I felt good about eating here in that the menu is mostly healthy stuff… colorful, so you know you’re eating fresh. Long line, as it’s located in the French Market where there are lots of tourists. Slow but friendly service.

My husband and I ate here for the first time six years ago while on our honeymoon. It was so good that we went again on an anniversary trip! The food is outstanding! It is all prepared fresh and the staff is super friendly. I got the Crab cake Po’ Boy and even though I don’t usually do bread, I didn’t feel heavy or overly full. I can’t wait until our next visit to try something else.

This is definitely a food gem located in the French Market. While sitting at the counter(which is an awesome experience in itself), I devoured the Crab Cake Passion and the fresh squeezed orange/carrot/ginger juice. Every bite tasted fresh & made with love. Plus, the service was just as amazing as the food. I was greeted with smiles & sent off with well wishes. So happy to have found this place where they offer so many healthy options, including gluten-free! They seemed to be very conscious about food allergies. I was truly impressed that they asked every customer if they had allergies they needed to be aware of as they prepared their food. I will definitely be back here during my next trip to NOLA.

Just happened on this spot before the French market closed and averill told me to have a seat and take my time despite the restaurant closing in 10 minutes. She was so friendly and the food was amazing. I had the salmon with eggs and grits. If you want to have a conversation about New Orleans, averill is the one to do it with. I’ll definitely be back. They also have a large gluten free menu for those that need to worry about that.

Come here if you want: out of this world tacos, and to age 10 years. Sitting next to a local at this small café located inside of the French market, we were told he comes here everyday to eat the tacos. We knew we needed to try these ‘to-die-for’ tacos. My friend ordered the tilapia tacos, and I ordered the crab cake tacos. There was no line, and maybe 2 people ahead of us. We waited 50 minutes to get our tacos. Our service was sloooooooow as a sloth. The young girl taking our order, would take one of ours at a time, then proceed to stand by the register and text before taking another order. This is a 5 seat bar small café, and we found ourselves needing to wave her over to get her attention on anything. Out to-go box sat on the counter in front of us(but too far to reach) for several minutes while we tried to flag her down in the 5 foot radius to give us our food. Despite the not so good service, and melting in the heat unnecessarily for almost an hour; the local was right. These tacos were INCREDIBLE. I suggest coming here when you’re not in a rush to go any place!

What a great place for delicious and healthy food in New Orleans. We walked by this place in the French Market but didn’t stop because we were stuffed. Later that day I was too tired to go out but I was starving. I was able to order food from here online. They were late delivering because they accidentally made my gluten free meal incorrectly. I didn’t mind at all. They are very educated on food allergies and intolerances. Delivery guy biked it to our hotel which I appreciated. He was friendly. They did not have one of the gluten-free and vegan desserts I ordered, so they gave us four different gluten-free desserts to try at no additional charge. Awesome lagniappe. Everything was delicious and fresh made. Great place for those with food allergies and special diet needs. It’s reasonable too. :)

«Essential to the French market» We have logged a total of 3 sittings in two visits to Nola. This establishment is locked in as a must for us anytime we visit or is asked about suggestions. You should visit the French market and if you do you should eat here to take a nice break from the noise which is the French Quarter. Ambience: It’s a food stall about 4 stalls into the French market on the right. It seats 8 at the counter but there are tables behind you. The place is very unassuming but once you sit down you get the hospitality that you only hear and read about. They cater to locals they are not about tourists. Meaning: don’t come expecting your blank to be kissed but treat them with respect and you’ll be treated kindly in return. I’ve seen them deal with douchey behavior and it is quite funny. But share in their passion that is their food and culture and it’ll open your eyes which is their everyday. Food: Passion crab cakes 10⁄5 As I’ve stated before, this place has a permanent place in our heart.(No pun intended) it’s truly a great crab cake, made 100% with blue crab local and fresh. It’s crust is perfect for protecting the precious cargo that is inside. The remoulade that comes with it had the perfect zest that brightens the dish altogether. Complete dish. Never change. Drink: We had the vegetable/juice option with ginger. I generally don’t drink things like this but it felt balanced and easy to drink, nothing overpowering one or the other. Service: Friendly and will take care of you but don’t be rude and we’ll all get along.

Hanging out in New Orleans for the first time and boy is it hard to find vegan friendly options! Found this little gem of a place in the Market just minutes from the cathedral. Nice friendly lady working the counter. Food took longer than most places but It was definitely worth the wait! Fresh healthy food! :) I saw about 10 people order their fresh carrot juice while I waited. Looked tasty and fresh but decided to go without. I would definitely come back.

Good food and healthy options while in New Orleans. Giving four Stars, even though food is good, they were about 40 minutes on the food and another 10 minutes on the orange juice and shake so the food and drinks did not come out together. Small area to wait or eat. Would probably visit again but would be a better experience knowing these expectations.

