daikon salad and piping hot miso soup to start. The rolls started arriving shortly after– we ordered an Alaska, Philadelphia, Rainbow, spicy tuna, and Volcano something roll(California rolls topped with baked scallops and a semi-spicy mayonnaise sauce). The quality was so-so… the rolls were composed primarily of large quantities of stale rice, imitation crab, and not so fresh fish. I’d give Dancy Sushi 1.5 stars based on quality of food alone, but I’m throwing in an extra star for price($ 13 each to be ridiculously stuffed). Not sure I’d return. I’d much rather dine at Sushi Tomi, Fuki Sushi or Gombei.

Saw the great reviews so I decided to check it out. Came on my lunch break since I just wanted ONEROLL and a cup of miso soup. The restaurant wasnt packed or busy, but tell me why I sat there for 40min waiting for ONEROLL to arrive!!! What a waste of time! The rolls are also wayy overpriced. I’ve had better for a cheaper price. Not worth it. I spent $ 18 on one roll and waited 40min for it. NOTCOMINGBACK!

Saw all the great reviews on Unilocal and decided to visit this restaurant! The exterior of the restaurant, driving by on San Antonio was questionable at first… esp w/the blue neon lights… The restaurant had its doors wide open, meaning it had no A/C. The hostess greeted us promptly upon arrival and we were quickly seated. Pretty Sachiko — …there was too much rice… which was rather bland. — 8 pieces of the roll were huge… so huge that I had a hard time putting it all in my mouth with one bite! — The roll itself was mediocre… nothing really to write home about. The restaurant tried really hard by providing a mini vegetable salad-like appetizer as well as complimentary miso soup, which was pretty watered down. …there was some confusion in regards to my green salad… which was not provided and later had to be ordered, despite the sushi chef saying it was included?!? Service was challenging at best… I ordered an extra salad and two salads eventually came?!?

Portions are HUGE! We went 15 mins before closing and they hooked us up with deep fried salmon and another fish dish. We ordered sashimi, rolls, sake, and beer. sashimi– you can tell it’s frozen and not fresh(it was even a bit hard) but the portion is great. roll– ordered the hamachi lover i believe and it was a no frills roll. will not order this again. sake– i ordered the large sake but it came in the regular size(i guess their large is other restaurant’s small). generally, i would give this a 3 to 3.5 star but it deserves a bit more for their big portions and its mom and pops feel.

Props for all the freebies(cucumber plus strawberry slice salad, miso soup, fried fish pieces). Got the appetizer sashimi to start which was a great deal, $ 7 for 6 pieces of pretty good fish. I had a hard time deciding on a roll though. I was craving eel so I went with the rock and roll. However, i was curious about the nut crunch that was an ingredient in some of the other rolls. So when the sushi chef came over to ask me what i wanted, i asked to try a lil of that with my roll. The roll came out looking like a sloppy mess of fried shavings of the nut, piled on top of the roll which was layed out piece by piece on its side. The whole thing was impossible to eat, SUPERMESSY. very little eel in there and a whole lot of fake crab. I do not reccomend this. perhaps the other rolls are better? the special rolls menu looked really good, but at $ 16 a roll, i didnt splurge. Now, i am wishin i had. Oh well, probably wont be coming back here due to this experience.

This place was SO amazing. My boyfriend and I came here and went totally overboard with two orders of nigiri(hamachi and maguro), tempura(shrimp and vegetables) and an enormous special roll(double crunch or something like that). The pieces of fish were fresh and quite big. Tempura was very light and crispy. We were seated at the bar and got to watch the chef compile the roll — 8 enormous pieces — it was beautiful. Along with each entrée, we each got the very good daikon salad mentioned in an earlier review, miso, another special fried unagi sampler to share, and then there was rice and salad and. well anyway we were totally overwhelmed by food. Both of us were completely stuffed at the end, and we are not light eaters. Total bill was $ 42. I would highly recommend going here for a casual but delicious meal.

I have to agree, this is a 4 star joint. Service: for the most part excellent. They were very fast. Food: Great selection… by far the best selection I’ve seen in a while. An enjoyable repertoire of rolls and a good selection of nigiri and even a couple of hand rolls. Generous portions. Nice freebies(salad, miso, and some fried tuna bits). I’m extremely picky when it comes to sushi rice, though, and that can make or break a place for me. The rice tasted just a tiny bit old to me, but not enough to really ruin it. This place is nothing I would really boast about to my friends, but it is a solid sushi joint. Ordered: maguro nigiri(fresh), kanpyo roll(yay kanpyo!), and Sunset Roll. Friend got: wakame roll(very tasty), mexican roll(surprisingly good), futomaki(very diverse). Also, with a blob of rice surrounded by salmon and topped with generous portions of tobiko and a quail egg that come in a pair, the Sunset Roll looks like eyes. Or a pair of women’s…well, you get the idea. Very difficult to eat, but amusing nonetheless. Good fresh fish, lovely presentation. I’ll be back for sure. I think this place is possibly owned by Koreans(judging by their website), but I’m fine with that. I think most sushi places in MV are. Bathroom: clean. Décor: nothing to write home about, really. Very light and airy… I feel like they could do more with it. Bonus points for having sushi chefs watching baseball, though they’d get even more if they were animated about it.

This place has changed names more times than P. Diddy, or whatever he’s called now. Still, the special rolls are pretty good. A bit smothered in sauce, so if you don’t like sauce, don’t come here. They give free food too, like fried salmon and some kind of sesame dessert. The salmon was really good, but the dessert was not. Still, free is good!

Better than when it was TGI& Monster. WHY!!! B/C there is LESS rice on the rolls. That is reason enough to come back. Recs: Prospect & Country Rolls. –2 stars for the tuna wrapping around the Country Roll-couldn’t even get my teeth through it. There is definitely a lack of freshness here, but the flavors and combinations are good.

In my opinion, the perfect chirashi would contain the following ingredients: *multiple slices of sake, hamachi, saba, hotate, maguro, unagi, amaebi, tamago, white tuna *ikura(salmon roe) *slices of sweeten braised shiitake mushroom *pickled radish or daikon *seaweed salad(optional) This restaurant’s chirashi had the following pros and cons, relative to my notion of the perfect chirashi: Pros: There was decent variety and the quality of the fish was pretty good. Had sake, hamachi, really white tuna, tobiko, squid, surf clam, some yellow roe cake and pretty good maguro… Cons: It was missing unagi(what the…), the tamago was that artificial yellow color, no hotate, saba, seared white tuna, wakame salad, pickled daikon or cabbage or marinate mushrooms. Overall, the experience was good. They gave us a nice free starter and even a free appetizer. Both contained fresh strawberries, which is unusual, but for someone who loves strawberries like me, I was happy. The chirashi was rather pricey, but the portion size somewhat made up for it.
