So this is what the Dungeon is now and I am not a fan. The old dungeon had a certain appeal to it. Yeah, it was cheesy with the gargoyles and stuff, but there was a certain mysterious charm. Now it’s just like any other tourist trap in the Quarter. The last time I went I was blown away by how different it is now. All of the kitschy decorations are gone and in it’s place is a whole lot of nothing. Also, there once was a time where taking a picture inside the Dungeon was grounds for immediate banishment into the streets. Now you are encouraged to take a souvenir picture in a stand up coffin that they have leaning against the wall. I took a picture in it to show how bad it is. And of course, the bookcase and all of the cages are gone, so really what are you even doing here?

Excellently scary place! Fantastic freaks all around! I love this place and I always pay a visit whenever I’m in town! Watch your drink don’t leave it laying down or you may find yourself laying around!

Aptly named. Ye Olde Original Dungeon was where we were headed. Alas, they were closed! So Front of the Dungeon was the next best thing. The sake shots we’d had on Frenchmen street we hitting me hard so I wanted to mellow out a bit. Not quite. Not here. Dark and kinda dirty. there was metal blaring on the jukebox, System of a Down, Metallica, something like that. Oh what a relief! The cover bands of Bourbon St the night before were a nightmare. There were cheap drinks and a an open pool table, all set! Bartender was cool. The crowd was. they. I honestly don’t remember at that point of the night. I just know I won a game of pool. Some kinda voodoo shit.