Such a pleasant surprise! What a sweet little lunch counter tucked into the French Market. They were so careful to make sure everything was made gluten free which was really appreciated, and it was all delicious! The gf crab cakes are excellent. The service was genuinely thoughtful and helpful. All the ladies really wanted to make sure we were genuinely enjoying our food. It was like being at your favorite southern aunt’s table for lunch. Definitely worth seeking this little place out!

My gumbo needed a lot of tabasco. Spice it up guys! With that being said, I loved the flavors and it was fresh. My fiancé had the po boy and there was not even a morsel left on the plate! I also really liked that they delivered. The food was delivered still warm and were pretty close to the promised time.

The crab cake passion is where it’s at. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and have always considered myself a crab gourmand and this place delivers! Located in the heart of the French Market this place is an absolute must visit.

Unfuckingbelievably good food! So good that we ate here twice in the same day. No joke. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, omnivore, or one of those people who thinks they’re gluten intolerant, you will not be disappointed. Everything we had here was amazing. Our favorites were the crab cake po boy and the vegan blueberry pancakes. The counter is small, but even if you can’t get a seat, I very highly recommend either waiting for a seat to open or just getting your food to go and sitting at a table in the French Market or even walking over to the river. The staff here is extraordinarily friendly and polite. I was impressed by how politely, patiently and professionally they handled some impatient customers during an extraordinarily busy weekend. Despite the being in a city filled with a prolific amount of great food options, Meals The Heart Café is definitely at the very top of my list of places to return to next time I’m in NOLA.

The healthy option at the French Market– how refreshing compared to everything else. The most popular option are the crab cakes, but I was in the mood for something different and went with the tilapia po boy. While you are waiting, they are nice enough to offer you water or juice, which is a life saver when your liver has been working overtime all week. Food takes awhile– but it’s worth the wait. The po boy comes in with the option of either veggies or potatoes– I opted for potatoes because I figured it was my last day in New Orleans, might as well continue my trend of unhealthiness. The fish was really fresh and it was dressed differently than what I expected. It tasted similar to something I would have found at home with lettuce and a lighter dressing. There was a side of another dressing that I added onto the sandwich that enriched the taste with a little bit of a quick. The potatoes were fantastic– would recommend getting them over the veggies. Everyone who works here is really friendly and that’s what brings them up to five stars– for being sweethearts.

Yet another business I am partial to because I feel like they built their menu specifically for me. Ha! Where do I begin? They have vegan, gluten free breakfast foods which sounds like a dream to me. Everything that fits my eating preferences combined with my favorite meal of the day. I had gluten free pancakes that actually tasted like regular pancakes(my fellow GF peeps know the struggle) along side vegan apple and sage sausage. They also deliver! I haven’t had anything else on the menu yet but I will update this review when I do.

You’ll bring heathy meals to my house, WHAAAAT? My partner is vegan, I’m a on and off pescatarian and we have a three year old who won’t anything green without incentives. It is pretty hard to find restaurants to meet all of our needs and are nutritious. BUT Meals From the Heart fills the void. I happened on this place looking for a place that delivered on Grub Hub. I was really impressed with my first order, the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich and they gave me a coupon so I came back for more. Their breakfast has proved to be my favorite. They have everything from gluten free pancakes(that actually taste like pancakes) to salmon. I’ve never visited but their food alone speaks volumes.

Simple Farmers Market Dining The food here isn’t your typical greasy bad for you southern food. Instead it is fresh, low on salt and fat, and prepared with love. The prices are very affordable. My crab cake was something like $ 8 and included the most amazing simple fresh salad. Of the numerous $ 14 – 24 crab cakes I have had this $ 8 marvel taps them all. It was FANTASTIC. The service was a bit slow but the staff super friendly and nice about it, feeding me free mandarin oranges to thank me for my patience. I can’t wait to go here again and try more items. This is a great option if you are looking for healthy and affordable food in the French Quarter.

The server at the front was super friendly and accommodating! We sat at the bar and were immediately given a basket with oranges(cuties). This place is very unique and has great options. I would definitely eat here again, but order something different. I didn’t love the combo juice or my PoBoy. On the other hand, my husband was ecstatic about the GF pancakes + vegan butter. He loved his meal! We ordered : Gluten & dairy free blueberries pancakes, turkey apple sausage, a Breakfast PoBoy(custom), freshly squeezed orange juice and a combo juice(orange, carrot & ginger) — $ 55 Pros: 1. They are the only place with hanging heaters, which was great — it was 50 degrees! 2. They are gluten and vegan friendly — pancakes, bread, dessert and smoothies 3. Everything is freshly made to order. 4. Breakfast all day long 7. They have hooks for your purse/bags Cons: 1. Everything is made to order, so it takes a LONG time to get your food. 2. Seats are limited(8). They do have tables and chairs to eat at close by(just not under a heater).
