Came here for the meat pies, but they are closed. It’s not a bar/restaurant specializing in wings.

I got food poision from them twice. There service was good but there food got me sick. If I ever go there again I will make sure to get packaged stuff and look at the dates on them. But it was the deli food that got me sick. What a vacation that was.

I work nearby and got food from here several times. It’s a deli that delivers — nothing fancy, but you get good affordable food when you order the right stuff. Great: stick to the poboys and meat pies. I’ve had the shrimp poboy serveral times and it’s always excellent. Crawfish meat pie was awesome. Not so good: I ordered the $ 9 buffalo wings appetizer, but was served the buffalo tenders instead. They were 5 small pieces in the box. They were good, but it was not enough for the money considering you can get a huge poboy with fries for the same price.

I thought this place had a decent Tuna PoBoy and fries… I would have given it a 3 star review, but due to my hubby’s experience I had to give it a 1 star. My husband had a turkey sandwich that was premade in the glass case, and ended up puking all over the hotel room about 3 hours later(and no he had not been drinking). It was AWEFUL!!! He said he has never had stomach pains as bad as those before… Stick to the made fresh or fried food at this place.

You may be able to get an inexpensive, okay po’boy here, but you are going to pay for it whether it be the $ 3 for a beverage that costs half of that at Walgreens, or stomach issues later on. I can think of several places within 4 blocks that are better for sundries, most notably Compac Grocery on St. Louis where the ATM fee is the best in the Quarter…99 cents!

How odd to find a place with food this good so close to Bourbon St. Recently they have added limited seating inside the store, and have added tvs for Saints games. Let’s face it, eating in the FQ is expensive. Except when you find the places locals go. The Poches smoked pork and jalapeño sausage poboy is only $ 6.95, and it comes with seasoned fries. The crawfish pistolette(think meat pie) is $ 3.95, and is a dish that can be found nowhere else in the FQ. Heck, I haven’t found one in the whole of NOLA. The Cajun nachos($ 9.95) are not to be missed, and they come with red beans, smoked sausage, cheese, and jalapenos. The Banana Foster cheesecake($ 4.95) should not be missed. Closed Mondays, they are open at 10am the rest of the week, deliver the FQ, and are open to at least 2am(3 on thurs, 4 on fri/sat).

This place makes me happy. Why? They’ll deliver food to me at work until at least 2AM six days a week. It’s fast, cooked to order, and they offer a good variety and whatnot. Usually within 15 minutes, too… right on. I can always get a hot sausage po’ boy, and fries. I don’t even expect the fries, so it’s always like a short-term memory surprise.

I thought I was high when I found this gem, located just off of Bourbon Street at 806 Conti. I’m used to trekking across the Quarter for a shrimp po’ boy from Verdi Marte. But the true find here is the Meat Pies. Oh man, they are like big Empanada, but filled with a spicy ground beef concoction that tastes like it was hand made by mom! They look kind of like you took the top of a large pot pie crust folded in half and stuffed with the meat and veggies. And the Deli is only charging like $ 2.50 for them. I would get fat on these if I lived within walking distance of this gem. The Deli has only been open for a month and I think they’ll succeed given the quality of food and wide selection of beers. Clarissa J. was complaining that she wanted a meat pie. Meat Pies are not plentiful in the Quarter like po’ boys and jambalaya. So I had this hunch that French Quarter Deli & Grocery had them, and they did. Me so smart me deserve cold beer and meat pie after work!

MEATPIES. Near the end of my trip I was starting to want something other than shrimp and oyster po’ boys, catfish, jambalaya, gumbo and red beans. Starting to. I still would eat any of those items till the cows came home as long as I am in New Orleans, but I actually began craving meat pies of all things. This was Louisiana, wasn’t it? Where could I satisfy my craving for a spicy meat pie? Natchitoches. But I wasn’t going to Natchitoches. My friend Mandy P. who was born and raised in Natchitoches, LA made me my first ever meat pies. Similar to empanada in my culture, but had the spice and flavor of Louisiana that I LOVE. So, it was what I craved and what I wanted. Believe it or not, it’s an item that isn’t very easy to find in New Orleans. There were a remote couple of places in the Quarter that had them on the menu, but I tried them at one place last time I was there and was not impressed, and the other looked like a tourist trap, so I steered clear. Mandy P. texted me that I must go to Jacques Imos for them as soon as humanly possible, but it was well outside of the Quarter(St. Charles Street Car still isn’t back on its full route) and perhaps maybe a little pricey for what I wanted. I just wanted a simple fix and not a full sit-down meal. So, John L. and I began our quest, peeking at menus posted outside of restaurants.(I know, how touristy!) He vowed, «Don’t worry. I will find you some meat pies!» After a handful of places I was starting to think this was a pointless search. Until John mentioned a little grocery-type deli he passed on a previous stroll that we might try. Not quite thinking they’d have meat pies(since my other grocery deli love, Verti Marte, doesn’t carry stuff like that), we get there and a huge sign outside listed a number of items including«crawfish pie.» Wha? Could they possibly have what I was looking for? Listed at the top of their menu, forth item down: MEATPIE(seasoned cajun beef stuffed pastry deep fried to perfection) $ 2.50 CHA-CHING! John came through. And they were exactly what I wanted(none are like Mandy’s, but still soooooo good). We went back two more times for them towards the end of the trip. By the third time, the workers recognized us and the girl behind the counter merely asked, «Meat pies?» I know, sick. But you can quickly become addicted to these tasty to-go morsels. French Quarter Deli & Grocery just opened a little over a month ago, but I have a feeling they will do really well with their location, hours and menu. Their menu is extensive, including appetizers(Mac & Cheese Bites, Crawfish Pistolettes, meat and crawfish pies, etc.), burgers, breakfast sandwiches, chicken wings, po’ boys and other deli sandwiches, pastas(Peanut Chicken Pasta, XX Chili Pasta, Linguine with Garlic Butter Sauce and all sorts of add-ons, etc.) fresh salads, and much, much more. They carry all kinds of beverages, liquors, wines and beers which, yes, they will gladly deliver along with your food order. They are open and will deliver from the morning until the wee hours(3am on weekdays and 4am on weekends). I’m so glad this place opened. Perfect for that special grocery/deli fix towards the Canal-side of the Quarter(see Verti Marte for goodness on the opposite end of the Quarter towards Esplanade).
